Will never go there again, didnt have a choice since they have a contract with discount tire. Wheel speed sensor was messed up after having new tires put on. Was told the manufacturer does not make speed sensors for my car and told no one makes aftermarket sensors either. Drove 5 minutes down the road to Orilleys auto parts and picked one up. Waste of my time, at least I get reimbursed for my part from discount tire. Dont bother
There usually overbooked make an appointment. Probably not the best shop for emergency situations unless you have a secondary vehicle. They make cars work but they are not thorough and they dont stress test the wiring. Had they spent more time understanding how its working they would be a great shop. But they can misdiagnose a car and have you buying parts that worked fine because they dont diagnose the overall systems. They just make it work and you come back for each problem. If you want that kind of service because they are competent. But they are not masters. I would call them a good shop with great potential if they balanced their workload. I came in there with a classic vehicle. They got it running but after that their were so many failures across the various systems. Such as ignition switch couldnt come out I had a backyard mechanic take it out. The shop left the old ignition in the vehicle. I first thought it was odd they couldnt install an ignition cylinder. They diagnose the problem a bad carburetor they said that the fuel kept running into the carburetor what the actual problem and the solution why theyre being since they diagnosed it I bought a new carburetor the problem was there was an intermittent fuel pump issue they diagnose the issue by saying when they went up the hill it was bothering me out but they never tried installing a fuel pump and see if that improved performance what it actually was was the whole fuel pump assembly because remember its a classic vehicle. So I took it in the shop they charged me $1,000 so basically rewire it. They charged me another $1,000 to install the carburetor. I bought the carburetor at the parts store. After spending $2,000 on repairs the vehicle did run but there were issues still playing the car and such as the wire harness the distributor the fuel tank assembly and from my understanding when they got the truck running there was a leak in the rear main they never mentioned it they never told me what price Id have to pay for that they somehow put the pressure plates back on broke the screws and theres that ticking noise cuz it wasnt all the way sealed. So like I said theyre competent theyre better than having your friend fix it but as far as the experience you know I do appreciate that they put my radio back together the office is very vanilla considering probably all the stressful calls they get it doesnt seem to get to him theyre helpful. Theyre willing if they cant order the part for you to put the part in thats not what a lot of shops do these days. For a while they are my favorite mechanics I would have to say that 10 years ago when I came here they were quicker a lot more efficient and the five years since I came back they just seem in over their heads and their quality of work has dropped considerably. I respect for $2,000 they never installed the fuel pump they only installed a carburetor and they didnt even charge me for the part because I bought it third party for $2,000 I would have hoped they would have went through the wiring found out and all of that that the distributor was bad they didnt have to fix an engine they didnt have to fix an alternator didnt have to fix your radiator all they had to do is plug the lines up change out a carburetor and they charge me $2,000 so when the vehicle was delivered if I would have took it back to them they would have probably charged me another $1,000 and still have not solved the problem my solution was very unique and it would have taken a Master mechanic to do the workaround that my backyard mechanic did. Because no parts mechanic shop is going to order a distributor that is not stock for or aftermarket ford. We had to think outside the box and put in a distributor more GM like and get rid of the wires across the top of my engine.
Very nice and professional shop, fair prices and would recommend them to all my friends.
Cant say enough about these folks. I own an automotive business in lacey as well and I only hope that my customers feel about us the way I feel about them. Virginia and her crew are always willing to go above and beyond. Thanks for always providing excellent service!
Ive been coming to Kohouts for car repairs every now and then for a couple of years, and theyre amazing!
Great price, great service
I was sent to Kohout’s by a young man at Discount Tires who checked the air in my tires. Apparently I was missing 2 lug nuts on one of my rear wheels. I arrived at Kohout’s and they were able to fit me into their schedule. The lady at the front desk was so helpful and friendly. She let me know that the repair was a lot less involved than I anticipated. The bill was way less than I expected and I was back on the road. Yay! I so appreciate their service!!!
