I got a gel manicure with Heather and it was the most sloppy nail painting I’ve ever had. She was also beyond rude, cut my finger when she was clipping my nails and kept asking me to soak my hands in a bowl of boiling hot water. I told her it was way too hot and she just scoffed. She returned with a super hot towel to put on my hands while my gel was soaking off. Was that supposed to be relaxing? I’m not sure if burning clients is supposed to be relaxing. Gentle touch? Not in the least. She kept squeezing my hands and pulling my fingers in all different directions with unnecessary force while she was painting my nails. I’ve never in my life had such a bad nail experience. When she left crack and a dent in my nail from the uneven nail polish and I asked her to correct it, she kept insisting that it was the shape of my nail even though it was obvious that she just didn’t want to fix it. Oh yeah, she also didn’t push my cuticles back or paint within the lines so it looks like a five year old painted my nails. Overpriced services, rude staff, and no attention to detail nor customer services. Go to Lala Nails a block away - it’s not as shiny of an establishment but they actually pride themselves in their work and do amazing work for a fraction of the price.
I took an appointment at 5:45 for a manicure. They didn’t start until 6:10. The owner of the place ended up doing my manicure and I must say I didn’t like her work. I had hangnails and she didn’t remove them correctly even though I did the manicure specifically for that. She also took so much time, she finished an hour and a half later. I left disappointed even though the place is really zen. I wish someone from the actual employees did my manicure. Also the manicure on the website says it’s 15$ but she took 17$ instead
Sharon is UESs hidden gem. With a combination of deep tissue, reflexology and intense stretching, she sprung open a new highway of circulation in my body. Sharon gives the best massages (been going for three years), any amount of time with her is a total body reset, repair, restoration, but for 60min, expect a scalp massage that will rewire your brain. She is, hands down, the best of the best. Highly recommended. As for the mani/pedis, they are quality. This is a neighborhood spot and the prices are comparative high, but Im happy to support the local businesses in my neighborhood.
I went to the spa because I saw the sign on the door for spa happy hour. The manicure was $14 and mani/pedi was supposed to be $32. I got to the register and was charged $46. Then I was asked for a tip. The services were rushed and mediocre at best. Avoid this place. I wish I would have read the reviews before going.
Best manicure/pedicure in town. So quick too. And Sharon gives the best massages.
Serendipity is a great nail salon along with other notable services. I go there for a variety of pedicures and massages. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I cant say enough about the receptionist. I love her. The owners and face of the establishments are honest and reputable business people who are genuine friendly. Its an over great experience. Love Serendipity!!!!
If you are a woman of color, particularly a Black and/or Hispanic man or woman, I would not patronize this business. I came to this salon for a manicure and instead received a micro-aggression and prejudiced behavior. A White woman who came in after me was given preferential treatment for the same service and was tended too first. I came with a friend, so had the staff waited they would have had 3 extra clients for the day instead of just 1. I do not spend money in places where I don’t feel that I, or my money, is being valued. POC I would advise you to steer clear of this place.
This place is super underrated. Great pricing and friendly staff! And its not a whack, cheap interior designed salon either. Beautiful music and decor. Loved my $16 manicure!!
Very clean, nicest nail salon in the area (which is reflected in the prices) -- definitely more expensive than other salons but the experience is also much better. The employees are very friendly, there is rarely a wait. Sharon gives THE BEST massages -- her chair massages are amazing. She finishes the massage with an extensive stretching sequence -- you wont find that anywhere else.
The service is okay but they overcharged me. First I had a Sensitive waxing which is more expensive, and then later second time when I go there I decided to have a regular waxing because it is cheaper on the menu. Unfortunately, I ended up being charged for more than Sensitive waxing. What a terrible way of serving people and putting your price like that if it does not work at aaaaalllll!!!! I warn you people about the charge in this spa place...
HORRIBLE. Very bad gel manicured. Added extra pricing during the job. Pretended to not know English. Had her daughter demand a 20% tip from me. I spent $160 for the worst gel manicure in NYC!? I recommend no one go here unless they like being ripped off and scammed.
DO NOT GO HERE. The price on the website says manicure pedicure $35 Monday through Wednesday. Manicure says $12 and pedicure says $29 any other day of the week. When the employee rang me up she charged me $49 and told me the website is “very old” why are you advertising a special but won’t honor it? I asked for a manager and was told he’s only in in the AM. Some management. I was also in the pedicure chair for 10 minutes. I could have done a better job myself. This is my first google review, and I’m glad I’m writing it because of how ridiculous my experience just was. This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star.
Ehhh....over priced. $32 for a not great pedicure. Barely scrubbed bottom of my feet, nails aren’t painted all the way over to the sides. Other places in the area for much cheaper that do a way better job. Very clean and professionl is only plus.
The employees were extremely nice and made me feel welcome. However they def overcharged me for a gel manicure and in fact it’s only been a week and my nail paint has chipped and my nails feel flimsy. Additionally they charged me an extra 16 bucks to take the old nail polish off which my nail salon would never. At my nail salon I pay 35 for ANC and my nails come out spectacular and last 3 weeks. At this place I spent 75 bucks on just gel paint on my nails. I am not happy and unfortunately I was in Nyc for business. And to top it off the woman tried to pressure me into paying a tip smh
After spending 100 dollars on waxes and my pedicure, I was disappointed to have been asked to leave at closing, before my toenails were dry. They requested I wear the paper flip flops home... in the dead of winter. I had no choice but to do so and messed up my pedicure in the process. Not to mention it was completely embarrassing.
Terrible!
At $30.50 a pop, this is an overpriced pedicure. The nail technician somehow managed to cut and file my nails crooked! They ruined my mothers nail polish on her big toe, but instead of re-doing the whole toe, they did a poor job of patching up the spot where the nail polish smeared. Never going back.
Awful. The manager is nasty. He is outwardly mean and rude to his staff and customers. It’s borderline abusive. Would never support a business that treated its employees this way.
