I have been living here going on a year and I love my apartment so much! It was great to find an apartment that was reasonably priced during the pandemic as well as after. I have great water pressure, an amazing full size kitchen, and plenty of space! My experience with the team has been very nice, too. Whenever I have a question or need anything, they are very responsive and helpful. The building is very clean and well maintained. The neighbors are very nice and kind. I can’t believe I found a cute, new, and affordable apartment in Seattle that I don’t want to leave! The high ceilings in my unit with floor to ceiling windows is the cherry on top for me. I would 10/10 recommend and heavily suggest checking these units out. If there isn’t the right unit available at one building, I know they have multiple buildings around Seattle, they’re definitely worth it!
My review is about a specific employee, Kristen Z. She has been outstandingly great at everything. She gave me a great virtual tour. Coming from out of town, I had tons of questions, but she answered all of my questions in great detail. Thanks to Kristen, my move in was a very smooth process, all the way down to my roommate pairing! Kristen responds to emails in a timely manner as well, the communication is great for sure so no need to worry about that when working with Kristen!Overall Kristen is fantastic, she goes above and beyond! Thank you Kristen, I really appreciate you! :)
Samantha, a Member Support Specialist at Common has been incredibly helpful. My move-in experience at the current Common building I am in was very rocky. I reached out to the member support team to try and get some issues resolved and Samantha took on the case. She was so helpful, supportive and informative every step of the way. We were able to get the move-in issues resolved and reach an agreement. Since then, my experience with Common has been great, due in large part to Samanthas help. Thank you for everything, Samantha!
Absolutely terrible experience. They recently acquired our building and want us to pay through an app. There is no option to make an account on the app, and no information has been sent to me regarding my payment account. I have been calling since 9/18 DAILY with no response whatsoever from Common. The front office is appointment only due to covid. But guess what? No one is picking up the phones to allow us to create an appointment! This is absolutely the worst service I’ve had from ANY property management company in my history of renting. I am so disgusted and disappointed.
It has been a month living here and the experience has been amazing! Special shout out to Cody for helping me find the right living space, answering all my questions, and helping me every step of the way. He showed professionalism, enthusiasm, and provided clear information whenever we discussed my future at Common.Besides great customer services, the space is beautiful, clean, and modern. I am a big fan of the large windows that let in natural light in the living spaces. Besides the unit, my other favorite space is the gym - it has everything you need for any type of work out, and the variety of equipment allows me to switch up routines as frequently as I want.
I have had a great experience at commons over the past 8 months. The amenities have been amazing for the price you pay, and the community is very unique. The staff is very professional and makes you feel welcome in every aspect. Cody especially has been so helpful during my time living here no matter what the issue is. Safe to say that I have enjoyed my stay and will continue to live here if they keep it up!! :)
I had the pleasant experience to be met by the young and friendly leasing manager, Austin, at the Common Madison location in Seattle. He was quite thorough and gracious, despite his busy schedule, and he showed me three units, saving the best for last—a corner unit with a beautiful view. The apartment was exactly what I was looking for, and I know that I will enjoy my time there. My only complaint is that I would like it to be easier to contact the office folks by telephone.
The tour was great. Zack was great. However moving in was terrible. The team was very unresponsive and didnt really help me with the moving in process. Also, Common had a lot of problems I was unaware of. Felt like they just wanted someone to move into the space, just so they arent losing money. But again, the tour was great. Zack was great.
Zack was very helpful with the tour and general information. Communication was super poor, hard to get a hold of anyone to ask any questions. Zack was the only one who made himself readily available by phone or email. The apartments are amazing, clean and updated in a safe and nice area. Once you get past dealing with the leasing office it’s a great place.
Moving in was quick and easy. From the airport, I went directly to the building and was able to access everything seamlessly with the keyless entry. I had some minor issues during move-in day, submitted a ticket and the support team was able to respond quickly. Lastly, Brooke was kind enough to check-in on me during my move-in and was able to provide a few additional information that I might need. Overall, Im satisfied with the Apartment Building that Im in, its not perfect but its good enough.
Common Sycamore in LA is a comfortable, clean and thoughtfully planned living space for a group. A lot of communication with Common takes place online which can be challenging, and I had positive experiences in that regard when taking a virtual tour of the suite with Zack Sultan. He was friendly and welcoming, and also very well-informed about the features of the coliving space. As the process went on, he was responsive to the questions I had, and found time in his schedule of tours to help me secure the room that was best suited to me. Ive been here a month now and am finding the living arrangement works very well.
Had a great experience with the team at Common C1, Marina Del Rey, CA. The team were spot on, especially Tristen who went out of his way to understand and personalize our needs and showcase the properties that were relevant.
The ONLY reason I am giving this 5 stars is because of one man, Austin Fetter. I just moved to Washington from Michigan for my work, and I needed an apartment fast, he helped me with signing my lease online, and explained everything to me. When I got here I received keys for my apartment that didn’t work, and a few days later than I was supposed to after having to message and call the emergency line for hours. when I realized the keys didn’t work, I called the emergency number and had to play phone tag with them and was getting no answers. Austin happened to see me, and asked if I needed any help. I explained the situation and he dropped what he was doing to help me so I could access my apartment. I’m sure he had other things to do, but the fact that he stopped to help me speaks volumes as to who he is as a person. He is a 5 star employee and Common is very very lucky to have him!
