I was highly impressed with how quickly and cleanly they removed a large Elm tree that was too close to my house. The team accidently broke one of my windows and was quick to inform me and apologize- I understand accidents happen.What completely baffles me is that two weeks and several calls later, the Arborist that scheduled the work has refused to return my calls in relation to getting the window replaced. He even stopped by my house when I wasnt home without notifying me (I assume to inspect the damage), but couldnt find the time to call? Highly unprofessional and frankly for this level of service I can get my landscaping done for far less elsewhere.

At the beginning of summer I had bamboo removed from my back patio. Unfortunately, many of the roots were retained and new shoots repopulated. Nick came and assessed the issue and provided a fair and competitive estimate.Nick and his team’s performance was outstanding. The project was about a day and half, the crew provided me with updates and brought in additional equipment to ensure all roots were removed. They hardscaped the area and also resealed the flagstone, which had come loose. The patio now looks better than ever.Nick and his team completed the work on time and truly went beyond expectations at removing all the bamboo and retained roots. Overall, a tremendous job completed and would highly recommend them.

I would highly recommend Macfarland Tree and Landscape Services for all your tree needs. Nick is the arborist that gave us an estimate. He was timely in providing the estimate on the spot and was very reasonable. He outlined the work that would be completed. After the deposit was made, the work was completed within the week in one day for 3 trees that needed lot of pruning. Eric did the work with his work partner and they ensured we were satisfied with the work in real time. They cleaned up the area and left the three trees in great looking pruned state. The McFarland team was outstanding with the work provided across the board. Nick came out on a Monday for an estimate and his team was at my house in two days to do the work. I live in Fairmount and had a few branches trimmed down from a big tree in another yard. I also had landscaping done in my small backyard. Two different McFarland teams came out and were top notch. I also might add it was the week of the hurricane rains and flooding that came through Philly. The McFarland team did not miss a beat and was a well oiled machine. I can not begin to express how great my yard looks now as well as seeing the the Philly skyline much better. I called a few other landscape companies as well to get some quotes and the experience was miserable and a waste of time. Nick and his team did an amazing job. They were always punctual, responsive and neat. I didn’t have to do any cleaning up after the job was completed and Nick was flexible and easy to work with during the design and quoting process. I had a tree removed in my backyard by McFarland. Nick and his crew were very responsive, incredibly nice, and did an unbelievably good job cleaning up afterwards. I had actually hired a cleaning service to come and cancelled them after seeing what a great job McFarland had done!

Nick and his team are great. We had consistent flooding in our basement after a stone patio was put in, even after having drains replaced, lines cleared, etc. Nick drew up a plan to add drainage off the patio, drew it up, and had it installed in two days. The team was great - on time, polite, and professional. Nick followed up regularly when it rained to make sure everything was good - we haven’t had a drop in the basement since. We had an excellent experience with the pruning of our row home backyard cherry tree. McFarland staff were professional, gracious and thorough in their work.

EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. Make you wait 2weeks for an appointment onky to get a call 1hr before saying we dont want your business. Obviously they could care less about customers. Never have i had been involved with a business that could care less. Would not use them even if it was free.

McFarland was a great find for us. We have a lot of house with a lot of yard that had some real gaps. Peter was incredibly quick to respond, envision and counsel. Within a day we had a plan, and his crew showed up the following week - every day, on time, constantly working - with great attention to detail. Incredibly polite, friendly and knowledgeable (and also great with our dogs!). They came in under budget and beyond service. Our needs ranged from horticultural design to installation to various hard scape repairs. Every completed component exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend and will continue to work with them as our design needs grow and evolve with their help. I should add that this all took place within the eye of the Pandemic. Peter not only met our needs - and safely - but also kept his crew working and safe as well.

I paid to have work done that was never fulfilled. I Also received a no call and no show. I called the company to see what was going since it had been almost two weeks of no response. I was met with the most disrespectful, rude, inconsiderate old hags of customer service . I was hung up on 4 times. NOW .at this point I just wanted to be reimbursed and was met with a dial tone again. Worst customer service and never even had service done on the property yet. Ill keep my hard earned money and go to another company who will respect Business period and the perfessionalism of customer service.. This was tragic.

This weeks wind storm irreparably damaged the big Bradford pear tree in my tiny Center City backyard. My center city front tree and backyard have been expertly cared for and nurtured to beauty for decades. I have nothing but the highest praise to say about them. My back yard faces north and is shaded by neighboring trees. It is difficult to maintain trees, bushes, and a garden under these conditions. I had damage due to a large felled tree from a recent storm. The situation was complicated by fallen limbs pressing against several other healthy trees and my neighbors fence. The felled tree also brought down masses of invasive vines which dropped like large, heavy bushes all over the yard. Despite a difficult job, my experience with McFarland was excellent. A prompt quote, competitive price, stellar customer service, a job completed quickly, safely and exactly as described. Clean up was meticulous and immaculate. Couldnt have asked for anything more! . The crew that performed the labor were first-rate. They carried out physically dangerous and difficult work with great efficiency, skill and professionalism. McFarland has maintained my Center City patio for 15+ years. It is not a hospitable environment for greenery. The company provides seasonal care and replacement, when needed, of trees, shrubs and hardscape. Peter McFarland is a knowledgeable professional and willing problem solver. He is readily available if I have a concern. The men who do the work are friendly, courteous and prompt. The company also maintains the trees and landscape within my townhouse complex. These greatly enhances its appearance. I strongly recommend McFarland.

