Felt taken advantage of by this company. Very polite over the phone, but when we applied for a home not even 24 hours later it was off market. They shouldOf been transparent that an application was pending as i know rental applications take a few days normally. They told us we can transfer our application but either way it’s $100 We can’t get back. After looking into them more I’m glad we got a rentalHome through a different company. Blessing in disguise.

We’ve been renting with MSR for about two weeks now, and the management team in Raleigh has been very responsive with sending out technicians to service our house when we have maintenance issues. Today we had the pleasure of having Ronnie Delgado in our home, and he was amazing! Ronnie was beyond respectful, professional, friendly, and genuinely cared about our issues! If I have the option to request a technician, I will definitely ask for Ronnie!

I’m so upset my mother have been calling and emailing them in regards to her application and no one responds back in a timely manner. It has now been going on a month and she was first told that they were waiting on inspection for the unit and now have been told that they will be temporarily removing the application but without the signed documents for housing to even approve of her eligibility!!! Everyone seems to provide false and misleading information!!! How can you determine someone’s eligibility when they get assistance and tell them one thing when it’s not the case!!! I wish we would of had a better experience but this has by far been the worse experience of all time!!!

I have had no air conditioning for 2 days….it is over 90 degrees with an actual feel of over 100 outside. Although this is a “maintenance emergency” per MSR they could not send anyone out to fix it because it was “after hours.” They even blamed me for not calling earlier after I explained to them I work a full time job. Said someone would come out today between 8-5. I had to stay home in a house over 90 degrees for someone to show up at 4:30 saying they would just be back tomorrow to look at it. The lack of urgency is absolutely ridiculous. All of my cans have exploded due to the heat in the house. This place is a fat joke. The support lady even said that she “doesn’t prefer air conditioning anyways” when I asked her what she would do in my position. This company is absolutely god awful. Do NOT waste your time or your money. You are simply a bank to them.

To start, getting in touch with our rental agent Nico was impossible. We would call and email multiple times and get no response. We even requested to speak with the manager multiple times and were still never contacted. When we moved in 10 days ago the grass was literally 3 feet tall, along with a multitude of other issues. We were told that even though the yard maintenance was our responsibility, the grass would be cut prior to our moving in because it was too tall to cut with our mower. It never was. For some reason, the work order was cancelled and I had to call multiple times to re-explain the situation and get another work order issued. The neighbors approached us and said that if the front yard wasnt cut that they would call the city, so I had to pay someone to come cut the front. To this day, our work order for the backyard STILL hasnt been approved and the backyard is now about 4 tall in some places. The tall grass has attracted insects and we are not able to enjoy our swimming pool because of the insects in our overgrown back yard.

I rented here for a year. When I arrived there were many small things wrong with the home. Holes in the walls from nails, small stains on the carpet, small Nicks and dings from living all over the counters and walls. Nothing major. The front door handle was broken, the laundry had a small leak, and the gutters were full. A bit more of an issue and I reported it. I lived there for 1 year before they tried to raise my monthly rent from 1300 to 1700. This house was not worth 1700/month. So I decided to move. I cleaned the house inside and out. I hired carpet cleaners to clean the living room and master bedroom since I have a dog. I sent them the receipt. I was charged an extra 1000 over the 1350 security deposit due to dog urine smell over 75% of carpet my dog had never had an accident on the carpet and it was CLEANED. and they charged me for all the holes in the wall that I didnt put there. I called them, they never answered, so I emailed them and after a week I had a reply where I had to resent my complaint with proof. I did this and they still declined to take the bill off of my account. Screw these guys. They are terrible. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM THEY ARE CROOKS.

I am moving in this weekend so this review will just be for the application process and so far my experience with them. I live in Raleigh and went through Cassie for all of my needs and she was amazing!! We applied for one property and missed it by another applicant but she was SO helpful to help us find another property and transfer our information (and honestly love the new property even more). She has made it easy for us and we are excited to move in this weekend.

