The place is beautiful and the staff is friendly. However, I was trying to treat myself to an early birthday pampering session and I regret it. I spent $115, not including gratuity, as well as almost 2 hours on a fiberglass tape and powder technique and my nails did not come out well, despite my instructions. Im inclined to believe they maybe dont do this technique too often. The nails are the width of my fingers, completely not following the dimensions of my real nails. Two people worked on my set so each hand looks slightly different. I was nicked several times to the point where every finger hurts and one bleeding more than any other time this has ever happened. The nails are so wide, its hard to even type this review. It was unpleasant so i didnt even want to bother to spend what could be an extra 30 minutes trying to ask them to fix it or hurt me more. I could have gone to the nail salons in my neighborhood, paid a quarter of the price with quality so good people think the tips are my real nails but I wanted to have a fancy Manhattan experience. Im sorry but lesson learned. **UPDATE** my nail broke after only 5 days (usually should last about 2 weeks, at minimum) at 8.30pm on a Wednesday (aka after salons have closed) before a day where I have multiple business meetings. I was disappointed previously but now I am full on infuriated.
Look at what i asked for versus what I got. This is a $70 manicure? No to mention I got scolded by the receiptionist for not tipping enough “15-20% is what our customers usually tip” she said to me….. Would not recommend to anyone.2 day update: the lady over painted my mail and onto my cuticle that she hardly removed and the gel is lifting and coming right off most my nails. again, would not recommend.
Way over priced. My total was $214 for a mediocre gel manicure with tips and regular polish pedicure. Overall service was fine at best. They tack on fees for ridiculous things — ex. They charged me an extra $10 just to remove my previous gel polish (that was only left on a couple of nails).Service-wise, I insisted on square nails and kept reminding them… I ended up with fairly round nails instead. Also, the nail technician tried to remove my previous powder polish with a credit card, which ripped off my nail bed. She was really nice so I tipped her well despite this. But I’m never going back.
I had a lovely manicure yesterday with the technician named Susan! She was very thorough with my nails and kept going back to make sure that everything was perfect! I definitely will be going back! I’ve just moved into Midtown and I am trying all the nail salons in my vicinity to see which one is the best, and out of the two that I’ve gone to so far this seems better! Especially with price and quality. Normally the salons that I’ve gone to only do two coats of gel which leaves the polish looking a bit spotty, and some salons make you pay more for an extra coat. I got three coats of gel for 26 bucks! Pretty reasonable if I do say so myself! They were playing some songs that I didn’t enjoy, but the environment was nice, was very professional! Tip situation is a little strange, so head that in mind. Bottom line, give it a shot!
Stumbled upon this place by accident. Such lovely people and the best pedi in NYC. Struggled with ingrown toenail and after pedi it was completely fixed. Very knowledgeable girls and the best massage chairs in town. I will def recommend
I don’t live in this area, but I was at the MoMA and had time to waste before dinner and claws that needed taming. They allowed me to reschedule when my museum stroll took a longer time than expected. They were lovely when I got there and did a very good, detail oriented job on my gel mani and normal pedi on my oh so ticklish feet. Thank you!
The aesthetician was nice the host was aggressive and pushy. The nail polish chipped within 2 days, all my finger nail polish was off in a week. I didnt appreciate the host insisting on a larger tip. I understand tips help but they are NOT mandatory in ANY way!. That was NOT good customer service. I dont talk about the location to my friends or anyone.
I am a great fan of this spa and have been a client for many years. They take great care of you!!
I have been a client for many years. The staff is completely professional and I have had nothing but the very best service. The technicians provide the most outstanding pedicures and manicures. The salon is extremely clean and follows COVID protocols. I highly recommend this salon as one of the very best in New York City.
Clean salon, nice massage chairs for pedicures, efficient
First of all, I gotta say I’ll definitely come back.My friends and I had such a relaxing and quality experience. Not only the shop was luxurious and spacious but our manicurists also took a great care of us. Although we went there late in the evening, they were still hospitable and we were highly content with our nails. Definitely coming back !
$61 for rushed mediocre gel French manicure. At the counter to checkout. Paid $10 for a 15% tip totaling $71. The technician WHINES AT THE TIP because she wanted 25% tip. She scoffs and walks away. NEVER had this happen. This seems to be a reoccurring problem reading Yelp reviews.Incredibly tacky and rude. Recommend finding another nail salon for cheaper and still better service.Oh and my gel nails chipped within 12 hours of getting it done.Worst nail salon experience in ten years.
