Being somewhat new to this area, I was looking for a place nearby to take my car in when it suddenly started leaking anti-freeze. I called one morning and they were able to get my car in later that day. They had my car repaired and back to me by the next afternoon. I was very impressed with how they take care of their customers. John, the owner, was very helpful and thorough in explaining what was wrong with my car and what needed to be fixed. John was very helpful with letting us know about our car that was towed to him. Unfortunately, the car, which has a lot of miles, could not be fixed unless we purchased a new engine. Too many miles for that. I have friends that go to Blaine’s Automotive and will plan to return to Blaine’s for our car maintenance/issues with our vehicles.

Blaine is the man! After struggling to find the true cause for my 2005 Toyota Corollas gear shift randomly locking up whilst displaying the airbag code on the dash, I sought after many mechanics to give me an HONEST diagnostic of my situation. Low and behold, I found Blaine after heavy research and brought the car over to him for repairs. I discovered previously that the Alternator switch was corroded/ burnt and had Blaines give me his professional opinion. (Will post pictures soon). The man literally fixed the problem that had been giving me grief for weeks!!! I will update if this issue returns but for all intents and purposes Blaines is the most honest and experienced mechanic Ive seen that is also willing to answer any questions you may have. I am scheduled for another appointment with him for another one of my vehicles and cant wait to review that encounter as well! Awesome/ down to earth dude!

The air conditioning on my daughters 2013 Nissan Sentra hasnt worked well since we bought the car used several years ago. Ive had it back to Nissan several times. Each time they checked the system and reported it fully functional. The last time I had it back, they finally decided that the AC compressor needed to be replaced, but the estimate for the repair was very high even with coverage from the extended warranty insurance policy that we purchased for the car. I took the car to Blainess Auto Service Center and asked if they could help. John worked with the extended warranty company to negotiate a better deal. He then replaced the compressor and charged the AC for significantly less than it would have cost at the dealer. Now the AC is working like it did the day the car was driven off the assembly line. And just in time for us to survive this latest heat wave. But more than the professional treatment and excellent service we received, I was most impressed with Johns willingness to go the extra mile to help mitigate the high cost of this repair. He spent a considerable amount of his valuable time working out an arrangement that benefitted me far beyond a functional air conditioner. Thank you John. As Ive said, youve won a customer for life.

I had an issue with my BMW and had taken it to a import mechanic in Joliet but I want confident in their diagnosis so I had it brought here and he was spot on. He save me thousands. The other shop said my timing chain was bad and I needed a new engine which I had a hard time with since the car only had 75k miles. I told them I thought it was the problematic vanos system but they said it wasnt. When Blaines looked at it he said it was a part on the top of the engine (which I forget the name of) AND the vanos system. He took the energy and looked into the issue online, he discovered that there was an extended manufactures warranty on that specific part through BMW due to a class action lawsuit and he even told me how to file a claim through BMW. I paid him to replace the one part that wasnt part of the warranty and for the diagnostic. I had the car towed to BMW and they did the entire repair under warranty for free! They have made a customer for life! Hopefully I dont need his services often, but when something breaks hes my guy!

I went in for a basic oil change only to find out i needed new wheel bearings. They took the time to actually take me to my vehicle to show the issue while explaining the repair and its necessity. Anything extra is not pushed on you, everything is very straight forward. The staff is kind and courteous making sure they explain things so each customer has full knowledge of their vehicles repair. John quoted me a price for a body lift kit, once he got to work on it he realised that it was going to cost him much more than the quote in service hours alone I’m sure. However he didn’t change his quote on me, which I respect a lot, and also he worked late hours just to make sure he was able to get my car back to me in a timely manner, even staying as late as 9:30pm one night to work on my car. I would highly recommend this company to anyone with automotive needs and will make sure to come back if I ever need any work done again. At one point of the build he realised that he needed a tool that he didn’t have, so he took my car to his friends shop, where they had one just to complete the job, where as other mechanics would have just turned me down from the start. If there was a way to go over 5 stars I would!

I moved to the area a few years ago and needed a new repair shop to take my car to. After extensive research on the internet I found Blaines Automotive. Found a ton of great reviews and great feedback as to how great Blaines was. Well I have been going to John for the last two years and have not been disappointed. An honest shop with reasonable pricing. John will explain everything to you in great detail and answer any and all questions you may have. You wont be disappointed in taking your car to Blaines.

I took my car in because my check engine light turned out. I let John know I had just changed the spark plugs. As it turned out, the plugs that were recommended at the auto part store were the wrong ones. He told me the correct ones to use instead. I replaced them myself and now my car is running great. Blaine’s looked at my car for no charge! They also replaced my brake pads and rotors for a decent price and had the car done within a couple of hours. This was my first experience with Blaine’s and it will not be my last. I will not take any of our vehicles anywhere else.

