Went to day camp here as a child for many years, played basketball there, and have used the pool and gym many times as well. I have had only good experiences at Asphalt Green, but as I am now an adult and living on a budget, I cannot afford a membership there at the moment. But if you can afford it, they have amazing facilities and the staff are really great and friendly. Definitely deserve 5 stars.
Nice artificial Soccer field but you needed to be registered to joined the facility in all the extentions, because it is just a very little limited time for public and that space is in morning only.
AG hosted our U9s soccer game today with ~90 degree weather and made sure that only their team (and parents!) got to sit in the shade whilst our boys had to huddle in the middle of the baking sun. Told all their kids not to wear masks either so they could run easier. Well done AG!
Tried to register for private swim classes which themselves were pretty expensive but couldnt even get a reply from them.
One of only a couple of 50 meter swimming pools in Manhattan. I love it because there are very few swimmers on certain days. Stayed open during the pandemic so I continued to swim. Monthly rates are VERY EXPENSIVE because it includes the gym. There used to be a swimming only membership, which was half the regular price, but they removed that.
Amani solved a thorny problem - I couldnt find the locker which had my clothes, keys, i-phone in it - to save my life and it was 9:45 p.m two Fridays ago. I couldnt and the rest of the staff couldnt; he deserves HIGH PRAISE! Thank you, Amani! Please, Asphalt Green, reward him any way you can - thanks!
Great spot. RE Parents.. Outside playground isnt a daycare/babysitter dropoff - pay attention to your kids.
Great pool, great cardio and weight room, and great views. The trainers are also respectful and don’t bother you, and the staff is pleasant.
Absolutely beautiful pool. Love this place!
A marvelous oasis during these challenging times! Immaculately clean. The staff is well trained in Covid 19 protocol and extremely helpful. Skilled trainers and state of the art equipment. I am moving in!!
The swimming class and the pool itself is very good but the registration office is not responsive ( no reply to e-mails and very hard to get them on the phone )Also they are not friendly at all. Very disappointed about the .
Its great to see the kids playing flag football Friday nights. At least one tradition survived COVID.
Great program for school breaks & summer camp. Wonderful swim program year round. All instructors & counselors are superb
Perfect facility for sports and fitness training.
I have never written a review but asphalt green is maybe the most dishonest gym ever. They started billing me after COVID without me knowing it and would not refund my money I’m sure I’m one of many who they did this to.
Pool experience was fine.Great to be back in the swimming mode. Felt very safe.
The Asphalt Green doesn’t care about your kids or its neighbors. If you are looking for a day camp or facility for children’s activities, I would suggest looking elsewhere. The day camp website pledges to teach children “EMPATHY - Understand others by walking in their shoes.” However, they disturb everyone in the neighborhood by BLASTING amplified music and announcements starting around 8am every day. I live several stories up, a few thousand feet away from where the sound is coming from. I have my windows shut and my AC on, and it still disturbs me. I can only imagine how loud it is next to the actual source. How can this be safe for young children? Doesn’t it damage their hearing? The level of noise is absurd and is totally unnecessary. If you want to send your kids to a cheesy program where they will be exposed to a horrible MC blasting bad music and corny announcements on a daily basis, and where they will be taught not to care about their neighbors or the people around them, this is the place for you!
Asphalt Green is a great facility however it’s not worth the money. The member locker rooms, pool and other facilities are always closed for ‘maintenance.’Staff are hit and miss. The customer service 9 out of 10 times is horrible.Heres an example of the abysmal customer service. I called asphalt green for advice on cancelling my membership as I was moving overseas. I was told I just had to come in and sign a form the week before leaving. That was the advice asphalt green staff gave me, so I trusted the advice given and followed it.Fast forward 19 days, I turned up to sign the form and was told i would be charged a 30 day notice period from signature. Now I’m paying for a membership and won’t even be in the country to use it.Worst part is, asphalt green didn’t take responsibility for the incorrect information provided and said it ‘must have been someone in another department or a new employee.’ How is that for customer service. How is that for looking after loyal customers.’Anyway, it’s not worth the price for facilities that are constantly not available to you. And until they learn to look after members, you’re better off finding another place.
