Starting with Eric, who came in to analyze the existing system and recommend what should be installed, and give me the quote, to guys who installed the system are great to work with. They did a wonderful job. They were very professional yet friendly. Eric gave me a couple of options, educated me about the discounts I can get with Duke Energy and Piedmont Natural Gas if I go with the better and energy efficient system. He answered any questions I had before and after committing to them. The guys who came first did a great job but ran into an issue with the furnace. Jake came in the next day to get it to work quickly. They are confident of their work, so they want to get the inspections done on installations, which is great. Great customer service from Lindsey from the office too. I have set up maintenance contract for my other two older systems too. No wonder I see so many 5 star ratings for this company.

Have 5 HVAC systems installed in 2006. It was determined one of the units had a leak that could not be repaired and required replacement. I talked to a number of contractors and selected 3 for bids. Penguin stood out as a firm that not only didnt try to sell me, but thoroughly educated me on the options and process. I expected them to come in on the higher side, but were actually also the best value. The night before installation, I had to change the appointment and they were still able to come the same day, just later than originally planned. The techs that came out were professional and very respectful of our property, both inside and out. Slightly more than two hours after commencing, we had cool air back in the rooms this unit serviced. I highly recommend Penguin and will plan on using them in the future as well.

Great first experience with Penguin Air. My tech, Jake, was courteous, on time, and professional. He even tolerated our dog asking for belly rubs. We did a HVAC maintenance plan so he checked and cleaned AC unit inside and outside and offered recommendations but wasnt pushy trying to upsell. Would highly recommend.

Penguin came out to repair a very old unit and after looking at it we came to the conclusion it was dead. They proceeded to sell me a very good unit at the best cost and installed it promptly and have maintained it since. A year later we had an issue and they sent a tech out on an hours notice in the busiest time of the year and fixed it immediately. This is the type of company you want to work with.

We enjoy our new system as it is a huge upgrade from the one we had however I would have rated more stars if the teams overall communication was better. My husband and I were each told different things when it came to install time, scheduling inspections, etc. I can’t say whether or not we would recommend this company to our friends and family at this time as we are still waiting for a final (unexpected) inspection.

Gotta give these guys a shoutout, my condenser was frozen up, they came out on a Sunday and had my system blowing hard and cold within a couple of hours. Jacob Poole was the technician and was very polite and honest, also didnt mind answering my husbands zillion questions about preventive maintenance.

100% recommend this company for heating and cooling needs. We have had to call them for both, and both times they came out the SAME day and made sure we were set. The first time was with blistering hot weather over the summer and they helped us out. This time we had a warranty on our home and used the company sent by the warranty, only to have Penguin come out and fix the other companys mess up and had left us with no heat. We called Penguin again knowing that we are expecting significantly cold weather and snow. Penguin came out the same day again and made sure everything was in proper working order. I had a great experience with Penguin. My initial call was a very friendly exchange and they got a technician scheduled to come out right way. Thats invaluable when your house is 90 degrees. I really trusted Mike to get the job done and not try to sell me any unnecessary services. I like that I was sent a picture of the technician before he arrived so I wasnt just inviting anyone into my house (thanks, true crime podcasts, for making me so skittish about people coming into my home). My only confusion is that I was charged a diagnostic fee even though I had a repair over $200, which I thought the website said would be waived. That promotion may have started after I had my service though. I just noticed it. Anyway, I will definitely use them again when the need arises! Last January (2016) we were hunkering down and getting ready for the snow. In the middle of the night we woke up realizing how cold it was in the house. I did a search and found Penguin Air and they came out and made a run at making my old Gas Pack work. They got it up and running and stayed with it for a few days until we realized there was no use. The smarter thing to do was get a new Trane. and Randy worked on my problem as if I were the only customer. Great service, great responsiveness. I will stick with them from here forward for my HVAC needs here at the Ranch.....

I called Penguin Air for AC service, they came out immediately, fixed the problem I was very happy with there service.

** BEWARE ** ~ Penguin Air came to our home to evaluate our AC which was not operational. They did come the same day for about 15 minutes and said they would need to come back. Yes, you heard me right. We had the pleasure of sleeping all night in a house with no AC. They were back first thing the next morning and did diagnostic testing for about an hour or so. The technician made recommendations but said I would need to discuss it with Kristen in the office. They left yet again - who does that? Upon their 3rd and final visit, their recommendations had changed. Why, I am not sure? Honestly, in hine sight.... I shouldve gone with my gut and called for a second opinion so that is my fault in this fiasco. But when you are melting from extreme heat....you really just want AC and I had already come this far, right? We paid in excess of $500 to have the repairs they recommended performed. The AC was operational and was blowing cold air but I noticed that it seemed to be struggling ~ not operating as it should IMO. So I called the office - no answer so I left a message. Later the same day, I tried calling again - no answer again....I did not leave a message. Then I thought, how about trying to call from another number. It worked like a charm, Kristen answered on the second ring. How about that?? When I told her that our system seemed to be struggling, she said that she would have the owner call me. I asked her how long she thought that might be (as we were going into a long holiday weekend) she replied, Well, I am not going to drop what I am doing at the moment. I will have him call you later. OK...that was the first time anyone in a customer service industry had ever given such a response. You guessed it - now I am furious. To my surprise, the owner.... Randy, did call later that day shortly after 5 pm to tell me that he had discussed the diagnostics and repairs with the technician and that there was nothing else they could do. He asked me to call back if the system went out again. I guess so, Im thinking to myself wouldnt that be great to get another service call fee.Now here I am, 3 very short months later and my system has gone out again. UUUGGGHHHHH! Today it will be 97 degrees.The moral of my long but accurate depiction of the story here is ~ DO NOT CALL Penguin Air. IMO they are a low budget operation and are not just lacking in the customer service department (thanks Kristen) but also lack the necessary skills to repair the unit properly and quite frankly do not care as they move on to the next unsuspecting individual. But rest assured, you can always call back and pay additional fees to have them return and put an incompetent band aid on the problem. NOT!