I took a recently purchased Ford truck to the Ford dealer and paid them $149 to do a vehicle wellness check with emphasis on the front suspension and steering. I already knew the truck had passenger side exhaust manifold leak, rear sway bar links that were present but broken and no longer connected to the sway bar and at least one bad wheel bearing. I specifically asked them to check the exhaust manifold and the wheel bearings. After a hour and a half they reported to me that the suspension was fine, the exhaust system was O.K. and specifically that the manifold was not leaking. They said that the rubbing noise from the front suspension was a bad axleshaft bearing but the wheel bearing were fine. I just paid the fee and left and went home to do my own diagnosis. I reconfirmed the leaking manifold and found two additional exhaust leaks.I called up John at Blaines and made an appoint to have him look over my truck because I had recently had work done on my BMW and was thoroughly impressed with the the work done and his knowledge of automotive repair. Within 30 minutes I was told and shown that the front suspension was in horrible condition and also dangerously close to failure that could lead to an accident. He confirmed that the wheel bearings were bad and that it was unlikely that the axleshaft bearing needed repair without removing the axleshafts to look at them or at least repairing the suspension to eliminate its problems and noises from the diagnosis. He also pointed out that the driveshaft carrier bearing, which supports the two piece driveshaft, was completely inoperative. The rubber that holds the shaft inside the bearing housing was completely gone and the shaft pieces just flopped around inside the support. Most of the mechanical issues with this truck were obvious and easy to diagnose even to someone without automotive knowledge, but the ford dealership as well as another shop I asked to check over the truck, missed everything that was wrong with my truck. I am very thankful to John and his staff for apparently paying attention in their auto diagnosis and repair classes and I will most definitely use them again.

My Audi A4 Convertible’s “Check Engine” light has been coming on since we purchased it. We’ve been to Audi dealers shops all over the state and even two in another State and they’d clear the code and tell me “Took care of the problem” and like clock work, the “Check Engine” light Would always come back on two to three weeks later. I would always get the same answer from Dealers and shops “We don’t know what’s wrong” We took the Audi to Blaine’s and told John what was going on and he said “I know what the problem is, I have two of them myself” Blaine’s fixed the issue and we no longer have an issue with our car. Blaine’s is a great shop. John and his staff are trustworthy and fair and we would highly recommend Blaine’s to anyone who needs work done on their vehicles. The shop is clean, organized convenient to get to and best of all John is honest.

Car wouldn’t start and had to have it towed to Blaine’s. I have a 2015 Dodge Durango. I could tell Blaine’s was busy, but John was very patient and genuine to hear what was going on. He did not try to over talk or come off cocky as some mechanics do. He took the car same-day and figured out the issue (which turned out to be a failing battery). I should mention that even though the problem was somewhat simple, John was very knowledgeable about the issues that could cause the error messages I was getting and was prepared for the worst but started with the least expensive fix first (which turned out to be all the car needed). He remained communicative throughout the process and didn’t charge an arm and a leg in labor. He had the car back the next day good as new and even followed up to make sure it was running well. The price was very fair and the service was best I’ve seen at an auto repair shop.

FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY found my new home for auto repair and maintenance. My experience with Blaines was very pure bliss after the last several trips for auto repair. Blaines dealt with and repaired several issues, got the car done ahead of schedule and for less $$$ than I expected. Most of the repair shops I have tried in the Plainfield / Joliet area are complete hacks. Most places keep the vehicle for at least a week. They charge at least $1000 (no matter what the problem is). The usually DO NOT permanently fix the problem (sometimes they dont perform any work at all). Then in the end, they return the vehicle a complete mess. None of this is exaggerated. All this happened to me 3 times IN A ROW at 3 different places for the same problems. DONT waste your time and money with any other shop. Blaines will take care of you. Highly recommended. Thanks to all the guys over there. I was running out of hairs to pull outta my head.

Quick service for sure, brought in Thursday, done by Monday, but work is just careless at times. Brought in for a brake job in late feb, 4 new rotors, but now just 2 months later, one rotor is on the verge of being warped because someone forgot to change 1 of the pads? If they were all new pads, this wouldnt happen. Whats the point of getting new rotors if the pads are worn/starting to wear down... At least tell me. Was told by family that this was a good, and close place to get my vehicle fixed, now I have to get it done by another mechanic.

My 2009 Honda Odyssey had an oil leak which was causing a burning oil smell in the cabin of the van. It turned out to be a value cover and a spool (Vtech) value. My research also showed that this type of leak can also ruin alternators. John was able to fix the gaskets and alleviate the leak. Thumps up for Blaines Auto.

First time ever meeting honest mechanics. I had traveled and left my car in the garage, dont know what happened but it refused to start, so a friend of mine recommended me to their shop. Talk about honest people, I was gonna be charged $800 for a new starter but they told me that something was just stuck in the motor gears and I only paid $50. I requested 4 quotes from yelp to replace rotors and pads, which john was one of two who actually provided a quote. I called him to discuss. He was easy to talk with and was able to fix my car the same week. I would go back to Blaines.
