Pros: Maintenance staff are amazing. Location is fun. Most of the security team is cool but one guy is terrible.Cons: They talk the talk about building community but are just another company banking too much money and not caring about their residents. Before signing a lease, know they dont allow subleases but offer an add on option. There is guest parking but dont be surprised if a car is in your reserved spot (they never call to get towed; you just park in a different spot).
Ranitha did a great job helping me! She should get a raise cuz of the job she did! Thank you!
Management is completely unhelpful. We have been experiencing issues for months with packages being stolen or misplaced. MULTIPLE TIMES we have talked on the phone and emailed at least 4 different members of the staff about our frustrations and safety concerns, but keep getting pushed off to talk to someone else because its not my department. We have just had our 9th package misplaced here, and we havent even lived here for a year. I paid extra money to ship it fast, need it so I can do my job, and now its gone and nobody seems to be concerned or apologetic that this has happened multiple times to us.While the location is okay, and the cost is affordable, I do NOT recommend living here!!! I could not emphasize this more. The apartments are old and their layouts are illogical. As a resident you will not be valued, your concerns wont be addressed, and staff will place blame on you (or throw each other under the bus) before theyll accept responsibility for their mistakes.Im disappointed that Ive had to take this to the public, but enough is enough.
Laurel village was awesome for the most part! The staff was very friendly every time I called and answered any questions. The only thing is the rooftop is not open very late when you want to enjoy it on the weekends and I did get a package stolen when they were all laying out in front of the mailboxes, they said they could not do anything about that when there were cameras right there. Besides that, I do recommend the apartment, great location and close to a ton of restaurants and bars!
Management has been great so far, but my place was FILTHY when I moved in. I found dog food and a ton of ants behind the stove, and the carpet reaked of dog urine and when I took a rag to it, the rag came up soaked in dirt. However, when I told management that I didn’t think the carpet was cleaned well, they were super accommodating and even replaced it for me. Their speed was really impressive, however, I’m super disappointed with how dirty the place was when I moved in. I’ve attached some photos of a pipe behind the toilet as just one example.
I lived here four years ago, after moving from Chicago, and management was garbage from day one. They are completely worthless. I ended up having to record calls with them as they would lie with what they would tell you. Make sure you get everything in writing, record calls and document the hell out of your apartment pre and post moving. Location is fantastic but the management made living here terrible. Pay attention to the negative reviews as they have truth and value to them.
Kenna from the leasing office helped me find a great apartment with a good view and price. She deserves a BIG raise. I’d like the gym to have a pull-up bar though...
I absolutely dislike going to look for apartments, especially in this crazy Covid world, everything just feels so distant not physically but emotionally. I stumbled onto Laurel Village, and I though the place was nice online and within my price range.Kenna contacted me, and she was absolutely awesome. She was quick to respond, personable, and easily accommodating. On the day, I was to tour some plans fell through and needed to come in early, and it was no problem. Kenna showed me 3 apartments all with their own charm. She was straight forward and the property was down right AMAZING for the price. I look forward to being a member of this community and seeing how it grows as we come back to a sense of normalcy.
I had lived there for a little over three years. The management office was very easy to work with. It usually took them less than two days to fix the issue. Every time I call the management office, they are always friendly and helpful. The rent is reasonable
I loved Laurel village, lived there for 5 years. But for the last few months, things changed. All of a sudden the place became a pot house where apartment used to stink of weed. So if you are a junky, this is your place. The frustrating thing was that management didnt want to do anything about it.
I recently toured with Ranitha. She was very helpful in sending me pictures and video tours of the units that I was interested in. I ended up touring and signing at Hennepin Crossing. I was in a time crunch to find a new place and Ranitha helped put me at ease by patiently answering all my questions and offering helpful suggestions. I found her to be well-informed, quite friendly and a great resource throughout the entire process! The apartment is in a great location - close to Brits, Lunds & Byerlys, Loring Park, and Target. I love my large walk-in closet and corner apartment views! The apartment also comes with a free storage locker which Ive used to store luggage, seasonal decor, etc.The updated appliances were a nice bonus too. Ive found the staff here to be really friendly and helpful (including the security and maintenance staff) which is such a nice change from my previous apartment complex.
