I spontaneously decided to get my nails done here. The gentleman I spoke on the phone with was very friendly and they were kind enough to take me in the same day due to cancellations. My nail tech, Tran, was so courteous and polite. She did an outstanding job with both my manicure and pedicure. She was very thorough in establishing what I wanted exactly, and executing it. The cuticles are clean, the color is opaque and consistent, and the shape of each nail is symmetrical. I really appreciate her attention to detail! I’ve never had a better result from anywhere else in Salem. Thank you Star nails, I will be a returning guest! 😊

I called to schedule a pedicure yesterday for today. . They guy schedules me at 1:30 and casually says it might be a few minutes late. Ok. Fine. 30 minutes later, and no acknowledgement, I left. I told the one nail tech sitting there playing on her phone I was leaving. She said ok.

Yesterday my daughter and I went to get pedicures for her 10th birthday. We spent over 30 minutes waiting (we had a scheduled appointment) then they only spent about 15 minutes on our nails. The lady scrubbed my toes raw and have me terrible flaky skin around my nails/tips of my toes and didnt even paint my whole nails...The person who did my daughters didnt use the color she picked (she grabbed a different color from her stand from a previous client) but I didnt realize until afterwards. They put her sandles on before her toes were dry to rush us out and completely ruined the polish in the meantime. She has had her fingernails painted too and there was nail on her skin on almost every finger. We will definitely never go back.

It was my first time here at Star Nails.The service was exceptional.I’m the type of person who rarely gets their mani and pedi done and if I do I am usually super late with getting them done again.The staff was so nice to me for not knowing exactly what I was looking for and helped me picked an appropriate color for my mani that is within Army regs.The lady who did my pedi was super OCD with my nails, I LOVED IT. She really cared about the precision of where she colored and getting my nails prepped from the left over gel polish from last time.The lady who did my mani was super OCD too and she did such a great job cleaning my nails prior to coloring.I really appreciate the amount of effort they all put in. Will definitely be coming here again and telling my friends :)Thank you!

The manicure and pedicure are great! Unfortunately, the manager/responsible for the appointments is really not professional. More than once changed my appointment without letting me know (so i would arrive and it was not possible to have my nails done), not to mention the one time i waited forever and ended up doing with a different professional because mine was busy. From my perspective he makes a mess of the appointments or plays around chosing which jobs are more profitable. I absolutely adore Lili but unfortunately I wont be coming back.

I went in for my first acrylic manicure here, I was nervous going to a new salon but Paula did a FANTASTIC job!! She was quick but paid so much attention to detail, she made sure I was satisfied! I get compliments on my nails regularly.The salon is clean & is update regularly. It has a great selection of colors. All of the staff are very friendly too.

Do not get your nails done hereby! By the time I walked out of the salon my nails were already messed up. I got a manicure and the nail technician didnt put my nails under anything to dry she told me I was good to go so I grabbed my purse and keys and my nails immediately smudged all over they were not dry and I trusted her that when she told me I was good to go that my nails were good to go. Also once during the session my nail got messed up and she didnt even want to fix it when I was sitting in front of her. Waste of money. Do not get your nails done here

I wont be back for a few reasons. Staff is nice and the place seemed fairly clean so theres that. This is my second time there. My first was just a regular manicure and it was pretty sloppy, but I wanted to try them again.1. My full set with shellac came out really thick and unnatural looking, and several of my nails were crooked. These things can be fixed, but I didnt have time for it and really they shouldnt happen.2. Most importantly, my fingertips were completely swollen and tender the first night and day after. Either the technician over filed my nails or incorrectly sized my tips. I could barely sleep I was so uncomfortable. This also could be related to the gel being too thick, hard to tell.3. Way overpriced. $50 for a full set? I would have paid it if it was the best full set in the world, but it really wasnt. You could at least include a massage and basic manicure for that price. I didnt look at the price board (my mistake) until I was already getting my tips on. Had I looked when I walked in I would have walked out.The placed seemed to be really busy so people must like going, but my experience was pretty poor.

I’ve been seeing Lilly for about 2 years. She always does a great job, she has a passion for her work and it shows every time I get my nails done. I drive 50 min round trip just to see her, I finally have someone who cares for my nails. The rest of the staff is always pleasant, the owners are sweet. They keep a clean shop, and are always updating and adding to their nail colors.

The overall atmosphere and customer service at Star Nails is amazing! Lily does the most amazing job: she is fast, and the end result is always top notch. As long as I am in Salem, Star Nails has my business!