Called to get a quote to cut my lawn. The secretary was very sarcastic and a little ride. Usually if a company wants business, especially in this covid society where companies are losing business, I would think a company would be a little bit more gracious and warm. Customer service is everything to me so I would not recommend this business.

The grass, trees, shrubs and hardscape are well maintained and treated for diseases and pests. Trees have been removed and stumps ground out same day! He even has a professional team of specialists who can fell a gigantic white pine tree with minimal disruption and they prune these trees for us like nothing we have ever seen. The entire property is sprayed for ticks each month to protect my dogs who are free to roam inside our fence. The trees are treated to protect them from invasive species of bugs and diseases. Nothing is harmful for my dogs! The 400+ trees and shrubs he has planted are healthy and big, blending in seamlessly with our mature landscaping. His pricing is fair and all services are individually priced. He shows up! He shows up when he says he will show up! Hell take care of your property without you being there. His crew will happily accommodate on site requests. His crew will wave hello!

The McFarland Landscapers Company met every commitment to me from the initial estimate to completion on the job. The work was professionally completed. One would never know the trees waste was ever on the lawn or pavement. The area was clean. I had a question about a stump that had intertwined with my fence and a full explanation was provided with recommendations for the next pruning of two trees. The cost of the work was great. I highly recommend this company to take care of tree work. I probably would say the same about lawn care it they did that work. I can’t say enough about patience either. McFarland landscapers are one of the most professionals and well run landscapers in the Philadelphia area. For years they have been landscaping my home as well as many of my neighbors homes. When I was planning a park cleanup at Wharton Square Park in Point Breeze, I reached out and within 24 hours got a response from Paul Morano, one of their outdoor living specialists, about a giant donations of wood chips they could donate. Overall, a very well run, organized and professional organization who should be first on your list to do your job!

My neighbor uses them. The people are fantastic but the vehicles they are forced to operate are in awful mechanical condition. Fuel all over my street where they parked.You can SMELL the fuel from this thing. Totally unacceptable.

Very fair price, quick, clean work!

Peter McFarland and his experienced staff have transformed my historic property here in Philadelphia.Working here since 2014, from then to 2015 when the major projects were started and finished, the following was accomplished: established a new gravel and cobblestone driveway, new front lawn, tree removal, three pergolas, replanted and landscaped pool area, courtyard hardscaping with bluestone, existing stone and brick, new bluestone and cobblestone front patio, new bluestone front walkways, re-established back terrace, left side yard Japanese Maple tree garden, right back side yard peony and hydrangea garden and lawn, Wissahickon Chist garage facing and planter walls, backyard entrance path and shrubbery, repair of existing stone walls and steps in the backyard. Of course it is all beautiful and was an investment.When I moved here, it was apparent that two backyard 150 foot Sycamore trees had to be removed since they were dead. I had several known tree services come for estimates. Upon seeing the property and seeing the house, the only option for 2 of the services was to bring a crane in to remove the trees and carry them over the house at prohibitive cost. Peter came here, saw the situation, and told me that all he needed was two men, two chainsaws and rope. The tree (one at a time) would be removed in about 3 hours.That’s exactly what occurred. The backyard trees came down wondrously and easily. Then he brought in a chipper to remove the stumps. The fact is that when Peter says something will be done, it’s gets done. That’s what you are paying for. McFarland Tree & Landscaping service is not cheap. However, if you have invested in a beautiful home, a beautiful landscape has to be part of the overall design, maintenance, and value of the property. Also, his staff are talented maintenance guys and gifted stone masons. The work they do is first-rate. You do get what you pay for.These photos are mine. I enjoy every time they are here to work.

Completely incompetent staff. The receptionist gave me misinformation time and again when I called to follow up on receiving a quote. When I finally received the quote, it lacked everything discussed but still reflected the higher price. When I tried to get reconciliation, they never responded. Unprofessional!!

We called McFarland for a quote re: a tree that fell. We were very pleased with their timely response and professional review in providing us a quote.

Quoted one price after the job completed received invoice came for another price which was increased, cant seem to get the invoice corrected! Office staff says they handle invoices but keep stating they will tell the person who oversees scheduling. It appears to be a bait and switch in pricing.

Got some brushes damaged due to car accident. When first contacted them, they are very nice in helping, getting estimated done, and got the plants replaced. On month 2, some plants started turn brown at the bottom, and one of them is leaning on one side. Contacted them and they said they straighten the plants, and the brown is normal due to shock. On month 3, 2 of the plants turn 80% brown. Tried contacted them through emails and left voice messages but no response (over 2 to 3 weeks). I will continue trying to reach this company but until I got a response, this rating remains.

Not worth it. Find another company. Schedule a date for them to come out and remove a tree in my backyard and no one showed up