Great spot for back massage 💆♂️
Not the most affordable spot but they’re clean and thorough. I’ve had my powder manicure done here 3 times and it was gorgeous. Susan is my personal favourite. The next 3 times were not as good (different aesthetician). The last time, my nails chipped within 4 days. When I went to get them fixed, I was told that there is no guarantee for days with powder, gel, or regular manicure. I was so disappointed cause I thought I’d found my spot.Definitely hit or miss.
I only have one word to describe, HORRIBLE, never coming back!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place ! They did the most amazing design on my nails before my friends wedding, everyone LOVED them !
I absolutely LOVE NY Nails and Spa. I work right in the area (about 4 blocks away) and it is by far the best nail salon I have found around here (or anywhere for that matter). The staff is incredibly friendly and hardworking, and they are so accommodating. I go to this nail salon about 4 times per month. I personally love the gel manicure, gel pedicure and spa pedicure with callus removal. These services will last you weeks! The waxing is also incredible. Pain free and they really know what they are doing. I come out feeling like a better, happier person each time! And I cant forget to mention the chair massages. They will leave you feeling incredibly refreshed and reinvigorated. I experience a lot of back pain, and every time I get a massage, the pain seems to disappear. Trust me when I say, you cant go wrong with this place. Enjoy!
Ive been going for a long time and their work is very good and its clean. But in the past year many of the women chew gum while they work, and they crack their gum too, which drives me nuts. So unfortunately, Im going to another nail spa.
I went in yesterday to get a Manicure & Pedicure and I loved it so much!! I havent been so happy after getting my nails done in a long time. Sarah is amazing in everything she does and she is awesome to talk to. I will definitely be coming back. I got the chrome nails for the first time and I was so happy. I really love this place. Definitely recommend it to everyone. Thank You Sarah!!
Service is always consistently great! Love the technicians, managers and the owner. Salon is very clean and organized. Space is very big to have group events which is great 👍
Location is very convenient! Service is always so consistent that I go back each time knowing what I will get! love that New York nails is very clean and organized.
This was the first pedicure I had where I didnt feel overly tickled. I dont know how the person I had managed to do that but it was amazing. I hate doing pedicures because they tickle so much but my feet desperately needs them every once in a while. I wish this place was close to home. I will definitely be coming back the next time Im in the city.
If youre looking for a terrible manicure (bloody cuticles), ask for Ms Park, aka The Butcher of Manhattan. Its really relaxing, especially when she cracks your knuckles and ends it all with a demand for tips. I wouldnt wish this place on my worst enemy.
Great Massage, weird vibe about tipping. Looking for someone who wants to work out the issues in your body? Consider Daisy. I rarely luck into someone who does good work but Daisy READ MY BODY! She was there to find -and work out- my issues and she was committed to getting at them all as thoroughly as she could. It was a very deep tissue massage so brace yourself.Treatments like this leave me feeling much better and so full of gratitude, which is how I was feeling when I came out to pay. That’s when things got a little weird. I Daisy my card and she said “you pay tip with cash or on card?” in a more demanding way than I’m used to (I always tip but by definition it’s voluntary.) and when I said to put 20% on the card she handed the card to her boss and walked away without speaking to me. It seemed abrupt but I thought she couldn’t possibly be annoyed with my tip so I called out to her, “Thanks Daisy!”, which I had already said a few times and this was really when she should have been thanking me for my business, right?Anyway I was happy overall so I was going to give a raving review but in reading the other reviews I realize that maybe she really was being passive aggressive in disapproving of my $38.00 tip. (??🤷🏼♀️)That’s a buzz kill because I like feeling grateful and generous, not compelled or resented so if that’s the vibe she intended to give at the end, I’ll have to consider that when deciding whether or not to return. The advertised price for the 90 minute massage is $190.00 so if 20% tip is insufficient in their eyes, I guess I have to determine if the treatment is worth the $250 they evidently expect if I want to return and also be treated with gratitude when I’m leaving.A last quick note:The massage room has carpet but they don’t provide flip flops so consider bringing your own.
Best nail salon I have been to! They take service seriously and really care for their customers. Highly recommend this salon!
Substandard materials and knowledge. After soaking my nails for half an hour they wonder why nail polish wont dry on my nails... Nail strengthener not worth anything, my nails are breaking left and right after treatment.
I dont do my nails often but when I do, I always come here. Each time Ive been here, they dont rush (even if its close to closing or if theres a lot of people) They do a pretty good job painting and it stays for long! Im glad I found this place in the busy streets of Manhattan!
I love the professional and friendly staff at New York Nails & Spa. Im always happy with the service I receive. Its a nice place to go to relax and be pampered. My Manicurist Kelly takes great care of my nails and Joy is my go to person for the perfect Pedicure. I highly recommend New York Nails & Spa.
I always love doing my nails here the result is always pretty and they dont torture my nails thanks goodness!