Really happy with the entire touring process. Urgency was a critical factor for me, and I was looking at lots of options. The personal touch from Zack at Common really made all the difference — professional, responsive, and he took the time to listen and understand my needs. After the first tour with Zack, I cancelled my other options, and he got my situated fast and seamlessly.
I moved to DC July 2020 and this place is a perfect place to start when you know nothing about the area. Intended to stay 3 months and Im still here. Im now ready for my own place but there are no 1 bedrooms available but liking Union Market and found a place next door. I recently worked with Layne, Member Support Specialist, to extend my move out date 1 week. One e-mail and a solution was quickly provided. Thanks Layne for be flexible and accommodating!
BE AWARE because this company is not trustworthy. I am still afraid that they will take my money away and never give it back. I am writing this review so others can be aware and not experience the same thing. The management of my apartment in NYC changed to the Common in the middle of my lease. I have moved out now but still havent received my security deposit to my new address after 42 days. The lease that I signed says that I am to get the security deposit back 14 days after lease end date.I was very responsible when moving out. I told them a month and a half before moving out, and took the exit survey. They also did a move out walk through. So, I thought everything was going smoothly. I emailed the support team when it hit the 14 day mark and I still havent received the deposit. Overall, I emailed the support team 5 times, put in an inquiry online once, I called the members line 5 times, and reached out to their billing team 3 times. They havent replied to a single email for 3 weeks. There is only one number you can call - customer support. The customer support team cant direct you to other teams or their own managers. They can only talk through slack and can only put inquires/send tickets into the system and wait for someone to see it and reply. The support team told me for 2 straight weeks that some one will reach out to me but nobody has. Today the customer service team even hung up on me as I was talking to them and didnt pick up my phone calls afterwards. MANY OTHER REVIEWS (including yelp) say the same thing about not being able to get security deposit back. So, if you want your deposit to be stolen away from you like this and just hope that they will read your emails you should sign with them.
Where do I begin. This is the most POORLY managed property company I have ever experienced. To start off, I live at the Philadelphia Frankford Location. There is no property manager, no leasing office, and no direct phone number for this specific building. When you have an issue and need to call the company, you are given the emergency hotline number or the NYC number listed online. When you call (IF SOMEONE EVEN ANSWERS) it is a person who is not able to address any issues. They can only create tickets to submit to management to be resolved. If you try to email the email listed, you get an automatic response from a robot telling you that someone will reach out shortly, which DOES NOT HAPPEN. This causes an extreme delay in response IF YOU EVEN GET ONE AT ALL.The portal online is absolutely terrible for managing payments. It is glitchy and shows no information about your transactions or payments AT ALL. For 2 months, my payments for rent have are shown as Processing. Processing? For two months? I started to get emails from a robot telling me my rent is overdue - when I have tried multiple times to pay it. I tried changing my payment method and bank account number and the portal will not let me. I have been calling, emailing, and creating tickets for 2 MONTHS. I have not been contacted ONE TIME by a person in authority that could actually help me and resolve the issue. This company is so poorly managed it is NOT worth living here at all. It is absolutely insane at the amount that they charge for rent when they cannot even provide the service that they are supposed to. I am appalled. Thank god my lease was only for 3 months. Who KNOWS IF MY ISSUE WILL EVEN BE RESOLVED BY THE TIME I MOVE OUT. I cannot imagine if I had an actual issue with my apartment (locked out/broken appliance). I am sure that it would take months for it to be resolved.Until this company implements a property management system, has a leasing office located in Philadelphia, and fixes their chain of command I do not suggest living here. Renters are not their priority - social media and marketing is.
APPLICATION PROCESSI do have to admit that in the beginning the road to securing an apartment was very rocky as I started my process on a holiday weekend. (July 4) Tip for those who would like to rent here:1. Write back as soon as possible2. Make several phone calls and leave a message3. Make sure to be ready to sign after touring. It makes the process a whole lot easier.4. you may only need to bring bedding in some of the units because the furniture is all so put together.I would like to especially thank Matt G. as he helped me find a place in Washington, DC. He was attentive had many people help us. If you dont know finding a place to stay in DC is a nightmare. SO Common was my go to as it brought a sense of ease into moving.I gave the company one star as reaching the company at times is difficult and other times I can find a Common employee easily. i would like that to be improved.Umm if you missed one tour then getting to another Common rental property is a headache as you will have to call and leave a message. I would just do what needs to be done the first time! Word to the wise is sufficient!
I moved in with common this week and I’m super impressed. I chose to move into the units that were ‘available now’. The way the company works is that they assign you to one representative who is able to handle your showings and requests for a variety of properties. I was fortunately in talks with Marquise Callaway, an absolute charm to work with. His enthusiasm and promptness allowed me to study all options I had in mind and make a confident decision about choosing the property I wanted to live in. My customer experience has been stellar so far!
So far so good! looking forward to living here.Zack Sultan was very helpful in the process. I was able to do some tours in person but there was a few that had to be done virtually and he assisted and worked with me as I was abroad. The only note is that the leasing office as a whole could be more responsive and timely with emails.