We submitted an emergency maintenance request on Friday 8/27 due to sewage suddenly spurting up from out drains, not water- SEWAGE. Over the weekend, a MSR agent changed our request from “emergency” to “general maintenance request” which was confirmed by a MSR agent on Monday morning that she could see where an agent changed the request on our claim.I am full term and about to go in labor with on and off contractions and had to wait FIVE days for a toilet and shower/tub to use. The MSR team was as helpful as they could be, telling me to “just relax, stress isn’t good for the baby”. You know what else isn’t good for the baby? Living in a home for 5 days without a dishwasher, washing machine, running toilets, showers or tub. Emotional and mental stress is just as dangerous for a pregnant woman. I’ve requested MULTIPLE times for a supervisor to contact me yet I’ve heard nothing.The septic tank contractor confirmed that the septic tank had not been pumped in “at least 10 years, if ever” as the concrete caps seams were so tight and had to be chiseled to open the tank. MSR clearly purchased this home, renovated it but cut the corner of pumping the septic tank prior to renting it out. We rented this house in good faith and we’re never given a septic tank status or any warning or indication that it was already a full tank when you rented to us. It’s disgusting and immoral that you run your business this way. You spent 3 days trying to “relocate” my family with a full term pregnant woman, small children and elderly pets to a hotel instead of just quickly expediting the maintenance request and resolving the issue.

I dont know if Covid is entirely to blame, but this company has been the worst property management Ive experienced to date. They were unresponsive, not helpful, not present, and left me with no one to connect with in or around my city. I had to do my own research to actually speak to a person. The home I rented was beautiful, but they did not do renovations before hand, it was not clean, and when I put in work orders they took their sweet time and some were never completed to this day. They are overcharging for rent based on the rest of my neighborhood after I spoke directly with other renters and home owners. They also have expectations for tenants that are really not fair as a renter like pest control and appliance maintenance if under warranty. They truly do not care for their properties or their tenants. Happy to be done with my one year lease.

We applied for one of their properties and were waiting for a decision to be made which took over two weeks when we were told the process would take 3-5 days. We were eventually approved but the whole process was managed poorly by Main street renewal.Because of the delay we had to pay for storage which ended up costing more hundreds of additional costs for the storage and cost of moving a additional time. In addition the company is completely unresponsive to our requests and took days to get back with us for simple requests and updates.AVOID AVOID AVOID. I have worked in residential property management for two years and this has been the worst experience I have had with a rental company to date

Each department has a different emails address and NOONE talks to each other. They do not know how to properly transfer within their own phone system: so every call is at least 1 hour with no resolution.They tried to raised my rent $165/month during a pandemic!

I attempted to do a self tour at an available rental property over the weekend. I was at the property and using the online options for access, but there was no lock box on site. The only lock box was for maintenance. I tried calling the ownership for an hour and couldn’t get any answers.I’ve been emailing and calling the last 48 hours and have not gotten a single response. Kind of mind blowing how non-responsive a company can be if they’re trying to fill an empty house.

I applied for a home on June 9, 2021….here it is June 23rd and I have not heard anything from anyone! I was told 3-5 business days to hear something back and I have heard absolutely NOTHING from anyone. Each time I call I’m told the same thing I can see online “it’s processing”. It doesn’t take 2 weeks to process a application! I’m calling for the 5th time and once again I’m on hold for 30+ minutes. At this point I just want my application fee back because this is piss poor service and if it’s already this bad in the application process I can only imagine how bad the service would be going forward.

While every person who we encounter from MS Renewal is lovely, the timeliness of urgent maintenance requests being addressed is deplorable. We had what we believed was a gas leak from the large propane tank that fuels fireplace after submitting an urgent request it took 2 days for someone to come out and take care of the situation. We also had our air conditioner stop working recently and when we spoke to MS Renewal we were told it would take 2 days to repair even though the temps would be above the range they deem urgent the next day. Lastly, we’ve put in multiple requests to have shingles replaced on the room (not urgent I know) since we moved in last year and that has yet to be fixed. While I understand their is a pandemic, their lack of concern to address even minor maintenance request at all just goes to show their lack of care for their residence.

Whenever I put a maintenance request in, I always get prompt feedback. The techs that come out are professional, they respect my home and put shoe covers on without me asking, and due to covid, they always wear mask. My tech today, Roni Delgado was very pleasant, he explained what he was going to do, once finished, he followed back up with me, and, he was very professional and prompt, as well as, when he finished, it worked better than it did before it was damaged.

