Great service. I appreciated not being over-sold. They did the repairs that were needed, very quickly, and I feel like I have a new car.

Ive now been several times, and my wife has taken her car multiple times. They are honest, priced very well, and the repairs were done right. They laid out my options, gave me quotes on everything, and gave advice on what was best for me and my truck. Exceptional service and very friendly. This is my new go-to repair shop.

The customer service was great. They were honest with me and even gave me pictures of what else I needed done in the future. I thought my price was going to be very high and was beyond surprised at what it ended up being.

I called at 8 right when they opened and spoke to Mark, I told him my SUV was making a loud sound and I believed it was my wheel bearing he told me to bring it right in and they would check it out. I drive right up there and was greeted by Mark and he was very polite and smiling when I walked in. He told me the price of looking at my vehicle and had someone check it out. It wasn’t what I thought and cost me a lot less then I was thinking. They also checked out what I thought it was ti make sure and my breaks all the way around. I would tell anyone to go there and speak to Mark he seems to have a good team working for him.

I needed an oil change on my car and at first went to jiffy lube but was told that they cant help me after waiting an hour. I called Car-X Tire & Auto with my problem and they scheduled me in just a couple hours later, and got the oil changed at a great pace. Very happy with the service and the staff, definitely call here first!

I needed a wheel alignment on my trip from New York to California because I had just bought and mounted brand new tires. They told me they could not perform the alignment because of the amount of items and heavy weight loaded into the trunk, and as a result they would not be able to do a proper job.Although the staff at Car-X could not perform the wheel alignment their customer service honesty and professionalism is excellent and very much appreciated. They didnt want to take my money based on not being able to do the job 100% correctly and for that I appreciate them

I went in for an alignment and I know it is partially my fault but they they only partially worked with what I asked of them because I had front end parts replaced by another mechanic (long story short, I am low income single mother and working on a budget and needed these major parts replaced and also helped someone else in need in my process to have the parts put on). So they said it looked good and went ahead with the alignment ($100) a couple days later the upper control arm bolt came loose. Took it back and they wanted to charge more for the camber alignment (another $200) because they said the bolt was tightened but not torqued. So I dont want to accuse or assume they did something to cause this to happen or if it was the previous mechanics mistake (the one whom installed the parts). But I also did ask Car-x to check the work done in my FIRST visit to ensure everything was done properly and if they wanted to charge for it that would be fine, so I can say they didnt do as I asked until after they did the second alignment and then charged me (an additional $40) to recheck all that work of themselves and the previous mechanics work. I definitely would NEVER RECOMMEND anyone to go here and I wont return unless it has something to do with anything under the warranty of these 2 seperate alignment jobs. I am so sad that these mechanics took advantage of me and didnt do as I asked in the first place which would have prevented me from having that bolt come loose and putting me and my children at risk when it did come loose. This was totally a lesson learned the hard way in my case.

Me and my husband came to this carx on 6 they were so helpful we just bought the car and it had recalls they checked the recalls and called to make sure they were recalls that we could still take to the dealership to get done. This morning my husband had a check engine light come on we called to see if they could help us they went above and beyond to help us. If you want a company that truest cares I strongly recommend you go there!!

We were traveling through town on our way home to Minnesota when we got a flat tire. We pulled in and Mark as well as the mechanic who worked with us were so helpful. They got us in right away and although they did not have the right size tire for my car, helped us find another place in town who did and put the spare on for us. They were so courteous and helpful. If I lived in town, I would absolutely bring my car back to them!

Super quick and reliable

The onwer is a great guy! I came in needing an alignment and they ended up finding out I actually needed a ball joint. They replaced it quick for me and I even got a bonus part put on my car with ni charge. Fantastic place!

I stopped by this shop to get my brakes done. All the guys are so nice and I really felt like they were not going to have me get work done that I didnt need. The prices were reasonable. I even received a thank you card in the mail! In all my years of getting car work done, that has never happened. A very nice personal touch! I will take my car there for any work it needs and I have already recommended them to my friends and family in the area!