I am so happy to be moving into a property manger by common leasing. I was given so much insight and help from their agents and the team, especially Zack Sultan as he helped me throughout the whole process and ensured I got the apartment of my dreams! Super grateful and stoked to be part of the common family! To new beginnings ✨✨✨
Zack Sultan was beyond helpful. He answered every single question I had and was very responsive to my emails because of this I was able to quickly get my application done in the short period of time that I had and not only that but found the perfect room in the process because of him. Definitely will recommend common to any friends who are looking to move due to the fact that this team stays on top of it.
Do business with this company at your own risk. My son had a summer internship and signed a 3 month lease for the North Hollywood location owned by Starcity. Common purchased Starcity in the middle of his lease. He moved out on 8/8, and has still not received his deposit nor has he received the refund of rent that was over paid. Attempts to contact them go unreturned . My wife sent an email on 9/8 and on 9/20 Natalie Vittini responded saying the refunds had been processed, but no money was ever received. They are dishonest and untrustworthy.
Working with agents like James Troyer makes living in this place SO easy. I get responses for my home asap, and hes so personable and easy to communicate with. I am transferring rooms to stay for another year, and James was able to make this happen in a 6 minute phone call. Ive lived at a lot of apartments, and nowhere else is it THAT easy.
I was really impressed with how smooth everything went together, I did not have to wait long for a response and I felt as ease. I was helped in a tremendous way and it wasn’t a hassle at all. Really appreciate the willingness and help. God bless the person who helped me and all those on the team for their assistance, patience and understanding.
I recently came in for a tour with Cody and had an amazing experience! Cody was very helpful and recommended units that worked best within my budget. He was extremely kind and gave thorough information about the units that we toured as well as the entire neighborhood itself while also adhering to all of my requests and concerns. Overall i really enjoyed my viewing and with the help of Cody I found a unit that worked great for me!
Julie has been the best person to contact and get matters handled. Common overall is a great place to live, especially if youre like me and have to bounce around from time to time. I have recommend Common to a lot of my friends because of the convenience of it all. And I truly want to thank Julie for answering ever little question I may have and shes always really nice, very professional, and helpful!
I just moved into I5 in DC this week and I have a great experience. Specifically, I would like to thank Cody Prescott Kindle who made the process seamless and was very helpful with getting my parking situation set up as well. The building is great and has very nice amenities. So far highly recommend!!
I am a college student completely new to the leasing process but the community manager (Cody Prescott) did absolutely everything to streamline the process and ping the necessary parties so that my application would be considered. I had an extremely stressful past couple of days including missing a flight and having to rearrange plans in order to get to my internship on time and the patience that Cody has shown was nothing but extraordinary. I know that it took a lot to deal with my persistence but Cody never got upset with me and very much took my repeated messages in professional stride and did not seem bothered at all. He is a true professional and I would readily work with him again.
I am really enjoying my experience with common so far. The company employees are friendly and professional, and are casual in a way that is inviting but stable. The space is great, and I love the amenities. The building is well constructed, and I have loved being able to live in a positive co-living situation. I would recommend common to students, and people moving in between places, for a calm and safe environment.
Ive had great customer service from the Common team – Layne has been especially helpful and responsive as I prepare for an upcoming move to one of the Chicago apartments. Ive had a great experience with Common so far and would recommend it to other people looking for accommodation in a new city!
I am a college student and was in need of a reasonably priced apartment for the summer, Common ended up being that spot for me and included amenities that other places did not. The leasing specialist(Cody) has done an amazing job of helping me throughout the leasing process, which was my first time doing so. He was very resourceful, proactive and easy to get in touch with when I had questions. It did take a bit of time to hear from the leasing team(needed to move in quick), but Cody did his best to move the process quickly for me.
I have lived here for only 2 weeks and cannot wait to leave as I already cannot get ANY of the issues Ive brought up to member services to be resolved in a timely and professional manner. You will receive generic responses from different reps each time you get an email regarding an issue and they will not respond when you ask why things are taking so long or be able to reference other tickets in their own system for some reason. I was never provided a mailbox key upon move in, and have been told more than once I would receive a key from maintenance; after the first week long delay the maintenance guy shows up only to admit he doesnt have a key because someone took the master. He then proceeds to tell me if one of my suitemates has a key he can come back to make a copy the next business day. Now member services is telling me its going to take another 4 days for maintenance to return and that there is no ticket in the system for the key. In addition, the caulking around my window is damaged from moisture and I reported that the day after moving in and nothing has been done yet (the maintenance man also assured me hed be back today to finish that) thatll take another 4 days to fix for some reason. If you can go somewhere else as they will not take your issues seriously once theyve received their money.
Zack was very professional and friendly. He answered all of my questions and easy to get in touch with. He responded promptly when I reached out to him and was helpful throughout the whole process. Overall, I highly recommend working with Zack!
I like the service and idea! the staff was amazing. but I dont think it is worth the price. the rooms are extremely small and suffocating. there is no common area to hang out. the kitchen area is small. overpriced!!
I’ve had some major issues since moving in with my washing machine, television and remote, and the ever ongoing issues with the building’s front door entrance. The frustration of waiting for someone to come out via gate or front door to a place you pay rent is frustrating. You would think the purpose of having everything work via technology(app) is that it would be fail proof. But, I want to give a huge shoutout to Zack Sultan for always taking on the responsibility of resolving the issues by talking to the higher ups and keeping in touch with me to make sure the issue is being acknowledged and resolved by the higher ups. I really appreciate him for going above and beyond and his passion for resolving issues!!!
