My husband has been attending U of G for about 5 years, and as a loved one watching him grow and develop, this place is awesome. He has been struggling with health issues for almost the entire time hes been training here and the team has helped him so much. Marc is incredibly understanding, patient, encouraging and supportive. He and his team are amazing. I recently scheduled a one on one training session with Marc for my husbands birthday and he is so excited for it. I so appreciate everything they have done for my husband, and our whole family. I can not recommend them enough. Thanks for being the best!

I have trained at 4 different gyms in Utah and this is by far the best when it comes to grappling. Its hard to believe that this high level of training is available in Utah! Usually people this good are in big cities like LA or New York.I love how welcoming the environment is and how clean it is. They literally clean the mat after every hard training session... and if youve ever trained in multiple places you KNOW how rare that unfortunately is. The place feels more like a club than a Gym... Everything is so nice they even have locker rooms and showers.

Its a fine gym with terrible management. I signed a very expensive 6 month term and was immediately sent to work out of town to work ( not their problem) so I was paying an extra $150 a month for nothing, thats fine I can deal. The 6 months has come and gone they are still charging me that money 4 months after not showing my face there. I have called and left over 14 voicemails and not a single response. I have payed over $1200 dollars this year for absolutely no reason. Very cool guys.

Best place to train in Utah. Coach Brewer is an awesome man has a love for grappling that is unmatched by anyone. His dedication to grappling in the way he trains, lives, and teaches is easily seen in his gym. They have always been welcoming even to someone like me who stops training for sometime and comes back. They are also very family friendly. I have been unable to find a babysitterand was still told to come to class and bring my child. The training cant be beat. I work in Law enforcement and the skills I have been taught help me feel and stay safe. I can control people with little force if its needed and feel safe and in control doing it. I highly recommend training here with Coach brewer and all the other people that make University of Grappling so great!

I visit Utah regularly from southern CA, I struggled to find a good jiu Jitsu academy until I found UofG. Now I never go anywhere else. Head coach Marc brewer brings world class wrestling and black belt jiu Jitsu together, I would strongly recommend for any beginner who wants to learn and if you’re a competitor don’t go anywhere else.

Amazing experience. I am an amputee and I wrestled in high school. After losing my leg I never thought I would wrestle again. The instructor here, Marc Brewer, has an incredible talent for teaching to whatever skill level and was able to teach me how to approach grappling as an amputee. This is a great gym for anyone and everyone interested in grappling. You will certainly leave stronger than you came.

Coach Marc and I became aquaintences while I was still in Afghanistan and invited me to attend his school at my earliest convenience. During my week there he came every day, twice a day, and often stayed let to ensure I was set up for success. He stays late every day and is always the hardest worker in the room. Im a brown belt under Roberto Maia but quickly found Coach Marcs style more effective and more powerful and I plan on flying back to Utah as often as the Army permits to continue my education under him.

Marc is an excellent coach who strives to bring out the best in everyone who comes under his tutelage. He applies his engineering background to grappling to help students understand fundamental positions and technique. The gym has great mats (the softest I have trained on), a full set of weights to improve functional strength, and a great group of people to improve with.

Great experience here. I did not have any wrestling or jiu jitsu background when first coming to UofG, but the coaches, as well as the other students, want to help you develop your skills and become better, regardless of background and skill level. Grappling can be intimidating and tough, but UofG practices a high degree of safety while pushing you to improve yourself mentally and physically.

Its impossible to find a better group of people, better instructors or better techniques. If you are interested in submission wrestling or Brazilian Jujitsu, do yourself a favor and get to UG. I only have the opportunity to train here when Im traveling in the area, and Im very jealous of anyone that lives locally and has regular access to the wealth of knowledge found here.

I have been training here for almost a year. When I first started I had zero experience with wrestling or jiujitsu. Being over 30 and fairly overweight, I was afraid it might be too late and unrealistic for me to learn. I immediately felt welcomed by the coaches and the class. Dont let their tough exteriors deter you, everyone is so kind and helpful. When we roll, many of them will go at your pace and teach you what you should be doing during a live grapple. I have enjoyed it so much that honestly, my only regret is that I didnt start sooner. I wish I hadnt put it off as long as I did fearing the learning curve. 10/10 would recommend!