Horrible service I have a bad bad exhaust leak making me suffocate and I had a good brand new muffler laying around my garage I went in asking for a donut gasket to be replaced and for my muffler to be put on. And instead of just saying I don’t install mufflers not bought from here the gentlemen at the desk got real loud and angry at me for even suggesting the use of a muffler I didn’t buy from him and basically denied my service and told me to leave. I’ve had other bad experiences as well but this is the most recent. If there was an option for Zero starts that’s what they would get darn baby boomers

Speedy service, friendly, and have your best interest in mind. I live in Denver now, but I was in the area for the holidays when my windshield wiper went out in a snow storm. Stopped by the shop because of proximity and took a gamble on the place. I thought it would be an expensive fix, but they noted that it could be something very simple and cheap. They were right. I was in and out in 15 minutes. Unfortunately, I dont know much about cars so they could have sold me on a more expensive service since I really needed it fixed, but they didnt. Top it off, they even sent a hand written thank you card to Denver knowing that its pretty unlikely Im in their shop again anytime soon. You dont see customer service like that these days. Mark and his team have seen me through some rough times over the past year, but theyve always taken the time to thoroughly explain everything to me when I have questions. If the wait will be a long one, they drive me home and pick me back up when the work is finished on my car. Honest men doing honest work. Enjoy talking to the owner MARK if you have questions, he will answer. If you come in and are curious to what is going on he might even take you into the garage to show you the 411 if you are interested. I learned a lot here and put a decent money into them for good work.

This place and specifically its owner are amazing! We were traveling over 3000 miles across country and had some bad car troubles in a place we were completely unfamilar with. We happened upon this place by chance and we were treated like family. I would give 10 stars if I could. Outstanding! Not sure about the experience of the prior reviewer but these guys saved our western trip. Car broke down on Route 80 one day into a three week trip to the Grand Canyon from New York. Managed to get it to Car-X in Portage on a Saturday morning and they quickly diagnosed a loose battery cable and fixed it at no charge. They could not have been more helpful, cooperative or friendly. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Fantastic group of auto specialists who really care about their customers. They certainly could not have treated us any better! Trust us...you wont regret taking your car to Car-X in Portage, IN.

I have called this place many times over the years to check prices and they always were just the worse. They never gave me any reason to try them as they just didnt convey they ever knew what they were doing. I decided to try them anyways as there are few is any competent repair places in the Portage area and to no surprise they failed on every level. Luckily I didnt have them actually perform the repair as they really didnt know what they were even talking about from a technical stand point. Just a total rip off place from the start. Consumers should be aware and be cautious on who you pick to care for your vehicle just like you would your doctor. I have over 35 years in the auto industry and I would never send anyone to this establishment.

Called to find out if they top off brake fluid so I could make it to get my car repaired and the guy was extremely rude telling me how he only did that after he was done repairing brakes. He would not top off my fluid, so I guess they feel its better for a woman and her 2 kids to not be safe. Very, very rude employees.

Person at the front counter was pretty rude and did his best to try to make me feel like and idiot. He was also being a smart*** and making them sound like idiots to the people that were on the other end of the phone needing help. Im also surprised he didnt try to charge me for just pulling into the parking lot.

Took my car in with multiple lights on (ABS, all wheel drive disabled...) and these guys were not only able to diagnose the problems and fix them in an awesome time frame (24 hours), they were able to do a complete diagnostic panel to make sure there were not additional problems. And a month later when I had similar issues were able to find the faulty part and fix it immediately. I highly recommend these guys for any work you need done.

