This place could be one of the best planet fitnesses in the area but the free weights are literally never in the right place. If the staff would take the time to put them in order one time, users would put them back where they are supposed to go. But since Ive visited here occasionally for over a year, not once have they been remotely in order. Makes it frustrating to work out here, especially when youre already on a time crunch to get your daily lift in. I would be a member to this location if this changed. But Im a member elsewhere (farther from my house) solely because of this. No effort to improve quality and convenience.

PF is perfect for my early bird mindset. Its clean. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Its never too crowded at 5:30am☺️

Convenient and inexpensive. Staff is pleasant and helpful. People tend to not wipe down machines too often at this location. But staff does it’s best to keep a clean safe environment.

I want to like this place but its gotten a lot more crowded.After work the free weights section is overflowing while the treadmills and ellipticals are about 20% used.The last two times I was unable to use the 25lb weights for close to 30 minutes because they were being hoarded by people using 3 sets of weights at once.Please expand the free weight section to account for the usage and get more free weights so us regular folk can get a chance.

Happy with my Gym choice! Staff is very friendly, down to earth and helpful. The Gym is clean, never crowded, & Covid 19 regulations are being followed! Also the Gym hours are great I definitely needed a Gym that was open at 5:30/6AM due to my work schedule and almost all the other Gyms I looked at had horrible hours so Id recommend Planet Fitness!!! Very satisfied member 👍

For the price and location in proximity to my house, it is hard to beat. I do wish there were actual bench presses, similar small eco gyms have them and have a cleaner feel while being smaller. Overall pretty laid back enough gym, not much of hardcore workout persona feel and pretty spacious for South Philly. Hours are also somewhat more extended at this time versus other similar price gym that probably won me over in terms of accessibility.

No issues with getting on the machines I want.Staff is friendly and accomodating and the pla e is kept really clean.

This Planet Fitness is like any other PF. It’s pretty big and has the same machines throughout. It’s always very busy after work to the point where you can’t get a machine. I’ve waited almost 15 minutes to get on a smith machine because there’s only 4 of them. They have a ton of cardio equipment but only 3 stair masters. Recently I went to use the water fountain and it had a build of of brown slime around the spout so I had to get a water in order to stay hydrated because I didn’t want to drink out of the dirty fountain.

This Planet Fitness has the worst free weight organization I have ever seen. All of them were in random places all over the rack. I have never seen this in all of PF clubs I’ve been to. This club only has some of the proper markings for the free weights. It was very confusing and highly inefficient. My advice to management/the franchisee is to properly number all of the free weights and actually organize them. Not labeling them properly causes people to put them back in random places. Please fix this.

Needs more mat space. Weight lift benches are crowding weight training area.

This location is always clean, the staff are friendly, and it has way more equipment than the one on Columbus Blvd. It can get really crowded during peak hours so I’d suggest coming at a down time.

Its a gym. Staff is friendly. Big problem is its members seem to be there to socialize, not with other members, by texting and making calls while occupying the equipment. Staff wont police this activity. Workout takes much longer waiting for a machine. These members become irate when approached and asked to be considerate of others. They continue to recruit new members and crowding is compounded by these cell phone activities. They also insist on access to your checking account, no credit cards accepted.

If you do not want to take your workout seriously the cheapest of all gems 👍💪😀 up to you

Ill preface my review with that I frequent both Fox Street and South Philly PF locations. I have a few major gripes with this location:1. The equipment needs to be maintained better. The one assisted/dip pull-up machine on the right feels way off, and has been like that for a few months. It likely needs a full tear-down and re-greasing. One each of both the leg extension machines and the hip abductor machines are also pretty bad.2. The plated weights are disintegrating. The rubber is well beyond its useful lifespan. Some of the plates even have the metal underneath exposed. The rubber leaves your hands completely black when you handle them.3. The dumbbell weight rack is always out of sorts. The staff is super aggressive about telling you to put the weights back where they belong, but none of the weights are ever in their proper place. I even had an incident with an off-duty employee harassing me and my friend for not putting the weights back where they belong. Im not an employee of Planet Fitness so Im not going to spend 10 minutes re-racking dumbbells in their proper places just so I can put a set of weights back where they belong. Ill put them back provided theres a proper place to put them back in.4. The cleanliness is something to be desired. There are always empty drink containers scattered throughout the gym. The Purell dispensers have caked on dirt, and the urinals in the Mens bathroom look like they havent been properly cleaned in at least a few days.5. Signage is falling down, and the floors look like theyre getting ready to come up in places. The front lighted sign nearest the desk looks like a high school students project in wood shop. Other signs have been missing pieces or just hung poorly.Really what it boils down to is resources and maintenance. I see at least two to three people behind the counter when I walk in. I think the employees should have a constant rotation every hour or so, going around the gym. Dispose of the empty abandoned drink containers, wipe down some of the most glaring spots, clean the bathrooms, and keep the dumbbell weight rack in order.The gym needs some major maintenance. The signage needs to be fixed, the floors need to be addressed (nearest the cable machines), and the plates needs to be replaced.The gym is probably one of the busiest PFs in the Philadelphia area, and it needs way more attention than its getting.