I feel that living at Laurel Village has been a great experience.Leasing Staff:From the moment you walk in Mallory does a great job of making you feel at home. Ranitha, made the whole leasing process of finding the right apartment actually enjoyable and efficient. Which was huge, especially moving from California with my wife and dog.Management Staff:The whole management team has been really good about communicating changes and updates in the community. Whenever I had a maintenance issue, its always been addressed within 48hrs.Facilities:For the most part things are kept pretty clean and tidy. As with most apartments, no one can control everything, so sometimes I do find things left in communal spaces, but the custodial staff is really good about cleaning things up in a timely manner. They have some nice amenities, that definitely have enhanced the living experience. The unit itself is clean, spacious, and for the most part well designed and easy to navigate. But I understand every unit is different. I do wish there was a better system in place to receive packages.Location:There are a lot of restaurants and things to do within a 20 minute walking radius, and there is easy access to the highway.Community:I was pleasantly surprised with how diverse the Laurel Village community is, and how many people from all over there are. I also really enjoy the engagement and activities that they try to have with their residents.
I know when reading these reviews you always have to take them with a grain of salt, which I did, but it was a bad choice. It’s seems that every negative review has at least one similarity....management. Awful people to work with, give you the run around to make it sound like they care but overall goes no where. If you do decide to tour, ask every question you can think of and read your lease line by line before you sign.I hope this helps at least one of you, don’t let the location fool you, NOT WHERE YOU WANT TO LIVE.
My partner and I had a great tour with Serena! She was so incredibly helpful by showing us different units that fit our needs. Our move in process was a breeze and our apartment was very clean come move in day. She was great at communicating with us and answering any questions we had. The amenities, updated appliances and location are great for the price!
Kenna was so helpful and genuine with assisting me, she made my choice out of several other properties so efficient and smooth for my son and I.I’m so exciting to begin my stay at laurel village. I highly recommend!
Takes peoples money, to deny them to keep their money
I have just started living in the apartment and so far my experience has been wonderful. The staff has been extremely helpful and at the rate I find the apartment at that high floor a steal. Good and prompt communication was a delight.
Ive lived here for a little over a year and Ive loved it! The apartment is very nice and spacious with updated appliances. There have been really quick response times with maintenance whenever Ive needed anything fixed. The location is very nice as well. Im able to walk to a lot of places I frequent.
Ive lived at Laurel Village for nearly 3 years and in the last month Ive been truly disappointed by the response to maintenance issues. Two weekends ago, the a/c went out late Friday night and my apartment was HOT all weekend. Temperatures reached a high of 91 degrees on Sunday. I made several maintenance requests (twice on Saturday, once on Sunday, another on Monday), as did other residents. Maintenance came to check the apartment and attributed the problem to a boiler malfunction. On Monday I called the Management Office and told them that my apartment was still hot and I was actually sweating as I was taking conference calls. Managements response was that an outside contractor had been contacted to address the problem and the a/c would be fixed that afternoon or the latest by Tuesday morning. Im extremely disappointed because were in the middle of a pandemic and I had nowhere to escape the heat all weekend and no accommodation was offered by Management. The only response I got was sorry.Cons/Tradeoffs:-Older appliances-Older heating system; A/C and Heat run through same system. System has to be switched between seasons - usually takes about a weekPros:-Affordable rent rates (though there are nearby properties with comparable rates and newer appliances)-Across the street from a grocery store Lunds-Gym access-On a bus line
This place is so unprofessional. Would give 0 stars if possible. Would not recommend choosing this overpriced place to live especially when the staff are all so fake.
Scam these thieves stole my money and denied me
Best apartment living I’ve ever experienced. You can’t beat the location. You can’t beat the price. You can walk/bike everywhere. The maintenance comes right away if needed & the staff always answers the phone right away when you call.
Moving in the middle of a pandemic is not fun. I was anxious and asked Clarissa a copious amount of questions before moving day. She was so patient and even offered to answer my questions in writing so I could refer back to them. Now that I’m here and settled, this is the best place I’ve ever lived! I’m excited that the community events have been ramping back up. Mallory is such a fun bubbly face to see when I walk past the leasing office! She also is so knowledgeable when I need things clarified.I love the 24 hour security, and sky decks (thrilled to see Wilson Park Tower’s finishes product soon)Thanks LV for offering a clean and secure home!
Great communication, very friendly staff and really smooth process to move in.
