Our family loves Pflugerville Martial Arts Academy! Our son attended the after school program last year, the summer camp this past summer and is enrolled again this year after school. I feel safe and confident having my son in their care. He has grown and matured under their guidance and has consistently belt graduated. The lessons include “bully training” which he definitely needs because of his small size. BONUS: my son loves going there!

My daughter has been going to Pflugerville Martial Arts Academy for almost 3 years. From the time that shes been there, weve met so many kind people and I have seen my daughter grow so much. It is a great place for children, teens and adults to learn not just martial arts but also dedication, respect and self-esteem.Its amazing watching the progress that students make. Ive seen so many students transform into young leaders. Every single day I have been there I have seen the students smile. They enjoy PMAA and want to keep going back.We really like the owners and have had a great relationship with them since day one. The facility is nice, open, comfortable, and well maintained. If you or anyone in your family are interested in starting or continuing your martial arts journey, I highly recommend you stop by Pflugerville Martial Arts Academy.

My name is Ken Morgan, Owner and Chief Instructor of Pflugerville Martial Arts Academy, and I am responding to Sonjas review. Her review is totally inaccurate and completely misleading, in fact we dont even show that she ever had a child registered for our camp!We call our camp the WorldWide Wonder Camp for a reason! Its WAY more than a karate camp.Although we instruct karate 3 days a week we also provide an educational cultural immersion experience. Every 2 weeks we study a different culture around the world including crafts, language, customs and more. We even have a parents presentation every other Friday so the parents can see what has been studied and learned, WHAT OTHER CAMP DOES THAT???We do provide outings and instead of increasing our rates we clearly state that outings are paid on a per activity basis! Why would we increase our rates by $25 per week when some of our outings are less than $10? Each year we establish a weekly amount that is the MAXIMUM that any outing would be charged for and parents are notified well in advance if any outing is going to be over that amount.I have been in the Martial Arts for over 50 years and have provided summer activities for kids for many of those years. We have repeat campers year after year after year because we are fairly priced and provide the kind of training, activities and supervision that the kids enjoy and the parents appreciate. Please see our other reviews.

Great place for your children or yourself to lean martial arts. The instructor is very clear and concise. Especially with the children. We came here for our sons enchrichment class ceremony and I am amazed with the instructor on how well he teaches the children discipline. Especially those who want to be the class clowns. Hes very authoritive while being professional and polite to the children. He tells them to be respectful to the other children and allow them time to shine while they are doing the moves. He explains in detail each martial art and self defense to the children to include adults around. I definitely liked being here watching the kids learn from the 64 year old instructor as he stated to us.He was very inspiring to them and provided words of encouragement. He would asked them like in how many years are you going to be the next president to calm their nervousness and fear of not trying because of embarrassment.I was happy to show up today.I will say do not park in the two parking spots in the front of it. It was very hard for me to get out their with a big vehicle on the other side.

We had signed up our daughter for a karate summer camp. My daughter was very disappointed in the camp as they only did karate for one day for 30 minutes. I would expect that a karate camp would have daily karate activities. If the camp is not a good fit for your child, there will be no refunds. There is a weekly rate for the camp but that does not include any excursions. I would expect a parent to spend another $25 a week in addition to the weekly rate. There are other choices for summer camps and I would recommend exploring options before committing your hard earned money here.

I highly recommend Dunn’s Academy of Martial Arts to kids and adults. Master Dunn is dedicated in providing the best quality of teaching in an energetic and family atmosphere. Everyone is treated with respect and kind regards with the greatest focus on developing individuals physical fitness, personal character and leadership skills. Each class is unique and carefully planned. In addition to traditional Taekwondo curriculum, you will learn about self-defense, sword fighting, bo staff and other exciting techniques. After carefully evaluating all schools in the area I found this school to be the best fit for my whole family.

My daughter has been going to PMAA for 4 years and is now has 2 Jr. black belts. The program has built her confidence levels so much that she announced yesterday she was running for class president in her 5th grade class. She has also been going to summer camp there for 3 years and is a Jr. leader. She loves the camps and programs they offer and Brenda and Ken are amazing. They have made a huge impact in her life and have built an amazing karate family. As far as the camp pricing and extra charges. My son goes to a different camp and the pricing is pretty much the same. He also has extra charges each week for fieldtrips, movies and swimming, so I dont see much of a difference between the pricing between the 2 camps.

