We had an urgent brake issue on a Saturday afternoon that could have really delayed our sightseeing and travels. These guys were open and said to bring the truck right in. 15 minutes later they had diagnosed and fixed the problem. It would have been easy for a business to take advantage of our situation but these guys were totally honest, professional, and ethical. We are very grateful and can definitely recommend them.

They didn’t have a guy there to do an oil change but an over qualified guy said he had a few minutes and could do it. I really appreciated him taking the time even though he didn’t get paid to do this. I should have tipped him more. They are beyond nice there, professional and I will tell everyone about them! They were very friendly & helpful with my car concerns. The pricing was excellent. Paid under $50 for an oil change & tire rotation. They even checked my coolant due to my concerns from when I was out of state & the vehicle tried to over heat twice while in the mountains. It was in excellent condition & most likely happened because I was pushing the engine to hard to get more speed while climbing a strap incline.Will be going back to Meineke should I have any concerns & to do my vehicles maintenance work aka oil change & such.

Just called to get a quote on some repairs. I already knew what the problem was, but was told theyd need to look at it first before they could tell me. When I said itd been looked at at another shop, i was rudely told, it wasnt our shop who had looked at it. When I pressed for a ballpark figure, I was very rudely told he wouldnt give me that. I definitely wouldnt use this place just because I was treated so badly on the phone. Very disappointed.

Was 1,500 miles from home on a 3 day road trip. About 200 miles out of Rapid (as the locals call it), my car was pulling hard left and the front end was shaking awful. My buddy and I were worried that vehicle repairs would ruin the whole trip or have us there well past our small window. Saturday morning, drove to one national chain at opening, closed on Saturday although the web said otherwise. Found the next chain, booked for today but could bandage it to limp it 1,500 miles home. Asked a local police officer for a reputable local repair shop. Enroute to the local shop, we seen all bay doors on Meineke open with an employee making his morning rounds. We pulled in, instead of using the local. Great choice too. After explaining the situation, he did not hesitate to accommodate us and get us back on the road ASAP. Unfortunately, I live to far for this to be my local shop, but next time Im traveling to South Dakota, if I have vehicle repairs that can wait, I will definitely get them done there. Thanks again! We made Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, and home right on time!

We had some issues with our brakes while on vacation. The store manager let us know that we could make it home before we had to fix the brakes, but offered a quick turnaround (1 hour) and a very good price. We stayed in the shop while the job was done and witnessed the same great service given to every customer who came in after we did. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone needing work Don in the Black Hills area.

So grateful for this Meineke! While on vacation with our camper our brakes went out in our truck. We were an hour from them when we called to see if they could get us in and he got us right in at 2:00 on a Saturday! We had to replace our pads, rotor, caliper CV axle and they got it all done before they closed, so happy they were able to help us and get us back on the road safely! We highly recommend this place! Went in and it was the fastest oil change ever!!!! Ryan and his team were so fast and Efficient I didnt feel like I was being sold of everything which in the past many places felt that way . Ryan Informed me the whole time before they even started . And I must say the prices are cheaper than anyone else I called in town . Free tire Rotation and they filled up my windshield wiper fluid with no cost. All the places I called wanted to charge 20 to 24 dollars just for a tire Rotation. So I will dinfently be coming back here .

On our trip to South Dakota, our brakes started smoking really bad through Custer State Park. Brought our van to Meineke to be inspected before continuing on our road trip. I was in and out with no problems for an oil change. What sold me even more though was while I was waiting, another customer brought his car in because it was making a sound. The mechanic took a look, drove it, figured it out, came back and said no damage was actually being caused and replacement wasn’t necessary at this time. The customer asked how much to go ahead and replace, close to $1000. Customer said never mind and asked how much for the appointment and the mechanic didn’t charge him because he said he didn’t really do that much but figure out the noise. Nice.

