Highly recommend this Plainfield location Hertz!! The 2 ladies that often work Saturday mornings are the most fantastic people to work with. One of their names is Candace; I didnt catch the other name. We needed a car ASAP after a car accident on a Friday afternoon, preceding a holiday weekend. Our insurance company got us booked at this Hertz, which thankfully was open on Saturday mornings!! (I didnt realize many locations in our area are not open on Saturdays). Hertz set us up with a great vehicle at a fantastic rate! So many of their vehicles are almost brand new, with all of the features. I had to call Hertz a couple times, as our damaged cars repair was taking longer than expected. Each time, Hertz worked with us so kindly, and took care of everything we needed beyond expectations. Car rental can sometimes be tough, but not at this Hertz. These ladies made the process so easy. Thank you both!!

Hertz sent me a reservation confirmation for a van that indicated that the office closed at 6pm. I arrived at 5.30 and it was closed.I called Hertz to make sure my reservation would be available at the same rate at 9am next morning. They assured me that it would be, and even made a note on my record.I arrived at 9am and was told that there were no vans available, even though there were two parked right outside. Apparently they were reserved for other customers! Moral of the story-never believe anything that Hertz says and this office is beyond bad.I will never use Hertz again and would encourage everyone to stay away.They are inefficient, dishonest, and rude.

Reservations were made for a pick up at 11 am . I called the day before & asked if I could get it at 9am. I was told no problem. I got there at 9 car was not ready, came back at 10:30 still not ready . Mike was more worried about his phone than helping the situation.

If 0 was an option that would be the rating. understaffed and rude the staff does a terrible job of providing customer service. Waited over 30 minutes to have the worker get two people their car and ended up having to cancel my reservation since I wouldn’t make the work function I needed the car for. Will never rent from them again

Giving them a star is TOO much. Closed before actual closing time. My reservation for pick-up was at 5:00 pm. When I contacted the Plainfield branch to inform them that I was on my way...the employee told me not to come because she was closing at 5:00. When I told her that was the time of my reservation she said that there was no need in coming because they had no vehicles for me regardless. (Even if I came the next morning). Did nothing to fix their problem.So why would Hertz post this sign...send me my reminder about my reservation and not inform their customer in the email that the location is closed.

Went to the hertz on route 59 in Plainfield, IL.The prices were great. However, did not have much cars, did not inform us with basic information. My biggest complaint was the IPAss, they should of said if you have one to use yours not the one in the vehicle.Luckily, the day i returned the vehicle, I asked these questions, then went home and added the plate number to my account for the days I rented the vehicle. These are important info to give to a customer.

DO NOT use this place for car reservations. Very shady people. Had a reservations for a vehicle which I placed a couple months in advance. They call me 2 days before my trip and the day I was supposed to pick up to cancel on me because they didnt have any vehicles for me to use. 2 days before. Why wait 2 days before. I got screwed. Now I cant find anything anywhere on such short notice. I wish I wouldve used another company. Called customer service and they were no help. Very bad business. Now I know to never use Hertz again.

Very poor customer service. My wife called and scheduled a midsized car for us. When we showed up the next morning at our scheduled time for the midsized car we were told would be ready for us, it wasnt there. He tried to give us a compact car instead. We told him that we cant take a smaller car. He said he would call and let us know when one would be available. Thus was a week ago. No call or car from Hertz yet. We went to Enterprise and had a midsized car the next day.

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!!!! We rented a car from hertz for two weeks. We got call when we returned that they accidentally charged us with an extra 800$ which was a smoking fee. Neither my boyfriend or I smoke and we never have. It is a month later and we still have not received the money back in our bank account. We went in today to ask what the heck was going on and we had some very rude customer service. Chris, in particular, did not seem concerned about the issue we were encountering. Now we are forced to take this to a corporate office. I WILL NEVER RENT HERE AGAIN

My husband and I have rented several cars over the years. Most of the time we have used Enterprise and booked through Expedia. This particular trip we wanted a larger vehicle and I found Hertz to be the cheapest... That was until we went to pick the vehicle up and were hit with all the extra fees. I had paid ahead of time and we were leaving that morning so it was too late to cancel at this point. With Enterprise my husband and I have always shared the drive Hertz charged an extra $13.50 a DAY for my husband to be allowed to drive!! We were not sure if we would make it home on time the morning of return which has never been a problem with Enterprise and we were never charged as long as it was returned sometime on the day of. Hertz charged is an extra day. They also held a $200 deposit for a rental I had already paid for in full. I was very shocked by all of theses extra fees that we have never incurred with any other rental. We have two more trips planned this year and I know better than to ever use Hertz again. We will be loyal Enterprise customers. What I initially saved was no where close to being worth all of the extra charges. Never again!!!. BEWARE!!!