I signed a lease with Common in January as I was a student intern and needed a comfortable and quick place to stay in New York City. I had a great experience and decided to resign another lease for a year. Mid way through my lease Common sold our building to another property management and gave us not even a 2 weeks notice. New management has been terrible, trash disposal has not been taken out in nearly 2 weeks (I had to file a sanitation complaint with the state who launched an investigation ) and Common claims they are no longer responsible for any inconveniences this may have caused and removed us from the Common app. This is extremely unprofessional, I signed my lease with Common and now have been forced to finish a lease under new property management who we are not familiar with at all, a fee of $45 to simply pay my rent using a credit card as well as no cleaning service but expected to pay the same amount in rent with a decrease in service. Extremely unacceptable and would not recommend to anyone interested. Homes are not up to date and pictures are staged. Absolutely inexcusable!
Just moved in recently and it’s all good so far.. dealt with many different members of the team, layne was great, nichol was wonderful. And there was another guys name that I feel bad for forgetting but he was good too! Haven’t had any issues and love the neighborhood. Laid back and quiet.
One of the worst landlords. The family-friendly act is a sham. They do not maintain their properties (for example, front door constantly breaking), appliances breaking all the time, and there is trash everywhere. Also, they have failed to return my security deposit after two months since moving out. At best, you have an overpriced apartment that is no good. At worst, you are forced to pursue legal action for them to return your deposit.Re: feedback to your member support: I have emailed you several times, and you havent sent the deposit. You similarly didnt address things when I lived there.
I had the best experience with leasing agent Zack S. I was really frustrated with Common because they werent answering my calls or emails (I called them over 20 times in two days and nothing). When Zack saw that my application wasnt taken care of, he immediately messaged me and helped me with every problem and question I had. He was fast, responsive and always super helpful. I have now signed a lease and Im excited to move in soon! Zack really made a frustrating experience a really good experience with Common co-living.
I was honestly kind of lost with this move but Zach came and helped me tremendously. He was responsive, kind, respectful, professional, literally all of the above. I recommend to anyone who wants to move to common to talk to Zach. I couldn’t have done it without him.Thank you.
Cody was so kind in helping me and my suite mate find and secure a room that was perfect for our needs! His response time was impeccable and his desire to help us fulfill our needs was so genuine! He was very patient and went the extra mile to show us the essence of the commons without us even being there physically! He made our leasing experience super worthwhile! Thank you Cody!!
The application process was very efficient and fast, especially thanks to Hayden T. She was very helpful and very responsive throughout the whole process. She answered all the questions I had and responded in a timely manner. Thanks Hayden.
I just moved in last week and the move in process was a breeze. Place came with paper towels, toilet tissue, soap, and other amenities that apartments usually don’t come with. Weekly cleaning service, apartment is beautiful, I’ve gotten so many compliments on the bathroom, living room/kitchen and my bedroom. Service seems responsive so far. It’s just me and one roommate in a 3 bedroom currently so there is plenty of space. Not exactly sure how things will be if/when 3rd person moves in (There’s 2 bathrooms and limited storage space) but I’m enjoying my stay so far and really looking forward to the rest of my lease. I would renew it possible for another lease as of now!
Common Living is an amazing place and the workers here are even more amazing. Zack Sultan has been exceptional with assisting me throughout the entire process. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience in renting my first apartment.
I am so relieved and elated to be moving into my co-living space with Common!!!! Cody turned my daunting apartment search into a mind blowing experience! He was beyond great as he took his time to fit me into his schedule stating that he sensed my urgency to move (which couldn’t be more accurate). Throughout my tour he was extremely knowledgeable about the amenities and differences in each unit. He explained every step of the process and broke down the fees plain and simple. I loved everything about my visit today so much so I applied on the spot! Cannot wait to move in! Thanks so much Cody for taking the stress off of me to allow me to enjoy my Memorial Day weekend! *I’m not crying, you’re crying*
I’m only giving 4 stars because I did not have a smooth transition moving in. After talking to countless other representatives, one was finally able to help me get my keycard activated. But 5 stars for her, Thank you Jennifer!
Julie was very helpful during my move-in process. I wish I can enjoy my living here!
Not sure why this place has 4 stars. They initially reached out to me through email. I replied back and I could barely get in touch with anyone and I don’t even live at one of their locations. I reached out online asking for more information about the application process since I wanted to move in fairly soon. I submitted my information online, called them, and left a message. I didn’t hear anything back. Then I booked a tour online and figured I could ask them my questions in person. They cancelled the tour the day of and told me I needed to reschedule. That was a week later and the first time I got a reply from someone. When I replied back stating that I’d like to get a few preliminary questions answered before proceeding. They ghosted me. The agent that reached out was Sabrina.Bottom line: I realized that if I couldn’t even get a reply from them before living there, I probably won’t get any replies if I did live at one of their locations.
I just signed my lease for common Brower and I couldn’t be happier! Everyone has been responsive and helpful so far, and Sharlyn and Carter have answered all the questions I may have! Thanks common!
