Great place to live if you want to be close to the entertainment and amenities of down town, but be overcharged for a very careless and rude staff managing a rundown shack. Staff often will barge into your unit unannounced, and take the opportunity to hit on you (creepily) if you’re a woman alone. Other tenants of the building will relieve you of ownership of your personal items, such as your bicycle or possessions you leave in your car, and may be sweet enough to break a window to do it. Bottom line, it’s a bad place to live if you value your safety and belongings.
By far the worst apartment building Ive ever lived in. Im so happy I moved out!The only thing I have positive to say is that they try to keep it cleanOtherwise than that, I wouldnt waste my time. Not bitter about anything, the management and the way they conduct business is not what you want paying $1300 for a one bedroom, only street parking, no garage spot unless you pay an extra $100 a month and its now located in a not so good area. Not to mention its taken them 4 months to get my deposit returned to me. I had to give one star just to write a review but this place doesnt deserve that!
I set up two different appointment times to do a virtual tour. The first time, they apologized for missing the appointment and rescheduled (fine). However the second time, I didn’t receive a zoom link prior to the start of the appointment nor did I hear from them since. Seems like I dodged a bullet though based on reviews.
I find this community as home and have had no problems here. The neighborhood is chill and there are a lot of restaurants and businesses here. I am looking for a dry cleaner and found one 2 blocks away. - From a verified resident on ApartmentRatings
Didnt care about Security .now with no security who going to watch the building with No Security. People driving in behind each other .people stealing packages .cars broken into, bikes stolen. And Management sit back and do nothing. And their answer is get rid of security.Have fun with that.
Cedars 94 Apartments are great. I mean I dont have personal experience but it was great seeing the support from tenants last night watching from their balconies while we were kettled by police on I-94 for protesting a fascist president attemptting to start a coup. Thanks to all the tenants for keeping the momentum and supporting the community.
Excellent and polite staff. Excellent communication skills. Very safe.
Been living here for over a year and the apartments as well as the complex are very nice! Many amenities (some open 24 hrs) and the location is in the middle of just about everything. Staff is very friendly and accommodating!
I don’t live there but I like the location to downtown without downtown prices. Underground Parking is a plus. So is being right next door to Pizza Luce (amazing meatballs and pizza ) and a couple of other cool places. They have updated the interior so it’s more ‘cool’ and the outside signs are next.
Hats off to a great staff; enthusiastic and caring. I appreciate them very much. What is not to love - the pool area, the community room, billiards room, sauna ... it is great! They also have underground parking if people need that. Come inside and see how pretty it is. Best value in the area!
Hi there:After reading some negative reviews, I just wanted to say that I have no complaints about this complex. My partner and me have lived here for three years and we just signed a new lease. We look forward to more time here at Cedars the staff and Maintenance are great people and fulfill our wishes. I recommend this complex to people.
After reading these reviews, I also wanted to update a little bit. This place is awesome. The staff has always been consistently friends and ready to help with issues. Weve brought up maybe 1 or 2 things and they were fixed within a day or 2. The amenities promised are absolutely delivered on - the gym is 24/7 and has phenomenal equipment. Ive had no complaints with any tenants either, everyone seems to be super chill, and the management here seems to do a good job of getting chill people living here. Totally recommend the place, its a phenomenal location, great staff, the place looks gorgeous after remodeling (and they do remodeling as often as possible). They ARE owned by a more major company, so maybe some red-tape stuff is more... red-tapey? But it has never been an issue for us, and everything else about this place has completely outweighed any (if there are any) negatives.
Lived there for two years.1.The manager changed the number of housing rent on my signed lease twice to get more out of me. Good job Stacy.2.They towed my car from my paid underground parking spot without zero notice or calls and refuse to pay for any fee they caused on this incident. And they claimed that they called no one answer... and my phone has no record of any of their calls... of course...no email too.3. They charged extra hundreds ($760 total) for deposit when moving in. Very unfriendly admin staff...they try to deny the amount I paid for deposit until I showed the amount on my paper lease with record. And I only have $500 back after moved out. (Room and parking spot 100% cleaned)4. The admin staff put late rent notes on my door three times in the final month even though I paid three month of rent ahead (according to the move out policy), and I have to go and figure out which one of their staff made the mistake again. (I have zero late rent records for my past 10 years of stay in the State)4. The admin staff always leave an hour ahead the close off time, so if you have any package arrived in their mail office, better plan to get it on the weekends. If you dont want to get ripped of by a team of lazy, rude and evil admin staffs, there are other way better places to move in.