Driving on the express way my car started acting up on me and was very scary to drive! having just moved around the area I called the nearest CarX and was taken here! Mark took me in right away, explained everything clearly, and the guys began working on my car immediately. I was very impressed with the amicable service, and the prices werent outrageous either. This is where we usually get our oil changed but not after the last encounter my husband had there. We needed air in all four tires and when he was told we need four new tires (at least $1200) and declined that, he was charged $20 for the air put in the tires. Our tires only have 26,000 miles on them but since the car is a 2010, I guess he figured he d hit us up for new tires all the way around. Usually the staff that is present are very friendly and helpful and they do not pressure you for extra services. This day there was someone who appeared to be the owner possibly and my husband said he was very abrupt and rude when he knew we werent replacing the tires. I only gave them two stars because the rest of the staff is usually so helpful and great to work with. We wont be going here anymore.

The mechanics here really know their stuff. They are currently helping me with some road hazard damage i sustained and they are doing it today without an appointment. I have also brought my car in for brakes which they now Guarantee for life, and a tune up. I will Continue to bring them my business because they are real professionals. Just dont bring them parts cause they cant install them or guarantee them. They are also great local supporters. Awesome place to go get your car issues solved

I walked in this place with my 4 kids and was immediately greeted with a smile and offered food for my little ones and coffee for myself. They had my car up and being checked out for brake issues within, maybe, 20 mins, maybe less. After the inspection, they went over everything that needed fixed, explained why it needed fixed and how they were going to fix it. The prices were easily broken down on paper. I dont know what it normally is to replace brake pads and rotors, but the breakdown seemed fair based on the breakdown. Then, after the work was done, I realized I had left my wallet at home...they were gracious about it and had one technician drive me home while another followed us so I didnt have to return to the store...then to make the day more frustrating for me, my house key had disappeared from my keyring, so I was locked out of the house...luckily I found a way to get in and get them paid, but what a day lol. My point is, they were great to work with from start to finish. Highly recommend taking your vehicle there.I also wanted to note, I observed them demonstrating the same level of customer service with a couple other people...one of which was going to need some extensive repairs and they were making every effort to explain and work with her. They spoke, a few times over the phone, with what I assume was her significant other, and even contacted a transmission repair shop (they dont do transmission repairs) to ask questions about the transmission code that came up for the check engine light. It looked like they were going above and beyond for this situation as well.

They are the best in town. A little expensive, but you cant beat their service. Owner is a great guy

Air conditioner cut out on my Roadtrek, and these guys checked it out. Told me it was just a faulty switch and got it working again. No charge!!! I think its safe to say these dudes are honest and do excellent work.

Customer service was awful. I wanted to get my catback exhaust installed and the guy told me the brand he sold was better than the BORLA system I bought. I know its merely an opinion but he tried to pressure me to sell sell my system and buy his. Lost a customer. The last thing I need is an attitude from ANY business! GO ELSEWHERE!

Went a few times with my first car. First to get tires, decent price. Second time went for an altinator and was way too much money compaird to other shops. So I took it somewhere else that I called ahead of time for s lower price. Third time I went in the mechanic was quite rude because I dident pay him his over proceed deal on the altinator. I felt embarrassed because I dont have an extra 600$ laying around. So I just left because of the disrespect. I think his name was mark. Avoid mark if you go to this one.

Fast great service

I recently had flood related damage to my car and ended up needing to have my engine replaced. I took it to Portage Car-X and they did an excellent job at not only repairing my car as soon as possible but that I got a fair price for the engine that they needed to order. I would trust my car to them for any job, large or small.

I always take my car to carx. recently I took it in and the owner, mark, called me and said it was an internal problem with the engine. he did not charge me for checkin it out or the diagnosis. so I called some scrap yards, not wantin to put anymore money into it. pauls auto yard gave me the highest rate to scrap it. I came to meet the toe driver and rose (also owner) went to her motherly ways tellin me how I needed my plate, which I didnt even think of and mark took it off for me. when the toe driver showed up mark happened to be outside. she started a confrontation with him and was extremely rude and disrespectful. he told her to get off his lot. which I completely understood havin watched it all. he then told me hed find someone and give me the same value for it. within a week he had the money for my car. this is a true family owned company that cares for their customers. they are always thorough and honest. I trust them 100% and will continue takin my cars there forever! thanks carx!