Paid for a kids soccer class that never took place due to covid. Establishment has been unresponsive and still has not provided a refund.
GREAT to be back at swim practice with coach Diana! And to swim with Sam!
The pool facility is fine, always crowded. But not worth the hassle of membership. And the gym is a rotting joke.DONT BECOME A MEMBER. They ROB you.Just like others posting on the forum, I got robbed by Asphalt green. in 2015 I early terminated their membership due to travel/visa reasons. It was lengthy process to terminate the agreement, had to pay $125/-, but the agreement was signed on paper. No email copy of the termination was mailed.Fast forward 4 years, I get a random THREATENING CALL to collect unpaid dues. I followed up with Asphalt green billing department, who wanted to see an email copy which was never sent. There is the catch 22. I said I could furnish the proof for reason for early termination, they didnt bother to care. The whole staff is extremely unhelpful.Stay away, plenty of exercise options available in the city!
This review is for the summer day camp. it is my daughters third year attending Asphalt Green and she is as happy as she can get! I especially like the variety in activities to keep the kids engaged and able to try out many things. Thank you Asphalt Green
Love this place. Just moved to Houston and Ive already been to Joy three times. The staff is super friendly, teachers are all top notch, studio is clean, they offer a ton of variety (including prenatal classes on the weekend). They frequently run good deals and always seem to have a couple of groupon specials. And I love that they let you borrow mats free of charge. I dont live in the heights but will continue to make the drive for this place. Dont forget to grab a fresh fruit/veggie drink two blocks down at Juicy it Up after class.
Was a member for 2 years. The facility was usually dirty, the membership price was too high for what they offered, and the customer service was very hit-or-miss. I give it two stars because it was rarely crowded and the atmosphere was pretty relaxed. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone in the area. That said, while I don’t have children, I think it very family friendly and has a lot of programs for kids, so that’s a plus.
A cheap membership at a poorly managed facility, you get what you pay for. Over the past two and a half years that I have been a member, the facility has been under constant maintenance, never fully opened. Much of the equipment, such as the treadmills, elevators, or even turnstiles, are often out-of-order. Schedule changes are frequent but poorly, if at all, communicated. They replaced a significant amount of the gym floor area with an artificial turf that gets minimal use, but displaces much of the equipment that is often used at capacity (such as the racks and benches). Membership here is significantly cheaper than many of the gyms in the area, but you will notice the lack of quality of facilities and their management quickly.
Great job by Asphalt Green putting in safety protocols at the gym.
AG has been a wonderful recreation and health center for my family for over 20 years. At AG, our daughter attended camp for 4 years, learned to swim, excelled as a gymnast, and now works out at the gym when home from college. I participate in several exercise classes and almost always have easy access to the many machines, bikes and other equipment. Its membership dues coincide with the Yorkville rent and UES cost of living. AG is a great community resource!
We really love the facility. Especially my 6yr old son, who goes swimming every week. The swimming pool is very clean and instructors are the best. Its amazing how they remember individual needs of every child. Once I tried to remind one instructor, thinking she forgot from a week ago that my son is having difficulty breathing properly with free style. Well, I couldnt finish my sentence when she replied exactly what I was about to say.The locker room can get crowded, but very rarely, when regional teen swim meet happens. Then you get a chance to watch some amazing swimming at the 50 meter lanes. Actually inspires you and your child to learn more!I love to hang out at the grad stands watching from a top when my son swim.
100% recommended
I am just right here at Kanga indoor play center with my child With her friend. I saw asphalt camper kids playing around. My kid wanted to go to balls tub or what do we call it any ways. There is one kid hitting all the other kids with balls on their faces and making them cry. I even try to tell that kid not to do so but he dint listen so I looked for the camper staff and told her that there is kid who is hitting other camper kids but she didn’t seems very concern and I went back and looked around to see if someone coming to stop that kid but no one showed up and that really disturbed my mind to think of what if that happens to my kid when she goes to camp and staff don’t care much than talking with other staff. I m not saying all camps are same neither the staff but they should be very concerned specially some other person comes to you and telling you something about their students behavior. That’s their job to look after all kids not just few!