I would give half a star if i could. To start, I was an employee working for this property and living there as well. Once the pandemic hit they were having all employees work under unsafe working conditions and pretty much dismissing any concerns relating to the pandemic and work safety. I myself became ill during this time and had to quit because the company was unwilling to give me temporary leave till they got their safety policies together. In addition, after being a good tenant and paying all my rent on time and in its full amount, they decide to charge me two months of rent after move out during a pandemic while I was unemployed. All this property cares about is money. No regard to the safety of their tenants or any awareness to the circumstances at hand with the pandemic. Never renting or working here again!
Great people and location in downtown. Very helpful property with lots of options and great rate rates.Exceptional living space.
I lived in 2 different buildings throughout Laurel Village over 4 years and loved my experience there. all of the management staff was always friendly, helpful and accommodating.all requests were always handled in a timely manner and you could tell they really cared about the residents. highly recommend this building and the management company!
Nice tricks
I have lived in the Wilson Park Tower building since summer of 2017. Every staff member is personable and kind, any maintenance requests are resolved quickly, parking and access is secure, mail and package services are prompt. The price for my unit is very reasonable for downtown and the building is well kept. All communication is quick and clear. I dont have a single complaint!
This is a predatory and unprofessional management company. We had several significant issues. Security personelle let themselves into the apartment unannounced while my wife was in the shower to deliver a spare key rather than just sliding it under the door. They, by their own admission, opened our mail because they were trying to catch us doing something wrong. The first of their three separate move out inspections took place more than one month prior to move out. With only pictures taken at that time as evidence, they charged us for replacing the carpet throughout the whole apartment even though their evidence was a small area of dry soiling that we entirely cleaned prior to our actual move out date. These are just the most egregious in a long list of other negative interactions. The location is prime and the amenities are decent, but the poor business practices and lack of basic human decency shown to their tenants overshadow any potential positives. I would never rent from this management company again and I would strongly recommend that others avoid them as well.
Trash, took my funds from the bank account provided but denied me, now I have to wait for them to reverse the payment
Overall, great experience living here but 3 stars because these apartments want 2020 prices with 1975 kitchens and bathrooms. I called maintenance every other month for a minor issues here and there. They were fixable, but still inconvenient. Examples: door hinges fell off, sink valves broken, dishwasher not working, etc. LV has SOME newly renovated units. Mine was old and I paid close to just as much as the more updated units. Basically, I feel ripped off. But overall, I felt safe, had great time entertaining, and love the location. I definitely would’ve renewed my lease if I was actually getting what I was paying for. LV needs to realize we can find newer units in northeast Mpls that offer the same price plus better updates. I’ve looked around.
Lived in Wilson Park Tower at Laurel Village for a year and no real complaints. Pretty affordable for being near downtown with garage parking and in-unit laundry. Some guest parking is available but there is also free street parking at night / on weekends around the apartments. And they drop off packages inside your apartment on weekdays. Would highly recommend touring before leasing - all the buildings are different and some apartments have been updated more than others.
The building is well maintained and the staff responds to requests in a timely manner. The residents are respectful and doesnt feel like a frat house like uptown. The only major change I would like to see is some type of offered cleaning or upgrade after living in a unit multiple years. Most buildings will offer carpet cleaning or some other upgrade at the end of each year.
