I cannot say enough good things about this salon. The front desk staff was attentive and polite. They checked us in quickly and offered beverages while we waited. The salon environment was clean and styled nicely.I saw Anna last week and, after waiting 3 years for a cut due to bad experiences, she did exactly what I asked and it turned out better than I couldve imagined. My 10 year old daughter was seen by Anna this week and all I can say is WOW. Her cut is beautiful. The before and after photos are like night and day, in a good way. See the pic for reference. I highly recommend Studio East to anyone looking for a clean, professional, and comfortable salon with stylists that listen to what you want and then make it even better. Anna will be our regular stylist moving forward.

This has been my go to spot for getting my haircut since I moved to the area 5 years ago. The entire staff is very welcoming and there is never much of a wait once you arrive for your appointment. Dana has been my go to barber for my cuts most of the time but even when she is booked up or gone the staff is great to put me with another talented barber. Never had a bad cut since going here. Highly recommend to everyone.

I just moved to the area and I was nervous about getting a new beautician, but my hair turned out beautiful! I had Aneta and she was the sweetest and did an amazing job! I got full blonde highlights and eye brow waxing. The front desk was just as nice! I will definitely be going back soon!

I will never go back to this place. I was so disappointed on my last visit. Apparently my manicurist quit but no one bothered to let me know. When I showed up for my appointment, I was told no one was available to do my service, by a very rude receptionist named Claudia. I live all the way across town and have a very busy schedule. It was a major inconvenience.

I came here to get my first haircut since the pandemic started after some anxiety.Amy did a fantastic job on my hair— she listened to what I wanted, made it look clean and beautiful, and tailored the cut a little more at the end to make sure I was walking out happy. One of the best experiences I’ve had.The salon was very clean and COVID-conscious: very generous spacing, a limited number of clients at a time, masks required for entry, and clear cleaning and sanitizing practices. I felt perfectly comfortable.Could not recommend enough!

My wife went here and had a problem. I wrote a review and was contacted by the owner the next day. The owner is a very nice lady, she let me talk and explain what happen from our side. Just got a Spiral Perm done by Taylor. She is absolutely amazing, and my hair looks great! Her energy was sincere and sweet. Best salon I have ever been to. Everyone seemed really nice. I cannot wait to call this place my home spa!

My mom and I have been going to Studio East for as long as they have been open, I actually followed stylist Lisa G. from her previous salon. Lisa is so talented, bubbly, and fun to spend the appointment with. The staff stays up to date on new techniques and trends, while still being able to cater to and keep modern their older clients. Always friendly, always a good playlist on. We drive from the VB oceanfront to come to Studio East. :)

The place is super clean, respecting social distancing and COVID guidelines and the service is good. Only hiccup is that the service is slower than other places, also although the hairdresser tried, I didnt feel like she fully knew how to deal with my half African wavy kind of hair, especially in the front.

Excellent social distancing/safety protocols in place. Staff all wear masks and many also wore shields. The equipment was cleaned and disinfectant was used on all items that were touched by anyone. Felt very safe and pampered during my pedicure

I came here because I am new to the area and, after reading tons of reviews for different places, decided that I could trust them to cut my hair the day before a scheduled television appearance. Needless to say, I absolutely could not afford for anyone to make a mistake with my hair this time.No regrets.They worked me into the schedule on a Monday, when dozens of other salons in the area are closed, and set me up with Taylor. She was amazing. She did everything I wanted and did not rush the job. She wasnt intimidated by my hairstyle of choice, which is complex with several different lengths and is truly an artistic expression of who I am. Shampooing and drying were included, and attention to detail is probably Taylors greatest strength.In short, if you want a cheap simple haircut, go to any old place. If you want to be treated like a star and know that when you walk out youll look like one, come to Studio East Salon. All I got was a haircut, but they do a lot more too. I only got my hair cut 3 days ago, but Ive already received about a dozen compliments so far. Will definitely return sometime soon.