I absolutely loved everyone inthis nail salon very beautiful people full of smiles! I came here to get a new set because the place i went before messed mine up. The nails I got are beautiful mainly because of the paint job but I do have some negative things to say about them. When I got my full set done, my boyfriend was getting a mani and it took my nail tech almost the same amount of time to remove my old set and finish my new set then it did for him to get his manicure. What Im trying to say is that it was rushed. My nails are VERY thick at the tips there is also a lot of glue and acrylic everywhere that wasnt cleaned up especially in the back. On one of the nails not enough acrylic was added in the middle/it wasnt blended out so there is an indent across the nailShe did a wonderful job painting them with shellac but then after cured she filed the sides and the polish is missing all onthe sides. The nails werent properly measured so some nails are completely different sizes and also do not match up even slightly with the other hand. My boyfriend and I both got a pedicure and I have nothing negative to say about it. Very very great! The only odd thing is that they asked us to use the same foot sponge, luckily neither of us have germs! LolI would come back mainly because of how wonderful the environment is. My nail tech was so sweet. The nails arent terrible if looking at from a distance but I have been getting my nails done for a long time and I notice the flaws.

$20 to add Gel on top of my full set. I didnt go for it because most places only charge $5. But overall, my nails turned out beautiful and well shaped. Got them done by a guy there who was very nice and let me know what was going on throughout the whole service. Very beautiful salon as well.

Had an appointment at 5:45. Arrived on time, waited a little while, picked out nail color and sat down in the pedicure chair at about 5:50. Maybe even a little later than that. Wasn’t ever asked what type of pedicure we wanted. There was no scrub, hot wax, etc. and the effort was minimal. The pedicure was done at 6:09, to our surprise. When asked about it, we were told we had to have an appointment for a longer one (had an appointment) and were told that it was a half hour (not a half hour). Wish we still had our $60 and stayed home.* I’m not complaining about the appointment not starting right at 5:45. I’m just pointing out that it only lasted maybe 19 minutes at best and was lacking any effort.Go to Serenity Salon on Commercial - top notch and great staff!

Very fast and they lady seemed to know what she was doing. I paid 50$ for gel acrylic and she only used gel nail polish. IF YOU PAY EXTRA FOR GEL MAKE SURE THEY USE GEL “ACRYLIC” AND NOT POLISH. I was very mad at that. When she was done I noticed the nails where very “big” and looked sloppy. She left nail glue all over my fingers and the acrylic separated from my nail shortly after.

Star Nails...where do I start. Ive been a customer now maybe 15 yrs. During my early years a remember I went through a period I dreaded driving across town for an appt. After trying maybe 1/2 dozen other salons I couldnt get back fast enough!Star Nails continue to maintain a level of professionalism above so many others.Friendly, caring staff have nail techniques ahead of so many salons.Star Nails is on trend and offers a selection of services, while maintaining a modern clean salon.Family friendly too. With that in mind we must remember that there are patrons there alsofor services. There is no daycare.

Came for my very first acrylic nail appointment after a recommendation from my sister in law. My female nail technician acted almost annoyed to have a customer even though I had scheduled an appointment.Will never return, she answered a phone call during our appointment, she spoke very quickly and I couldn’t understand her, and she overall seemed very unhappy to be there and getting paid. I don’t know how a nail appointment is supposed to go- I have never been to one! Please slow down and explain things I may not understand.I went to a different salon for a nail fill after multiple of my nails popped off, and the gentleman there was confused about why the acrylic nails didn’t extend over my full nail. He did an amazing job. I will never return!

Wish I could give a negative. I went for a manicure yesterday. Just a manicure $15 with a french tip nail paint ($5 extra) and a $5 tip. I thought the guy did an ok job. But the first time I put my hands in water the paint started chipping. No BASE coat, no TOP coat. Didnt even last a day. $25 spent and I need to paint my own nails a day later. Very disappointed and feel ripped off!

For the most part, they do a nice job on manicures, but the service is definitely lacking. I find many of the people working at Star Nails to be unfriendly and at times very rude. For example, the last time I was there the woman doing my nails answered her cellphone during my manicure and got shellac on my finger from her own wet nails. She didnt even try to get it off my skin. I havent been back since this experience, which is unfortunate because I liked getting nails done at Star Nails.

By far my favorite place to get my nails done Jeniffer is the nail tech that always dose mine (she’s awesome). I never had bad service since iv been going here I always feel welcome when I come in. I’m never let down or disappointed with my nails Jeniffer is the bomb & I will continue to come here to get my nails done🙂

I’ve always had a positive experience when coming to star nails. The staff is always kind and make sure my nails look amazing as well as are exactly what I want!