Our daughter has been enrolled in this program since she was 8 years old. We started at the small dojo and then moved to the larger one. Through the years she has attended many activities such as; multiple summer camps, spring break camps, winter camps, parents night outs, lock-ins, and other events. Additionally, we have also attended adult events like the catered Valentines day event and others that they paid for out of their own pockets.Sensei and Mrs. Brenda really care about the children. So much so that they know and can speak about each and every child during their belt ceremony. Sensei is firm but fair and pushes the children beyond what they believe they can achieve, and Mrs. Brenda spoils them with positive motivation and encouragement. Spending as much time there as we have over the past few years we have seen what happens behind the scenes. The Morgans go out their way for their students and their parents.Over the years there has been one underlying theme to the Morgans. FAMILY. This dojo is more than a karate school.

We have been sending our daughter to Pflugerville Martial Arts for a year now. She has attended summer camp, Bushido camp (a week at Inks Lake), after school care, and evening classes. Ken and Brenda have become like family and take exceptional care of our child. Our child has a history of quitting everything she has tried for one reason or another but not with this program. She loves every minute she spends at the dojo and with Ken and Brenda.Recently I didnt sign her up for camp one week because she was going to spend the week with a friend. When the friend became ill, my daughter texted and asked if she could go to karate. I texted Brenda who said Of course! I was able to drop her off without much notice. While she was at Bushido camp they respected her choice of being a vegetarian and made sure they had food she would eat. They also made a special trip into town to purchase her Zrytec when she spilled her pills and couldnt find them in her bag.Several people have complained on here about the cost of the camp. Let me assure you it is reasonable. The base rate is low and the additional costs are minimal each week. You also agree to this when you sign up as it clearly states in the parent agreement the additional fees. Our daughter has had a great summer because of the camp and the caring staff.Pflugerville Martial Arts is an amazing place with 2 caring adults running the program. They have made a positive difference in our daughters life and we couldnt be more happy with the program.

Regardless of the one star reviews below, I would like to emphatically state that Pflugerville Martial Arts has a great program. Dojos are a place of respect and honesty. Your kids will be challenged and some parents cant take that. Both of my kids have attended PMA, my husband attends class 3x per week and has recently earned a black belt. As a family we stand behind PMA. Every dojo is different. This dojo, teaches a specific style of martial arts. They also teach self defense. Ken is very passionate that every girl, boy, woman and man have the basic skills to defend them selves and most importantly get away from an attacker.Ken is a father and grandfather who cares deeply and it shows in his classes. He is tough but very kind. He breaks it down for the littles but challenges them to go farther than they thought they could. He intensifies that for older kids and adults. We have trusted Ken and Brenda with our kids for a full week summer camp at inks lake and didnt think twice about it. They are amazing people. AND running a small business is hard work.I wish more people had the ability to make gracious assumptions and talk to the business owner to solve the problem vs jumping to vent their anger with nasty reviews. Let me repeat... running a business is very hard. Things slip, emails may not get returned, your parent may die and you cant focus for a while, things happen, and you still have to show up and do the work... give people a break, be gracious. Not every business is made for every person. If you dont aline with the values of the company or how it is run, move on, there are other dojos that you will match up perfectly with.Karate isnt cheap. Very few extracurricular activities are. But if you are committed and actually show up, and doing the work you get more than your moneys worth in discipline, exercise and skills. As for the after school program, I think it is cheap compared to some of the other daycare style programs out there that just house your kids. 10-15 hours per week plus picking them up from school... its only a few dollars more than the pfisd EDP program.Summer camp... have you priced summer camps lately? Art camp $360, Camp double creek $330, gymnastics $295... very few camps are below $200 a week and include field trips, swimming, culture, martial arts, crafts... Remember you have $5k per family for daycare / camps via your federal income tax deduction. When you are looking at reviews, take into account the outliers who complain first from those who truly tried to solve the problem and could not work it out and want to leave a rational review that is 3* and below, discount the outliers. Often it is from those that complain first or competitor astro-turfing, and sometimes it is a legitimate beef with the owner that you should pay attention to.Ken Morgan has been teaching martial arts for over 60 years. He knows his stuff and he is a tough but kind teddybear. He and Brenda have our trust.