Interesting, the customer service is non existent. No one wants to rent you a home I guess. We were approved but no one ever called for the next steps. Just told you gave the home we were approved away. You called Friday left no message, we called back right away left multiple messages no response. Then today (Monday only 72 hours later and since you’re closed on the weekend) we find out it was rented. Then you tell us you’ll see what you can do Bc the house we wanted to rent that y’all gave away the next applicants haven’t been fully approved... WHAT THE WHAT?! WOW. 3 week application process and now our family has no home to move into. Thanks. Should’ve read all the reviews first before applying, theyre true. Apparently I’m not the only one who went thru this. Steer clear from this company. Messing with peoples lives

Ronie Delgado is probably the best maintenance technician hands down. He fixed my drain in just minutes and asked if there was anything else. I said I had an issue with a light and he fixed it with no hesitation. This wasn’t on the original maintenance ticket because I was more concerned with the drain and didn’t think much of it. He had to go get a part, which was fine and took the time to make sure it was working again with no issues. Ronie took extra time out of his schedule to fix something that he wasn’t really scheduled to fix. However, I really appreciate his time and service! Now I feel that everything is fixed accordingly. If I ever have an issue again, I want him to come fix it. He was prompt and told me what he was doing so I understood what was going on. Thank you, Ronie!

Kayce Bragg, the Area Manager at the Raleigh NC location is a huge asset to Main Street Renewal. We moved to NC in the middle of a pandemic, therefore, quite a bit of stress followed. Love the house, but it had been empty for a while and had some issues (in the middle of a forest, you can imagine). Its rare to find people who go over and above to treat the customer even BETTER than you would want to be treated. She has been amazingly responsive and has worked to resolve issues as if it were personal to her. This type of service is what we all wish we could find in every service-oriented business. After putting in application, we would not get updates or responses to emails. We had several occasions where they were very rude whenever we tried to ask any questions. They withheld information in order to have us apply, only to find out the house was already leased and we would not get application fees back. Terrible customer service. Thankful I won’t have to deal with them after realizing how rude the company is.

I submitted application on 10/21, when I called to follow up on my application I’ve spoken to over 20 people. The last person I spoken to hung up on me. But yet everyone stated i will hear from “Allison” 10/27 I finally hear from Allison via email. After inconsistent messages from Allison the house I originally applied for is leased. So I was told to look for another property off the website. Which I did and told Allison the property. She stop responding. But then I notice the property was no longer on the website to find out the property isn’t on there database as if the property never exists! It was a waste of my time and hers! I got the complete run around within these 3 weeks.

We have now been renting from them for 10 months and they are by far the best rental company we have ever been with. We are excited to continue to have them as our rental property company. Anytime we have any issues with anything in our home they are always on top of it and it’s fixed in a respectable timely manner and they fix it right. Our last rental property they would never fix things when needed correctly and it always took forever. You don’t have to worry about that with this company at all. I highly recommend them if your looking for a rental property A++++++

Had problems with maintenance the whole time we lived at I one of their homes. Was told to move at the end of our lease during Covid. I was told owners didnt want to rent anymore. Found out 2 weeks after we moved out it is back for rent. Now they are wanting to charge me over $5k for breaking my lease which I didnt. They are also wanting to charge me repairs that were wear and tear because we were there for a year and a half. They also applied my security deposits on top of what they are charging me. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM

They have nice quality homes available for rent . Other than the price being a tad high I think they are lovely homes. Would love it if they would let me switch from my current home that Im. renting from them and move into one of their vacant homes thats available. I think that should be offered to any resident renting from them that has to move due to their lease not being renewed .

So, I gave it a few months to cool down on my experience with Mainstreet. Let’s see, moved in during the winter of 2019 in Raleigh, NC and when I arrived to the property it was a brisk 47 degrees inside the house. No worries, I’ll just turn on the heat because we had already started electric... oh but the heat doesn’t work. From 11/15-12/05 there was no heat. They called people out several times to fix the problem but never approved the work to be done. There was cigarettes and debris all over the property (but on move out I get charged for cleaning even though it was much cleaner upon move out.) The house had carpet upstairs and was told that I should get them professionally cleaned to avoid any charges but the carpets were brand new and in great shape. So, I call Mainstreet to see if I need to by contract to get the carpets cleaned and I’m told “you don’t have to according to the lease but it’s up to you if you feel that the carpets need it...” and I respond with “ok, can you email me that information just so I have documentation that you told me that?” To her response of “oh no, I can’t email you that information. We’re not supposed to tell people that”. Ok...... and the last thing after I got the carpets cleaned was that they still charged me for “miscellaneous repairs and cleaning” but keep in mind, it is CLEANER NOW THAN EVER. I had moved out of the property early and they were supposed to post the property for rent again and I would be responsible for rent until the house was rented out again (I had bought a house and moved out 2 months early). They never reposted the property! Luckily, I pushed and called and called and called to see what the holdup was. Finally they got it rented and paid me in return for the delay. Just layers upon layers of miscommunication. I hope that no one uses this company and I will make sure to take them down a peg, every chance I get.

