I had to make a review after my fifth trip to Joy Nails & Spa. I always leave with an appointment already booked for 2 weeks later. My boss’s wife has been a customer here for a decade and when she told me how I should try it out. So I did. Upon each arrival, the staff is so welcoming, professional, clean, and friendly. It’s a diverse staff with all age groups but very fun personalities. I understand why they seem to have repeat customers I saw they greeted by name. I have been treated like family every visit so far. I’m immediately greeted when I walk in the door by multiple staff members. They got to me quickly after arriving. I got myself a glass of wine as it’s free with a service that’s over $30. The shop has really reasonable prices. Shortly after I was walked to the spa chair and got my pedicure. They are really personable so it’s a relaxing and comfortable pedicure. I work in construction engineering and being on your feet all day it’s necessary in my opinion to take care of your feet, it improves your quality of life. I definitely recommend this place to everyone who wants to experience top tier relaxation. Always satisfied, will see you all in 2 weeks!

Overall I really liked it, the location seemed clean, big and required masks.The nail tech conversation was a bit awkward as I kept telling her I was in the middle of getting divorced when she asked if I was married, which happened several times during the pedicure. She was nice enough but not the type of exchange I prefer having when trying to relax.

The Owner appears to have issues with dark skin (thats the only reason that I can ascribe to his bullying behavior.) I dont know him. Never met him before. There is no history. And no, I am not paying for any more microaggressions against me or my mother. This was my third, and final, time getting service in this shop. One of the technicians is a favorite and I followed her to Joy(less). The first I encountered this guy, he was simply rude. On my second visit, he asked me to get up from the clents chair, which I did thinking that this was a Covid related issue. No, he just wanted to assert some kind of dominance and parked himself in the seat that I had just vacated. During my final visit, he asked my elderly mother to move out if the customerchair next to me. She has balance issues and nearly toppled over. He claimed he needed the seat. He moved her into a opposite my chair that housed my keys and purse. I had asked not to touch my things. He did do anyway. Needless to say, after insisting my mother move, no one took that vacated seat. Thats right. It stayed empty. Bully.

Excellent experience for my first visit. A referral from one of my clients. The were so patient and helpful with me and my indecisiveness lol. Also had a very relaxing deluxe pedi. Would definitely recommend this salon!!

After not having my nails done since pre-COVID, I was so glad to find Joy Nails. They are taking COVID precautions seriously, requiring masks for everyone, which is very important for me. I was also so pleased that they could get me in for a same-day appointment. I got a basic pedicure and a dip powder manicure and worked with two different artists, both of whom did a great job. The salon is clean and comfortable, the selection of polish colors and manicure options is impressive. The decor is colorful and fun. There is ample free parking out front and the salon is conveniently located near Willow Lawn. I would definitely recommend Joy Nails. 💅

Tried this place on a recommendation and was extremely disappointed. Not only is the polish of poor quality, but Im not sure anyone here knows how to paint nails properly. Wasted an hour and 45 minutes for a basic pedicure and gel that is not well applied. To try and fix a mistake, my tech literally cut a piece of one of my nails off, which looks ridiculous and will take forever to grow back to normal. Do not go here, save your money or go to Escape or Fusion for nails that actually look good and last.

Don’t even bother the lady I spoke with on the phone said to come in I didn’t need an appointment I advised I was on my lunch break and she said to remove my dip nails they could work me in so I came and sat for 15 minutes and the guy was just on his cell phone the whole time didn’t tell me how long it would be I sat for 15 minutes and asked him how long he said another 20 minutes. I told him I couldn’t wait that long and he said ok and looked at me like I was dumb. Definitely won’t be going back there to have my nails done. Ever.

They are one of the most professional nail salons in Richmond and their staff hasnt let me down yet meaning every other week I get my fill-ins and Ive had a different nail technician each time and every time I have been very pleased with how well my nails look so they have it all if you ask me great techs, very well cleaned establishment, professionalism, good customer service and Ive never waited more then 20-30 min only when they were busy with a full house! I definitely recommend anyone who wants good nails at a decent price and all within a good time frame check out Joy Nails!

