I called Datarecovery47 and worked with Donny on recovering my data. Overall customer service experience was great. Whenever I had questions, Donny answered them quickly and his crew was even working on the weekends to get it done asap. He also offered to meet with me on Saturday to pick up my drive. Only downside is that it will be expensive. Had to pay $1500 to fully recover my 900GB hard drive so do know its going to be pricey. That said, I fully understand Data recovery is a complicated process and requires many man hours to get done. Youre also probably not gonna get a better deal elsewhere. Two weeks ago, my external drive was no longer recognized by my laptops drives and after trying all the different recommendations on how to fix it on the internet, I realized I needed professional assistance. After doing research of the different data recovery companies in the area, I decided to go with Data Recovery 47.I called last Saturday afternoon, thinking I was going to get the companys voicemail. To my pleasant surprise, an actual person answered! It turned out to be Donny...I explained my situation to him and he immediately said he can take a look at it. He took the time to explain the cost...that if it was a simple recovery, it would cost this much. If it were a hard recovery, Id be looking at this amount. He further explained that I did not have to pay anything upfront AND the only time I would pay anything is when he would be handing me all of my recovered files from my external drive. So, basically, if he/his crew couldnt recover my files, I didnt have to pay anything. I told him Id like to get my external drive to him that same day, so he could diagnose it. Donny gave me his home office address so I could drop it off. (He also provided me the option to mail it to him.) I dropped it off to him and an hour or so later he called me with the diagnosis. I asked him to give me until the next day because I wanted to confirm a couple of things. He said that was fine. I ended up pulling my old laptop out of storage and turned it on. Lo and behold! All of my files I thought I deleted after transferring them to my external drive were all there and accessible! GREAT for me!!! So, I let Donny know I wouldnt need him to do the recovery since I still had all the files. HOWEVER, if I didnt have them on my old laptop, I definitely, without hesitation would have had Donny do the recovery. I know if I need anything like this done in the future, I will be calling Donny again!Thank you, Donny...for being so patient and understanding! I went to Data Recovery 47 in June 2018 after an external hard drive with important data on it stopped working. After an initial analysis, Donny Zanger quoted me a price that seemed fairly reasonable. Then his tech started to dig into the situation only to discover the damage to the disk was worse than initially thought, and would take longer than expected to retrieve whatever data was recoverable.Although not ideal for anyone, the process ended up taking some six months to retrieve the data, as the Data Recovery team worked slowly and gingerly so as not to further damage the disk during the recovery/data retrieval process. Considering the information on the disk, it was worth the wait from my perspective.But what really impressed me was that despite the length of time it took and the opportunity costs involved to complete the job, Donny held firm to the price he quoted me back in June. I am highly confident many rivals would not stick to the originally quoted price.As I told Donny, I hope never to see him again, but if I experience a similar problem, Data Recovery 47 is my go-to.

Data Recovery 47 on the UES in Manhattan is the most unprofessional and unscrupulous company that I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Dont let the good reviews fool you, I cant imagine they are legitimate. This place is a massive scam. I gave them a drive months ago and after following up with them dozens of times, after accepting a $1500 charge to recover my hard drive, I am told that my drive is unrecoverable. Zero professionalism, zero accountability, zero care for YOUR PRECIOUS DATA OR TIME. THIS IS YOUR ONLY WARNING, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.The problem isnt necessarily the fact that they could not recover the data, although that should be the benchmark that a data recovery company should be rated by, and under that criteria they get one star. The problem is that they lie regarding their ability to fix a drive as well as the status of the inevitably failed project, and while doing so, communicate in a disrespectful and condescending way, stringing you along for literally months making you promises and telling you how hard they are working on your drive, and how their tech is staying up late to work on it. Then, they say you can pick the drive up in two days, and two days later they will say a few more days. After a few more months of this run around youll be told that your data is unrecoverable. Instead of doing business with them and reliving my experience, please do yourself a favor and find a more professional and reputable data recovery service, DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND DO NOT TRUST THE REVIEWS IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR DATA.