Their call center has no idea whats going on, you cant get in contact with a leasing agent and its been weeks. Their website is shotty with very little information and rarely updated. Do. Not. Rent. From. This. Company.I have never had so many issues with a leasing company before. I moved into my home in June. From move in, our AC was not working, to the point where we were not able to stay in the house as it was reaching 90 degrees inside the home. They had no rush nor did they send out fans, or anything to help us in the meantime. We couldnt physically move into the house for at least a week. After move in, I submitted a request for reimbursement on the rent for the time I was not in the house, and was told it would be processed within 60 days, it is now October and I have not heard anything in regards to this. In the past 4 months, we have had a sink that frequently leaks (that gets fixed temporarily and starts again). A faucet outside for a hose was leaking was fixed twice but it still leaks. Our garage doors wouldnt open and kept falling off track (one is still broken). One of them was wearing down on electrical wires to the point where it had become a fire hazard. It was not fixed for at least 2-3 weeks and I had to request it to be fixed MULTIPLE times. Our stove and oven went out about a month in, and they didnt fix it for 2 months. Our heat does not currently work. We requested for it to be fixed over a week ago, for the coming season and still havent heard anything about it. Any time you try to contact them about any issues, they do NOT get back to you. I have never been more disappointed with a rental company. I will not be renewing my lease, nor will I be recommending them to anyone. If you are thinking about renting from them, DONT!

Weve been renting from Main Street Renewal since February of this year and we have nothing but incredible things to say about our experience thus far! All the staff are so friendly and always very helpful! Weve had to put some maintenance requests in and theyve always responded to them in a timely manor. We most recently had an issue with our living room lighting and within a day, they sent out one of their awesome electricians, Chris Barton and not only did he check every electrical outlet in the house, but he also explained what he was doing and why he was doing it and it was greatly appreciated. He even added longer pull strings to our light fixture and changed out all the bulbs that had gone out. And on top of all that, when he was on his way out he noticed that the door handle on our front door was loose so he tightened that too! He went above and beyond for us and truly understands costumer service :)

Before moving in, turning on the utilities, I had the hardest time turning the water on. Calling MSR asking who the provider was and they had no idea. After 3 WEEKS of trying to figure it out, when I got to the house it was a well. MSR didnt even know that the house was on well water and not town water. The house was awfully renovated with cut corners everywhere. From grout all over the tiles, paint on the moldings, to caulk everywhere in the kitchen on the counters and on the walls. Maintenance requests are never actually completed. The maintenance people suggest solutions but know MSR will not follow through because it is too much of a cost so we are stuck with the issues. We have rotted out windows which let a ton of cold air in raising our heat bill. All I heard from MSR was that I should get a maintenance call to come look at it. After 9 months we still have nothing solved in this house. The list could go on and on. The customer service is absolutely awful. Would NOT recommend a MSR property.

We contacted MSR for a maintenance request due to non-working hose spigots in our recently leased home. An appointment was set up in just a few days via email. Our technician, Chris, arrived on time, was very professional, thorough, and friendly! He wore a mask and shoe covers, chatted with my inquisitive 3 year old and didn’t make me feel bad about the issue being only a valve that I could have sworn I already tried to turn on, haha! Very impressed and thankful our issue was resolved so quickly!

I think there may be two offices for this company. I dealt with an Ayanna out of Charlotte, NC and I had an excellent experience. She answered all of my questions and got back to me promptly. I love the self-viewing tours. I had found a nice place that I really wanted and got approved for it. But after careful consideration decided not to rent the property. One thing I wish is that they would provide a washer/dryer with the properties. Even a second-hand one 10 years or less is better than nothing. As a renter, it is not feasible for me to purchase a washer and dryer to lug around each time I move. I will do that once I purchase a home. That was the only downside and hope they consider supplying them in the future, as I absolutely HATE going to the laundry mat. All in all my experience was great and if they would add washer/dryers to properties Id give them another try.