Could not or would not help a stranded traveler! Good luck if you break down near Rapid City, SD. While Meineke did offer to get me in for a quick brake check late the next day, that is not much of an offer for a stranded traveler, and every other shop I called including the Chevy dealer would not do anything for 2 weeks. I’m from out of town and needed an emergency type of oil change, so I called and was able to get in the morning after, which was great. Service was good with the exception of telling me that I needed full synthetic oil vs semi-synthetic, my Cadillac SUV with only 5600 miles on it is running very rough now. I called the Cadillac service department to ask them what type of oil they use (unfortunately, after the fact), and they said to use semi-synthetic. The Meineke guy told me Cadillac suggested full synthetic, not true. I’m 14 hours away from home with the wrong type of oil, and very nervous. I’m hoping my somewhat brand new vehicle will make it without incident. I’m also hoping that the few extra dollars that are charged for full synthetic was worth putting my life in jeopardy. The best shop experience in Rapids City,, SD.Took a 800 mile trip to South Dakota during Sturgis week with my friend.On the way out there our AC started to fail in 90 degree weather pulling a popup camper. It was Friday so the earliest appointment was in 3 days. I booked it.However while getting to our campsite 30 min from Rapid City, SD the rear of my SUV was making grinding noises and smelled bad. Every shop was closed for the weekend except a couple. So on Saturday I took my SUV to a different shop. After a long wait, almost the whole day the other shop said my rear axle had metal shavings in it and was no longer safe to drive. Had to get to the airport and rent a car. Not much was available.I called Meineke up to cancel my AC appointment since I was told my SUV had to go to the junk yard. They were so helpful and offered to tow my vehicle there for a second opinion. So I kept my appointment and got the vehicle to there shop. After they had a chance to look it over it turned out to be a simple fix of the brakes. NOT the rear axle. They got my AC working again and we were on our way.I can not thank this shop enough for everything they did to make my vehicle safe and get me 800 miles home during a very busy time of year!I would highly recommend this shop if you are in need of honest safe vehicle repair.

This review is long overdue but better late than never.  I was moving cross country with my dog back in October 2020 when I ran into car trouble. My car is a Ford and I originally went to the Ford Dealership in Rapid City only to be met by an extremely rude gentlemen who basically told me he was too busy to look at my car and it would be two weeks before they could see me.  I called several other places in town  and they wouldnt be able to see me for a couple of days; however he noted that it prob wasnt wise to continue driving.  I ended up driving by Meineke and decided to stop and see if they might be able to help.  By this point I was very upset and stressed as I wasnt sure what I was going to do, especially with an 85 pound dog and the chance of snow that afternoon.  Im from CA and not used to driving in snow.  When I walked in, Ryan Gilson was so friendly and helpful.  He helped me calm down (I was crying and very worked up) and suggested a diagnostic to determine what my check engine light meant.  Once they knew the issue, he called around to a few places locally to see if the part was available which luckily they were.  Marty Hagen, the shop foreman, was able to get my car fixed and running just fine within a few hours.  I can not thank these two enough for the kindness and compassion they extended to me (and my dog) that day when I was stressed and scared.  Not only did they get my car up and running but they were very honest and open about the pricing and didnt try and take advantage of the situation by selling me on things I didnt need. If I ever find myself back in Rapid City, Meineke will be my choice for any future car issues. Thank you Ryan and Marty for helping me out that day.

Ryan was amazing very friendly, got us in right away. Took us back in the shop and showed us the problem physically which in my lifetime I’ve never had happen when taking a car to a shop. Helped us work out a situation and even loaned us his personal van to get a new tire. Honestly was amazing for us and talked to us the whole time we waited.

Scheduled appt with vehicle info and showed up next day and was told they cannot change oil because they did not have the oil on hand?? Was told not to go there but thought i would give it a shot for something simple. I will just go across the street to dodgetown and get the oil that they couldnt do??

I originally took my car to this shop to diagnose a particular code being thrown, they pin pointed the problem to one of the coil packs, problem solved $600 later (outrageous for coil packs but no else could get us in).Fast forward to last week when we needed someone to install our new a/c compressor. There’s only two shops in town that install customer supplied parts and Meineke was the only shop that had availability. After the compressor was installed, the tech noticed that the belt was squealing at which point he applied “belt conditioner” to bandaid the issue. My wife said as she rode down the road away from the shop the car began to squeal again at which point I called Meineke the next day and asked why they would let the car leave knowing something might be wrong. Ryan explained that using belt conditioner is standard practice for them (red flag).He ate the cost and put on the OEM belt to try and fix the issue without consulting with us first. If he would have asked us about the belt he would have found out my car has a high output alternator with an overdrive pulley that requires a smaller belt (it was working flawlessly before we had to replace the compressor). With the oem belt, the drive belt system under load was making a horrible rumble grinding noise which was audibly noticeable, yet they let it leave the shop like this once AGAIN (this is why I am so dissatisfied with this shop and don’t trust them).My last mechanic specifically wrote by the drive belt “new belt model740”. I asked Ryan why his tech didn’t see this or question the customer about it his response was “I don’t care what the customer/mechanic writes we follow OEM” but in a arguable tone; at which point we were just bickering because I couldn’t believe my ears. A simple question could have prevented a SECOND return. I’ll say it again a second time for Ryan. The reason for my extreme dissatisfaction is because twice my car had an audible problem leaving this shop, and Ryan wanted to act like I was in the wrong for this.Memorable quotes by Ryan: “We added belt conditioner and didn’t notice any noises pulling your car out after” & “it wasn’t making any noise when we finished” two outrageous statements, two different occasions.Avoid this shop. There’s other mechanics in rapid city that will do better work.

