Excellent . You get out of it what you put into it, the Donelson Y has everything a person needs to achieve a healthy body !
It’s sad for a YMCA this big to not have Jacuzzi.I will update my review once you guys get one.
Great facility. Very clean, and helpful staff. We were visiting from out of state and had no issues using our local membership.
There is not another place to work out and enjoy being safe and sanitized at the same time. That is why I say. ITS ALWAYS A GREAT DAY AT THE Y. Thanks for the chance to share my experience at THE DONELSON Y !!!!!!!
The staff is very friendly and helpful. The classes are fun.
Covid protection every gym, salon, massage spa or any business that you have to share equipment with should implement was on point! Temp checks, personal bottle of cleaning spray, personal cleaning towel, instructions to wipe down machine before and after etc made me feel safe. I was very impressed and wish I hadn’t waited so long to return to working out.
We utilize Y-Play (child care) several times a week and the staff is a wonderfully caring group.
Very friendly.I love everything about the Donelson Y, the staff are so friendly. They asked me for my name and since then they call me by my name when I walk around the facility. When it comes to the group classes the instructors have assisted me in becoming more familiar with the class and expectations.
I look forward to going to this YMCA a few times a week for yoga and other times to get a cardio workout. I can’t say enough about it. The people are kind and professional and there’s just a jovial kind of atmosphere that makes my day.
Great gym with smaller crowds, friendly people, and good equipment.
Comparing to other ymca danoldson staffs are the worst of all.
Worst ymca within a 60 mile radius.
I love YMCA, during this pandemic they are keep remine open, we really appreciate there hard work and professional behavior in this covid-19 time.
Great facility and helpful staff!
That staff are always so friendly and welcoming. I was hesitant to return during covid however, I feel exceptionally safe with all of the safety measures and precautions that the YMCA has put in place. Thank you!
Clean and well-maintained facility with courteous staff.
Love the friendly staff and all the classes. Swimming and H2O aerobics are my favorite
The gym is very clean and looks very modern/cutting edge. It has ample equipment for me to complete my planned workouts. The machines are all in great shape and look new. The locker room/shower area was also very well kept and I didnt feel apprehensive about using it like I have with some other gyms. Great spot!
The YMCA is an awesome place to help you maintain good health... while at the same time, develop good lifelong friendships. It is like going to church... with good Christian fellowship. The employees there, care for you like they do their own family members. I love my YMCA! 😄JeffMount Juliet, TN
You have the best Y play hours around. The Y Play includes a playground. The swimming facilities are top notch for my daughter AND me. Love the work space where I can send a few emails and get a coffee. We have yet to even explore the Track and soccer field and all the other amenities.
I love this YMCA! It is so close to home and the 7:00pm yoga classes are a life saver when you work at a desk all day in downtown and cant make it to any early classes. The instructors are always amazing and the people at the front desk are always so friendly and greet you with a smile.
I love everything about the Donelson YMCA! These are my people! There are so many options to choose from for working out. I love the pool, the classes, the instructors & personal trainers. Everyone takes such pride in what they do. The place is so nice, clean & spacious. Most of all..I love the warm, friendly environment. I always feel welcome!
Great group classes, sense of community, spaces kept clean.
I love this YMCA.We have visited TONS of gyms around Donelson/Hermitage area. You may save money, but you wont save on equipment, cleanliness, or staff care. The y has staff constantly cleaning and inspecting machines. As soon as there is a rip, benches are fixed. It just feels good to have a gym you feel is taken care of and wont give me a rash from using.
I like that its not too crowded and doesnt feel intimidating. The outdoor pools are really nice and fun. My daughter has a great time at Y Play, which is very important to me. I didnt go to the gym for a few years after she was born because she used to be very shy and didnt like new environments. She has outgrown that and I know I can drop her off in a fun and safe environment while I get back to exercising. She is also in swim lessons and the instructors are so sweet and gentle with the kids.
Great location, friendly staff. Outdoor pool is great for the kids. Gym facilities have everything I need without overcrowding or pretentiousness. Perfect fit for me and my family.
Moved here from Texas and needed a place to go. Wonderful YMCA with a very friendly staff. Equipment is in good working order. We are glad we joined.
Positive environment where all feel welcome.
