I brought my van in for work expecting to have my water pump replaced and was told it was only a heater valve. I was very happy to hear that news. Lee and Richard were very friendly and I felt very comfortable trusting my repairs with them. They were courteous and fast and accommodating. I will be back the next time I need work done on my vehicle.

My fiance and I have been going to Dans for years. They are knowledgeable and fast. Their prices are transparent and fair. They have helped me with everything from inspections when buying a new car to front brakes to power steering issues. They are never rude. I recommend scheduleling ahead of time over phone. We have since moved 30 minutes from them but we will continue to use them as our primary mechanics.

I am a 5+ years loyal customer and fan of Dans Auto Repair. I still remember coming into their shop in the Summer of 2014 because I discovered my catalytic converter was professionally stolen and sawed off after hearing the loud rumblings coming from my former car. Brad (now retired) took me through my options. He let me know straight up how much the replacement and labor costs would run. I had an idea (an expensive one) beforehand because I did lots of online research on this type of repair work.Brad quoted me a price that was lower than anything I found in my research. The repairs were still costly, but Brad and the team did the job right. Thats why I ALWAYS take my latest car for all major repairs (except tire replacements) and routine maintenance to Dans Auto Repair.I drive 30 minutes each way for oil changes and tire rotations because thats how much I trust them. Lee, Billy, and Brady and the entire staff are not in the auto repair business. They are in the trust business. I trust these gentlemen to do excellent work, explain the repairs in terms I understand, and most of all, treat me fairly.Theyve earned my trust over many years. I had a problem with my car shaking when on the highway. We took it to a repair shop we used before. They said it needed a caliper and would be around 900.00 to replace. I live half a mile from Dans and read most of his reviews and called them. Got an estimate that would save about 200.00. Took it to them and turned out all it needed was brake shoes pads etc. Total was 267.00. That included an oil change.They are great, friendly and they have a new customer. Thanks guys.

I called looking for a estimate on some work, that had been quoted elsewhere. The person I spoke with told me they didnt do quotes over the phone, which I can respect, but they clearly didnt have any intention of helping me. They asked if they had seen any of my vehicles before, when I answered no. they said they werent interested and hung up on me. I understand their right to refuse service, but they were rude and unprofessional.After that experience, I would not recommend using their services.

Incredibly helpful staff. Both Dan and Billy have been incredibly patient with my questions and rescheduling. I was actually really amazed at how they took the time to explain everything to me and offer the best solution that would accommodate what I needed. These guys are genuine and they care, it shows too.

This is the most honest and helpful shop. Their goal is to keep you going but giving you knowledge about what to pay attention to.

On Sunday 11/10/19 I drop off my vehicle in front of the big window between the 2 garage doors. On Monday 11/11 I got a call from Dans from Billy saying he couldnt hear the problem truck was too loud my catalytic converter was cut off right there in front of the shop it was that or the shop cut it off themselves either way Im not happy with the place and Ill never take my vehicle there again.

Really cool people. They got my cars muffler fixed very quick. I am very pleased with the work done.

My mom was told by another shop that she needed $1100 worth of repairs and that her wheel could fall off. They told her the axle shaft was fused to the hub assembly. She took it to Dan’s and they fixed it for $499 and got the hub assembly off in under 2 minutes. My mom doesn’t have a lot of money and this could have cost her a trip with her family later this year. Cheers to Dan’s. Take your car here.

Honest mechanics, great spot for automotive care/support.

The lady at the desk was unfriendly and couldnt care less that I was there. Went in for new breaks since mine are older and started to squeak going down hills. I made an appointment to have them changed and had to explain several times I simply wanted my breaks changed. After a while the grumpy lady at the desk informed me that since it didnt squeak in the few minutes they drove it (no hills barley trying ) they would have to wait. This being said they were over scheduled even with having an appointment and the real reason it seamed that they didnt do it was a time issue after a few years your breaks do need changed. If a customer comes in and wants to get their breaks done sooner than later it shouldnt be a problem. They need to improve their schedulin and the way they present themselves.

Ive been here a few times, most recently to get a wheel bearing replaced on my 2001 Subaru Legacy. For a long time I thought the noise I was hearing was on the front driver side but after bringing it in on the day they scheduled me they checked it with a stethoscope and called me to let me know they thought I was wrong and that it was actually the passenger side, and they were right. Had they blindly done what I requested without confirmation I would have been out a lot of extra money for a repair I didnt need. I had also asked, before taking the car in, if they would be willing to replace the rotor and brake pads on the same wheel since you have to remove all of that stuff to replace a bearing and they said no problem, but I failed to confirm the diameter of the rotor on the car before ordering the part I brought in. They put the original rotor back on with the new brake pads I brought in and said, If you can get the correct rotor well put it on there for free. They provided me with the part number I needed and I found it was in stock at OReilys, brought it in and they put it on the next morning. I should add that before I took the car in I shopped around to other nearby mechanic shops to ask for estimates and Dans was the cheapest and they also did not try to inundate me with jargon to make the problem sound potentially worse than it was. Also, a few years ago, I called Dans as well as a couple of other places (including one in Lawrence) to ask for an estimate to get a transmission replaced. All of them quoted about the same price, but Dans offered the best warranty by far.