Second time here. The staff are nice and helpful. I would classify this business as more of a mom and pop than a professional service shop. At one time years ago it may have been a top shop but it hasnt seen an update, if any, in decades. The building and shop are run down and dirty and not very inviting. Egress from Husky Way could be improved. The waiting area is mostly a narrow entrance to the front desk with customers and techs walking past you all the time. The whole building layout and parking is awkward at best and does not provide good flow or customer comfort. There is a small TV on the wall and a 12 inch JVC tv/vcr combo sitting on a magazine table. For being an automotive shop there isnt a lot of auto magazines to choose from either but there are a lot of boat magazines if you are into multi-million dollar yachts.I had an appointment for an alignment that I was waiting for. They were 20 min late getting it pulled in. While I was waiting a customer came in expecting to pay 150 for some maintenance and was surprised by a bill over 600 that the shop didnt communicate to the owner. This is not a professional way to run a business. Their explanation was that service on this vehicle is expensive and that if you delay service it gets more expensive. This is throwing the cost back into the face of the customer implying it was their fault. Apparently they failed to set expectations prior to service and then failed to follow up after with proper customer service. Last time I was here for a tire rotation they couldnt figure out how to reset my TPMS and had to wait another 30 min while the tech read a manual on how to use the tool. Someone else eventually came out and did it.Random thought. Why is there a piano for sale in the waiting room? This shop could be great. It needs someone of a business minded nature to revamp the shop and provide training to the staff. Uniforms and some organization would improve customer confidence.Summary, if you want a basic shop without any other expectations of any kind then this might work for you.
The only place Ill take my car! Friendly, honest service. I can not recommend this place enough.
Again Kohouts has done a great job reporting my car, replacing my A/C unit on my Kia Rondo!
Very honest, a bit expensive for me because I will replace the wheel bearing. Parts $40
I have been a customer with Kohouts for at least 9 years with different vehicles including a Class A Motorhome. The great folks there have always been professional, very friendly and the work is outstanding. I cant say enough about the expert work these folks have performed. I would not take my vehicles anywhere else. I completely trust them and they stand behind their work. Thank you to all who work there, they are the best!
Fair prices and good service
Either they let people come on their property and steal out of their customers vehicles or this a chop shop.
They got me in for an alignment and did a better job than another place that charges more.
I went for an alignment and the guy drove my car around and messed up my brakes. I had to spend $340 to get them fixed. Idk what he did but definitely upset. The alignment was really good though but still.
Very overpriced. Was gonna have them replace my AC Compressor, they want to charge just over 1,000 dollars, when firestone can do it with more talented mechanics for 647 dollars.
Best place around.
I have always used Kohouts for all my repair needs for over 20 years. Always had great service from everyone in shop. You can count repairs done right, on time and at a fair price.
They were very strait forward and honest.
I called Kohouts Automotive to get a quote on an engine replacement for my Dodge Ram truck, Jamie originally quoted me $6,000 - $7,000 installed; I called other reputable companies and was quoted much higher so I decided on Kohouts and had my truck towed there. After further inspection of my motor, it was determined it needed to be replaced, but it would cost $8,100, I replied what happened to the 6k - 7k quote?, Jamie responded the price of the rebuilt motor went up. The mechanic that worked on the truck did a good job, but there was an older mechanic that was quite rude and insulting, I tried several times to ignore him. We have had the truck back in on 3 separate occasions for a coolant leak at the top radiator hose, (their fix the 1st time was to tighten the clamp, nothing on the 2nd time and they finally replaced the clamp on the third time. There are a few more tidbits to add, but I dont want to write a book. I feel the way Jamie and the older mechanic treats people is unprofessional, unwarranted and should change. I will not return unless it is a warranty on my motor. I also will not recommend this shop to anyone.
OMG! Avoid at all cost! (and it WILL cost).Seems like the front desk guy doesn’t even want to be there. Not interested, not polite. Took my car in for a tune up and to fix a couple other small things. They supposedly do air conditioning, but simply told me that my AC didn’t blow cold air. Didn’t fix it, didn’t even offer me an estimate to fix it but they DID charge me for observing it...Tell me there’s a squeak in the engine, could be a belt. Did they replace the belt? No. The said “see dealer”. IT’S A FRICKIN BELT! If you guys can’t replace a belt, I’m amazed you can do an oil change. Many more issues, too long to list, but you could close your eyes and throw a rock, and you’d hit a better place to take your car than this.
Kohouts has been my auto shop for many years now. I would not TRUST my vehicle to any place else. I ALWAYS feel confident that my car is kept in perfect running condition. As an aging, single, commuting female, that is most important for me. They deliver on customer service and knowledge!