I love the classes at the Y! The people who come week after week become your friends and keep you motivated to keep coming yourself! We are also blessed with a well rounded Y with plenty of machines and free weights, classes, a daycare, and indoor pool and outdoor pool, basketball court and soccer fields! Anything you want to do is there!
This is my daily workout spot, and I can recommend it, especially in the morning. The staff here are friendly and helpful - always wishing the regulars by name. They recently upgraded, so there are modern machines, new free weights and only the occasional cross-fitter!Theyre currently working on expanding the parking lot, and with access to the Nashville Greenway system, this place cant be beat!
Great place to workout out and dunk on some kids in the gym!
Everyone is always friendly and happy. And I am there almost every day of the week from basketball for cardio to the weight machines for strength training. And one small thing is how nice it is to drink from a water fountain that has a free just cleaned aroma. it is the little things that go a long way.
Staff is friendly and the pool area is great. I appreciate that the kiddie pool area is separate and gated. It makes taking kids with various ages and swim levels a little easier on the parent.
We just moved and we were hoping to find a YMCA that compared to our last one in San Diego. We were not disappointed! In fact, it has more features we were missing at the other one we used to attend. This YMCA is serious about the C in their name. They have a box for prayer requests and a bible in the lobby. Theyve got an area where families can come enjoy some coffee or tea and bring some food to enjoy a meal together. Forgive me as I dont know the correct terminology but I believe my husband calls them bumper weights (?) -- theyve got those too! My husband was stoked about that. Overall, were impressed and really happy to be members.
The amenities and staff are amazing! Especially Vanessa, Joana, Ray, Shelby, and Teresa!! I have my own Y family and I love it. Best decision I’ve made since moving to Nashville.
Try the water aerobics classes with Jean Chesney. They are awesome and you will get a great workout. The staff is always helpful and pleasant. Theres a good selection of classes and equipment.
I love the water aerobics and the yoga classes. The staff is very friendly and helpful when you have questions. Ive been coming for a long time and have always loved the variety of classes.
Great people. Lots of equipment and classes. Sauna, pool, it’s a great place.
Great place where my whole family can get into fitness together! So much to do and they even give you a fitness test and make you a workout plan to follow so its not overwhelming, when you go in, you have your own personal goal. The classes are fun and the facility is very nice, locker rooms are clean and lovely! Love it!
Friendly, clean, equipment always working properly
Friendly staff, large, clean, well lit facility. Good selection of exercise equipment, weights, stationary bikes, low-stress cardio machines, treadmills. Easy access to the Greenway. Outdoor eighth-mile track. Great sauna and steam room. Large pools (indoor and outdoor). Lots of parking. Easy access to I-40. Signal light at entrance to parking lot.
The staff are well-trained and go out of their way to help everyone. The renovated facility is very nice, but I wish it was half again bigger. I live closer to two other YMCAs, but I drive 25 minutes each way to go to the Donelson Y, because their Silver Sneaker classes are SO much better.
I visited here twice while vacationing from St. Louis. It is a large, clean facility with up to date machines. I had no problem getting on any of the cardio or weight equipment on rainy Saturday and Sunday mornings.
Great gym. Free coffee for after your workout! Thats my favorite part. :)
Awesome facility with friendly staff, but they don’t have any sweat towels, which is ridiculous for a facility of its size that gets extremely warm during the day.
I LOVE the facilities, but if you are joining for the pool dont bother. They are crazy strict on kids wearing life vests. My son has been in lessons for 3 years & was forced to wear a lifevest. He hated being there. He likes to practice swimming. Their pools are mainly for toddlers or adults. If u have kids 6-12 yrs., dont bother with joining for the pool. They wont even have friends there to play with because I think everyone has caught on.
Great YMCA for the family. Also well designed and it keeps getting better.
Love the Donelson Y. I take 3 classes a week. AOA, Zumba Gold, and chair Yoga.
I really like that YPlay is available to my 3 year old and he enjoys going to it to play with friends. My 11 year old has completed a class in order to use some of the exercise equipment and I have been having him accompany me while I exercise. I have made a couple of new Y friends and run into some acquaintances that I know from other organizations, which is kind of cool because it shows me that we value similar things i.e. healthy lifestyle and family so maybe in the future we can find other things for our families to spend time doing together!
I love this place. I live in St Louis but come to visit my mother. Any time Im in town I come here to work out. The classes are fun if you are open minded and get in to the class.