I am very grateful for the super attention they have given me, since they have given me good attention, speed with the response of the application, I am very grateful to Mr. Zack Sultan, he is a very good person, he is super attentive to everything and he helped me to that everything is easier I want to rate Mr. Zack Sultan with 100% I am very grateful to him
The furnishings are nice, and many of their amenities are great for the price. HOWEVER, if you are even considering Common, DONT!!!! The interaction with management, leasing, and sales has been absolutely AWFUL! I would call and email to inquire about various properties, and could never get a straight answer about the price and availability of units. I would speak with one person, who would say that a given property was available immediately but was $1500/month (net effective), but then would speak with another person who would say that the property was not available for weeks, and was actually only $1100/month (net effective). This back and forth went on for weeks, before I finally found a place I was happy with and could snag a great price for. However, when I called sales back to ask them a quick question, they told me that the cheapest unit was $1900/month (yeah, right?). I told them that I had literally JUST spoken with the leasing agent ON SITE, and she told me the price was $1250... sales told me that they didnt know anything about that LOL!!! The email confirmation I got FROM THAT VERY SAME LEASING AGENT (who had previously given me the $1200 net effective price) said that the apartment was only $1,000. WHHHAAATTTTT???? WHATTTTTTTT???? I wasnt going to complain about getting a lower price, but it was still SUPER annoying to get so many mixed messages. I decided to go ahead and sign the lease, and read ALL TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY PAGES of it. Both parties (myself and common) signed all leasing documents, and yet they are now trying to force me to get renters insurance and pay a security deposit and larger 1st months rent than normal which are *explicitly not required in the lease.* If you are one of those people who just signs things without reading and agrees to whatever they tell you to do, you might be fine... but if you care about what youre signing and want your landlord to honor their commitments under the lease, then I would look elsewhere.
Marquis was very informative about the residence and helpful throughout the whole process. It was my first time looking at apartments and he made me comfortable with the whole situation.
This is a good place to rent. Maybe not seamlessly perfect, but close enough for my tastes. And their hires do an outstanding job at what they do. Good stuff.
In the process of signing a short term lease at Common and Zack Sultan has been awesome!! If you are considering moving to any of the LA locations it will be a super easy process with him.
Ending my lease was very straight forward and simple, got a response in my email fairly fast from Layne.
Living here has been an incredibly positive experience. The staff is super friendly and helpful when it comes to any requests. Layne especially has been awesome to work with and is always super responsive.
James Troyer, my dedicated leasing specialist, was absolutely wonderful in helping with my lease renewal. Friendly, courteous & willing to work with me in regards to lease terms + payment. I absolutely LOVE the apartment, its in an *incredible* neighborhood & is beyond affordable given the location + amenities provided. If it werent for this place, I wouldnt have moved to the city. Very grateful to Common for helping make my NYC dreams come true!
I have bumped into an issue with my parking clicker and getting my spot . Layne helped me and was very friendly + professional. He makes sure my issues been taking care of and i am thankful for his help .
Such a beautiful 😻 song 🎶 bird 🦢 who told me everything I needed to hear 👂🏿 🥰 thanks Hayden, thanks for being down to earth 🌍
Trying to find housing for my son who’s away on an internship had been stressful until I was referred to Common ‘s by a staff member at i5 Union Market. The location is upscale, modern and very affordable.Cody Prescott-Kindle,you were a godsend!!You were honest, professional from beginning to end and you left no questions unanswered.Your customer service was extraordinary. You were very attentive and pleasant to talk to.I truly appreciate your help and I can’t thank you enough.Continue being a valuable staff/family member at Common’s i5 Union Market.
The move in process was very easy especially being that I had complications on my end. Common was very accommodating and had someone waiting to walk me through getting in and out of the apartment. Id recommend them as anyones first apartment.
Austin has been very helpful and responsive whenever I have a concern. Common in general has been a good experience. Thanks!
Extremely poor experience living one year at Common Addams.Common is an incompetent organization at best. There was no on-site manager to handle living issues, and it was nearly impossible to escalate. Here are a few examples:- our neighbors below were flooded with water and it took extreme efforts to get any person to help make accommodations- we had neighbors that smoked profusely and it took collective efforts of 5 neighbors to convince management that it was an issue- rooftop party had a professional DJ making the top two floors shake, but the best response we could get was to call the police in the future- the worst was Common handing off this business to new management after only one year. I email to make sure that I wouldn’t be charged for rent after they handed off to new management. No response, they screwed up, and got charged for rent. Still waiting for my $ backAll in all, these people are trying to remotely organize a living community with no empathy for residents and what they go through. Worst living experience!
I reserved a room, paid for it, signed a lease, and was on my way to the building on my moving day (today). As access codes were not given to me, I kept calling and texting the leasing person I was dealing with and was getting sporadic answers here and there.I was now on site, sitting outside the building with 4 pieces of luggage without having the login info/code to access the building for about an hour or so, all while needing to connect to my job and work…To actually find out that the room I reserved is not available and is still being occupied by someone else.A much smaller room was offered after I insisted on the phone and texts. However, I requested a tour before making my decision as I have insisted on the size during the touring and in all my exchanges because I am claustrophobic and can’t be in a tiny room.Again, my calls and texts were ignored and the one answer I got was vague and did not confirm or deny the tour. Now, 3 hours into waiting and calling the emergency line operators. I was constantly being told that someone from the leasing office will get back to me as they had found an alternative or a different room.Mind you, I moved from France 3 days ago and was in a hotel that I checked out from with nowhere to go.While waiting, I had plenty of time to talk to all the tenants that were in and out of the building and they all complained about the shady practices of management and how unresponsive and awful they were (25 days without AC, increase in rent without notice, unattended maintenance requests, etc.)After waiting 5 hours, I book a last minute expensive hotel, jump back in an Uber to head back to the hotel I was in and email Common management to refund me and to tell them that have never seen such unprofessional way of conducting business and such an awful and poor customer service. They reply within 2 minutes and offer an alternative room, access codes, and all details by email.Anyway, long story short. I will sue this company if they don’t refund me and I advise anyone considering them not to move forward. This is a horrible company.
