From the initial call to Jim actually completing the work I was blown away. Great rapport from both his family member on the phone as well as himself when he arrived to do the repair on my oven (LG not getting my business again…terrible quality control on their appliances, but I digress). He quickly diagnosed the issue, showed me how he knew it was the problem with a great explanation (igniter was faulty), replaced it and tested it. I waited a few days to write this review so we could test it all out ourselves and my wife’s baking going perfectly sealed the deal.I will definitely give Jim a call again if I have any other issues with my appliances.

Called them on a Saturday and they were at my house around an hour and a half later. 10+ year old refrigerator had stopped cooling. I didnt know the exact model as it was here when I bought the house, but I gave a rough description, which was apparently enough. I apologize that I dont recall the gentlemans name, but he showed up with the exact part that was needed, replaced it very quickly, and the price was what I expected. Fridge has been working perfectly since. He was professional, polite, and safe. I have no complaints and would use them again.

After Arctic wholesale took my $100 and left me with a broken fridge, the guys from upstate came early and were done in 20 min. The price was right (the same price he quoted me on the phone)and the repairman was courteous, prompt, and professional. After being diagnosed with this awful disease I thought that was the worst that could happen but people taking advantage of you in your time of grief and need. The guy at arctic said thats our policy. Ill never call them again. I bought the refrigerator from arctic a few years ago and now I know to call the guys at upstate. I told the guy I had radiation that morning and he accommodated the time, and wished me well before he left. Now thats awesome customer service!

Very professional and friendly at the same time. Came in and fixed the issue within minutes. He gave me tips on how to prevent further issues with my refrigerator. He also answered questions I had about my stove, which wasnt even what he was hired for. I would highly recommend this company and will definitely call for future needs.

I contacted Jim at 4:30 on a Thursday afternoon, and he said he could come Friday at 8:30 - 9:30. He arrived on time and was a true professional. Within 15 minutes he found the issue. He ordered the new part and had it overnighted to my house for the next day. He then checked over the refrigerator to make sure everything else looked good. A truly nice guy that did a fantastic job. I absolutely would recommend him to anybody. Thank you for helping me out!

I had issue with my dishwasher last year. I called Jim and he changed the pump. Again last month the issue started. He came and cleaned the drain where pump was installed. He was supposed to clean that drain last year when he replaced the pump. Next day again I noticed the issue was not fixed. Since last month I have been calling them and they are not even returning my phone calls. I really do not recommend this business.

I had a freezer that wasnt keeping temperature anymore, and was at risk of losing hundreds of dollars of food. I called Upstate, and they scheduled me for an appointment within 24 hrs, with a 2 hour window. They called ahead, were on time, professional, quickly identified the issue, and repaired it right then. He then stuck around to make sure the problem was fixed right, and the freezer temperature started dropping again. The price was very reasonable. I was prepared for a bill that was double or more. I am very handy, and can and have fixed 95% of appliance issues without a professional repairman given time, which I didnt have in this instance. I usually have a distrust of most service companies, having caught multiple people trying to swindle me in the past. I would recommend Upstate to anyone without reservation.

My basic-model refrigerator, now over 10 years old, stopped working over the weekend. After spending time on-line to know my options, I looked into buying a new one. I learned that the price of refrigerators has increased, and Sept. 8th was the earliest I could expect to have one delivered.I also contacted a couple of well-rated repair services and found that I would need to wait until the first of Sept. for a service call. On my third call (late in the day) to Upstate Appliance, my luck changed.Jim, the owner, responded that he could be at my home the next day.He diagnosed and repaired the problem within a very short time, and the cost made it well worth not investing in a new refrigerator.Jim was polite, professional, and easy to communicate with.Not only did he save me the cost of a new appliance, but I dont have to figure out what to do with perishables for the next two weeks!Im happy to write this review. There is nothing like a happy ending to a service call.