Joining UofG is one of the best life decissions Ive ever made. Its changed me and my life for the better. I walked in the door under sized, no confidence, and with zero experience. None of that mattered to anyone at the gym. Everyone from the kids, the white belts, to the black belts encourages and helps me be a better version of me. It doesnt matter if your a kid or adult on day one, or you are a seasoned fighter. The skill level of the coaching is unbelievable and undeniable. Marc and Tysons coaching doesnt stop when you step off the mat, thats only where it starts.

0 stars for anyone who bully children, specially when youre supposed to be an example for them. Thats right everyone, if youre not friends with the head coach by the name of Marc, make sure to keep your eyes open, as he is going to bully your kid, and when you confront him about it, he will disregard your concern and tell you that your kid is a liar, although you witnessed him grabbing your child in an unprofessional way. The other instructors are nice, but do not let this Marc come near your child. Just dont give your business to him, as he does not care about his clients. Marc is arrogant and unprofessional. By the way he did admit that he has no patience with children.

Definitely recommend UofG. I had zero experience with wrestling, jutjitsu, etc... and they have taught me from a range of complex techniques to beginner ones all adapting to my level of expertise and athleticism. Very talented coaches that know how to help you regardless of your abilities / skill level. And to top it all off theyre very nice and fun! I always enjoy it there. I left my shoes at the old gym before Christmas break and even during the move they still got them back to me. If youre second guessing coming because of fear, doubt, money, etc.... do it. Its worth. You should at least try it out! Initially I got motion sick, but I stuck with the 3 day trial and by the end of the third I felt much better! I take ginger now before rolling and dont get sick. Its such a great time (: Love it here, just recently upped my contract to a year one!

I have been training at University of Grappling for 3 years now. I had the pick of all the big time gyms with all of their awesome classes and great equipment and lets not forget the egotistical morons meat heads that just want to hurt people. A co worker told me to check out University of Grappling. From the time I walked through the door Ive been impressed with the everyone gets better thought process, where the belt you wear doesnt matter you can train with anyone in the room no one is going to try and prove their a bigger man then you. I take my 9 year old son to the adult classes with me and everyones rolls with everyone.

I started going to the going to the University of Grappling a year ago because I heard they had the best grappling in the state of Utah. I keep making that hour and a half drive one way to practice because I found out there is no other grappling program like the U of G! there is no cutting corners or fast track program, there is only hard work and growth that is proven to work time and time again. As a professional MMA fighter I trust only Marc and the guy at the U of G to get my ground game to be peak performance by fight night. It is such a calming feeling to know, for a fact, that my opponent doesnt have near the skill set I do because he doesnt train at the best grappling school.

I am a pro MMA fighter, my lack in ground work was not nearly where I thought it was. I had an opportunity to work with coach Marc Brewer for the first time a year ago and continue to train under him to this day. My ground has improved immensely and still improving, the drive, enthusiasm, motivation and technical aspect he offers is amazing. I live an hour away and I am willing to make this drive to train at U of G for this reason, nobody I know teaches in this manner. The environment is great and working with other students at this gym is a place that makes you feel like family, no egos here. U of G is a place for everyone of all ages, sizes, male and female from beginning to high level. Expect hard work because thats what it takes to become that much better.

Ive been to my fair share of gyms that offer BJJ, and I can honestly say this is my favorite. The coaches have very complimentary teaching styles and have a deep background in grappling that really shows through. One unique aspect of the gym is that they actually approach BJJ from start to finish, meaning starting on your feet. Very few places, whether for logistical reasons (mat space) or pedagogical biases, focus almost entirely on the once youre on the ground aspect and are in general very defensive/reactive. The kind of wrestling-based pedagogy transfers immensely well into BJJ for tournaments, practice, or self-defense and has really changed the way I approach my game in gi and no-gi.Due to my work schedule, my sessions at U of Grappling are basically the only social time I get during any given week. Its a fantastic place for it! From the clientele to the staff, everyone is relaxed, genuine, and welcoming. In terms of kids classes, Ive come early to do some lifting and have gotten to watch the kids BJJ. Id highly recommend U of Grappling for anyone with kids looking to enter martial arts, as they do a magnificent job keeping them all engaged, active, and learning (or practicing what theyre learning) the entire time. The atmosphere is alway positive and theyre genuinely having a good time on top of everything else. Fantastic balance of positive encouragement and mentorship without feeling coddling. All in all, I love U of Grappling and highly recommend it to anyone.