Matt is an absolutely amazing stylist. He works wonders with his scissors and every time I go I get a great haircut. I live in Richmond but drive the two hours just to see him. I recently brought my girlfriend there to get her hair colored and she said it was the best color she has received from any salon. Do yourself a favor and go get you hair cut/color from matt, you wont be disappointed!

Been going here for over 8 years. Sue and her staff are the nicest, friendliest people, and this is the most capable salon Ive ever been to, including ones in major metropolitan areas. Customers are treated with respect, and given time and attention. I trust them completely, even when trying a new style or hair color. Youll want to try their spa services too.

Emily at Studio East is the best hair stylist. My hair is temperamental and whenever Im stressed out it gets unhealthy. I saw Emily for a hair appointment and she gave me the most beautiful highlights. They look Ive just spent a summer at the beach. Also, after she did my hair it feels healthier and stronger. I dont know how she did it, but I will only see her from now on. Highly recommend her!

Clean salon. My stylist wasn’t very talkative, I’m used to being told what they are spraying on my hair when they are styling it and cutting it. They also don’t let you tip on your credit card which i think is a huge con due to most people not carrying cash on them all the time and you don’t know beforehand until you go to pay.

The best place Ive found (no longer looking)! Emily is a really cool stylist, shes fun, adventurous, and well informed. I have no problem going there (when Im reminded by text) and just enjoying the total experience. The whole crew are totally cool, and open-minded... a very good place to go to be well taken care of....

THIS PLACE IS MARVELOUS!!! An impromptu visit and I couldnt be more satisfied. Having naturally curly hair (and long), Im always extremely nervous getting my hair trimmed. I just experienced my first reflexology on my feet, immediately after my spa pedicure. How exhilarating! Lisa gave me my awesome pedicure, and then Lauren, massage therapist, worked on my feet. Lauren worked out all the kinks in a relaxing environment. Loved it! You all need to schedule these two services together. Best therapy ever!

Just got home from Studio East and wanted to get this up before I forgot. This is my first time here and I was looking for a salon closer to home than the one I have been going to in Chesapeake (I live in Ocean View). Saw the decent reviews here and called to make the appointment at 10:45 and got an appointment for 11:30. I arrived at 11:20 and was warmly greeted at the front desk. Matt, my stylist, came out at 11:25 and greeted me, took me back to the chair.I told him what I wanted (a trim, trying to grow it out) and he offered to dry and straighten my kind-of wavy hair so he could get the best results. I liked the sound of this, so he went ahead.Fast forward 20 minutes or so and I walked out of there with the BEST trim/cut Ive ever had. Ive never had a dry trim before, but now that I know how they turn out, Ill never get anything different.Conversation with Matt was easy and light. Great chair-side manner. I will be putting his card somewhere it doesnt get lost and scheduling regular appointments with him from now on and my hair will never have looked better!Matt also made sure to let me know that they are a full-service salon (Im 8 months pregnant, so he KNEW I could use some pampering). :) Ill be back soon to try out all the other raved about services.So glad to have found this place - and Matt, I will be seeing you again! First time getting my eyebrows done with wax like in 7 years and it was gooood, Echo was super nice and asked first about my skin to make sure she used the correct wax. My Eyebrows look good❤️ The team was really nice as soon as we walked in, 10/10 will come back for that eyebrow tint!

I am REALLY bad about keeping up with my haircuts and taking good care of my hair, which I feel is partially because I never have had great experiences at salons or loved the outcome of my cuts or colors. Studio East was recommended to me and I feel like I am actually going to invest in my hair health now! Matt was amazing! Not only do I love my cut but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and chatting with him! He definitely understood what I was looking for and made it happen. 10/10 would HIGHLY recommend! Im confused on how many stars I should get, or if I should even leave a review because Im scared the lovely woman that did my hair will get in trouble.This was my first visit. My stylist was AMAZING. I had a horrible hair cut and a horrible color that I was looking to get fixed. Ive gone others to fix it and it just got worse. In less than 2 hours she transformed me. Im ecstatic with her handy work and her personality. However, the manager/receptionist (Charles I think) was one of the most rude people Ive ever met. I cant believe the way he treated me on my first visit and treated the stylist right in front of me. I wasnt sure if I had time to get color so I booked color and cut just in case, and changed to just cut because I didnt want to run anyone late. The stylist gave me some quick color anyway, which was nice of her and she assured me she would be okay staying to get the job done. But Charles didnt like it, and came over to make a quick nasty comment. The manager is standing across the room with his hands behind his back starring a hole into the back of our heads and decides to come over and say I will say this in front of you and you, I just wanted to see why we had changed from color to just cut, okay? End of story. And walked away. I have never felt so awkward.. and I was embarrassed for the stylist. I then go up to the counter to pay and he repeats again what he had said, the entire time with the most rude tone of voice and look.The ONLY reason Id ever come back is because of the stylist.