Customer service at its best. Called Tuesday afternoon and spoke with Jim. Explained the problem I had with my dryer and got an appointment for Wednesday morning. My review is a bit Late, but I called them back in February after my LG Top Loader broke down. I do laundry weekly so it was a huge deal. Getting a repairman for LG models was a bigger problem. Called Upstate on a Tuesday and they were here by Thursday Morning. The repairman was so nice. Fast. Knowledgeable. My machine was up and running within 10 minutes! The price was EXACTLY as I was quoted over the phone.Highly recommend them and would use them again. Oh did I mention they travelled FROM Gates to Palmyra with NO HESITATION! GREAT SERVICE. I contacted Upstate to repair my washing machine. There were 2 issues. A clogged hose and a leaking valve. I was told I needed to put a deposit down on the part ( ($75), which I did.The repairman arrived, replaced the valve, and told me everything was ok, and the machine was running fine. He was in my house no longer that 15 minutes. The bill was over $220. I commented that the valve must be a very expensive part and he stated, yes, it is.I tried the washer the next day and the warning code indicating a clogged hose. It was not running properly, even though I was told everything was ok. I called Upstate and left voice mail I received a voicemail back the following Monday and was told to call back with the issue. In the meantime, I leaned that this expensive part was under $20. I called a different repair company. ....... I wont call this company againNOTE: On 7-15-2020, I was contacted by Jim from Upstate Appliance. He explained to me that the price for the part was 63.51. There was tax and shipping added, and also the 63.51 was his cost, not the retail price he charges customers. The parts are purchased through Marcone supply and wont use parts bought on Amazon or anywhere else.Further, he stated his labor charge is $125.00 per hour. Even though the tech was here 15 minutes, its still a min of $125.00 labor. He refunded $50.

I initially called upstate for the repair of my ice maker and dishwasher. My ice maker tray would not turn to flip ice out of the tray. My dishwasher wouldn’t empty out the water. The repair guy that was sent, Matt was very nice. I told him my brother said the hose was clogged. He called someone who prompt him to ask if I had a new garbage disposal installed. I did. He made the necessary adjustment. He then told me I needed a new motor for the ice maker that would cost $400.00. I paid a $270.00 deposit, which was posted on my account in 5 min. I later called to check to verify my warranty on the refrigerator. I still had the warranty. I was instructed to change the filter. I went to Home Depot, paid $54.00 for the filter and I have ice. I called Matt to let him know my warranty was active and I no longer needed the motor. I was charged $161.00. It took 2 phone calls before I saw $109.00 returned to my account. Someone who repair appliances for a living didn’t know all I needed was a $54.00 filter? And charged me $161.00 to open up the line to the garbage disposals is honest? I don’t think so!!! I do not recommend upstate appliance!!!!

Amazing! Called this morning with two refrigerators not working and the bottom oven unusable. Was given a time window when the technician, Matt, would arrive. He arrived on time. He had to get parts. I was referred to Upstate Appliance by a friend. Jim was responsive and very friendly. He quickly diagnosed the issue, which unfortunately meant a new compressor for my refrigerator. However, Jim took the time to call around to different suppliers to find me the best price. One supplier he called offered a price that was, in his opinion, too high. He then called another and found one for a lesser amount. Jim just left my house, and the fridge is once again operational. I really appreciated his willingness to shop around for me and make a quick repair. If I need an appliance repair in the future, Ill definitely call Upstate Appliance again.

Our washing machine recently began its downward spiral to its demise and to confirm its death sentence I looked for an appliance technician. When I called Upstate Appliance LLC, I spoke with a man named Jim. Jim was professional, asked a few questions and based on my answers, scheduled a day to have one of his technicians come out to my home. 30 minutes prior to the arrival of Matt, the technician 2 days later, he called to confirm our appointment. Matt showed up, looking professional, (not a suit an tie, but clean) and started his thorough check of our washing machine. Based on his findings, the total cost to fix the washing machine would be less than $100 or so than a new washing machine. Obviously not the news i was looking for, but I trusted his observation. Matt then proceeded to spend a significant amount of time talking about the different washing machines they work on and the ones that are most problematic. We discussed prices, warranty, repair costs, ease of repair, best cleaning, etc. I thanked Matt and began my search for a new washing machine. After spending 5 days of searching online and going to stores, I was more confused than when I started. Do I get a front load, do I get a top load, do I go high end or middle of the road, what size, etc. Buying a washing machine is worse than buying a car. I promise you, there is nothing more frustrating as all the online information contradicts what you find when speaking with an actual appliance tech. Which brings me to another point. I called several appliance companies in the Rochester area, and without naming names, I will say that the best and most patient feedback came from Upstate Appliance and a man named Jim. I have now spoken to Jim 3 times and each time we spoken, he patiently listens as I ask questions and offers sound logical answers to my questions. He is very knowledgeable and professional. With that being said, Jim has helped clear the fog, parse, of the online reviews, the appliance store salespeople (absolutely the worst), problem ridden washing machines, which brands to choose, who makes which brand, and which product ultimately meets the needs of my family. I know this is a long winded review, but I cannot state enough on how pleased I am with Jim from Upstate Appliance. When something goes wrong, which it will, Jim from Upstate Appliance will be our first call.

