...welp--theyve done it again! My Dad and I emailed Gail last week to inquire about a beautiful tri-color braided ring that was listed for sale. Not only did Gail respond quickly, she was so helpful with options and ideas to fit my Dads budget. The ring went perfectly with the custom necklace we made for my Mama at MSJ last year. (The necklace was made out of my Grandmothers engagement ring and a couple other deco style bands that MSJ makes beautifully... Gmas ring was yellow gold with a diamond, the other two bands were white and rose gold. They were made into a heart shape with Gmas diamond in the top curve of the heart.) The braided ring was intended to replace a special ring that was lost, compliment the necklace, and also as a gift for my parents 45th wedding anniversary. Gail ensured shipping so that the ring arrived just in time to celebrate their anniversary today:) I LOVE IT, MORE THAN MY ORIGINAL! I purchased a Blue Zircon ring with seed pearls online from Market Square Jewelers. Blue Zircon is a bit more challenging to find than other gemstones. When I saw this ring online, I knew it was the one Id been looking for. My experience was excellent Alex was patient and informative as I asked about the ring. Her answers were prompt and just what I needed to be able to finalize my decision. The ring exceeded my expectations. The blue zircon shines and the seed pearls are simply gorgeous. I couldnt be happier with my experience.

I brought in a pair of gold hoops that I had bent and these guys fixed them in exactly a week. When I picked them up, they were even prettier than when I bought them! Thanks for shining and fixing my earrings, I will definitely be back!

Terrible experience. I had a resizing appointment at 10. I was told it would be ready in 30 minutes to an hour. They called my fiance at 11:30 which at that point I had been waiting in my hot car and paying for parking. Had I realized it would not be as fast as they said I would not have waited around and been working on my college assignments. They told him he would have to pay before it began and that it would be ready within the hour. By the time they called me I had been waiting over an hour and a half. They told me it would be done and to come in. I then had to wait some more before I finally got my ring. All of this wa poor communication, bad time management and not respecting or caring about wasting my time. Obviously I suggest never going to this store.

It might be small but it sure is mighty. Locations in Dover and Newburyport. I’ve been buying from them for 20 years. Fair pricing and prolific inventory. They do excellent repair and design work as well.

I was quoted $30 for resetting a stone in costume jewelry At The Most, as it was such an easy job. When I went to get my ring they wanted $40. I had to argue with them to get my ring back for the $30 quoted. I never should have taken it to them, any one else would have done it for $20, but I was in a hurry and they were open. Never again...

Absolutely love the staff in the Portsmouth location, as well as their online folks. Bought a new wedding band for me and a watch for my husband. Wedding band prong became loose and a diamond fell out- now theyre replacing that without charge. Quick, helpful and customer oriented business. Also appreciate their beautiful stock.

Today I received a watch as a birthday gift, but the bracelet was too big and needed links removed. I asked Market Square Jewelers if they could adjust the braclet. They removed the links expertly and when I asked what I owed them, they said it was a complimentary service and refused money even when I pressed them. Wonderful people, expert service and a class act. I will be back!

This store has really turned around from where it was five years ago. They have always had a great selection but now their staff is stellar! If you are looking for a vintage piece or an estate engagement ring, go here ... and they have 3 other stores if they dont have it here, they may somewhere else! I love the Dover store.

Prompt response and very accommodating. Had to have ring resized and received it within a week. Stone was not as blue as image on website. Overall ring design is beautiful.

This store is a real find (a gem, if you will): if it werent for their gorgeous online presence (their website is the most beautiful Ive ever seen in terms of the photography and clarity of information) Id likely never have walked in, as the storefront could use some sprucing up. However, knowing what Id seen online and what I was looking for, we walked in and were assisted by Delia, who was friendly and warm without being at all pushy. We purchased a pendant and a ring, both at extremely reasonable prices for fine jewelry, and I would return in a heartbeat. After looking at a lot of other jewelry in person and online, I think they have the best selection and quality for the price.

I had been looking for a horseshoe pendent for months, and decided to see if they had anything at Market Square Jewelers. I told Gail what I was looking for, and she immediately had a piece in mind. She showed me on the computer, as it was in Newburyport, and told me she would have it put on hold, and would bring it back to their Portsmouth location for me to see. She even emailed me pictures of it so I could get an idea of what it would look like. I fell in love with it, and also had it engraved. Super speedy service, and Gail was truly wonderful. I am a pocket watch enthusiast and I have been searching a long time for an open face pocket watch from the late 1800’s early 1900’s. I finally found a great selection at Market Square Jewelers. I purchased an Elgin and a Hampden. The staff at Market Square are excellent and knowledgeable. Great place to do business.