Great gym. Im new to the area so I decided to check out this planet fitness. Everything is clean inside and they have the machines marked off for social distancing. Im glad the gyms opened the back up. You just got to wear a mask.

Gym is great has everything I could need, crowd is not too bad when I go, parking extra easy, staff are nice, love the updates of the gym, very clean. Only wish they had a sauna in the locker room, if so I would definitely upgrade to a black card membership. Will get five stars if they get a sauna!

1835 Market St, Philadelphia is the best layout so far compared to the other locations. The shower stalls are big and nicely designed. I’m glad to see that this location has rowing machines. This location reminds me that I am at a spa minus a spa room (lol). The hydro massage bed is the icing on the cake after working out hard. I commend the night shift workers for working hard in keeping the place clean. Looking forward for when 1125 Chestnut St. opens in January 2020.

Lax with enforcing masks . I notified the staff and they did a quick walk around but didn’t say anything to anyone. I’m not interested in a super spreader gym experience.

I lost my ear pod while on the stairmaster Jamie and Erik from the South Philly ( Oregon Ave) took the machine apart twice to be sure to find it and did so with patience and professionalism . I want them to know that I really appreciate them!!!

Overall a good facility to come in to get your sweat on.The place is in a shopping plaza - so plenty of surface lot parking available. Also there is bike racks before the main entrance to chain you wheels in case you work out before your work out.Inside its roomy with plenty of cardio machines (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, etc.), along with stair climbers, weight machines, free weights, and floor room.My last visit was during night time (around 8pm) and it was not too crowded. I was able to get my cardio fix in on the elliptical before heading towards the weight machines. I liked that there was plenty of options and lots of room so youre not limited on space or comfort. I noticed all the ellipticals have charging capabilities but only if you have an iPhone 4 or previous - which arent as prevalent any more! I wish this can be updated to allow for me to use this option while on the machine.Overall I think for what you pay at a monthly rate, you get a lot out of it. There are also options to enroll in physical education, and semi guided work outs for abs and full body (30 minute) work outs.I will be coming in regularly given the ease of getting here and the options available.

Watch out for hidden fees! Beware. I have not yet found time to go to the gym since I’ve been working full time . Later on down the line I found a 20$ deduction from my credit card. When signing papers read the fine print carefully because they won’t tell you about the hidden fees! Even if you were to ask!

I’ve been going to the gym for several years and I like it and it’s good for the money but I don’t know WHAT MADE MANAGEMENT TAKE OUT EVERY ARC TRAINER?!?!?THIS MAKES NO SENSE UNLESS JUST BEING CHEAP!!RUINED MY ROUTINE AND IT’S THE CLOSEST PF FOR ME!!!I know I’m not the only one who misses them!

A nice gym, Planet Fitness has lots of equipment to fulfill your exercise and to keep you fit. They have trainers to keep you on point. Parking is convenient a relaxed atmosphere.

I seriously don’t know what to do. This place is the most convenient for me and my life. However the customer service has just taken a huge decline. I’ve talked to management and even called corporate and don’t see any attempt in caring about members from a large group of associates. Frankie, Jessica, and Jamie are the best. And the one guy is great too. Don’t know his name. I pay to be there and to use the facility. If I’m unhappy then someone should care. I leave I take $109.95 worth of membership fees with me. And those 5 will take another 5.

Planet fitness isnt what you see in the commercials. You can workout hard and make a reasonable amount of noise while your at it. At night at least. The machines are kept up and free weights although they may get mixed up they at least are all there. Also there are new renovations going on for the better. Overall worth a membership because its cheap and its. Good place to start your fitness journey. Or a good place to workout if you can only workout late night or early morning when some other gyms are closed.

