I honestly could’ve received better dental care from a string attached to a door knob. The doctor was rude to me and combative and tried to rush me into signing on to an expensive, and unwarranted, procedure. Him and the nurse had plenty to say on the $800 payment I would need to give them, but when I asked why a root canal was necessary, after I had already seen another dentist who never even mentioned the idea, I couldn’t get a straight answer. Now I’m not saying they wanted to trick me into an extreme procedure because it would make them a lot of money, I’m just saying he seemed to miss the day where they went over the Hippocratic oath at DeVry University Online Dental School or wherever this excuse for a practice became accredited

Dentist was rude and aggressive. I explained my money situation being that Hurricane Ida had just occurred and all the dentist could say was we all have issues. You would think that would warrant some compassion and understanding. Instead all I got was rudeness and an aggressive attitude. Very unprofessional and very outdated!!!

Ive never been to a place where the doctor was beefing with the workers. Dentist numbed my mouth before even telling me what was going on. Wasnt allowed to bring anybody back to the rooms with me. Maybe try running thru the treatment plan before doing anything. Didnt give me a heads up before shoving the needle into my gums. A nice 1 2 3 count would of been great.and doctor got upset when I said I didnt want to go with his plan cause Im an out of towner. Overall had the worse experience ever in my 26 years of life. Please do better and treat your patients better.

ALERT!!! Scam artist! Would be patients beware!!! Visiting from out of town, and cracked a tooth. Ended up going to this would be dental practice, was charged up front before anything was said or done 125.00. They took a panoramic xray which they didnt even know how to do. They had to redo it several times? This wanna be dentist dr martin told me I needed root canals, fillings, etc, etc, etc. Then said he would give me prices for all the work I supposedly needed. Also yelled at his assistant to get me some mouth rinse. 125.00 dollars well spent!!! You would get better treatment at the dr howard, dr fine m, dr howard clinic. Zero stars here.

Great service and compassionate staff, especially the intern! I basically needed an emergency root canal and was in a lot of pain. Dr. Martin really helped me out! It was painless and he was quick with the operation.

I went to this dentist a while back to get a crown reattached. it was at 445 and it was an emergency and there was nowhere else I could go. I went to this dentist, they saw me within a half an hour and reattached it. from then on I have been going to this dentist for all my dental needs. the staff is friendly, the service is excellent and I recommend anyone looking for a dentist in the area use this dentist.

If I could give Dr. Ambrose Martin III and Gentilly Family Dental 0 stars I would. Their equipment is broken and I had to swallow my own blood and bits of teeth, or else spit them out in the parking lot after the procedure was finished. When Dr. Ambrose was done with working on me, he instructed his assistant to make the room ready at which time she wiped the tools which had been in my mouth with a bleach wipe for the next customer. I would not recommend going to Dr. Ambrose, even after this pandemic, I would continue not to trust Gentilly Family Dental.

The Dental assistant I had was PHENOMENAL! I’m pretty sure her name was Ryiana. My whole experience was great, but she took my comfort to the next level. I appreciate the staff at Gentilly Family Dental. I have been a patient for many years from cleanings to root canal. Dr. Martinis straight forward and to the point. He has always explained to me what was going on with my plan of care. He and his staff made sure I was well informed about my options before making a decision. I am terrified of needles...especially in my mouth. Dr. Martin took every measure possible to make sure I was comfortable and at ease throughout my procedure. Thank you Gentilly Family Dental for working with me when i needed to reschedule, and making sure i was as comfortable as can be at 30 week pregnant! The receptionist was great with getting me a same day appointment even with me living 30 minutes away! The assistants are friendly continually checking on me during my wait and in between holding conversations! Dr. Martin is awesome i definitely recommend going see him! And the lady who cleaned my teeth was very thorough and did an amazing job! Such a welcoming atmosphere

This doctor is horrible, I wouldn’t recommend him to my worst enemy. I took my mother to have two tooth pulled and when we got there he pulled my mother two front teeth out without offering her any other options. At the time of pulling my mother was feeling everything he was doing, she was crying, screaming, and even hitting him til he finally stopped and asked her why she’s acting in such that matter. My mom then told him she feel everything but he still continued to pull the two teeth out. After he was done torturing my mom he told her to go sit outside because he didn’t want the other patients to see her crying. They need to close this place down. No kind of comfort or care for the patients pain. This place is dirty and needs to be updated if not shut down. I’m calling the board of dentistry and the Better Business Bureau in the morning.