I have had great experiences here. Low prices and quality work.
I love this shop! But it’s not about the shop, it’s about the people and the service. I come from out of town to have my car serviced here and they always have a loaner for me, the work is superb, I feel safe on the road and secure in my choice of Kohout’s Automotive. Yes, Ron is my brother, and I couldn’t be more proud of him and his staff and reputation. They are solid gold.
Top notch place! They fixed my Jeep quickly and thoroughly..Good people!
Conducted the necessary repairs at a fair price. Kohouts treated us with respect and we also appreciate their military discount.
Above and beyond excellent work!!
Not very helpful...wanted us to wait a week to get a headlight changed went somewhere else took 5 min to get done
The mechanic was good in finding the problem but this ministry were going to pay for repairs and the owner told lies that I wanted to do repairs the car didnt needed now so I have no clue about cars how in the world am I going to know. Now I just have to break for my car to break. Supposedly I my car is still driveable when the mechanic said be careful to drive it. So maybe another few month and good bye car. Thanks to this business owner who made me look like a liar.
I highly recommend this shop! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and treat you like family. They never try to up sell you services or say you need repairs you dont! Its so nice as a women to have a place I trust to bring my car. Honest work at a fair price. Love this shop!
Kohouts is one of the last automotive repair shops that provides excellent customer service and delivers quality work in this area. Ive been in this area for over twenty years and Ive experienced the erosion of quality work and excellent customer service from the local competitors. Every time Ive used them Im never surprised with additional cost or bad news. The last business that does what they say period. Thanks to the entire staff & crew at Kohouts for your continued quality work & excellent customer service!
Excellent business! Professional, honest people!
Would never recommend them to anyone. They told me I needed struts but Les Schuab found the real problem...a huge bubble on one of the tires that was about to blow.
Great auto repair experience, its clear that they care much more about their customers experience, than about their money.
I have used Kohout Automotive for my vehicles for over 30 years. They are very knowledgeable and honest. My vehicle is always fixed correctly the first time. Their employees are friendly and helpful.
We have been using Kohouts for several years and we feel great piece of mind knowing the was done by certified mechanics and reasonable prices. All the staff are also great and keep very good records of work done and recommended work.
Negative 1 star. Stay away, they overcharge and recommend that you do all sorts of extra repairs that bring them in some additional money. After a cooling water flush and cleaning, the water pump was suddenly defect a few weeks later with the car losing cooling fluid, even though it had been replaced two years earlier. Also recommended that I should change my battery, even though I have no problems at all starting the car. So why change it in a 17 year old car ? Also recommended to replace a trimmer belt that had been just renewed two years ago (with just c. 10 000 miles driven since then). I seems they just want to get some extra money out of additional repairs without regards to what is actually necessary in such an old car. No common sense with regards to repairs and their necessities. Please stay away and look for a more reliable work shop. This workshop seems to take advantage of those customers without knowledge how to repair cars themselves.
Their phone service is excellent. I cakled to get an estimate. Although I didnt get any work done there their alignments seem to be the cheapest in town.
The best around! Love the service!!
I have had several experiences with Kohout’s Automotive and they have all been great. Their service is both fast and friendly and the quality of work they perform is outstanding. My biggest complement is their honesty and trustworthiness. I’ve dealt with automotive shops who try overstating your car troubles to expand the job, this has never been the case at Kohouts, instead they are always clear and concise about what needs to be fixed, and excel at fixing it right the first time at a reasonable price. In my last experience, the Ford dealer quoted me over $800 to do some brake work, at Kohouts for the exact same work I was charged $205.I absolutely would recommend Kohouts for your automotive repair needs.
I have been using this shop for years. Its so nice to know that there is still a few honest auto repair places that are in the business for the right reason. They are great to work with always friendly and do not pressure to buy other things. They list on the invoice recommendations but never tell me I need anything that could wait. I have been going there long enough that they know my driving habits and how much longer I can wait to have something done. Many times they have done things for me and did not charge. Who does that? Kahouts thats who.
I love this shop. They handle all of my vehicle needs without hesitation. I wish all shops were like theres. Thanks Virginia and Jamie and Jeremy and everybody else. Professional all the way.
Great customer service and prices. Thank you
They serviced my TBSS and did a wonderful job at a very reasonable price. Stop by with your vehicle...you will not regret it..