This is one of the best places in Manhattan for kids activities like sports soccer swimming. There was a big community push to move the new Marine Transfer Station that the city is building nearby, but it didnt work. I dont know if the place will be the same in years to come, but right now its a hit and great for kids
We are from CT, played a soccer game here last week. If you are coming from out of state, leave extra time to find street parking. Garage rates (not owned by Asphalt Green) are very high ($25-$50). Just plan extra time, you will find a spot within a 2-3 block radius. Nice facility. Bathrooms were very nice and clean. Turf looks like it was flat and needed to be raked or even replaced, not sure. Our U16 players were slipping all over the place. There are bleechers for spectators so you dont need to bring your chairs. There is also a picnic tables area. All-in- all, a nice club/facility.
My first time at Asphalt Green and I attended the AG6 group class with Danielle teach and I have to say it was pretty cool and a great workout.Sweat dripped down my face as I transitioned from station to station. Danielle was energetic and a great motivator.Check out AG6 at Asphalt Green. Its sweat good fun.
Asphalt Green Upper East Side Campus is a 5 star gym. Their services are awesome. Highly recommended.
Every time that I go to the Litwin Field, I check to make sure it’s open, and every time I show up, it’s ’occupied’. Probably one of the worst run facilities I’ve been to, the staff is usually rude if I’m to ask them why the field is closed. Other than that, when the field is open the facility is fine.
I love coming here. Class instructors are great. Everyone enthusiastic and cares about doing a great job, from maintenance staff to instructors! Locker room clean and getting renovated this month. Best bang for the buck gym on ues!
If you are looking for a legit travel soccer program, dont look here. They are trying desperately to be a top tier club but are far from it. They play in 2nd tier leagues. they dont get accepted to big tournaments. their desperation to be relevant makes them treat kids poorly. The technical director in particular is nasty . If looking for a soccer club for your child where there will be high quality soccer, worthwhile tournaments and a positive environment look elsewhere - you are better off saving your money and playing rec which this club basically is, or going to a real club of which there are many choices.
Wonderful resource center for families in NYC upper East Side (UES.) Summer childrens program is terrific for the youngsters. Even though right next to highway it is not noisy.
Excellent pool.Poor customer service.I was looking for a 50m pool I could swim in the evening. At the membership office I was promised the schedule was not expected to change.A couple of weeks later, it changed. It turned out that the 50m pool is opened for just about a month, for the summer. When I requested to end my membership, I was charged 125$ for the cancellation.
Best pool in NYC. Comprehensive masters program. Excellent swimming instruction for those who are just beginning and for those on the competition track.
This is a great place for families! The pool is wonderful and the swimming classes is always a great idea for the little ones!
Probably one of the most horribly managed gyms in America. 90% of the lifeguards are high while they work - truly. This place is not safe or well run
My email and phone calls were ignored numerous times. I guess they’re so busy that they’re not interested in new members 🤷🏽♂️
I just love this gym, and the fact that they have a sauna is such a plus ... is always clean and no weirdos .
This definitely looks like the place we would like to take a look at. I just filled out for the three day pass. I will adjust the stars once im done with it. Im starting with Four for just the incredible look of the place and location....
The management is terrible. When I first toured, I asked if there was basketball and was told there was, only to find out the only court they have is outside and open to the public. I also joined because there was a sauna and steam room- both closed about 2 months after Id joined. AG has pushed the reopening back countless times, stringing me along and taking my money each month. First it was set to open at the end of summer, then the end of the year, then January, now APRIL 30th is the new date theyve chosen to say it will reopen. I had to keep paying full membership for a year despite their whole facility being open or pay additional cancellation fees and lose months Ive paid ahead for.Dont waste your time with these thieves, they only want your money and dont care about customer service!
Great swimming facilities for both kids and adults. The athletic facilities look great as well -- I cant wait for my little guy to be ready to play soccer or basketball here.