We were on vacation in the Black Hills. Noticed our van was vibrating when braking going downhill. Took it to Meineke and arrived 30 minutes before the shop was scheduled to open. We explained to Ryan what was happening and they opened the shop up early to take a look. They quickly diagnosed the problem and had the repair completed in an hour. Saved our vacation or at least renting a very expensive rental car.

Traveling north from Indianapolis for a family emergency, my oil change light came on. I had forgotten to get it changed before the long road trip. Once I made it here I had some time before the hotel was ready. They were very patient and kind. Ryan was able to get my car in quickly. They got me in quickly. Verified the information that I had been told by Coreys Point S. But were still able to perform the alignment I needed. And did try to price gouge me like Coreys Point S tried to do. My mechanic even let me look at the issue that stopped Coreys point S from doing my alignment and its not even as bad as they made it sound and wanted to charge me close to $1500.00 for parts and labor for my ball joints which are not in need of replacement yet. Im impressed that they did the alignment and like I said did not try to line their pockets.

In addition, Ryan had an awesome personality and he was extremely welcoming and inviting, I am from out of town and it was quite refreshing to deal with someone who seemed genuinely happy to help. To wrap it all up and put a bow on the whole service, he worked with me and gave me the best possible price and even went above and beyond and fixed a few unexpected things free of charge, and he did all this within an hour and a half. I recently moved to Rapid City and scheduled an oil change after driving half way across the country. These guys were amazing! Super efficient and helpful. My oil change was done on time and took less than an hour. I heard a knocking in my tire and they checked it out and found out my axle was broken. We has to drive to Denver the same day to pick up my son. Even though they were down two techs, they rescheduled us and got it fixed immediately. I am so grateful, in NJ I would not have gotten my car back for days. The oil change and axle repair were both done in less than 2 hours. We hit the road safely thanks to these guys. My kids said the car drives better than ever. You guys rock!

My husband and I were on vacation in the Black Hills. We just bought a new car prior to leaving for vacation. We were having some troubles that we thought were the brakes and/or the wheel bearing. We called about 20 different mechanics to see if they could get our car in, every place was booked till the end of the month. We called Meineke and they got us in right away the next morning. They test drove our car, and inspected it, to find out it was the tires. They were very kind in helping us find a place to do our tires. Meineke was very professional, clean, and awesome to work with! I would recommend them over and over again!

I was super disappointed. The website states you get all these discounts. It also states you need to have them printed in order to use them. I showed up and the two guys at the desk said they don’t need a copy of the coupon. The cost was double what I was expecting and they didn’t do all 4 breaks like I asked. I called them right away after leaving because it still doesn’t feel the best and found out they only did the back. The guy on the phone said the front looked fine but stumbled around and never gave me any idea how bad the fronts actually were. The previous mechanic I had not even a month prior said they all were needed. The receipt does not show any breakdown of the cost and what percentage I supposedly saved. They claimed they gave me a 50 percent discount instead of 30.00. I should of known when I pulled up and there wasn’t a car in there entire shop that that was a sign. Just super disappointed and I would not recommend this place.

The front desk guy was real nice and helpful, however when they gave me my car keys and said I was good to go, i went to leave and my car was making a terrible metal crunching noise when I turned the steering wheel, so I brought the keys back in I told the front desk guy that something is not right, well the mechanic takes the car back in and turns out he bent the dust plate thing while doing the alignment, how he didnt hear the noise or feel the issue in the steering wheel is beyond me, or did he hear or feel it and just hope Id still drive away, very unprofessional!