Very helpful and honest. Helped us deal with a blown engine. Highly recommend
I called and got a same day appointment. I opted to wait at the facility with my two year old. They worked around his loud grumpiness. They talked to him, even though he doesnt respond back. It was a great overall experience.
They are excellent, could maybe find cheaper but these folks are dependable and reliable. They do good work
Great service! I had to get some minor work done and after calling around they were the cheapest by $100. Friendly, honest; a great shop!
Very reasonable prices, great service
Great service!Honest people!
Their press is bent. They cannot press a bearing on a spindle. Try elsewhere like national machine
They always take care of cars at a very reasonable price.
Excellent car service at a very reasonable price!
Very high quote. Charged me $228 for diagnosis of 2 bad radiator hoses, pressure switch and a bearing. Took it to Hawks Prairie who did an excellent job for a fair price.
I have confidence that they will do a complete job in service and repairing my vehicle. And, will charge me a fair, honest and reasonable price on all jobs done on my car.
Good job
Sometimes its not about price, or the prettiest waiting room. Sometimes for the few auto places the work they do stands out above facia that make look awesome, but leads to a promise never fulfilled. Id estimate Ive been a Kahouts customer for probably 10-12 years. Theyve taken care of our CRV, both Frontier pickups, our F250, and the newest HRV. I take our vehicles here even under warranty because its the repair that matters most to me, not vacuuming my floor or spraying new car smell. All this is fine, but if youre back in a month with the same problem its a hard sell for me. Kahouts is local, reliable, convenient timely, and professional. This leads me back again and again. Strongly recommended especially if, like me, you like to take your vehicles to the people who know what theyre doing. Kahouts is my choice, the first time and every time.
I recently brought my car to Kohouts for a continued transmission problem. Every place I brought it to had a different diagnostic accompanied with a huge repair bill. After their diagnostic they determined that the solenoid was defective and the repair cost was hundreds of dollars cheaper than all the places we brought the vehicle to. Now the vehicle runs like new and shifts like it was design to do. Thank you again for your honest and professional work & customer service! Thanks to the whole crew @ Kohouts for what you do!
Very nice people, my car ran out of gas on the highway AND i had to walk so without avg money i corny buy a guys can but they let me borrow there gas can
Kohouts is the BEST auto repair EVER. They are friendly, professional, knowledgeable and give the ultimate in customer service. They treat me, a woman, right! I wouldnt go any where else.
At kohouts they take of the important things. Dont push you to spend on repairs not needed.
This automotive company is excellent! Love them!
I have been doing business with Kohouts for many years and extremely happy with their work
They are very knowledgeable and helpful.
Sadly, I can only give them one star. I brought my 2005 Toyota Sienna AWD in for an alignment. When we came back to pick up the van, they didnt complete the alignment because they said the left tie rod end needed to be replaced. I was surprised since the van only has 62,000 miles on it (we are the original owners). The cost to do that + alignment was a little over $300. We took the van home, and since the weather was good the next day, I jacked up the van to start doing the repair myself. I could find no problem at all in the tie rod end or in any of the steering linkage. Everything was very tight.I made an appointment with the local Toyota dealership for an alignment, and told them about the left tie rod end, and asked them to pay special attention to it. They could find nothing wrong with it either and proceeded with the alignment.Besides recommending work that was completely unneeded, the pre-alignment angles from Toyota differed from the alignment angles measured by Kahouts on all four wheels. Kahouts had one rear wheel outside of factory specs (not adjustable) but Toyota found that same wheel to be within specs.
After going there 25 years. Its the best.
Fast, informed me of my options, great prices
They have very knowledgable service people . Would not take my car, truck, or motorhome anywhere else.Only I wish they would vacume after any service.
Great service and Quality work.
Did a great job
Awesome auto shop! Super People!! Great Service!!!
Awesome service! Knowledgeable Staff!!
I was in need of a mechanic 600 miles from home. They could have ripped me off but instead assured me it was a minor problem. Thats why i trust them.
Excellent work
No better place for alignment and brakes
Ask for Jeremy
Great experience.
Quality auto care
Made an appointment to get my old Ford aligned. Darrell and the guys there were great! Its great to see an old school mechanics shop still around. I highly recommend that if you need alignment or repairs done that you go to Kohouts!