I was so absolutely THRILLED when I stopped in this shop with my husband. We were just in town for a few days and were doing some shopping downtown and stopped in this shop just on a whim. Everyone in there was very helpful and extremely friendly. I browsed around and pointed to some things and one of the young guys pulled out a box of rings and said play around if he had not done that I would of never found the ring I purchased. Colleen helped us from there on out once I found the ring I have been looking for to match my engagement ring! A vintage 1920s estate engagement ring. The ring I found was made for my ring and I couldnt believe it. I was so pleased, I never write reviews but the service was great and Colleen was extremely knowledgeable. Preselected online selection of rings to view for my 30th Anniversary. Received personal email confirming selection and viewing dates.Drove over 2 hours to both Newburyport and Portsmouth locations. Staff were knowledgeable and attentive!!The selection was so vast I had hard time making any decisions, Delia recognized my situation and brought me rings I possibly wouldnt have even looked at based on what I told her I was looking for. Both rings were so exquisite I ended up with two rings!!!Had small problem with rings needing repairs, Delia again took care of me, and handed repairs to Alex and her team who emailed me personally!!!On return drive to pick up both rings Delia had pulled one more ring to show me now knowing my style. Ive now got third ring on layaway, I cant wait to wear that one too!!!Market Square Jewelers are amazing!!!

Portsmouth location ONLY. (Dover was FANTASTIC) Disorganised, inefficient, limitedoptions, no answers, and very poor customer service. Drove 30 minutes out of my way toDover, (happy I did) to get my piece which has been in their possession for over a week waiting to simply be assessed for a minor job. Still no answer to my simple question after waiting over a week. No courier service available to return my ring to me where I left it in Portsmouth. Three week turn around for sizing. Went to Dover and got immediate answers and a very quick sizing. Will definitely never do business again in Portsmouth. Go to Dover!

Ive shopped here for years and its my favorite place to go for jewelry - Im not interested in modern jewelry anymore, Im completely spoiled on vintage sparklies. In fact, my love for demantoid garnets can be traced 100% back to this store, several years ago. I was looking at emeralds (at that time my favorite stone) and Peter somehow winkled out that I have a January birthday and thus a garnet birthstone, but Ive never been fond of ordinary red garnets. He showed me an antique Russian demantoid garnet ring and that was that. Ive also had a few things repaired here and they did a good job at it. Their prices do seem to have gone up quite a bit in the last few years, thus the subtraction of one star (I would rather have taken off only half a star but that wasnt an option), but I do still think that you get good value for your money here, especially given that youll find unique items here instead of the same-old-same-old at most jewelers these days.

Wife has used them twice to repair some broken antique jewelry with great success. Excellent prices as well!

This store has great curb appeal if you like estate jewelry, which I do. Ive been going here for twenty years but unfortunately will go no more. I took a pair of vintage earrings here to get made into posts. They told me two or three weeks. After four weeks I called... and they had no idea where the earrings were! I was told I would get a call back when they located them, but I didnt so I had to call again. I was then told they were at the Newburyport store and would be in Portsmouth by the end of the week.That was Tuesday. Again no call. So the following Tuesday I called AGAIN and turned out that once again the earrings had gone missing. These are vintage, irreplaceable earrings. I said I was stunned that they could have lost a customers jewelry, and was told they werent LOST, they just didnt know where they were. I am not kidding.At this point I lost my temper. They said theyd continue to look, and later that day they called to say theyd been found in the Dover store. My receipt was clearly marked with my name, my number, and PORTSMOUTH... so why they had gone to Newburyport then Dover I dont know. But at last I had my earrings back and there would be no charge. Yay!I was told I would get a call to confirm that they had reached the Portsmouth store the following week. By Friday of the following week I had still gotten no call. But this time at least when I called they WERE in Portsmouth. When I went to pick up the earrings I was told, oh by the way you have to be very careful with them because the backs were just glued on. Why? Because this type of metal is unsolderable. I looked at the earrings and clearly saw parts that had been soldered on years ago. I also remembered being told by another jeweler that they could be soldered, but that jeweler was going to charge me $50 so I came here. I started to comment, but the clerk gave me such a face that I didnt bother to argue, just took my earrings and left and will never go back.I realized: if they lied about the soldering, my guess is they lied about what happened to the earrings too; they probably never even made it to the metal worker and a clerk just glued the backs on. Great estate jewelry but terrible terrible terrible customer service and shoddy workmanship. Theyve lost a loyal customer. Too bad.