The woman in charge of giving the children cleats for the football games was extremely nasty and rude. My sons team is going to end up on to the field, in the rain without any cleats. I hope no one slips or gets hurt
THE AG SECURITY DIRECTOR WITH THE APPROVAL OF AG DIRECTOR MAGGY SIEGEL STOLE CASH MONIES FROM MY LOCKER.As a member for 18 years my membership was revoked due to an incident in which i complained about the dangers of constant pool overcrowding . Without my permission and told by me not to enter my locker Ms Siegel the facility director told security to clip my lock and to enter my locker . SECURITY WITH THE APPROVAL OF MS SIEGEL STOLE $125.00 CASH MONIES FROM MY LOCKER. MS SIEGEL REFUSES TO COOPERATE WITH ME. SHE WILL NOT PROVIDE ME WITH THE NAME OF AG ATTORNEY OR INSURANCE CARRIER. THE DIRECTORS WILL NOT ORDER THE RETURN OF MY MONIES.MS SIEGEL KNOWS SECURITY STOLE THE MONIES AND REFUSES TO FIRE SECURITY AND RETURN MY MONIES.
Asphalt Green is such an amazing place! We were so impressed by everything they offer!
I would like to know if you need to have a membership in order to enter ? And if so, how much is it. Thank you
Great place to workout. Friendly and helpful staff. Love this place
Lots of swimming events plus learning how to swim lessons. Very family friendly and inviting.
There are serious safety issues in the women’s locker room at Asphalt Green on 90th Street. My 3-year-old twins took swim class on Sunday mornings. Following our class on while, we were dressing in the women’s locker room when suddenly a deafening level of music began blasting, frightening my children and causing them to cry. Even though I was yelling at the top of my voice, my children and babysitter could barely hear me nor me them. Due to the unsafe decibel noise level, I scrambled to get my children out of locker room as quickly as possible. On my way out I noticed the noise was generated by an electrical cord strung on the wet floor and connected to an iPod docking station in the shower area with water splashing, an obvious fire and electrocution risk, and a gross code violation.I spoke to the front desk staff on my way out. They were familiar with this problem and indicted it had occurred before and was caused by the girls’ swim team. They referred me to the swim team coach. I attempted to address this unsafe situation with her but she responded by sneering at me and in a contemptuous, dismissive tone saying, “Well, did you tell them to turn it down”, then walked away. Not only was she rude and unprofessional, she, was grossly negligent for failing to address this safety issue. She tried to ignore it and turn this problem around putting it back on me. As a customer, my accountability was to my two young children; it is the duty of Asphalt Green staff to handle the dangerous misbehavior of the girls’ swim team, not mine. I am appalled to learn that these noise and electrical safety violations have been an ongoing problem and that the head coach at Asphalt Green.
Nice people, nice equipment. Good experience overall
Never had a problem here. The pool is pretty much as nice as youll get in the city and always very clean
Love the view from upper floors. Super clean. Wifi doesnt work tho.
Create Facility, but it is very hard to find a time when the big turf field it open to the public.
Open to everyone to play.. awesome
I grew up in Asphalt green, my kids now play on the baseball team, swim there. The coachs and camp staff are excellent
Its awsome ivworkvthere and its alwsys verry clean and the employes are verry nice
Asphalt Green has the best swimming pool, the best soccer field & the rest is really good.
Lockers room for premium members have been closed for 6 months. Swimming events are constantly taking over full weekend.Dont sign up.
Great Basketball Academy
I stole some ELEVATOR parts from here.
Bad place. Do not come
Horrible $35 tiny locker rooms dirty and little kids all over the place....and i had to pay $1 for a towel....sad...north end better

Soccer
My son is in the Saturday soccer program. Im extremely disappointed how the program is going so far.1. The program has been primarily about more than 20 kids playing freely and widely. There was little to no organization, let alone drill, practice or instructions. The coaches started by throwing the ball in the air, without even any warm-up. Then it was just wild chasing after the ball, kids pushing each other.2. The coaches just stood there watching on. No instructions, no strategy, no team morale building, nothing.3. One coach pretty much just sat by a goal post, lounging, looking at his phone, talking on his phone, for the entire hour.A bunch of parents around me were disappointed too. One parent said its like daycare, and he mentioned the other soccer club is a much stronger program than Asphalt Greens program.Asphalt Green does not allow cancellation after the 2nd training session but they dont make changes to their program. Really disappointed. Will look for other soccer programs.