Paid for the absolute worst acrylic fill Ive ever gotten. Nail tech paid more attention to the netflix on her phone than my fill. Asked her to fix it and she made them worse.

Made appt in advance, but felt rushed out. Didnt clean cuticles up. Barely addressed the nails. Hardly trimmed or shaped anything. Didnt put a good coat of polish on. Could see through in several areas. Felt like I wasted my time and my $40 for a pedi. She even hovered over me when I was signing the receipt, awkward. Walked out of there wondering why the heck I gave a tip. Will not be going back.

Should of read reviews before coming here, felt like i just got ripped off, the uncharged me for solar nails and said they had to do solar for what i wanted, and i know that’s a lie I’ve been to beauty school and solar is just a brand of acrylics, I’ve had an ombré design with regular acrylics before . Plus she made fun of what my nails looked like when i came in, just paid over $100 for my nails when i normally pay $35-45 for same exact thing

Would not come back here.. paid almost $60 for a FILL and my shellac is already peeling and it hasn’t even been 2 weeks yet. called to ask if they would be willing to fix it but they seems uncooperative. also in response to that comment i would definitely never come back. it was still $45 without the nail art which is pretty over priced when u could get one for $20. the lady that did my nails was sweet but whoever has communicated with me from this point forward has been nothing but rude. might wanna work on your customer service!!

My grandma recommended this nail Solon to get a filling done.. I had to pay $40 when I was finished.. Didnt know that getting a filling would cost $40.00??!! My left thumb is shorter then my right too..

Poor service, the man was extremely rude, kept burning me, cutting me, no apologies, wouldn’t fix it. All the tips were half off my finger and didn’t fit, the acrylic was only on parts of my nail. All the nails were different shapes. When he painted them he kept bumping the paint and wouldn’t fix them after i told him. He charged me $40 for a set of acrylics and I have never paid more than $28, for basic pink acrylics. They were also supposed to be matte and they weren’t, I reminded him many times. This is a terrible nail place. I will never go back there and if i could give this place a 0 star rating I would.

I will start off by saying that every single staff member was extremely kind and courteous. I really appreciated that. Everyone was interacting so nicely and smiling and laughing. They didnt just interact with each other which you find at many salons, they truly interacted with customers except my gal. My gal was relatively reserved and thats okay. I wanted a shellac pedicure. I decided to try them out. Their place of business is very well kept and inviting. Its also very spacious so you dont feel crowded.I didnt see a price list that really stood out, although I didnt get a chance to sit long before the gal took me back to the pedicure area.She told me that shellac would be more which I was fully aware since it commonly is more expensive. This was the first experienced where they used like a nail sander to take off previous shellac. During that she got my skin, later I noticed what appeared to be blood on the towel, but didnt notice any on my toes so I thought perhaps it was dye of some sort...until I saw that the gal next to her opened up the towel and clearly thought the same thing and the two of them had an exchange of words. I didnt notice any residual and perhaps should have asked if that was my blood, but alas I did not. All is well. She did have longer nails and whilst hold my toes to paint her nail was jabbing me so hard, after five babies you just learn to breathe through pain so thats what I did. No biggie, although in retrospect I probably should have told her she was hurting me.She did the trimming and prepping then painted my toes all the while I am questioning when the massage is about to happen. I was getting a bit nervous as we neared the end of the painting of the toes since Ive always had painting of the toes last whether or not I received shellac or not. New place, new practices. After toes were done I did finally get massage, about three minutes each leg and foot, which seemed awfully short considering their prices. I will say ultimately toes look good with the exception of the indent on my big toe where the gal was digging the nail into and the spots that had the base color on them, which washed off in the shower with light scrubbing.I was prepared to pay about $50 for shellac since that is typical anywhere else I had gone Usually between $40-$50 for shellac depending on location.Total cost $60. No extras. Some places offer mimosa, water, juice etc...for $60 I would at the very least have expected at least a longer massage.I gave three stars. One star for a well kept business, one star for kind employees and one star for a decent paint job on the toes.Pricing is steep and time spent on actual pedi wasnt long enough in my opinion for the price.Again, I cannot reiterate enough how kind each person who worked there was. That was a definite bonus. I also tipped the gal $10 since the actual paint job she nailed!

I have been here before and that is why I came back. NEVER AGAIN! Worst pedicure ever! It only took the young man who did it 15 minutes to do it. He must have had somewhere more important to be because he had his jacket on and was out the door before I had my flip flops on. That was only two hours after they opened. COLD water soak, no leg scrub, five minute total leg massage with very little lotion which left me with a blister on my little toe, cut on cuticle same toe which required band aids all day because of bleeding (I have photo), pretty sure no sanitizing of soak sink done (he left too quickly), massage chair didnt work-he told me it was too old, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TIPPED OR PAID. Sorry I left without discussing experience with owner.