Awesome experience with Common! A special shout-out to Marquise who helped me sooo much during the process and did a great job helping me find a place to stay in NYC!!!!
I had a tour with Cody in DC this weekend and honestly I fell in love with the atmosphere! I started an application the next day because Cody made me feel really welcome and at home. I am looking forward to moving to DC and to live in a Common apartment!
Cody, my leasing specialist is truly a gem! I loved his welcoming energy and full knowledge about the organization. I enjoyed my tour of the Union Market location. He showed me all of the wonder amenities and we told me that he picked out the wallpaper for a few of the common areas! The building itself is stunning, modern and really clean! Just minutes away from the No-ma Galludette Metro (4 min walk) and nearby grocery stores, restaurants and shops. The pricing for the suites are a little expensive for this particular location. Be sure to ask the your leasing specialist about pricing! As for the co-living suites, they’re beautifully constructed with nice neutral colors, huge windows in the bedrooms, bedroom furniture, spacious bathrooms, keyless entry/lock on bedroom doors and provided household necessities. Although, I am not a tenant (yet). I would highly consider common as a living option. Especially, if you want to live in the city or looking for a nice place to call home short or long term. Only down side, you don’t know who you’ll be living with and they’re living habits. But I love the idea of co-living in a nice and luxurious apartment building! Check it out!
Excellent service from Julie. Responses were fast, comprehensive and concise. She’s handled a range of issues I faced with lots of grace and poise. Super thankful!
My wife and I have lived in a private unit at Common Baltic in NYC for almost 2 years and we love it. We are relocating because we need a larger apartment and dont mind going further into Brooklyn for a better deal (given I am not commuting for at least a few more months). The building is modern and clean and has great amenities. Common also offers a lot of events to tenants for free, which was a great way to have fun and meet some of your neighbors (more valuable when events were in person, but still). The best part of living at Common has been the people! David and Paul go above and beyond keeping the building beautiful and in tip-top shape. And Connie lights up your day when she greets you. She greets everyone with a warm and happy exuberance that makes this place feel like home. We will definitely miss all of them.We have really loved living at Common Baltic and would recommend the place for anyone looking for a great place to live.
I signed a 6 month lease for my Brooklyn apartment with Common Jan 2021-July 2021. To be fair, at first I thought I lucked out with Common because of the amenities and perks, but it did not replace the lack of professionalism, responsiveness and MICE that several residents in my Crown Heights location reported. Common is great and responsive at first, but as soon as youre there for a few months theres a sharp decline in responsiveness and customer service. Good luck speaking to a human on the phone when youre in a pinch, because they basically only respond via email. I was randomly placed with a male suitemate against my will/approval in a two bedroom, and when I brought up switching my room/suitemate assignment I was not accommodated or assisted whatsoever. I urged Common to accommodate me for my safety and comfort, seeing as I had moved in months before him and they did absolutely nothing. I ended up leaving before my lease ended because I couldnt wait to leave. Arguably the largest issue at hand is the noise level. There is construction literally right next door, and the walls are so thin that they awaken you at 7am with bulldozing. My bedroom also had no natural light either as there was a building blocking the window (if you suffer from seasonal depression this is NOT for you). If youre desperate for a spot, this may work for you but otherwise youre better off looking elsewhere.
Had a great move in experience, and have been living at the Lanes for a few days now. The unit is quite spacious, and was very clean upon arrival. A staff member by the name of Carlos was very helpful, and is very friendly. Looking forward to living my lease here!
Edit:I was misinformed by several Common employees, one from the leasing office and one from member support that I would be sharing an apartment with one other roommate. I had to find out from my soon-to-be roommates that I will in fact be sharing my apartment with SEVEN other people. I found this out one week away from move-in. I feel disappointed and deceived. I was offered a very small amount off of my monthly rent for the inconvenience.Based off of my experience so far, I cannot recommend that anyone rent through Common.Previous review:My member support specialist Julie was a dream to work with! She answered all of my many questions with a quick response time. I couldn’t be more excited to move into my new place!
Good Service, worst customer service. James Troyer wasn’t professional and helpful.
Had a great experience dealing with Layne from Member Support! Quick responses and resolved my issues quickly.
Cody with Common Co-living and Apartments in D.C is truly phenomenal ! Securing housing for students is pretty stressful right now, but I was able to secure a place with confidence due to the outstanding customer service I was afforded ! The process of leasing remotely was seamless ! Thanks fo Cody and the rest of the team for your hard work and dedication !