CLEAN SALON, FRIENDLY STAFF, BEAUTIFUL AND RELAXING PLACE
My Saturday afternoon mani pedi was pretty mediocre for $60. The nail technician I got was rude and after using the nail polish I brought, she refused to clean the bottles when asked. In fact the staff seem pretty disinterested in being there. It’s one of those places where they pretty much can’t wait to dump you at the drying station.
Ombré shellac mani done by Michelle was awesome. She took her time and was very into the service. Provided feedback and suggestions on color combo as well as the design to give my mani the perfect pop. I absolutely love the end result. The compliments on my nails have been non-stop. :)
Good service but in the prices you have to included 20% in tips
The only place I will get my nails done in NYC. I have been going here for years! The owner and staff are amazing, (especially Candy and Sara) they treat you like family. Great massages and treatments also! They are the BEST!
I can vouch for this spa as I have been coming here for over 16 years. Im a true New Yorker and I love the service and quality of the manicures and pedicures here. I wont go to any other place, for fear that cheaper or other nail salons wont do as good a job. They are definitely on the pricier side, but the salon is very clean and they sanitize their tools. In addition, for those who are from out of town, it is customary to tip 20% for your services, so consider that when you are calculating the costs. I hope this helps new comers realize what costs to expect, and be able to leave happily with beautiful hands and feet.
As a male I am always on the lookout for a great spot that has men’s accommodations.MassageMy therapist was very experienced and did an excellent job. I had an 60 minute custom massage. The warm compress/stones were amazing on my back. Great staff and the prices were reasonable.Mani/ PediWhat a great job! Such a wonderful experience, I cant wait to go back. Do your self a favor and go
Not bad, have been here several times and I like the way I get treated. I do not go to one specific person so I have a scope of the people that work here and they are lovely.
My nails were supposed to be coffin and only a few of them were the right shape. All my nails are a different length and thickness. They made my hands bleed twice with the electric file. The service was rude and they are way overpriced. Not impressed and will not be going back.
Ken did an awesome job on my pink and white ombre nails. Going off on vacation that includes fancy dinners in the evenings. This design was perfect!
Nina is amazing and does wonderful work ! Everyone else in there is amazing too ! I definitely recommend this salon if you want to get your nails done in this area !!!
I have been going to this salon for around 10 years now whenever I come to NYC. It is my go to in Manhattan for nails and massage. The space is very clean with talented staff. I also got a massage that was unreal and a scalp treatment. They offer all sorts of treatments. Cant wait to return next week!
First time here and the experience was just lovely. Had a great time chatting with Mi Yeon! My new favorite spot in midtown!
Never going here again. They over-charge and are extremely rude. They scoff when you leave 20% tip and ask for more tip. The ripped my skin off when waxing. They always tell me they are increasing the price two or three dollars every time for one reason or another. This time it was because of the type of gel I received from another salon. Do NOT recommend.
I haven been going to New York Nails & Spa for over 30 yrs. and would not even think of going anywhere else for a mani, pedi, massage the best ever!! The spa services are relaxing, pampering & refreshing. The staff are very professional and caring they make you feel right at home. My girl is Kelly for my nails would not trade her for anything. Their salon is very clean all equipment are sterile. They have great hours, convenient location reasonable prices. The best services in Midtown!! I recommend their services if you want satisfaction.keeps me coming back! Thank you!! HANA
Excellent service, guys
It’s really nice they have televisions and very soothing music they don’t rush and their very gental and they give u complimentary drinks❤️
Ive been going here for years. My mani/pedis last longer than anywhere else and thats what brings me back - its so worth it. Theres a huge color selection, a big beautiful space in the back, and its always clean with very friendly staff.
Though the consequences of the pedicure were good enough, the technician demanded a higher tip than the fair one I had given her and, as soon as I had paid, accused me of giving her faux cash. I wont be coming again to this salon.
My go-to nail salon for over 20 years. I am such a dedicated client that I have issues with visiting any other salon throughout NYC or the entire planet. An oasis on west 55th street from the hustle and bustle of midtown. Go there, soak your weary feet, clean up that chipped manicure, steam the grub out of pores, remove that unwanted hair, and rub out that tension youve been carrying. Love NY Salon and Spa!
I was in the city for work and wanted to get a shellac manicure in my downtime. The work was rushed and not done well. As I was with a coworker, I didnt want to complain but, there were parts of my nail that werent polished and within a week, the polish was already chipping. Side note - the staff member was incredibly rude when I attempted to give her a cash tip. I was not satisfied with the work but I didnt want to leave her with nothing. I spent 51 dollars on the shellac polish (no false nails) and gave her a five. She grimaced and sternly and loudly proclaimed that they take a twenty percent tip. I was so embarrassed that I grabbed a few more dollars out of my wallet. My coworker received a basic manicure and commented that she didnt receive a clear top coat.If in the area, please avoid!