Been to over a dozen planet fitness locations. This is hands down the worst. Theres no hot water for the showers. Ever. Its like they dont even have a hot water heater. Or if they do, its broken and no one has bothered to fix it. The changing room next to the showers have no tables AND NO HOOKS. SO YOU JUST HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR CLOTHES ON THE GROUND.

Peaceful, clean and convenient. Only thing missing is a sauna but everything else is perfect here.

Id give this place 2.5 stars if I could.. I used to go to the gym regularly but after an injury i chose a basic gym (more elliptical equipment) to slowly get me back into the gym without trying to do too much lifting... Planet has just that. Unfortunately this location makes it extremely hard to be motivated to go. If you dont go at 5 AM you will wait for just about every machine (especially the smith machines), there is never enough room to stretch because they do not offer an activity room so everyone does their body weight exercises where you stretch. Construction has consumed much of the gym floor right now pushing the machines into the center of the floors making it even harder if you do have to wait for a machine. Since the construction started i have seen 2 out of the 4 smith machines out of order more than once. I have lost a ton of motivation just coming here to jump on the elliptical because it has become so cramped. Also, its not like I stand around and have conversations with the staff but theyre not the friendliest bunch which makes it even harder to be a friendly morning person. In short, you get what you pay for.. except right now you get part of what you pay for since half of it is under construction.

It has its pros and cons, they need trainers and classes like zumba. Pro is you feel comfortable theres no dropping weights, no big guys wearing muscle tees, people of all walks of life attend the gym. Only other con I can think of is maybe more interactive staff and free weights

Ive been to numerous PF and all are spectacular. Never let down, this one however does not offer hrydro massage beds but they do offer massage chair like at the mall and full body enhancer as well as tanning beds. Spacious even at the busiest hours.

I have found a better atmosphere in my last visits. Friendlier staff, patient and the womens bathroom, locker room are very nice too.

Nobody at front desk when coming in. Then he sat on phone when leaving. Showers are scummy, slimy and dirty. Husbands shower had a bug in it. No hot water in mens shower. Water pressure was real low. Womens shower temp went up and down. No chairs in dressing rooms to sit and get dressed. Wont be coming back to this one.

You get what you pay for, they may not have the most advanced equipment in the world but its still a gym and if you work hard and stay motivated you can reach your goal with or without expensive equipment.The gym is great and Im always getting help, i dont know about the day time service since i only hit the gym at night. Its a lot less crowded around like 10 and you dont have to wait for the hydro massage. Though the only conplaint is that the workers are constantly off to the side chatting it up with people and seem a little preoccupied but once you come over for help they usually help.

The staff is great and the equipments are kept in top shape. My only recommendation is to address the ventilation in the mens locker room. I come here around 11pm daily when attendance is low and the stench of the locker room is unbearable. It needs more fresh air in the room. Thank you.(Edit: The ventilation has seen been improved. Im rating it a 4 star from 3. Best value for the money if you just need a clean place to work out)

I can only go to this gym at 5am when no one is there and I tend to need no assistance. I have not once experienced a nice staff member. I call on the phone to talk about how my training sessions are always cancelled before hand and she basically called me a liar. There has to be an easier way to check in. Having to wait for a staff member to DECIDE that they want to help me and then have them try to read my number and put it in the computer is just a waste of time and is not very progressive as a company.I can say the gym itself is nice and clean, the equipment works, but dont need staff assistance on how to use a machine. You would get better service if you injured yourself and had to call your own ambulance, than get someone in the gym to assist you.I am paying extra for services that no one has time to tell me how to use or you have to use a ripped massage chair that is/was sitting right behind the desk so you could look at peoples butts while you are trying to relax and relieve some tension. This site need new and TRAINED staff. You cant just hire young people off the street and expect them to care about your business. If you care about fitness like your company claim it does, then get better staff.Otherwise, I may have to go through this long drawn out cancellation process that everyone else is complaining about and spend money elsewhere.

Very disappointed in this location, Ive been going here for over 7+ years and the never had problems with staff until now, i came in and paid my monthly $20 black membership to a new younger staff, generally I wouldve ask for a receipt but I figured since the younger staff said i was taking care of I just left and thought, it wouldnt be a problem until now, the next day I went back in and the manager Brian said I owed for last month but one of his staff said dont worry about the receipt and I was taking care of. Bad judgement on my end and horrible service by this location. I went to la fitness and Im happy that they are much more professional.