I appreciate the attention to detail here. They have gone out of their way to make me feel comfortable and pampered once entering the door. Ive been going to Studio East for over 1 year now and the compliments I receive on my hair show it. This is a full-service shop and all of the technicians and stylists are amazingly talented and experienced. My wedding was out of town but before I left I was sure to get one last trim, glaze, wax, pedicure & manicure. I recommend Studio East and hope to continue to receive great service and feel special.

Went to Studio East Salon yesterday and got my hair lightened a bit and a trim and received the five-🌟 treatment. I can be a bit of a procrastinator when it comes to my hair, but I love the way it came out and it was just as relaxing and pampering as I’d hoped it would be. Melted the stress away. My hair stylist was easy to talk to and fun to hang out with for the 3+ hours it took to highlight, color and style my hair. It was my first time coloring my hair so I really didn’t know what to expect but she walked me through everything and made it a great experience. I really just wanted a change and I’m loving it!

I have been going to Studio East for over a year now and I LOVE IT!. I love my stylist and I always get alot of compliments on my hair! I used to have it colored here also. I recently started doing my own to save money, but I still go there for my cuts. I have also had manicures and pedicures done here and have had no complaints! I feel pampered from the minute I walk through the door. Everyone is friendly....I love the front desk staff and the owner is always friendly.

Matt Macaranas (master stylist) went above and beyond my expectations. As a client with thick curly hair, its always difficult to find someone that can truly handle such a task. But Matt was exceptional from the cut to the dye. Highly recommend this place!

I dont usually take the time to give reviews but, Studio East deserves it. Since I started going to the salon a few months back I have never been dissatisfied. As soon as I walk in I am greeted with a warm smile and something yummy to drink. I get my nails done by Amber and my hair done by Morgan. Both of them are excellent! I am a very picky about my nails and hair (I think anyone paying for a service should be) but I am beyond pleased every time I leave Studio East. I would recommend to anyone.

I have been coming here for some months. I love this place. I love the cleanliness and the professionalism, but also the welcoming feeling I always receive. I do my waxing sessions with Gabby, who is so personable and easy to talk to! I love going to her. I have also received a massage here with Alisa and she is AMAZING. I highly recommend getting massage sessions done by her. Just be prepared that it is a little pricier here, but I think worth the money. Its been hard finding a good place coming from California, so this place meets more of the standards I was personally looking for. :)

My husband had been going to Matt for years before I started taking my son. Matt is the ONLY person that can cut my sons hair properly. The only reason I give three stars is because it is WAY overpriced. $24 for a CHILDS haircut is a bit much to me but if I take my son anywhere else they mess up his hair.

Absolutely splendid salon :) I received a brazilian blowout with Katelyn and it turned out wonderful! She was very gentle and attentive, when I saw the end result my roots looked fabulous (not frizzy at all) and my hair was very soft and shiny. Would definitely recommend!