The physician is very rude,arrogant, very nasty attitude, he and his staff slaves the interns and talk to them like their nothing and he definitely doesnt interact nor does he have any empathy for the person thats going through pain. Had an abscess and in so much pain. The clinic so me on same day. The doctor was very kind and gentle they drained my abscess and extracted my tooth. The whole staff was very helpful.

I should have walked out after witnessing Dr. Martins interactions with his staff. He was so rude and condescending to them, I was embarrassed for them. The actual dental office is dirty and looks to be in bad need of updates and repairs. Dr. Martin has terrible bedside manner and never made me feel like I was in good hands. I had a tooth extracted and it was so painful. It is now 4 days later and the extraction site is swollen and infected. I returned to the office to be told by Dr. Martin that I rinsed too much, and when I said I did exactly as told, he told me I didnt rinse enough. So, basically, his shoddy work resulting in infection is my fault. Now he has referred me to a specialist to fix the mistakes he supposedly didnt make. I wish I had followed my first mind and left when my gut told me to leave, or that I had looked him up on google before going to see him. SAVE YOURSELF TIME, MONEY, AND PAIN! SEE SOMEONE ELSE!

Dr Martin is very caring and pays attention to the needs of his patients. He can be a little demanding while he has your mouth open but he takes his work seriously and wants good results the first time. Im glad I have chosen him for my dentist. I love him and his staff. Thats saying a lot since I have severe dental anxiety but they have helped me work past it.

I came into New Orleans from Indiana to celebrate my son’s birthday today. I had the most excruciating pain in my tooth during the drive that would’ve ruined our whole trip. We got to our hotel and my fiancé called the emergency line. They called us back immediately and were so accommodating. We went in within an hour and a half, and Dr. Martin and Anise (I think that was her name!) were absolutely outstanding. The problem was worse than we’d thought, but they gave me options to take care of it and made sure I was informed of what actions I could take, and I’m pain-free and ready to finish this vacation. Thank you for saving my son’s birthday trip!

I wish could honestly give this a zero star rating if possible I would. I applied for the front desk position but for some reason they had already had someone working full time at the front desk so I was asked to train in the back as a dental assistant knowing I had zero experience working as a dental, I was a bit concerned but Dr. Martin assured me he would give me the training I needed to learn what I needed to know I was excited at first until, I started realizing how impatient, and rude he could be when things werent going accordingly but I shouldve noticed the red flags when the girl who was training me my first day told me she didnt like her job assisting him and that I would soon learn why, she did a no call no show my second day there. I started assisting doctor Martin and he would constantly get irritated with me if I would ask him a question in front of a patient, cause he expect me to know it all my eight days of working with him, I was told that a McDonalds employ can assistant him and know everything in 8 days working with him, Ive watched him shove mouth props in the patients mouth knowingly they shouldve had a smaller one placed in their mouth, Ive also watched him hold the oxygen and nitrogen over a patient nose to get them to calm down. Dr. Martin is very horrible person to work for I would not recommend anyone applies to work with for him or receive treatment for him he does not care about his staff or his patients.

So I was tight on money and they were willing to work with me so I made an appointment. I walked out crying due to the pain I was in. I have a high tolerance for pain and have NEVER left a dentist office in pain just discomfort. I took 2 hours past my appointment time for me to be seen. He is very rude and impatient with the employees there. He was rough with my mouth pulling and tugging never asking me if I felt ok. I was cringing and jumping he never stopped until I pulled my face away. Hey told me I needed deep cleaning root canals and cleaning. When I told him I didn’t have the funds for that right now he told me I need to find it. Fair to say tthhhhee WORST dentist in Louisiana. The one star is a compliment

I had to have my wisdom teeth removed emergency oral surgery and if anyone knows me I have severe anxiety Ill wait and suffer before going well I found Dr. Ambrose and his AMAZING staff and they made me sooooo comfortable and I did not feel a thing not even the pressure from the nerve not the pulling nothing and not to mention the most gentle dentist I have ever met and didnt even feel the stitches being removed and not to mention he gave me gas to relax me and the gas never ever worked on me before but it did this time and held it for me so i could relax and took his time so I was calm and lastly he was super quick It took a whole 5 maybe 6 minutes and done HIGHLY RECOMMENDED will be back most definitely.