No place can be perfect for everyone, but for me this place was the most perfect I could have chosen with my personality and expectations.I have attended the University of Grappling in Lindon, UT, for exactly a year yesterday. To be frank, had I not met the now owner of the gym (Marc Brewer) when I first came in, but another desk individual (my second encounter), I would have interpreted an entirely different view of what U of G is all about.Marc Brewer, Ricky Lundell, and many other outstanding, good family men, and hard workers have taught and influenced me for the better.Having had most of my experiencing with Marc Brewer I will focus on my view of him and the current gym experience.Marc Brewer is a great coach! If you work hard and simply continue to step onto the mat he will be able to work with you and step by step help you develop skills you never thought possible. When rolling ( Sparring, wrestling, grappling, etc.) with Marc he applies just enough resistance to make you stretch and work for improvement. When a new concept is acquired he introduces you to the next level. When dealing with so many different styles, personalities, and backgrounds this is a very unique and valuable trait of his. Also, he will never allow you to be less than what you are striving for. If you want to achieve more, he will push you for more, and motivate you as best he can. If you want to come and lie on the mat each time breathing air, this may not be the place for you, and others may hope you will question, Why am I here if I dont want to work hard and get better? That being said, this is not a military camp. There are times where we sit, chill, discuss, and build the camaraderie that creates friendships. Those friendships keep us coming back to learn more. How much you put in and the hours worked will determine whether the cost is worth it. For me, I definitely have learned more than I pay! For a guy who was honestly NOT very uncomfortable with gymnastic type positions and strengthening exercises, I have grown a miraculous amount and developed skills I didnt think were possible thanks to Marc Brewer and the great guys at University of Grappling.Im a firm believer that if you want to know whether a thing is good for you, simply put your all into it and dont quit until you really know what its all about.Come, work hard, and prove it!

I recently took a week long visit to the utah valley midway through a fight-camp for my first professional MMA bout. I was concerned about the quality of gyms I that would be able to find for the week. My first day in Utah, I found this gym, a real diamond in the rough. Spent the entire week at The U of G.Coach Marc is an exceptional leader and has learned from some of the best. Their grappling is top notch and focused on top position. No lazy jiu jitsu here. The warm-up alone was a shocker to me and helped me think about my training differently. They really emphasize technique and athleticism. This is a perfect gym for any martial artist. Id say that if you really want to grow as a person, this is the place to go.Also, shoutout to the awesome team Marc has grown. His advanced students really lend a helping hand to the newer students.Dont cheat yourself. Hard work pays off.

I first met Marc (Head Grappling Instructor / New Owner) at the University of Grappling facility a little over a year ago. I had decided that I wanted to do MMA and already had competed once and was in camp for my second fight. From the time that we hit the mat, the instruction from the warm-ups to the drills and then the actual live rolling was like nothing I have ever experienced. It was hard, yet dynamic and fun and everyone was has a good time. The philosophy of structure, control and pressure and constent offense really helps you understand and execute the moves. Whether you come for selfdefense or just a past time workout; the UofG facility has everything that you need from free weights, cardio machines and even heavy bags. Under Marcs direction and in a span of 5 months at the time. I had been able to compete against some top quality athletes in MMA and Grappling - facing off against a Drysdale 4 Stripe Purple belt at Grapplers Quest Las Vegas in which I medaled to a 2 time Iowa All-American wrestler for a heavyweight Amateur belt in Arizona. He is now my head MMA coach and Im grateful to have him in my corner, he is responsible for a lot of my progress. The UofG Lindon crew that have been with Marc over the years are some of the finest men/women/athletes I know and Im honored to call them team mates and friends. What is nice is Marc actually grapples and rolls with all of his students regardless of size or experience. Which is great because his control and knowledge of grappling can enhance and speed up your own skills. It has mine. If your looking for a place to Wrestle / Grapple look no further than UofG Lindon and Marc Brewer - UofG Lindon is definitely worth every penny - Best in State!