Knowledgeable, helpful, friendly staffImmaculately clean facilityHuge workout room and wellness centerMany diverse activities for ALL ages
HORRIBLE STAFF!! Extremely rude as well. I signed up for a membership again after living out west for a decade. I went to the YMCA for my first workout with my buddy today. We had been working out for almost an hour then a staff member literally stepped in front of me while I was doing a set to tell me that I had to leave the gym immediately because I had worn flip flops. The guy could’ve waited until I had completed my set, but he thought it was the best approach to step in front of me to prevent me from working out any longer. I’ve literally been working out for two decade and I’ve never had an encounter like this in my entire life. I immediately walked to the front and canceled by membership. There are a lot of options for gyms in the Middle TN area. I would suggest anyone looking to becoming a member at the YMCA to think twice about it regardless if they have child care or if it’s close to your house.
I am a very quiet person, but even i like to talk once in a while. i find that everyone is friendly.
Awesome, clean, all the equipment you would ever want. Awesome gym!
Clean, well staffed and lots of exercise equipment. Great place to exercise.
It’s a nice facility, but having to many members is becoming a problem. Just because you make the parking lot bigger doesn’t mean the facility can hold more people. Not being able to work out, or having to wait is a problem. It might as well be planet fitness. At this rate I will be looking for another gym
The facilities are clean, but as previously described, if youre joining for the pool facilities dont bother--they are unrealistically strict on pool rules to the point that it can undo any training life-saving swim classes have taught. Both my children were practicing their floating on either side of me and I was informed that one of them would have to wear a life jacket unless theyve passed their so called swim test. Their swim test is 25 yards non-stop, with no breaks, which is ridiculous considering that every swim program that truly cares about a childs ability to save themselves encourages the child to roll-over and float if they get tired or out of breath. If you want to walk on a treadmill, or have older kids, this place is okay, bit if you want to practice swimming or just swim with your kids, go somewhere else.
The facility is immaculate! My fiancé and I are members at the YMCA out of state, and Rachel at the front desk was so accommodating AND not to mention it was on Christmas Eve! I was so impressed by the cheerful staff despite having to work on a holiday! Thank you for such a positive and convenient experience!!!
Joined 2 years ago. Love it. The renevation is beautiful. The facility has something for everyone of all ages. Very clean and well run.
Always clean, never over crowded, and super friendly staff. Keep it up, Donelson YMCA!
Horrible place find another place, bad management! Charging seniors the Y is not the place, they pick who can join discrimination!
We have loved our first Y experience! The staff are very friendly. It is a clean facility!!
Very nice staff, I highly recommend a wellness consultation for the beginners!
I think this place is very clean and nice staff great place to get healthy .I also think the adult pool should be open between 10am and 3pm for the adults to be able to sun while the kids are back in school i cant believe they clouse it to the the adults between 10am and 3pm
Helpful employees. There needs to be higher lounge chairs around the outdoor pool for the elderly and those with disabilities that cannot sit in the low chairs.
I have had the worst experiences here repeatedly. I formerly uses the YMCA on Harding until it closed, to enroll my children in activities. They shut down and Donalson was our closest. We enrolled our kids in sovver and the cost drastically higher! We spent 35.00 for the season and uniform and here it was 129.00 for the season and uniform. The schedules repeatedly changed and there was no communication. There were no bathrooms at 1 location for games for small children thats awful and The 1 at The main location was spool far from The fields children couldnt hold it and elderly would have trouble to get up The hill to it. When i tried to walk my small child in to use the one inside because it was closest they said we wernt members and we needed to leave and go outside across The entire building and back up The hill..4 people! They are very cruel cold people here! The staff was absent and it was far from Christian based the way we were treated by staff members. When you speak to management nothing is done. I wouldnt recommend this to anyone
Well run. Lots of options.
Great staff and helpful. I love the indoor pool
The new locker rooms are great and the indoor pool is wonderful!
People are rude here. Especially the manager! Everytime I come, he follows me and when I looks back,he acts like he is doing something else! Horrible
I LOVE THE Y!
They made me pay 20 dollars to play basketball then when I left they said they had a quest pass for 15$
Very family oriented !
Great atmosphere!! Nice people!!
Great place very clean
Always same, smile when i come in, clean, weights and machines always working
Great organization!
Wonderful experience
It was great
AWESOME🌹