Yesterday I received a confirmation for my car at the JOLIET location and I searched it up online and it said that Hertz closed at 6pm and I drove all the way from Elwood to the Joliet location and arrived at 4:50 just for them to be CLOSED and the other location they had open closed at 5:00!!!!!!! I then called customer service and they scheduled me a pickup at 4:00 from my job in Elwood just for them to flake on me! FLAKE ON ME!!!!!! I called them back again to ask why and they said they had no record of me even scheduling and when I requested a car to get me again they said it was “too far and they close soon” I have a full time job and I have my own business and playing phone tag with them is the last thing that I want to do with them. Very unprofessional and I would NEVER recommend anyone to do business with them. The only reason why I’m doing business with them is because my insurance sent me to them.

Very nice employees, but this location is very slow. Took me over an hour to pick up a car I reserved weeks ago, and then over half an hour to return it. Ive rented cars from several companies and its always been a quick thing. If you value your time I would go somewhere else.

When they dropped me off at the auto body shop, they left before making sure my son and I made it in safely. The place ended up being closed, and we were abandoned outside in 30 degree weather. Then they wouldnt answer their phones. We had to wait in the cold until someone else could pick us up. .. please make sure the people you drop off make it safely inside.

Buyer beware. Hertz is trying to stick us with two toll charges and fine that we did not incur. we dropped the car off at 12:45 on 11/21 and someone took it from there a went through a tollbooth, twice, and we are being charged. Hertz wont help because their records show we dropped it off at 11:59 at night (they close at 6) and we had the car in our possession. we have a gas receipt for the fill-up before dropping it off that shows we were at the Shell station, about 100 yards for the office at 12:34.

Terrible. Hidden fees. READ ALL THE SMALL PRINT AND DONT INITIAL ANYTHING ABOUT TOLLS!!! Make them explain everything, they sneak in hidden fees, and when you return the car and mention that you didnt use/need that, they say but you initialed accepting it. So yeah, shop and sign carefully.

UPDATE: As anyone reading the review below can see, Hertz responded to me ONE MONTH LATER. They also provided no information on how/when they will contact me to address my concerns. I stand behind my one-star rating as it took 30 days for anyone to reply to the review, and yet no one to this day has called me as a customer to address my concerns.Highly disappointing experience as a Hertz Gold Member. Arrived at location to find out that customer overnight parking was no longer available as it was previously, so I had to drive my own car back to my house, to get picked up. Called on the day of my rental car return date to request a return ride/drop off 5 minutes away and was rudely told by the manager that I should come in after 10 am because no one was scheduled besides him and no rides were available. When I asked about additional charges for having to wait to drop off, he didn’t respond or didn’t offer to not charge me the additional time. When I decided to get an Uber to bring me home and dropped off the car 20 minutes after my call, there were 2 people there working behind the counter. As a 20 year hertz member and gold status member this will be my LAST rental at this location.

I was on a strict schedule to get to Florida for business, I prepaid everything as I have done before with budget rental. I get there before 9 they then wanted 200$ deposit on a card usually it’s 50$ or 100$ and I pre paid!! which I then had to run to the bank and move money I came back they gave someone else my car! Then they got it worked out the guy was very rude and then it took them 35 min to bring me a car I now am 2 hours off schedule! I’m very very displeased with this company and will never use them again!

I believe I have dealt with Matt multiple times times during last two months. He is professional, courteus and very polite. The vehicles were always on time, clean inside, just a little wet wipe over the dash was needed. I cannot complain about the vehicles either, safe and dependable. I drove a new Hunday Sonata through the 1st midwest storm few weeks ago, and the car handled great. Strongly recommended.

The staff was amazing friendly and great. The manager was a complete jack ass. He lied. Told stories. Used bait and switch tactics. And then acted like he was not in the wrong and it wasnt his fault or hertz it was everyone elses but....Sorry buddy im a General Manager myself so I know your games. Except i dont use them on my customers i find solutions and treat them like humans. My grand pappy always said treat others how they treat you... so hopefully my rude response to him was his wake up call but i highly doubt itDont visit this joke of a location because he says he cant speak for his staff so he cant stand by the conversations that took place so even if the staff goes out of their way to help you hell just go agaisnt what they said anyways.Im waiting for the BS hidden damage charges....Use Enterprise... teaches me to never save 30 bucks...

Beware! Got into an accident was told everything was being covered by State Farm (the other persons company since they were at fault) but that the credit card was going to be held for incidentals. Wind up with a charge for almost $185 on a car that cost less then that for State Farm to pay for. State Farm claims that hertz lied, hertz claims that they explained about there coverage( no recollection of anything other then them telling me everything was covered by State Farm).