I scheduled a time for Jim to come out and look at my dryer. He was polite courteous and professional. However after he left, I noticed another issue with my dryer. I called him again, hoping to use his services, as a repeat customer. I scheduled another time for him to come look at my dryer. He never showed, nor did he call. So I called him, to make sure he had my address and hoping he was running behind. He was not. He had misplaced my appointment time for the next day. Okay. No big deal. I agreed to this time as well. Fast forward, to that next day, he never showed again, nor did he call. I called the Upstate Appliance number and left a message with my name, address and phone number, hoping to get a reply back. Terrible service I called to get my refrigerator fixed and apparently the compressor was broken paid 700 dollars to have it repaired waited more than a month and never repaired it. I claimed a refund because I felt like I was never going to get it repaired. They told me I would get back less than half of what I paid I still said yes because I didn’t want to lose all my money. Now I’ve waited over a month as well and still haven’t gotten a refund either.

Called Upstate because of the reviews. Have a Samsung that froze up in the refrigerator section and prevented cooling. Jim came out and presumed the problem was the drain under the evaporator unit, a common problem with Samsung. He put in a metal strap that was about 3/8 wide by 2 inches that looked like it was home made (the Samsung metal clip is about $6.00), around the defrost heater element. He charged us $142 and we figured it wasnt bad to get the fridge repaired. I trusted the guy so I did not watch while he worked. Within a month, the problem returned. We called. He said he would have to get a part and would take a couple of weeks. Called again, he came out and said the part he ordered was not in the box of parts he received, so he could no do anything. I would think before you head out you make sure you got the part. A couple of weeks later he came back and supposedly installed something. While taking the panel apart, there is a foam insulation on the inside back panel. The first time we unplugged the fridge and all the ice melted. This time he came out and said no need to unplug, he had a steaming tool. Well all that ice attached to the foam ripped off some of the foam insulation as he took off the panel. Im not exactly sure if he even put in a replacement part, as the thing froze over within a week. I decided to give up on the guy.I dont know how he got all those stars, must be his friends. And Im not sure he really knows what hes doing. I gave him one star for being polite.I want to further respond to his answer bellow. He did not offer a refund, but offered to pay 1/2 the price for a new refrigerator if we had to buy a new one. This was somewhat strange statement to make from a repair technician and rather hard to believe or credible. I wondered if he actually had damaged it and felt guilty. When we experienced the same problem within a week after he repaired it, I sent him an email telling him about the problem, I got no response. I gave him at least a couple of weeks to respond to the email and nothing happened. I have taken many car engines apart and rebuilt them, I am technically capable. When I removed the back panel in the refrigerator is when I realized the foam insulation was damaged. The foam insulation is molded in such a way as to act as a duct that feeds the cold air from the cold element via a fan to the refrigerator compartment. Now I am not sure if that function will work properly without a new foam insulation unit. The error code started only a couple of days after the part he put in, I am assuming the bimetal sensor, stating it had no power. I though it strange that a part, would last only a couple of days. Yes the problem is the Samsung fridge, that is why we called a technician, why would we call one if the fridge war working fine. When you call a technician, you dont want your money back, you want it fixed.The Samsung was just a month past its warranty. Found out it was a very common problem with Samsung. I called and they didnt respond...they dont care. They may make good phones but their kitchen appliance are absolute garbage...dont even think of buying one unless your are willing to pay over a thousand bucks for something that will last a little over a year.