I saw a charge on my credit card. I question it, the charge was from planet fitness thru abc who handles billing. I ask why was I charged 33.06 by them, it was my monthy fee and a late charge, I Said you emailed me you had trouble with my account, this is before I join. I have a knee problem, which I couldnt get into the gym to straight it out, I didnt even know that my membership went thru. I havent been able to use the gym I called planet fitness waiting 45 minutes and no one came on phone on customer service line. called Abc fIncancial they told me its the gym who I have to talk to, so I called planet fitness at Oregon ave in south philly. I ask them why the late charge first, cause my checking account was wrong. I dont have a checking account thats why I gave you my American express, well she said if you dont have a checking account we try twice then we bill you credit card and add a late fee, cause we like checking account, so I said cancel my membership, they refused, until I go into the gym. I cant walk which I told them, doesnt matter they said, and she said we are going to charge you 39 dollars memebership fee on irst of December which I said you cant I am not a member cancel they wont so watch out for these people terrible stay away

There is a treadmill thats really unstable, the whole thing shifts if you step on it. Ive reported it multiple times over the last few weeks and its still not fixed, and there is no sign on it to warn people. The treadmill cups are constantly filled with old paper towels or mushed up tootsie rolls. Its pretty gross. I sent an email online to let the club know, and they responded with a generic, cookie-cutter response that didnt actually address anythings. So heres my review:The gym is simple enough, has the equipment you would expect. That said, if you are going to use anything, sanitize it before you touch it. If youre going for a run on the treadmills or use the other cardio machines, be prepared to go on a few of them to find a clean one. I understand that you get what you pay for, and PF is dirt cheap, but if theyre going to spend money on staff to take care of this stuff, then maybe that staff should pay more attention. Most of the time now they just are hanging out behind the counter.

Ive had a membership here for the past 5 years, and a membership to planet fitness in general since 2012. This planet fitness is always clean and the staff is friendly and its almost always empty, which is kind of great.My only issue is that a few months ago, this gym replaced all of their gym equipment to the worst equipment Ive ever used. None of it is calibrated right, so you could be going on a elliptical for 40 minutes and barely get .7 miles, maybe 100 calories - same goes for the treadmills. There are no ledges on the treadmills to prop your phone up to watch something on your phone. There is a flat table top ledge but try watching a movie or show with your phone facing up on a desk while your doing jumping jacks because thats what its like - completely impossible and pointless.As a gym goer for years, I know how fast I can run and elliptical a mile and everytime I go here, the uncalibrated machines messes everything up. The new equipment this time around has really put me off coming back as frequently and Im sad to say Ill probably cancel in the near future.If you are just going to run/lift weights/ellipitcal/bike without being interested in your stats - distance, calories, time, etc. Then this is the place for you.

I signed up for $3.62.. then was charged another $22.06 in 6days... The tanning beds are closed for construction, which I dont understand why the construction is not over night not during the day... People have asthma and other medical conditions and allergies for all that dust to be in the air during the day!!! I just paid $25 dollars and all I can do is workout... The mens bathroom was off limit or locker room. Im very disappointed right now... I tried calling and the call wont go through just hangs up Everytime and I tried from two different phones.. My $400 watch was stolen from this place about a year ago by a worker so watch your belongings people.. I filed a police report but they cant do anything about it.. so corporate gave me 6 months free thats $120 not $400... The tanning rooms are a disgrace.. theres a couple good workers in there like the girl who signed me up other then that.. I would not recommend this place!!!!

I love the environment of the gym. You can clear your head, use the machines as you please and feel free to do as you please. Its really clean in there, machines and bathroom. Really glad I signed up.

I like it here. Theres alot of stuff Equipment to use and most of it is in pretty good condition. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five, is there treadmills. These things are so old that they have iPod hook ups on the treadmills that iPhone hasnt used in about ten years. You think they would spend a couple dollars just to switch the cords out. Im sure that could be done. And better yet P.F how about a cord with all the different hook ups. You know people have actually been buying more android phones, especially Galaxys then iPhones. Well with that being said I still like your gym for now.

Nice gym. My only issue is that there are a lot of people who walk away from a machine they just sweated all over,without cleaning it. There are always paper towels and cleaner readily accessible so theres no reason to not clean the machines when youre done. If the manager sees this, please talk to your staff about enforcing this rule and saying something to the people who do this. It happens way too much and I have yet to see anyone reprimanded for not cleaning the machines they use.
