You would think that a company whose focus is managing affordable housing, would care for the residents living in their communities. But, it is evident that most of the higher-ups in the company could care less about the residents they are supposed to serve. It seems evident, from our experience at their Utah properties, that those at Summit Housing (owners of the properties, and owners of Highland Prop Management) only care about getting the tax credit benefits from the communities they develop. The staff on the ground, at the properties, are not encouraged by Summit to be caring and supportive. When the tone is set by Summit, Highland staff have to follow suite. Yes, the communities are nice, but the management tone could use a lot of improvement. There is probably a reason why they took their corporate phone number off of their website, and now just list a HPMcares email address. Too many calling with complaints? Dont want to talk to people? That says a lot.
I suggest from personal experience carefully considering signing a lease with Highland Property Management. We lived there for two years and experienced several safety issues. Wyoming ranks 50 in the nation for zero protection of the little guy in landlord/tenant laws. I wrote this review because if I was interested in renting I would want to know what I am truthfully sharing with you today.
Wish we could give them a negative 10 score. We have a family member who lives at Ball Park Apartments in Salt Lake City, Utah. Highland has gone through six property managers in the past year. From what we hear from these property managers, Highland corporate staff is impossible to work with, so these managers walk out. The same goes for the maint staff, no one stays for more than a couple of months. This leaves the residents in limbo, without someone on site. Complaints sent in via Highlands HPM cares emails are met with vague responses and excuses.Get your act together Highand and Summit! Or, get another, more experienced company to manage the property.
Management here is a joke, check around and youll hear nothing but negative about this place. Illegal eviction procedures, rules made up that arent in the lease, harassment about non issues, etc. Management is a nightmare, dont rent here.Follow up from Highland management response.I did not have a service dog when I moved in. I have PTSD from an extremely abusive relationship so about a week or two after moving in I had the opportunity to get one from a friend. Very well mannered, quiet, never caused a single issue. I also had my boyfriend visit from time to time as he was not on the lease so could not be there too often. I received an illegal eviction notice personally insulting me saying the dog was not mine and I knew I was going to get her but lied about it and not approved although I had all the paperwork required, in my name, along with approval from the manager with her signature on paper. Was also told my boyfriend was not allowed on the premises as she assumed incorrectly he was living there. I even called the main manager and was told I still was being evicted and nothing would change that. This is a blatant violation of Montana tenant landlord act. They gave me a month to move out. I pointed out that it was illegal to evict someone if the issues are fixable and they do not happen again, depending on the offense of course but it’s not like I was running a meth lab or something.....Easily found info on google. However since her grounds for eviction were complete lies I could not correct them. I even offered to get rid of the dog and not have my boyfriend over but they flat out refused. These people know they rent to low income families so to fight these issues would require a lawyer and I simply could not afford that. Upon final inspection they acted extremely surprised that the unit was spotless. Even sent me a note saying thanks for doing such a great job cleaning. Do not rent from them. Absolute worst rental experience I’ve ever had. Actually the only bad rental experience I’ve ever had.
They are the worse people to rent from. Will not work with you.
Fantastic low income housing