I’ve lived at Laurel Village’s Hennepin Crossing building for over a year now and I’m here to tell you about the actual experience living here summed up across a comprehensive list of pros & cons - points the leasing office won’t tell you when you sign up to rent. I hope this will help others make an informed decision about living here. It’s a long post, but bear with me.Pros:-Good value for your money (most likely the cheaper of apt options near downtown MSP)-Walking distance from Loring Park (nice park to walk around in the summer & across street from Sculpture Garden).-Located near a L&B supermarket (more expensive supermarket but nice to have nearby in case you need some last min groceries)-Maintenance is helpful if you submit a service request and explain yourself on their ticket system (but, warning - they show up un-announced and little coordination with management on times for service. I’ve been told they will show in 1-2 weeks & they arrive day of).-Working sauna when the gym is open.-Nice sun deck overlooking the city skyline (with regulated hours you can access it).-They pay your water bills for you (but, you deal with weird noises coming out of your sinks & toilets and occasional water stoppages).-A security guard seems to be on duty at the main entrance most of the time (but don’t expect them to help you with duties like letting people in or holding packages for you - they are hired externally & are only there for general supervision of the property).-Generally, residents are amicable and range in all age groups (a motley of residents from recent college grads to retirees).Cons:-You have to deal with a MESS of construction sites in the summer on Hennepin Ave and when I say a mess I mean it. Good luck if you plan to park externally. You will deal with construction hazards coming in & out of the building. These construction “projects” will continue for many more summers - per city orders. Think large piles of construction debris (like the ones you see next to highways) and now place that right outside the doorstep of the HC building.-If you & your roommate both need parking spots - you will only be granted one spot in their internal ramp and there are no exceptions.-Appliances in apartments are old and haven’t been replaced in ages. If you don’t get one of their “upgraded” rooms don’t do it. You’ll end up with a fridge whose doors don’t close properly and kitchens suitable for the 90s.-No easy way to recycle goods without going down to the 1st floor - with recycle bins that fill up quickly by the end of each week.-Smelly & old looking. The carpets in many of the hallways & rooms haven’t been replaced in ages and if you are looking for an upscale apt building this is not the place for you (don’t be fooled by the sun deck and main entrance - the only areas which seem to have been upgraded in recent times).-The surrounding area can feel unsafe sometimes. Good amount of homeless presence & police activity. Don’t be fooled by proximity to downtown.-Pre COVID-19 packages were dropped off at your apt directly. But now, they are left in massive piles downstairs and you have to sift through the entire building’s packages to find yours. Poor system of records in place . If someone steals your package, good luck.
Ive really loved living at Laurel Village. Im in the dog friendly Laurel Curve building and this has been the best place Ive ever lived-- Im so sad I have to leave it! Management is excellent and always pleasant, the very few maintenance requests Ive had were answered incredibly promptly, great location, well maintained common areas. Ive had 0 poor experiences at Laurel Village, hopefully some day I can be back.
Were no longer residents here, but we spent a little over a year in the Hennepin Crossing building and absolutely enjoyed it. My wife and I were very happy with management, their quick response times as well as the overall cleanliness of the facilities. I constantly told my wife how great this place was. Its in a great location, has a covered garage for a fee, package deliveries into your apartment, and if youre on higher floors then the view is wonderful. We had some nights where we could watch the fireworks at target field from our window. One of the drawbacks was that the terrace was windy most of the time, but still fun to hangout on. We hope that management continues doing good work because it really made an impact for us. Perhaps someday we will return to enjoy the downtown life again.
Overpriced. Tried to charge me $800 to replace the carpet when I moved out for normal wear and tear. Had to take to small claims court before they dropped the charges. Still took my security deposit.
I had a great tour experience with Serena! She was so organized and helpful. She listened to what we wanted and showed us many options that satisfied our needs!
Do not rent here. They have a 60 day notice to vacate that you have to jump through hoops to get. They also didnt clean the apartment very well. I could tell after moving in that the last tenants had a pet that they never remedied once I moved in. In addition everything in the apartment is extremely cheap and is need of constant repair. They also have had many mishaps of toilets getting backed up and over flowing, trash chute overflowing, drain fly issues. This is not a clean place. The management company is also very condescending and arent very personable. They just give you a smile and say...oh Im sorry that was in the small print on the back of the lease, and to be fair there is nothing we can do about it. Also there is no real ventilation for the cooking area, so the fire alarm goes off literally every time I cook. I also found out that every year they raise your rent, which is legal, but for new renters they will list it for the original price. So the only reason they raised the rent was because they could. This is a terrible company with a history of bad practices.
Everyone was very helpful getting us moved in and out. The area has a lot to offer and a lot of night life a couple blocks away. Surprisingly quiet for being in downtown. The apartments are beautiful and well maintained. Thank you to the leasing and care staff for making such comfortable places to live.
This place is shady and I should have trusted my gut.Their apartments are dingy, dirty and under-maintained. They engaged in bait-and-switch by showing an apartment supposedly identical to the available units (since available units are not available for viewing because it is occupied). My units werent properly cleaned, the carpet was atrocious and broken blinds were replaced. I felt like I was moving into a slum building. I literally broke out in hives during the short time of my move. When I reached out to the property manager, their expectation is on the tenants to make all possible accommodations and concessions: Can I move all my stuff out so they can clean the carpet? Can I take off work because some conversations must be in person? There is not an ounce of human decency, understanding and remorse coming from the property management.Long story short, I would have been better off camping in the woods and burned my money for warmth than choosing this dump. This place is hazardous to your health.