Common gave me a home. It gave me friends. And a place to grow.Hancock Will give You a clean, beautiful space & a room to call Your Own.I recommend this Home if You feel Ready to live independently, are responsible, & are able to take the small things in stride. You’re with a lot of People & it’s important to really take care of Yourself ~ because when everyone does that & does their Share ~ it creates Peace. At the same time, make it Home, while You’re there ~ Share Your Joy ~ it can mean a lot to Your roommates.Common has a lot of different staff members ~ most of which are extremely kind, understanding & thoughtful. My experience with Common can be Summed Up as: “Ask & You Will Receive.” Advocate for Yourself, communicate & stay positive ~ Everything Will Work out in You favor :)!
Ive been trying to get in contact with their customer service for over a week trying to get the application moving forward and cant get a call back. they eventually helped me fix one issue and stopped responding when I ran into another issue with application. Eventually found a workaround but no contact about how I can move into the building Ive signed my lease for. Again refusing to call me back or get me in contact with someone. Absolutely worst customer service
Searching remotely for the perfect first apartment for my daughter hasnt been easy but working with someone like Cody Kindle at Common was such a relief. He answered all of my mom questions about the building maintenance, security and ammenities. He didnt try to oversell the property and even went the extra mile when I asked him to send me pictures of the outside of the building and the view corner to corner. He was super responsive and walked me through the application process and fees. We didnt end up taking the place because it didnt work out for my daughters roomate. It was a great experience and definitely set the bar even higher for what I expect now!
Desperately needed a second key for our apartment ASAP. Samantha at member services worked her magic at our location even though our facilities person was not there. Thank you for helping us last minute and making our lives more manageable.
Applied to the Elmwood location and didn’t receive good service or help from the “specialist” for the location. After a very difficult few weeks trying to get my home sorted, I was finally assigned to a wonderful socialist for a different location by the name of Hayden Tweedie. She was amazingly helpful through the whole process, and actually answered my questions like she cared about my experience.I really appreciate all she was able to help me with through this process dispite my frustrations and angry feelings surrounding my early application process.
Look forward to moving in next week. Zack Sultan was good with the video tour
Julie has been an excellent resource since moving in to Common Wyckoff. All of my questions have been handled with care. I appreciate the quickness and consistency in her replies. Thank you, Julie!
DO NOT RENT WITH COMMON!!DECEPTIVE MARKETING PRACTICES!!!UNRESPONSIVE & UNTRUTHFUL MANAGEMENT!!!BED BUGS!!!!!!LACK OF COMMUNICATION BY COMMON
One of the worst companies Ive had the displeasure of working with. Do not recommend anyone signs a lease. Less than 60 days after signing they provided 6 days notice of termination of the lease as they chose to sell the building and provided no further information.
Not very responsive! I tried to contact them for a good week through emails and calls. Nobody was really answering and when I got to talk to someone they weren’t giving me much information and the price was always changing.
Common recently took over The Lanes in Long Island City, NY and many tenants have had nothing good to say. Ive been double charged for rent without any prompt response from the Common team. I opened many tickets, sent countless emails and did not receive any response besides, I will forward this to my billing/finance team. I ultimately had to go through my bank to get them to drop the additional payment.Since then I have changed my payment method to check for future rent. I submitted the check per the instructions on their website and it still has not been cleared from my bank account after one month. During this time Ive tried reaching out to the member support team and have sent many e-mails without any more of a response then, I will forward this request to my billing/finance team. I still havent heard back - its a month! Does anyone work in the billing team or is that a robot too?!You can expect to receive poor quality and non responsive service from Common. They will avoid contact with any of their tenants by using an online portal. The emergency number does not even pickup the phone and if they do they will not help you with any of your billing concerns as it isnt their job. Common is only looking to make a dollar w/ no customer service and professionalism. Its best to stay away!
Moving can be stressful, but it doesnt have to be! Layne from the member support team has been great in assisting us in our move into our new home!
Common has been fantastic to work with. I specifically worked with Adrian surrounding all of my leasing needs. He was very professional, worked with me in a personalized manner, and jumped into my request immediately. Leasing is usually a stressful situation but Adrian made it a seamless, and most importantly, stress-free process!
OVERALL RATING: 2.5I joined Common in June 2020, for the first three months I got along good with my roommates and everything was great until one of my roommates decided to transfer out.In November 2020, the new roommate who replaced her attempted to attack me with a knife while insinuating that I touched the thermostat in the kitchen and trying to freeze her to death. The situation was escalating and thankfully another roommate walked in and she proceeded to berate him as well insinuating that he was the one who touched the thermostat. After this happened on Election Day of all days, the atmosphere completely changed in the whole apartment and we all avoided this person extensively. It felt like we were all walking on eggshells avoiding this person for the next two months.Literally 3 months later, a similar situation occurred but with the same roommate who walked in the first time. She proceeded to go absolutely ballistic and was threatening to physically assault my roommate who was a male. I heard the noise and I had to call 911 to report her, once the cops showed up she acted all normal. After this situation which caused me to have an anxiety attack this was the final straw.I decided not to renew my lease as there were several other issues with maintenance and repairs that were never completed and just other issues in general (like the sudden change in supplies for the apartment and the sudden in person tours without any notice).Honestly the only reason they got such a rating from me is because the property and member services team did a great job in ALWAYS responding to my messages. I would like to thank them all (Richard, Julie, Dillan, Sasha, Veronica, Monica of the Members team and Oscar from the Property team). At the end of the day, my takeaway is decide to move at your own risk. I didn’t know that there were other situations by others who experiences something similar. Be aware that you don’t know or choose who you live with so it’s all up in the air. Sometimes you might get a good draw but most times you won’t. Would be best for those who want to stay a short time but Common is suggesting longer leases now.