This was the worst experience I have ever had at a nail salon. My friends and I arrived on time to our 5 pm appointment. We waited around 15 minutes until we were seated. We then waited another 45-55 minutes. (One of my friends didn’t get serviced until 6:15, I was serviced at 6 and the other was 5:50). They apologized for the wait, but we did not feel that an apology was enough compensation for the long wait time. My friend asked for a discount and was told we could be given a 5% discount. The pedicure was average, but the person giving me mine kept getting up and leaving throughout the service. I got my gel manicure and unfortunately they turned out lumpy and thick. My friend hadn’t even had her nails painted yet by the time I finished, around 7. After seeing my nails, my friend no longer wanted to continue with the manicure. When I went to show her my nails, the person giving her a manicure had walked away and was gone for nearly 10 minutes. We told the person who offered us a 5% discount that that was not enough for the poor service we received and she became irritated and argued with us about the situation. I told her I don’t want to argue, but that this situation was not acceptable. Her behavior was very unprofessional. We settled on being charged $40 per person (the pedicure is originally 28 and the gel manicure is 30). As we were paying, after we had agreed on a price, she continued to complain to us about how she felt it was unfair. She told us that many customers had to wait long times—even some up to two hours and said that we should just be more understanding like other customers had been. I explained that overbooking is a fault of a business manager not the customer, but once she continued arguing through us paying I told her to stop arguing with us and that we just wanted to leave. The expectations from a nail salon is to be relaxed and my friends and I left feeling drained and disrespected. If you choose to use this salon be aware that they will not take accountability for their faults—it will be a struggle to get compensated for poor service.

Overall very impressed! Just moved to Richmond and this was my first time trying this salon out. I scheduled a 5:30PM appointment but came a little early. They were able to take me. I got a gel mani and a volcanic pedicure. The place was clean and I felt like they took COVID seriously which I appreciated. I will be a return customer for sure.

Ok so this shop is by far one of the best in the area! Always clean, pretty quick if you don’t mind just going to any nail tech, and they are usually pretty solid with appointments! I’m very particular about my nails and the nail tech I set appointments with is the bomb! She’s so good I won’t post her name lmbo because I can’t have y’all tryna set appointments with her, taking my spot LOL! But seriously ... give this shop a try, I’ve been to a couple of the nail techs and they were not bad ... I’m pretty sure you’ll find one who does your nails the way you like!

I used to frequent this shop. I was loyal to them for a year until a fill in cost me I was livid, I have never paid that much for a fill. To keep my self respect, I gave them the $130.00 and NEVER returned. Guess that girl had a bill to pay or something that day. Beware of the sudden price hikes and the decrease in quality of work the longer you go here. Although it seems that should work the other way.

I felt like she rushed thru my pedicure and was not very personable at all. My friend got in the chair BEFORE me & was also still in the chair AFTER me and she paid for the exact same type of pedicure that I did... My person didnt do a good massage & the stones werent even warm.. just a lite disappointed.

Joy nails is large and pleasant. As a walk in, there was no waiting during lunch hour on a Wednesday. Kane did my Essential Spa Pedicure. She was lovely, friendly thorough and did a beautiful job. I will request her if possible each time I go.

It was as if I took $250 and through them in the trash. My pedicure came off as soon as I got home. The beautician who worked on my pedicure ruined a new pair of sandals I was wearing by dropping nail polish on it and then trying to remove. They charged us for my 8 year niece a full price mani-pedi for only applying nail polish and gave us so much attitude when we asked them to reapply some of the nail polish after they got messy on one of her fingers.In total, bad attitude waste of money and unprofessionalism.

Since moving here a few months ago I have been searching frantically for a good nail salon. Please know I AM EMBARRASSED by how picky I am..... and this place is amazing. Surpassed all expectation and LISTENED to what I asked for. Tina slays, I cannot speak to the other techs, but this place is friendly, clean, and has been around forever apparently. Tina has been working at this salon for 26 years. Definitely give this place a try and ask for Tina!!!!!

I used to love this place.... many years ago, I lived in this salon. NOW? SMH... the owner is on a seriously high horse and has horrible customer service (he didnt use to). The major problem comes from my husbands and I got pedicures. His started easily 15 20 minutes before mine... why did we finish at the same time? 10 minute stone massage? Nope... and she left off my top coat polish. I had to do it at home. $36? I shouldve paid 20... she was rude. Went through the motions. She doesnt belong in this field. And joy nail will never see my business again. Im highly disappointed. Dont spend your money with them.

Dont judge a book by its cover. All that glitters is not gold. The shop is beautiful. For the most part, they do very good work. However, the femfemale owner didnt even know my name and she did my nails for at least two years. I did notice she knew her other customers name of the other hue. I started to feel that I was a means to an end. Money is the game there. The owners, husband and wife need to be trained in customer service. I will never stop foot on that establishment again.

If you are looking for a comfortable spa to relax with a glass of wine while having a manicure and pedicure then Joy Nails is the place for you. I am very pleased. I recommend Nee Nee. Enjoy!

I was told rudely ‘go sit over there’ while having my nails soaked off. I was trying to relax and enjoy the chair massage with my daughter. Not allowed to sit there? No manners? Not getting my money any more!