Laurel Curve is probably the best place for dogs downtown. Having an off-leash area on-site is wonderful, and being so close to Loring Park is also great. The location is extremely convenient, though the area can be sketchy. More than once while walking around 15th St and Hawthorne Ave, sometimes in broad daylight, Ive come across people urinating, defecating (!), using hard drugs, and having sex with prostitutes in and on the hood of cars. The security is mostly unhelpful, but having them available 24hrs is certainly better than nothing.Management does a good job organizing events. The building is well-maintained. Maintenance requests are completed promptly. The cleaning staff is especially amazing; they do a great job and are always friendly.Laurel Curve, at least, is not unusually noisy considering the area. But our unit did have an issue with the bedroom window not closing tightly, so we could clearly hear conversation-level sounds from outside. On each lease renewal, the rent is steadily raised by a moderate amount. If you stay for a few years, youll end up paying significantly more.
Okay place for a short term. But the area is not the best. My husband was followed by shady men once right near the Wilson Tower bld.The post office around the corner is the worst. Other stores in the area had people with attitudes as well. I would not want to stay in this area for long or call it home.Good things: indoor pool( though very small), hot tub, sauna, gym( though needs to be upgraded). Resident events ( movies, yoga, drink socials). The guy in charge of the events, Jared, is awesome.Bad: older apartment, constant traffic noise from outside.
Lived in swinford townhomes. Older building but its well maintained. Maintenance responds quickly to service requests. Management and leasing office are professional. Underground parking is $70 a month which appears pretty reasonable for the area. Rent is also reasonable. Small complaint is trash is pretty far from the building.
I currently live in Laurel Village and I would not recommend it to anyone but there are a few good points so I’ll try to cover that too.Pros:-New off leash dog park is great-Apartments are spacious-Location is pretty good (as long as you don’t plan on parking on the street too often or hanging out outside)Cons:-Management is awful. The few interactions I’ve had with them have been excruciating. If there isn’t an easy fix they will just tell you there’s nothing they can do. I’ve made several complaints about a crucial amenity that has not been working for me for months and all I’ve gotten back boiled down to, “that sucks.”-The area isn’t that great. There have been several break-ins of cars sitting on the street right outside the apartment-No guest parking so all guests have to park on the street, which can be iffy (see above)-The apartments are not recently renovated and look pretty old for the priceHonestly, for what you’d pay here I’d recommend looking in North Loop where you’ll get a nicer place, the neighborhood is better and there are more options to choose from.
People have a lot of negative things to say but I have never had an issue here. The apartments are a little old and not necessarily the nicest most luxury apartments but the location is great and the management has always been pleasant to me. I suppose it is what you make it.
Maintenance takes a long time to show up, and closes work orders when they don’t feel like completing them. I had a wasp infestation that they ignored for a month - I ended up having to sleep with a towel covering the bottom gap on my bedroom door.0/10 - save yourself
If you want to live in one of the towers, recommend the Hennepin one. Wilson is constantly under maintenance whether is the elevators or an unforeseen incident. Hennepin tower is also the one where the money goes to. So, even if it is a little more pricey you actually are getting what ya pay for. Unlike the other buildings.
The property management is awful to work with. They’re drones that stick to a script and are unacommodating in every situation. The location is NOT worth the hassle it comes with. The cleaning and maintenance staff however are very kind and are good at their jobs.
We recently moved to our new apartment in Wilson tower. We loved the amenities. Pool, gym everything is too good . Location is also superb . I saw a lot of bad reviews on management but our entire shifting experience was great . Also each tym we call management we get nicely answered . For us it has been a great experience so far .
Location, location and location if its important to you is all thats going for this place. I stayed here before and alas intend to stay here again only cause my kids day care is right around the corner.Avoid contact with the management team and you will be fine. Any interaction with them is ridden with communication failures and frustration. They are a bunch of cyborgs with no emotions and a clear directive to make a buck at every turn.