Upon going into this establishment everything appeared perfect, I did feel slightly rushed in picking out my nail color but understood the reasoning behind rushing me. The nail tech was very nice, and worked very hard on my nails. The woman sitting by me not only kept speaking about political topics but also continued to inform me of what all was medically wrong with me and inform me that since I have chosen to have fewer children I will end up with dementia, this not only made me uncomfortable but appeared to make the staff member whom was doing my nails uncomfortable as well. Shortly after this occured there was a disrupt between customers (one of the customers being the individual that was sitting by me and the other individual being in the group that arrived with me) yet there was no employee interference which caused my PTSD to become very prevalent. Upon exiting the facility, I noticed my nails were slightly lumpy, uneven and the squoval (squared with rounded corners) shape was inaccuate. I have been getting my nails done at various establishments over the past 15 years as well as attending cosmetology school and being proficient in shaping nails. The nail tech that did my nails did do her best job, however does seem to need more training.

Around 3:30pm, moderately busy and I was just there to get a pedicure. As I walked in through the doors, I quickly got told to sit and wait. No big deal, mom and I picked a color. Peticure was okay. I wasn’t asked what type of peticure I wanted but also not big deal, it was short but okay not memorable but not terrible. Mid way I asked if they had time and space for a mani cure, the lady said yes. So I decided to go for it. The manicure was done at like 4:30 i waited until 5 to leave but still careful with the manicure. I placed them in the fan but unfortunately two got ruined, so my fiancé took me back to get them fixed. I wasn’t mad, I didn’t want anything for free or my money back, all I wanted was to get them fixed.I walked in trying to talk to the lady that did my nails and wanted to explain that I waited and was being careful but two got ruined if she could fix them. Before the lady could answer The girl next to her responded sarcastically you should have waited longer and as I tried to explain that I knew that and that I did wait, the girl started to become more rude and loud at me.All I was trying to do was explain and be kind to them. she made me cry because of how rude and demeaning she was being when I wasn’t being rude, I wasn’t asking them to do it for free and I wasn’t mad at anyone. When I talked to the lady about how rude the girl was being all she did was laugh at me.Same place.. bad ideaI had to get the nails fixed so I did. I got them done at 6pm and left at 7pm (got kicked out at 7). Now being 9:30 the nails that did not mess up and have been done since 4:30pm are still wet and at least 3 have wrinkled. AND with the fan they placed me under the rest of the nails have a bunch of small air bubbles.I wish the other staff, such as the lovely man that helped my mom could be at another establishment, he was amazing.I cannot say the same for the two other people that helped me.I do not recommend. Complete waste of my money and time.

Worst situation ever. He not only got shellac all over my hands, but managed to cut my finger. Im Calling them in the morning to either get this mess taken care of or get my money back. Im not from here, but generally nails look better (after paying $50 for a simple fill) than looking like I let my blind dog do it.

I went into Star Nails today for a Pedi and Full Set. I am a nail tech myself but am a very busy full time stylist and mom. I had my 10 month old Daughter with me today. Well the lady that did my pedi took MAYBE 10 minutes to do everything. And while that she took tools out of a Frozen tin and then used them and put them back in didnt do the proper steps for disinfection. GROSSED ME OUT. Then proceeds to tell me because I had my daughter regular polish was no good I needed to do Shellac. I said no like 5 times. Then when getting my full set the tips were not put on my free edge properly. So on all but ONE there is a HUGE gap between my nail and the nail tip. I didnt notice this until walking out and getting my daughter in my truck. I called and said I wanted my money put back in my card or refunded the cash that I had paid. All the while getting my full set thankfully one of their daughters and her friends held and played with my daughter. I should have gave them the money that was refunded but I was just angry and ready to get out of there. And when handing me back my money. No let me fix them is what I was told because it wasnt fair to them. Well I have appointments and I spent 2 hours there already. So no I wanted my money back. NEVER will I recommend them. I will continue to tell people about that. And to top it off someone told the gentleman doing my nails that they needed to add $10 for cleaning because my daughter threw her snacks on the floor. AND THEY BLAMMED ALOT OF EVERYTHING ON MY 10 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER. I have more but Ive already written a book. State board has also been notified of the oncompletion of sanitation and disinfection. If there was a lower rating thats what I would give my experience.