Dr. Martin is great. I had wisdom teeth extracted. I did not feel anything during the procedure. My healing process was great with no pain.

Had a fine experience but not really any work done. Had a temporary crown pop off while I was there for the weekend. They saw me within an hour of it happening (7pm on a Saturday) He cemented it back on an I was on my in about 30 min.

Horrible experience- was already frightened of dentists and went to finally get checked out- said I had 9 cavities!! did 4 fillings on one side and told me to schedule another visit for the other 5!! It was abrupt, painful, and insensitive work. I didnt schedule a second appointment and was even more terrified of the dentist since! 3 years later I finally went to Louisiana Dental Center because I knew I was being irresponsible and I apparently had 5 untended cavities for the last 3 years...In FACT I only had 1 small cavity that didnt need a filling just regular flossing, and the only thing really wrong was a janky filling I had gotten from Gentilly Family Dental which fell out as soon as they started poking around my mouth! Makes me wonder about the other 3 they gave me, potentially unnecessary.These scammers will drill out your teeth for your insurance money-!!!--!!--!! beware!

This a nice dentist to come to they help your teeths get clean nice and cute they also help you with your payment when you short they work things out with you and i love it... Look, I understand that Mardi Gras is a celebration for the whole city and everyone wants to be off work and out enjoying themselves. However, a night knowingly filled with drunken debauchery is EXACTLY when incidents involving chipped/broken teeth would/will occur. Nights like this are when a 24/7 dental clinic (the only one anywhere near according to google) SHOULD be open. So when your friend who’s front tooth gets Cracked in half because of some drunk moron who chucked giant Mardi Gras beads at his face NEEDS an emergency clinic, y’all should have been available. It’s irresponsible to be a 24/7 emergency clinic who on a day that is notorious for accidents closes their doors. Come on!

I didnt even get the chance to go in. I called about an emergency tooth extraction and Dr.Martin was extremely rude that I had to hang up on him. He was not very kind or helpful and also overly pushy. I read the reviews after I called and I kinda wish I wouldnt have even answered the phone.

There was no better place for them, and Im glad I chose them. 😁

It is complicated to review a dentist, and this is my experience. Although the staff is very personable at first I thought Dr Martin as quite competent, I had to go see another dentist while traveling because of shooting pain under a filling that Dr Martin had done just a month prior. The dentist I went to is in the Boston area, and has been used by my parents for 20+ years, after he looked at the X-ray where the pain was, he said this is some of the worst dental work Ive seen in quite some time. I highly advise you to seek out another dentist. The problem with the filling is that there was a clear overhang where it met the tooth, where it should be flush, which creates a food trap right at the gum line. Of the crown which I had installed by Dr Martin earlier that same year, the new dentist said it looks like a a hat that is 5 times too big for the head. I also have a problem with their billing dept - they sent me a bill me after the fact for $600, when they said I was already paid up in full for the crown. I would not trust this dentist.

Dr.martin is a money grabbing fraud my insurance only pay for routine dental cleaning, but i need peridonal cleaning why not let the insurance pay for the routine cleaning and i pay the difference, but he make you pay for the whole thing which makes me not get my regular cleanings there are some other stories i could about his prices but i rather not. I visited for a tooth extraction, which turn into a cleaning, extraction and a filling all at one time. The pain after the extraction continued for days, I returned to him, he said it was a dry socket,. The next day the pain continued, I returned to the office, xray showed the tooth next to the tooth that was extracted was chip, the nerve was exposed. He did a root canal without telling me, I learned this from assistant.I have never in my life experience a dentist like this man before!!!!!!, Im still experiencing pain and i will not return to him!!!!

Save yourself the hassle, even in times of emergency this is your last last last last resort.

The staff extremely friendly. The doctor is demanding with his staff, sometimes does not communicate effectively with them. The doctors treatment was fine. The procedure was very painful, there was no tact or delicacy from the doctor. I use a lot of force even though I complained and shouted it was just as tough. He made me a root channel.