As a pet transporter, when my vehicle has issues, stress levels climb. This happened Saturday afternoon. Local dealerships were closed and the grinding on my wheel indicated something serious. I found Meineke through a referral of a sales rep at the Liberty Dodge Dealership. On my arrival at Meineke, I was immediately seen and a diagnosis given. My wheel bearing needed replacement. However, there wasn’t one auto parts store in SD with the part. They called around and found one in Denver and ordered to arrive on Tuesday.I was immediately put at ease knowing I was in good hands. They went above and beyond I thought at the time. I was wrong. That Monday, I called the local dealership and found they had the needed parts. Taking them over to Meineke, they again took me right in. Not long into the repair, I was approached. The necessary tools needed, they didn’t have. Most would have put the tire back on and have said ‘sorry can’t help you’ but they didn’t. They went the extra mile and called other local shops one which loaned the necessary tool to complete the job. You think the story would end there but it doesn’t. The bearing had heated and froze onto the hub and couldn’t be pulled apart. So again they called around and found a shop that had the equipment to do what they needed. Is that above and beyond? I think so.In the end, a few short hours later, I was handed my keys with a complete repair. All the hurdles from the day were in the past. ‘That’ is customer service and teamwork! If you need repairs, trust this company will get the job done. Their rates, follow through, workmanship and customer service are stellar!

We were so blessed to find this place! My girlfriend and I were traveling through Rapid from Denver when we had a tire blow out. Being a Saturday, all the places we called and took my car to, were too busy to help or didnt have a tire we needed to fit my car. Luckily we were within a few miles of this Meineke. I called and they said to bring my car in. Emilio at the front desk was super nice and personable and Ryan the mechanic who worked on the car went above and beyond to make sure we were safely back on the road so we could travel home. It was such a relief after spending the afternoon on the phone talking to shops who spent less than a minute on the phone telling us they were too busy to help. The tire was beyond patchable so Ryan made some calls and tracked down the tires we needed, Emilio drove us to buy them and bring them back to the shop, and then charged below normal cost for a mount and balance. Overall I would direct anyone in the area to this shop for any needs.

I was about to make a 1300 mile trip. Was hearing some noise coming from the front of my truck so I gave Meineke a call and spoke with Ryan. He was very professional over the phone and got me in to have the truck checked out! Ryan is just as professional in person and got my truck up and checked out by Marty who was very thorough and identified the problem within 10minutes of investigation. Although they do not fix my issue which was a dealer issue Ryan was able to direct me to someone that could and I now have the issue resolved. Ryan was incredibly helpful and professional. I was passing through and had a problem with my radiator that led to overheating. I called in the afternoon and they were able to get me in the next morning to do the repairs. They confirmed the issue and Ryan even helped me find out which store around had the part and let me go buy it myself and bring it back to them. That saved me $100 on the part! Super patient with me and very kind throughout. Really great place!

Stopped in for some help with my car. Had such a great experience. First, the facility is very conveniently located, and is extremely clean. Ryan, the store manager could not have been nicer or more professional. I was in and out extremely quickly in spite of the fact I didn’t have an appointment. Was visiting on vacation when we started having brake noise. I called and they were able to fit us in that afternoon. Was very professional and prompt as I was only there an hour or less for a complete brake replacement. Would highly recommend.

Ryan is an angel. We are driving cross country and we were experiencing some alarming noises from our car. He got us in 5 minutes after we called and had the problem fixed in 10 minutes after arrival. They charged us the bare minimum for looking at my car and didnt charge us for the actual fix. My girlfriend and I are driving cross country, we hit a bump and got some intense squeaking from the front end of the car, we expected the worst. We talked to the manager Ryan on the phone and he got us immediately. Within in 15 minutes of being here, they diagnosed our vehicle, which was a a bushing that needed to be lubed. They only charged us $28 and sent us on our way. We are both relieved and incredibly happy with our experience. Would give 100 starts if I could.

The guys here at Meineke are really professional and helpful and guarantee their work with warranty and if something is messed up by their work they will fix it. Have never had a bad experience here and will always bring my car here.

We were on vacation in SD and I neglected to replace the brakes prior to leaving. The hills around Rapid City exposed that mistake and I felt safety was quickly becoming an issue. I called about a half dozen shops around our hotel and everyone said they were a week or so out. Ryan got me in the next day (I spoke with him at closing time the day before). Cost was realistic, he showed me the worn out parts, and was exceptionally courteous.I would definitely recommend Meineke in Rapid City.

Car was undriveable and I had 5 separate mechanics look at it and no one could figure out what the issue was until I took it to Meineke! I went in for a simple oil change and alignment after I got in a small accident. Turns out I had some bigger issues that needed taken care of immediately. All the guys were great about explaining what was happening and they worked to find me the cheapest price on all the parts rather than just taking the first price they found. It’s nice being a young woman and not having to worry about a shop taking advantage of the fact you don’t know much about cars, and trying to take every dime you have. They were honest, fast, and friendly! Definitely would recommend.