We have called multiple times to have issues fixed all over the house that were present the day we moved in back and April and they won’t send someone out to fix them. Now our dish washer has been broken since late September and we put in a maintenance request immediately and have not been contacted without us reaching out to them. It is now November and after calling again we were told we have to handle the issue with their warranty company and now a month later a repair man came out and said we won’t have a working dishwasher till the end of November. I never write reviews but our experience with this rental company is the worst I’ve ever had.

We rented a place from them in Zebulon NC. We had nothing but problems.when we moved in nothing worked the stove refrigerator dishwasher and the a/c were all not working.we lost all the food in the refrigerator.it is almost impossible to get in touch with someone.And after all that good luck with getting your deposit back.we left the place in better shape than we found it and they kept over half of it and nick picked every little thing like a broken picket on the fence.It was terrible from the first day to the last.

The owner of the house that rented changed the company to this one and since we are with this company they always have a problem with the payment of the rent is always late and the deposit that we paid to the previous company they say my husband and I never received it we never pay late rent we always pay it 4 days in advance or more .... and the Main street renewal system always says we are late ... Thank God this is my last month with them.No longer that they hook the phone in my face and that they do not solve their problem ... it is the only company with which I had that type of problem, evidence is sent to them and the problem always continues and not only with me with many clients more.

Literally the worst leasing company my husband and I have ever rented from. We moved from TX to NC in the midst of the national lock down and we were lucky to find a house on such short notice. After they received our deposit, we didnt hear another word from them. After multiple calls and emails my husband finally got someone on the phone on his drive to NC for our move. The house was not ready for move in, even though a representative assured him it was, and it took us days to get someone to respond to us. They are blaming covid for their lack of response. We have now been without a working refrigerator for over a month and they havent done anything to try to help us. They said they ordered a new one for us but then the order was cancelled and they did nothing to follow up on it. We have called, emailed, and threatened legal action but they still do nothing for us. Listen to the bad reviews people. They take your money and then forget you exist unless you dont pay rent.

We actively have 4 work orders open for HVAC issues. We have been WITHOUT Heat for a month now.Does MainStreet care??? Nope.So here I am, house is 46°. Cheap, over priced paper house.... Did I forget to mention its 28° outside tonight and I have small children in the home.Im calling a lawyer in the morning.**edit as of 12/2/2020**Yes I know there is an open order, but it was at no thanks to anyone at Main Street. I had to call 5 times and correct the vendors that were dispatched in order to get a proper response. I had to take time off from work yesterday to do YOUR job.I do not understand why this company (the one sent today) was not dispatched in the first place a MONTH ago when we first called. Why would you send 1.) A company that YOU dont know their service area (Its a basic question that should have been asked at the start) and 2.) Why a FLOORING COMPANY was sent after that for an HVAC issue. Also it seems that a repair quote was submitted a WEEK ago but Main Street did not like the bid from the FLOORING COMPANY and denied it YET did not send a second company or offer ANYTHING to us.

I called in to receive more information on a property, but thanks to the woman who helped me she informed me that it looked like someone was about to be approved for that property. That was extremely helpful because I was then able to ask about other homes available that would be a good match as well. Looking to submit my application with Main Street soon.

Did online application, got approved and then I was emailed and told the property I had been approved for was taken during my application process. Wait! How does that happen? Absolute worst experience of my life! Please do your homework before renting with this company! At least in the Raleigh/Durham area. They were extremely unprofessional and rude to me over the phone when all I was trying to do was keep a roof over my family’s head. They even closed the office early after telling me over the phone to come pay my rent in person. Fortunately after an hour of calling and waiting I was able to get in contact with their headquarters who left them a note instructing them to take my money the following week, as it was the end of the week, so that I would not be penalized for their inadequacies. Because of the difficulty experienced in trying to pay the rent I went to both the Durham County Magistrates office as well as Legal Aide. It appeared to me that this company was trying to force us out of the home and we were never able to figure out why exactly that was. Fortunately we were able to find a wonderful new home and got the hell out of there! For future reference, make sure you’re far enough in the back so that residents coming to pay rent cannot hear you talking about them. 👍🏻
