Ive lived in a Matcom Property for almost 2 years and have been very happy. The property manager Matt and the maintenance guy are very kind and professional. Theyre quick to respond to my phone calls or emails and are good at keeping me informed. Theres a reason I didnt hesitate to renew my lease!
MATCOM as a whole was great to work with but my individual landlord was not good at all. They seemed to have not really cared about any issues and rarely responded to my emails and overall just was lousy. Maintenance was stellar though and were very quick!
I have been very pleased with my experience with Matcom! Besides the apartment being in the ideal location and price, the employees has been very friendly. Any maintenance issues were responded to quickly and efficiently. They have really made our experience pleasant! I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a place!
I was in a pinch to find a place fast and luckily I stumbled on Matcom. Matt B set me up with an apartment on my first meeting. Not only is the apt nice but it is very affordable. Their customer service is excellent and I appreciate the extra effort they put in to make the building look nice with someone who manages the landscaping during the summer
Knowledgeable and professional. Response is quick. MATCOM goes the extra mile.
The management here was really good, Ive lived in 2 Matcom managed buildings and both times theyve been very attentive and responsive to maintenance issues and other questions. Parking lots have been plowed routinely during winter and sidewalks and steps have been shoveled. Out of all the property management companies Ive dealt with over the years they have been the best by far. Overall great experience, I highly recommend renting with Matcom.
Ive been renting for about a year and have had a great experience so far. I really like my building and my particular location in Lowery Hill perfect. I have all the amenities I need (onsite washer/dryer, dishwasher, hardwood floors...) and the rent is very reasonable and affordable considering how much space I have. The building I live in is old, so understandably things go wrong every now and again but Matcom has a great crew of people on staff who show up when you tell them about a problem. This past winter I had some leaks through the ceiling (annoying, but that happens). I emailed the contact about it and no more than an hour later someone was at my door taking care of it...on a weekend. When the guys come in to fix things, they are respectful of my belongings and clean up after themselves. Its like they were never there (except for a friendly note explaining what they did). Its been great to have a management company who knows what theyre doing, take care of issues when they arise, and are respectful of their renters.
Matcom was everything I wanted in an apartment management company. Consistent, responsible, and kind. Whenever a maintenance issue came up Matcom was quick to reply and someone was sent to my apartment within a day to resolve the issue. In my two years living under Matcom management I never had any issues. My manager, Matt Brandes, seemed to go above and beyond to make sure us tenants knew of any important dates regarding our lease and always replied to emails promptly. I highly recommend Matcom to anyone who wants an informed, hardworking, and friendly management company.
Be cautious. Ive lived in many cities with many property managements operating my apartments. This is the most shark-like one I have come across. The units look nice as they are mostly new, but thats where the positives stop.Do not expect anyone to genuinely be helpful or care. This is one company where you must watch your back. Carbon Monoxide detector was going off and called them about it. They said it must be malfunctioning. Come to find out, it wasnt as there was a gas powered power machine being used in the commercial space below. My room keys could not be copied as I went to three specialty locksmiths and the locksmiths said it was the best they could do. Asked Matcom if they could make me a spare and they simply said no.Had my bike stolen from within a locked storage unit in the basement. Conclusion: If you have another place in mind, take heed.
I lived at a Matcom property for my 5th year at UMN. Matcom was by far the best property management company I rented through. Matt, my property manager was great and always responded to concerns and questions within 24 hrs via phone or email. Every maintenance request was answered in a timely matter via personal email (not just a robot response) and they would often email to check in a week or two later to make sure the issue had been resolved. I always felt comfortable and safe at the property. Finally, they give you a warning about the security deposit, they do a pre walk through and tell you want to look out for. We cleaned everything except the oven and that’s all they charged us for. We got 90% of our deposit back! If I needed to live cheap near the U again I would definitely rent through Matcom
I wouldnt recommend living here. The apartment is POORLY insulated. Most tenants pay more than $300 for electricity for a 3BR during winter but when you tour the place, Matt will tell you that electricity bills are around $100-150. I talked to my neighbors and they all paid a lot during winter. My roommates and I keep the temperature around 60 or even less and we still pay a lot. So if you live here, dont be shocked when you see your electricity bills. Plus your apartment will be extremely cold during winter! My roommates and I are all professional students so we are normally gone during the day and just go back at night to sleep, so we dont use much electricity at all but we still pay a lot.The apartment was also dirty when we first moved in, so we had to spend the whole day cleaning everything. The laundry machines are a pain in the ass. The washing machine is fine but the dryer has to run 2-3 times to dry a load of clothes (and its not even a full load of clothes), so it normally takes the whole day doing laundry. And each load will cost you $1.25. We talked to Matcom about the laundry machines but nothing was fixed. The rent may be cheap. But when you add all the utility cost, its pretty expensive and not worth it.
Ive rented from Matcom for 5 years now at one of their uptown properties. Ive found them to be consistently professional and above all responsive. Plus as a bonus I can tell you that Ive had many great conversations with the staff because THEY ARE SO FRIENDLY!
Best quality-to-price apartments around the U. Responded reasonably well to maintenance requests, but locations were in great shape and very modern(80s-2000s) meaning lower heating bills. Locations are up to code(fire escapes and no over crowding). I never regretted renting from them for 2 years.
I have rented with Matcom for almost 3 years now and I highly recommend them as land lords. I only ever had a couple issues and maintenance would be here within 24 hours to fix the problem. They shovel the sidewalks and take care of the parking lots promptly. They maintain very good communication with tenants regarding anything going on at the property (if they will be painting, reminders for lease renewal time limits, etc) as well as sending out crime alerts if there were ever any in the area to make sure the tenants were aware. (Living near the U of M every fall got a bit sketchy, I assume with Frat doing hazing and what not in order to get into them). If I ever need to rent in Minneapolis again this is the first place I will look.
I really enjoyed my experience in the MATCOM property. The management was easy to work with, and the hardwood floors, antique built-in, large windows and excellent location sweetened the deal. Whenever I requested repair to the apartment, a MATCOM worker was on the task within 24 hours. The maintenance staff was very friendly, and made sure their visits worked with my schedule. The property manager was always clear and punctual in his communication, and always treated my concerns with respect and care. Great properties, great staff.
MatCom has managed our single family home in Minneapolis for 3 years and theyve been fantastic. Prompt. Friendly. Knowledgeable. From the occasional leaky faucet, to the routine snow removal, even the handrail our delivery guy broke (whoops!) - they had it covered. The maintenance workers are very respectful of our property. I was most impressed when our washer broke on a Monday, they inspected it on Tuesday, and we had a new unit Wednesday.