What a pleasant surprise in this hair studio! My husband and I were in a tight crunch to have our hair cut/styled and they more than accommodated us. Our usual hair stylist at another salon was booked. And they fit us right in! We were apprehensive about going to a new/different salon. Admit, we all are.Charles the guy at the front greeted us and he was fabulous! Very friendly and attentive.Matt was our stylist and he did a superb cut on both of us. Very happy with his service. So, we thought wed splurge and get pedicures also. No problem! They squeezed us in also! Compliments to Taylor and Emily who were super great at pedicures! You two were just awesome. Very sweet, kind and a superb pedi.The atmosphere in general was just happy there at Studio East. I watched as they went above and beyond for not only us but ALL customers. Kudos to everyone, you just succeeded in stealing us away from another salon and THAT has never happened! Anyone contemplating on trying them out....go for it!

Ive always had an excellent experience at Studio East Salon. Recently, I scheduled an appointment for a color with Katelynn, and I cant overstate how wonderful the experience was. It was a last minute appointment to dye my hair from natural blonde to copper red, and she was professional throughout the entire time. She took her time to understand what I was looking for, and was diligent in mixing the color to match the shade I wanted. She gave me quotes throughout the process to ensure I understood what to expect for a price. She was patient, took her time, and I left with an excellent color transformation and a new trim, leaving my hair much healthier than when I walked through the door. I definitely recommend this salon to anyone I meet; their service is excellent.

Tay does my nails every time and she always does an excellent job. She is a perfectionist and will not let you leave unless you are completely satisfied! I always look forward to see what kind of art/ suggestions she has for my nails!!!!! Love her!!!!!

Just went to get my eyebrows done but left feeling very pleased with the service and all the staff were extremely friendly.

The atmosphere was very relaxing and friendly.Most importantly though was how they handled an error by one of the nail technicians. The manager never made me feel bad and corrected the situation before I had to ask. I will go back and recommend them to all my friends.

Jim and I have been royally treated by Sue Coyne, owner, since shortly after she opened her salon here. We both have difficult hair to cut and style so we really appreciate her talent and skill. Sue trains her staff well, they are diverse, friendly, and competent.The front desk, mostly Charles and Amy are wonderfully cooperative, working to find the time we need, offering a beverage, taking your coat, etc.Donna, the massage therapist is the best we have found in Hampton Roads!

I absolute love this place. I was skeptical at first since I have thick hair and past experiences elsewhere have not been good. I was in dire need of a cut so I decided to give Studio East a chance. They used to have great stylists but every time I have one I like, they quit. Then I pay $40 for a haircut (no wash & dry), but not for the cut, but for who did the cut. Apparently it would have been cheaper if Id gotten someone else. The worst part is this person didnt do a very good job so now I have to pay more to correct it. Unacceptable.

Went there today to get my eyebrows waxed. Place was super clean and all the ladies were friendly. They waxed my brows, but my skin got burned in the process! I also think $16 is a bit steep pricewise. For $16 i should get a lot better service than I did considering I walked away burned. When getting my brows waxed at a nail salon, Ive never paid more than $10. I think Ill stick to going to Ultas Benefit Brow Bar in the future.

I have been here a few times for a cut and color. They are nothing fancy, just a few young chicks who dont seem to have much attention to detail. I would go back, and will probably go tomorrow because I have a job interview coming up. Overall 4 out of 5. not bad, not great though.

I will not come back to this salon! The people are nice and can not do short hair for Afro American women. I could have did this hair style at home myself. I just can’t find a good hair stylist here in Virginia.. it’s a beautiful salon and that’s all! I paid 61 dollars for this mess! I went in for hair treatment, cut & blowdry. I told my stylist Katelynn I was nervous about cutting my hair cause the last time the lady chopped all my hair off. She constantly checked on me during my treatment & was VERY patient with me. Before she cut she always made sure she showed me first & that i felt comfortable. Great service, wonderful conversations, very clean. Front desk was very sweet, everyone worked as a team. My hair cut and color was done by Dana Mallen and she did a fantastic job. She truly is an artist. And she totally gets curly hair. Ive had others cut my curls and layer it but they always either do too much or too little. Its hard too find a curl expert, which Dana is. Ive been going to her for 4 years now, she has taken me from burnett to ombre to balayage blonde to burnette balayage for my wedding and now red/violet/brown. Shes is a hair artist extraordinaire.