I gave it 2 stars because the workmanship is fairly good, but the customer service would not get any stars. I called and was given one price after I detailed what I needed. I arrived, sat in chair and then the price begins to go up. Then all of a sudden the price for the fill in has now jumped to $40.00. That is the price of a full set gel nails. This is said after the polish is off and i have no other choice but to get the complete $40.00 service. So pricing went from $24.00 to $40.00 in 10 minutes. I will not be back because of that. Consistently with the pricing is a must. And then they have the nerve to have a special banner that says fill ins $12.99.....not even valid. Beware.

They were great!! They dont care about just making money. My niece had a great time, shes only 9 and every decision she tried to make they ran it by me for my approval which I liked and told me the prices before hand. And their so affordable and do an amazing job!!! Anyone looking for a great affordable nail shop go here. Im not a nail shop expert since I dont get mine done often from a tragic experience I had at the very first one I went to but my second older sister takes me almost every time she comes to visit. I have gone to this location for several years. Tina has always been my nail technician. Nancy does the design on my nails when wanted. The shop is always neat, clean, very professional and you can really see the money received from customers is also put back into this location. I invite everyone to this location. I am in town for a wedding and needed somewhere to get my toes done. I went here because of the reviews I read. I went at 11am on a Friday, and found it busier than I expected. All the employees had their hair pulled back, had on uniform robes, and were wearing face masks and gloves. Very sanitary.My pedi was amazing, and I was offered wine with my service. They did an amazing job with my toes, and I wish i had had time to do my nails as well because all of the customers walking out had great looking nails. Highly recommend for toes.

Love this place

I had a great experience. Came in on a Thursday around 230 and was helped right away. Purchased the deluxe pedi and was very satisfied. The massage with this package was very extensive and they used all sanitary sealed products. The girl who did my nails named Kane was very talented. I really enjoyed the foot massage and she did a great job with the polish. The only down side is that they accept cash only for tips. I will remember this for next time. I also really appreciated the complimentary glass of wine and the fact that there were no televisions. This made for a very relaxing experience.

Stopped by at 12:30 for a pedicure. Im new to Richmond so I rely heavily on google reviews. They have a few options. I opted for the deluxe because I love when hot stones are used. It was $35. Its nice they use liners for the bowls.They offer a glass or wine or soda if you spend $35 or more. That was a nice surprise!I was a little dissapointed my tech didnt speak English, but since my family is Vietnamese, I understand.It was overall a good experience. Ill definitely be back.Side note: **** BRING CASH to TIP! Dont be that person. There is a Food Lion next door with an ATM.

I used to love going here until they redid the place after that service went downhill. I went with my daughter, best friend and her daughter. First off, I told them to only paint my daughters nails they put acrylic on her nails and charger me 25 for an 8 year olds nails. Why they thought it was okay is beyond me. It was also my daughters first time getting her nails done so she was nervous but they put us far away from eachother so when Id turn my head to check on my daughter the rude nail tech would tell me to turn around. My nail tech also looked like work was the last place she wanted to be she was unfriendly and frankly did a poor job. I used to tell everyone about this place now Im looking for a new nail place to get my nails done.

Would be five stars but I got someone who was clearly in training. No offense to that nail tech she was very professional just not the fastest or most confident nail tech I’ve ever had. The customers on either side of me were devout regulars who swore by this place. One woman got something called Holographic nails and it blew my mind it looked so good. My tech did a great job and I am probably going to go back. Very professional and not sleazy - not your typical nail salon but still low fair prices. Gel manicure $25!

If I could put no star I would ! The employees at this salon are so RUDE! If you want to pay people to treat you rudely this is your spot.I came in Friday 5/30/19 to have one single nail repaired. It wasnt too busy and there was a few technicians not with a custom. I was greeted with what do you need!By A very rude woman with fake blue eyes and poorly colored blonde hair. She couldnt have cared less about My one nail being repaired and had me standing there looking foolish as she ignored me until Another woman asked how can We help you?.I told Her I needed one nail repaired and she then told the rude woman who originally brushed me off to take Me. She smugly told Me to sit down and proceeded to wrap My nail to remove My chipped polish. She then had The nerve to ask Me why I didnt just go to the salon that did them originally to have Them repair it. I explained to Her that in was in Virginia beach and I lived Here and didnt feel Like driving two hours to have one nail repainted and That I knew anyone there was capable of painting one nail for Me . She was shocked I responded back to her with The same attitude she gave Me. Then she said another woman would be completing My service as she was too busy with a custom coming for an appointment and was just killing some time with Me till her client showed up.I told Her I didnt care who did it as long as It was done. I sat in another chair and this woman who refused to speak to me when I spoke to Her . she finished My one nail which took all of 15 minutes tops . She said it was $3.00, So I handed Her my debit card she said I cant take your card for anything under $10.00, She then said something nasty in Vietnamese to the first rude woman and rolled Her eyes at Me, So I suggest she ring me up for more than that amount and that would be Her tip. She said No I can go to the ATM in the salon which was fine with Me . I gave Her $ 20.00 and told Her to keep the change . She obviously needed the money more than I did since she felt My one nail wasnt worth Her time and gave Her the right to treat Me rudely.When people treat you like garbage You dont have to stoop to their level but show them that kindness and professionalism is important and they should understand that no matter how much they think someone is going to spend. I told Her I hoped Her day got better and called them rude As I walked out.I will never return and warn Everyone I meet going near there to stay away! Joy nail staff Should be ashamed of themselves and their impolite staff!! I will stick to The higher end salons near My house in tuckahoe and stay away from low brow shopping centers like this one.