Shout out to Adrian for helping me find the perfect price and place for me. He is truly the Mj and kobe of the common team, 10 out of 10
AVOID AT ALL COST If I could give a 0 star review I WOULD. I was given an appointment for a tour and no one showed up. When I called after several unsuccessful attempts, their excuse was “oh I’m sorry on our end you have no appointment, best I can do is reschedule for another date” after making me come all the way to the building that’s their best excuse....If after a phone call and text message confirmation, they have “no appointment on their end” that should tell you something about their management quality. And the representative on the phone lied about this being the first time. I heard similar stories after. Apparently they also schedule tours without any information and just hang people out to dry.AVOID AT ALL COST
DC MONROE: The people who sign you up have never even see the building. No one in the management is easy to reach by phone. The maintenance team has no idea how to fix anything. When there are issues Common takes no ownership for it. We had a drunk homeless man sleeping on our lobby stairs yesterday morning. Our mail is constantly missing and common doesn’t care. We just had the 3rd leak. Water was leaking from my bathroom sink. Water was leaking from the first bedroom’s fire sprinkler and it hasn’t been fixed for 3 months. And this morning water was bursting from our light fixtures and ceiling over the kitchen. Turns out the maintenance man was responsible for it. They pressure you into signing a renewal lease halfway through your lease ending. They do not take ownership for their issues. They refuse to compensate you financially. Staff and management is incompetent. Don’t move in here. It’s not worth it, especially in the stress of pandemic.
Im currently living in a common apartment. I needed assistance with getting my ESA animal accepted. Julie from common guided me through the whole process. She was always quick to respond to questions and got the whole process completed in under 2 weeks. Im very happy with the service Julie gave me. It was very appreciated!
It was great living at common Clifton In D.C. their service is getting worse, not clifton building, only Common service. They provided weekly shared supplies as promised when i first signed the lease then now they significantly reduced both quality and quality of the products. Instead of weekly supplies, now they deliver monthly supplies. Paper towels and toilet papers are like from dollar tree store. They provided cheap laundry pods. They now supply worst liquid laundry detergent every three months, I feel like it’s just water and we ended up buying our tide laundry pods. They always deliver late. They didn’t deliver the supplies this month and no single word from them. I asked them to get reimbursement for the products we have to buy because they didn’t deliver it but they refused to give us money back and promised to deliver on time next month. REALLY!!!! I never trust them and won’t join them again.I been with JuneHomes and they provide similar service. bungalow is also good.If you don’t believe, check shared good section in membership agreement. They have right to refuse giving you shared supplies. BE CAREFUL!!! It is a trap in their membership agreement. Read it carefully before you decide to sign the lease.
We have lived in one of the private duplex units at Common - 595 Baltic St for nearly 3 years and have absolutely loved our home here. We are relocating due to a job opportunity, otherwise we would stay indefinitely! The building is clean and modern yet cozy and warm. The amenities are wonderful for the area - including elevator, package acceptance/storage, full gym, furnished roof top w/grill and two common areas great to hang out in or work. All of which we have used and loved often. With that, the greatest part of living here has been the people! David and Paul go above and beyond keeping the building beautiful and in tip-top shape and are so eager and helpful when you have anything maintenance related. And they never keep you waiting! And Connie - Connie is a ray of sunshine every day! She greets everyone with a warm and happy exuberance and really just makes this place feel like home. Common also does loads to help everyone meet and interact with their neighbors, tons of events (pre-Covid) and a dedicated app to interact with others in the building. Youre welcome to keep to yourself, but if you want to meet and socialize with your neighbors, Common is the place to live!We have really loved living at Common Baltic and would recommend the place for anyone looking for a great place to live!
I ADORE MY NEW APARTMENT!!!! I FINALLY live where I belong! In the middle of Downtown and Flagler Village. Manny and everyone on and off property have been a treasure to work with and I feel so grateful to have found Common Properties!!! Brooke and Roman off site are gems too!
My boyfriend and I have been living at the common for almost 3 months and we absolutely love it! We feel safe with the gated parking and package concierge. The suites are super cute and nicely decorated and the complex is always super clean. Everyone we have met here is so nice! We definitely recommend the Common Living!
Common Frankford is a joke.Moving into a new city with nothing, Common paints the picture very nicely, that they provide everything. But one thing they fail to mention is that the customer response time. No one ever answers emails. When you point it out, they send Julie, who is an absolute dream and seems to be carrying the whole Common weight on her shoulders.I made the mistake of signing a long, long term lease and my emails go unresponsive. I have already moved in and have no information about mail, cleaning schedule or anything else pertaining to the apartment. I was lucky to ask my roommate for the wifi password because Common cannot provide that.If you have an android device, forget about moving in. They use an app and apparently isnt compatible with android devices. If you get locked out of your apartment, you are SOL, because when you call the emergency line, a very rude lady will answer and say that you being locked out for the weekend isnt an emergency and need to wait for the building to open on Monday.
DONT live under common living . Literally the worse housing experience. I would give them 0 stars if I could. A company full liars who do not fulfill their promises but will be quick to take your money!!! I should have listened to the comments before moving in. The supplies are never restocked, furniture is not properly installed, and we were lied to time and time again! 0/5!
