It started off as a convenient place to get a good haircut, but even after moving out of the area, I still make the trip down there to get my hair cut by these guys. My friend and I are natives of NYC and yes its difficult to get a good barbershop these days. Some of them are too hipster for me and I dont plan on going to a salon and paying 50+ dollars for a cut every too weeks. Mike is my go to and my friend goes to Manny as well they are very good. FYI this is also coming from a person that has the same guy cutting his hair since her was 12! For me to leave my barber and come here must mean something. And no my barber is not old and didnt die if thats what youre thinking 😁

Finally a reasonably priced Barber shop in the city with a great staff. I seem to always come away happy with my haircut. There are certainly better barbers than others (Mike) but everyone is always friendly and you will think you paid much more than what they charge. You might as well try it as they do offer a discount for first-time cuts.

If you want a quick, inexpensive, quality haircut -- I would highly recommend you check this place out. I am a sucker for spending 30 plus at a salon ... this place set me back 17 -- and I walked out just as satisfied (who need a deep scalp massage). No thrills and you walk out happy -- the barbers were quick and efficient -- I was in an out in less than 20 minutes and my hair was cut pretty exceptionally. If you are around the area I would definitely recommend checking them out.

Good barbers, but very unprofessional. They swear and talk about the customers right in front of them in Russian. In my case, they were discussing the tip of the guy who just left and saying that the guy next to me was wearing fake yeezys because young white guys usually don’t have the real ones.

Was in town for business and needed a trim before an evening dinner. I walked right in and sat down. The cut was excellent, fast, and really affordable. I wish we had barbers like this where I live. Next time I’m in NY I’ll come back. Highly recommended.

I’ve been coming here every 3-4 weeks ever since I came to New York and they do great haircuts for a great price. Unfortunately the staff is unprofessional. It’s not ok to let in people who’ve just arrived (not necessarily with an appointment) just because you know them well. After constant reassurance that it wouldn’t be too long, I finally gave up and left. I wasted an hour of my day when they could have been upfront. Colossal waste of time on my part and waste of money on theirs. Needless to say, absolutely do not recommend.

Danny, our buddy and barber, and Joseph, another barber.I have known these guys since i moved into the hood in 2006. These 3 guys are the nicest and best barbers in all of NYC, in my opinion.They always have smiles on their faces even as busy as they get. They are also funny with their jokes and whatnot.The appointment books for these 3 are filled everyday for every appointment.East 6th Street Barber Shop is clean, neat, tidy, and warm & cozy. They are always very professional and the shop is maintain likewise.They renovated the entire shop about 5 years ago, and the place have really shined like an old clean penny.

They do a great job here and charge reasonable prices but even when you make an appointment, you end up waiting 30 minutes. If youre going to come here, dont bother with an appointment. Youll just be disappointed.

Ive been going to Danny for haircuts every month for the past 3 years, and always have the same great experience. I started going to him after both my brothers raved about him, so Danny has been the go-to barber for my entire family - I think that says it all!

Extremely quick and efficient. I wish the staff was a little more friendly to customers they dont know, but for such a cheap hair cut that was executed very well, I cant complain.

Been getting haircuts from one guy in particular for a few years, and they blatantly lied to me about my go-to barber leaving. Instead they make me wait 20 minutes--taking walk ins ahead of me--and give me to someone whose maybe done 3-4 haircuts total before. He does a hack job on my hair and I ended up need to go get it fixed. So much for 8 years of loyalty. Luckily my main barber (Alex) is around the corner at St.Marks Barber Shop. Go to him if you want a real haircut, and come here if you like being brown nosed and lied to.

Ive been seeing Doctor Mike since before he and Danny founded East 6th Street Barber Shop — over 17 years ago — and I havent cheated on him since, even when I subsequently moved to MA, CT, MD, and CA. Okay, there were times when I had to get my hair cut in a pinch when living in other states or traveling across the globe, but I would often go out of my way, across state lines, to plan an appointment with Mike, whose skills rival those of any haute stylist. Hes also charming as hell.

Great cuts at a good price. I have a shop in my hometown that gives fancy fades and cuts for a $75. I get better cuts from Avi at half the price. Cant beat it.

These guys are bona fide the best in the East Village. I get my sides and back cut very short, so if it isnt done right my hair looks like someone hacked at it with a butter knife in as little as a week. I havent had this problem since I started visiting Alex for almost a year now. He earns 5 stars for this review alone.The guy is an artist, and wont settle for anything but the best. There have been times where Ive given the okay and am literally about to get out of my seat when Alex says, Hang on, I dont like how this spot looks while he revs up his clippers again. He covers the last chair; trust me you wont be sorry.Add another star for how friendly everyone is. They even gave me a ton of magazines to use for a art project once.2 more stars for the incredible price point. You know that moment of hesitation you feel before you hand over the plastic to pay for a haircut at a boutique salon? I cut myself lose from that mess after realizing I was paying a 200% markup for a 10 minute scalp massage. You shouldnt have to choose between a fresh cut and whether or not you get to eat tonight—youre better than that. Dont forget to tip your barber, they deserve it!Hang on, how many stars was that?