This business deserves zero stars. It’s in a horrible neighborhood & the leasing staff is shady. They will scam you for your application fee. Ranintha gave me a horrible experience from the very beginning. The leasing agents will tell to you anything in order to get you money. Ranintha told me many lies during my tour. These apartments are so dumpy . They showed me a certain unit & after I put down the $300 deposit to hold the unit, they told me that it was not longer available & I would have to rent a unit that I did not tour. I had to wait a whole week to get in touch with a manager because he was always conveniently “busy” whenever I called. It’s definitely not worth the $1350 per month that they’re asking. The kitchen appliances are old & outdated & the carpet is nasty. This is the most unprofessional & unorganized leasing office I have ever seen. It’s not even worth your time to tour this place.
I would steer very clear of this place! The location is fantastic but the management needs a lesson in the rights of a tenant and politeness. Theyre rude and and not very helpful at all. Expect a notice every few weeks for some reason to enter your apartment and thats for everyone! The feeling you get living here best equates too being in high school again. You feel like your walking on egg shells in your own building. Dont forget your hall pass. Its a Awful atmosphere to live in!
I live in the McNair building of Laurel Village. I just moved to Laurel Village on October 29th, 2016. I love it so far. The management, maintenance, and leasing staff are extremely helpful and attentive. They have been quick to make sure all of my maintenance needs and requests are fulfilled as urgently as possible. The other great thing about Laurel Village is the location. There are so many shops and restaurants nearby. The Catholic church is just down the street. Loving Park is a couple blocks away as well. I work downtown at Target, so I enjoy going home for lunch some days too.
Lived in Laurel Curve because I have a dog and I love that they have a dog park on site. The units are definitely over priced for the outdated living space though. Parking is really expensive: $75 for 1 space in the complex and $125 for any additional cars at the MCTC parking lot across the street. The good news is that parking at MCTC on the weekends is free after 8pm Friday, which made having guest over doable. The amenities are great but disappointed that not all residents can use the rooftop patio (only those who live in that building). Management was pretty responsive to your request. The walls are really thick and the washer/dryer in unit a plus.
Wonderful place to live in!!I have lived in Laurel Village Hennepin Crossing for a year and a half. I loved the place. The management is very helpful. There are only a few apartments in downtown MSP that gives you in unit washer/dryer and it is one of them. They have beautiful sun deck and also nice pool area with hot tub and sauna. They have a great package delivery system which is by far the best coz it helps individuals who live alone and cant be at home all the time to receive the packages. No matter how heavy it is, they drop that inside your apartment. They also have good parking facility for both residents and guests. They have movie nights, yoga nights and other social activities all year round. Management is very prompt and helpful. I would recommend this place to everyone. Dont just listen to the negativity, people never value the positive things always. I stayed from May 2016 to November 2017 and the only reason Im moving out is Dogs are not allowed in Hennepin Crossing building. Thank you so much laurel village, you all made my stay amazing and I could call this place my home. Ranhita helped me finding the best apartment and Megan from management has always been the best and most helpful person.
I dont understand all of the bad reviews? Ive been here a year and just signed for another year. Its a good location (close to Loring Park, The Walker and the Sculpture Garden) and excellent amenities. Im so close to places (or a bus stop) Ive sold my car or walk everywhere.Ive never had a problem submitting work requests or with security being available. The leasing agent was excellent. I gave her my list of demand and my budget and we got it in one.The office lets me emails thing things and they will print them off or me (I still havent set up my printer). Is it noisy? Its downtown, of course its noisy but the only time I close my window is at night and when its below zero. The Theater and Warehouse districts are North of here. Hennepin Crossing on a main street (Hennepin) that sits between to main cross streets (11th and 12th). BUT, if you drive, its close to the interstate. Also, there is guest parking
Dont ignore the negative reviews like I did. These people are corporate scumbags who will nickel and dime you and act perniciously big you push back.* The tap water periodically smells like poo* They raise the rent by nearly $200 to renew your lease* Just today I saw one of their staff entering a residents apartment while he was a t work. Dont live here if you dont like being spied on.* The management will nickle and dime you DO NOT TRUST THEM* The interiors havent been updated since the 1980s* They send package delivery people into your apartment who also report on people and look around your apartment* You set up autopay, they dont process it, and then they charge you an extra 8% because their system failed.* They raise the rent significantly and demand a new security deposit each year* They lie through their teeth when trying to get yiy to sign up. Once youve signed, youryo just trash to them.I regret not taking the hundreds of other negative reviews seriously when I was looking at moving in here.