The worst experience I’ve ever had. They are fraudulent, charged me more than the price was stated, and then scoffed at a $15 tip. Not an ounce of customer service or regard for the customers. They even kicked me out in the rain way before the salon closed because there were no other customers. Absolutely horrible. They should be ashamed.
Uncomfortable experience. Too many little seemingly race based things happened for me to return. At $53 for a basic manicure & pedicure, I would prefer to feel comfortable spending my money.
Although.. Friendly staff and clean space, Ill never go back, the level of service not matching the prices and the location, Menicure and pedicure wasnt bad, Rejuvenation Facial was a disaster, she injured my skin right under my eye, my face was bruised for a week for 85 $ ! I also did eye brow tint, payed 50$ for nothing, my eye brows looked exactly the same, still needed make up .
Not as detailed. Workers were abrupt. Expensive.
My 60 min massage was actually 30 min massage and 30 min of hot towels on my arms and legs. Not really a massage. Then they took the liberty of adding a $30 tip (which they didnt mention when I specifically asked how much it cost), and then gave me a hard time when I asked for the RMT info for my insurance... Geez.
Very nice, relaxing and professional. Will definitely go again.
Recently, I arranged my best friends bridal shower at NY Nails and Spa. Facility was clean and the service was great! all the staffs were very helpful through out the event (such as setting up food and drinks and decorating the lounge area) & they have the best (so~many) colors to choose from!
They forced me to give $15 tips otherwise she wasn’t finishing my manicure. I had pedicure and manicure and it was all rushed. Not recommending to go there. Also so expensive for no reason.
They did a great job. Their service is superb. Highly recommended!
Quick, efficient and clean. Not the level of artistry of some but good service overall.
Good servicegood locationgood staffrelaxable and clean placerecommend!!
I went in for a pedicure and it look them 15 min. Way too rushed, no impressed at all. $40 for 15 min I would never come back! Very disappointed!
Ladies AND Gents!---No need to look any further for a very relaxing experience. The staff is professional, the location- (there are actually 2 locations-both on w 55th street) are very clean- and offer everything from facials, massage, mani/pedicures & hair---for both women & men ( My husband is addicted to pedicures-- and extra 10 minutes of reflexology). Usually walk in appts available-- everyone is trained to provide any of the services. So Give Yourself a treat today- and schedule appointment-- what better way to welcome Spring!?!Heidi B.
The place has a clean environment and a friendly staff always makes me happy.
If you want a $50 color change only and a very quick Mani Pedi this is your place! A higher quality Mani Pedi can probably be gotten here by agreeing to the upsell request for a Deluxe. That doubles the price and thats bait and switch and Im not interested. Affordable, quality Nail Salons are plentiful in this area of town.
I have been going to this place for a looong time! And yes sometimes they rush, sometimes job is not a 5* some ladies are a bit rude or it is a cultural difference BUT when it comes to an actual job-if you need a good mani and pedi ask for Lori, she is so patient, super sweet and truly will make sure you leave that salon with a smile on your face.
JUST DONT GOI had a manicure and an indian head massage. Both were an ok experience, nothing exceptional other than I was asked to pay $1 extra for fast dry top coat after it was put on... I can live with that but - Really! The massage was like taking a beating... way to hard on my very sore body and then came the time where payment was up. Before giving me the receipt the lady said Ill ad 20%... thats the minimum we take for a tip!!!! WHAT..., if Im not mistaken Im allowed to actually choose if I would like to add 15%, 18% or 20%. seriously I have never in my life had anyone demand a tip.
June is so great and detailed. Totally worth the priciness.
Easy to walk in and get a very good manicure!
I have been going to this spa on and off for more than 20 years and have had nothing but exceptional experiences. Cindy and Lori are THE BEST!
This salon hes the best services. The prices are not very low but the result worth it.
Highway robbery at $39.00 for a regular pedicure and poor quality on both feet and hands👎
The salon was nice, I just wish they wouldve taken care of the calluses
I love this place because you get to get your feet done and your nails done and your eyebrows done
My go to nail spot! Friendly, clean, reasonably priced!
Place is clean and staff is super nice!
Festive toes ready for the holidays!!
Way overpriced for a mediocre nail polish, I wouldnt even call it manicure. Pedicure was 10 minutes
I didn’t expect it !
VISITING FROM CALIFORNIA AND THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME 200.00 for a fill and a pedicure.
A dream
Service is not very friendly
Fast
Superb lounge, very friendly staff, relaxation assured.
The best.
Expensive