On previous occasions I visited this particular location on a regular basis. Service was always adequate and reasonably priced. However, I recently returned for a pedicure and manicure. Two of my nails, after two days, were snagged on the side and bubbling at the cuticle. The manager was really nice about rectifying the situation. However, the nail technician was very rude as evident by her body language and accusatory tone. The technician attempted to remove particles from the nail polish without success as it was placed and painted at the base of my nail. After several attempts, she became aggravated and ignored the bubbled polish with particles in the paint at the base of my nail. I brought this to her attention and she called me a complainer and proceeded to talk about me to her coworkers in a different language. I was not complaining. I simply informed her that I did in fact notice the particle she attempted to remove, but she argumentatively insisted it was my cuticle. Im not a nail technician, however I do know the difference between particles/dirt/fragments in polish versus my cuticle.I was completely offended by her abrasive approach. It was far from welcoming/polite as she turned her back and conversed with her co-workers about me. I have no plans of returning. Hopefully she can adjust her mood and improve her social and interpersonal skills. After all it is customer service. What happened to general respect for others?

I got my eyebrows waxed here this weekend. The woman rushed through it in under two minutes, which made me nervous, and she didn’t take the time afterwards touching them up. Now, my eyebrows are two different thicknesses. Definitely would not recommend here for waxing

Nice work. Very sanitary. Got a pedicure with hot stone massage. Very thorough and spa-like (lasted about 1.5 hrs) and my feet look great. $40. Language barrier a bit awkward. Blaring pop music.

My experience at Joy Nails has not been a good experience. I am a relationship person and enjoy consistency in working with one technician who understands my needs . At my first appointment, the technician was kind and professional. I made a follow up appintment by phone and when I arrived, I learned she was off that day. I was offered another tech and when I made a followup appoitnment with her, the same thing happened. Being willing to give second and third chances, I tried again . Yesterday I was disappointed once again when my technician did not show for a scheduled appointment. Im done with Joy Nails .

Paid 47 dollars for a job my baby sister could of done. Im not very picky but not one nail is painted correctly. Every single finger and toe has polish in the cuticle line. The salon was fairly clean however the buffer she used was not. The tools were in an opened sterilization bag. My least favorite part of the services was that she did not speak any English at all I asked her for clear and she had no idea what that meant I understand the language barrier and I can respect it, however not understanding one word in the English dictionary is not OK with me. I will not refer anyone or return.

The girl who did my nails did a good job, was real friendly and offered me something to drink. Atmosphere is nice and calm. I called ahead for a price on gel mani/pedi and a guy picked up to tell me it was going to be $15 for gel manicure. It turns out that its actually $25. I was having a good time until I found out the actual price :/ I wish hed told me when I called. They have an atm inside the salon which is nice, but Im taken aback on the whole thing.

Hello.I am usually particular about going to new places but I read reviews and decided to give them a try. I got my nails and toes doneMy nails were filled all diffrent sizes. And when i got my toes done i didnt get provided the shoes so my feet wouldnt get messed up which they did but the lady fixed it. She was very nice. Then the next day i went back because three of my nails paint had came off i told the lady i would pay to get it fixed i just wanted it to get fixed she was rude. I tried to have conversation with her and she didnt want to talk or anything . if u dont want to deal with people then dont do customer service .if it wasnt for your customers you wouldn`t succed .I was very upset i started to just walk out .P. s i told her to just fix one i would fix the other. And she did not give me a top coat smh. Would not recommend them 😠😠😠😠

Got my nails done here and the nail tech did not properly know how to do a manicure nor did she do a good job polishing the manager had to have someone else do another full manicure cause the 2nd tech said look like she didn’t do a manicure. The next day the gel polish started to come off I went back for a repair and the manager Johnny told me I had to pay $3 because the original nail tech was not there or I could come back the next day. Poor customer service when I had just paid $25 for a gel manicure less the 24hrs

I was put with someone that didnt know what she was doing. The shape the color it was all messed up. I had to wait for the manager to fix my nails again. Then there a sign that says you get wine with service over $30. I paid $45 no wine ...smdh never again