Goes bat sh*t crazy some nights. Crime in the area is rampant and private security and off-duty police have to patrol at night in years past.
Think carefully before moving here. Depending upon what your expectations are the lower price of units may offset some of the issues with this company. As with a lot of rental building, the rental agents may not be completely honest with you when asking questions about the building, etc. Renter Beware.I will not be renewing at the end of the lease.7 Worse things about Laurel Village:1. No Management on site during the weekends - there is no one in the management office on weekends or after 6PM. Management hours are M-F 8AM to 6PM. Residents are told to call the security officers on duty for assistance after hours but the guards are pretty uncertain on what to do. You mostly get, They will look into it on Monday answers so the problem just remains. If your unit has a water leak, or appliance goes bad, youre out of luck until Monday ** NOTE - never open a service request on a weekend via the resident portal - the management company will never get it**2. Very noisy environment. Try not to get an apartment on the Hennepin Ave side of the building. No matter what floor you live on, the street noise is very loud and keeping the windows closed does not nothing to soften the sound problem. 11th and 12th Streets area main arteries used by ambulance, police and fire trucks, 24 X 7, Ive lived in Downtown for 20 years and its the nosiest place Ive rented or owned. My windows would not seal correctly so constant noise at all hours of the day.3. Kitchens and bathrooms are very dated with low end appliances and fixtures that do not work well. Not an issue if you do not cook in much. Limited kitchen storage space. The rooms work but nothing great to look at.4. The parking ramp is not secure. Anyone can walk into the ramp and just look into cars. There have been several break ins since Ive lived here. Fortunately the police were able to find the people who broke in but damage already done.5. Security - there used to be better security around the facility. Lately however, there never seems to be a security presence. Being downtown, there are a log of homeless, vagrants and random people who hang out in front of the building asking for money, etc.6. There are no auto-fans on the thermostat. So the heat/air is either on or off. Residents of Hennepin Crossing have to manually turn the fan off or on. Very hard to get a decent environment especially during the winter.7. Windows do not latch correctly. Before you sign the lease, make sure the windows in the unit you are renting latch correctly. If they do not, you will have a hard time keeping a decent temperature. My windows do not latch and maintenance can do nothing about it. So you can feel the wind coming in at all times of the year. So hot in the summer and very cold in the winter even with the heat on. Management solution is to just leave the heat and air on all the time.5 Good things about Hennepin Crossing:1. Nice outdoor space - just be sure to follow the rules or everyone in the building gets a Youre behaving badly note from the Management Office.2. Nice fitness center, pool and party room. Everthing is dated but works. A lot of the TVs on the cardio machines do not work but otherwise a doable room.3. The cleaning crew are pretty nice and are willing to greet residents as you walk around4. Washer and dryer in the unit - small capacity washer and requires multiple loads to handle what regular size washer do. But at least its in the unit.5. Location - it is close to everything
Overall a good place to live in considering the amenities and downtown location.I have not seen a better place for such price in downtown.
Unfriendly for foreigner, especially student.waste my money and time to apply.charge you application fee first, then kick u out!
Communication discrepancies occurred during the application process. But, in the end, they made it right.
Management staff are very unfriendly and have many unreasonable rules.
Good
Ive lived at Laurel Village in the Wilson Tower since 8/26/21. I read the reviews but when I met with the leasing agent Ranitha she assured me that I was making the best decision (She is absolutely amazing)! Since Ive lived here each week Ive had to have a different thing fixed. My furnace made a sound so bad in the middle of the night that I left to stay at my other house until the issue was resolved. It was resolved one week later. After the issue was resolved I didnt have access to use my central air for 4 days. This was a quick fix once management got to it. Following week my kitchen drawer broke. It was fixed the same week. The next week I reserved the party room but was kicked out by security because management never really reserved it for me. Last but not lease I used the portal site to make a payment to my rent. They had the incorrect amount on the portal then stated I will be charged a late fee for their mistake since I didnt call in to resolve their mistake. If I could break my lease without any penalties Im 80% sure that I would. Im extremely disappointed. ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS HAPPENED WITHIN 40 DAYS OF LIVING IN LAUREL VILLAGE.