I lived here for three years with only a few minor issues, but the one that made me leave this review was:I came by the leasing office twice to schedule a move out inspection, when I got a job out of state. Both times, I was told that I could just come by at any time to get it done.On the day I was moving out, I went by a third time and was told that they were busy and I could just hand in the keys. Against my better judgement, I did and moved out of state. Not only did I never get my deposit of $300 sent to me, I opened my mail tonight to find a letter from a debt collector, telling me I was to pay $293.59 to them on behalf of the apartment complex. Not only do I not know what this amount is for (and the letter doesnt mention what it is for), the apartment complex made NO attempts to call me or reach me before referring me to a debt collector (and the amount is increasing daily while Im trying to find out why I was stuck with this bill)This is predatory behavior and I hate that there is very little I can do about it from 600 miles away.Be very careful with this apartment complex.
I lived here a few years ago. I recently returned to the facility due to the upgrades theyve done. The apartment looks and feels cleaner than ever. With the upcoming sidelining, the property/aesthetic value will most definitely increase. Its been a good experience living here so far!
Love it! Great customer service. Great place! Always clean.
Dont let the amenities fool you, this building is horribly run. There are regular problems with theft in common areas and supply closets. Instead of spending money on things like bicycle security, they put up patio furniture that no one uses (though Im sure it looks nice to people touring). I lived there for years and they would never fix one of two driers in the near laundry room. Despite two building supers telling me exactly what the problem was, the management always said, that dryers fine, youre just overloading it. The fire alarm regularly goes off, in the evening or when people are sleeping. There are severe problems with the water, and they have water shut-offs all the time. (Occasionally, the water will run brownish-red.) Its really a bad management company: the Goodman Group. In the time I was there, they never kept a manager for more than a year or two. The building supers complained that they never got money for basic fixes, while the management spent lavishly on cosmetic improvements. I lived there for seven years, and for years paid my rent on time. The moment I was late for a month, they immediately threatened eviction - within only a few days of being late. Great neighborhood, but dont believe a word they say in the management office.
Horrible, beyond horrendous management. I’m so angry and will follow up with my lawyer as to how they’re keeping my deposit when I was told otherwise. I moved out way before my move out dates, and Satcie informed me that my apartment looked well and I should be receiving my deposit minus the water. Well here is my deposit check and it is only 41.12 out $150? I’ve lived here for two years paying an arm and leg for one bedroom and this is the thanks I get? Goodman Group, I cannot wait to hear your explanation as why this is happening? Perhaps because I told Stacie that their policy of keeping $150.00 for administration fee was “ pathetic.” Run and do not rent from this horrible company!
EDIT: And it just gets worse! Cedars 94 LITERALLY stole all of the laundry money tenants had loaded onto cards. When I called them out on this, they said they werent able to transfer the funds so they were just forfeited. WHAT?! They literally took a card that we had to put cash on to pay for laundry, and kept ALL of the money. Their only justification was they gave tenants some free laundry. Keep in mind, they never announced that tenants were forfeiting their money on the cards to make sure they took full advantage of the free laundry to get their money back!Run! Anywhere but here! The management does not care about you or you safety. When I complained that my neighbors cigarette smoke was getting into my unit through the heaters, I was told they don’t need to ensure my unit gets clean air.
DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!! They are very nice and helpful, ...until there is a problem. The renewed our contract even though we had told them we were only renting for 6 months. We moved out of the country before our lease ended and agreed on paying the rent throughout our lease IF they do not find a tenant. Now, they are sending us the power bill for the electricity the new tenant is using AND made us pay the rent! That means that they are accepting a double rent for their unit!So yeah, rude staff, not helpful, stay away.
Cedars 94 is a great place to live! Tons of amenities, convenient to bus & light rail! Close to great food & liquor & clubs! The staff is excellent & is accommodating in every way!
Great staff and great amenities. The indoor pool is awesome, nice fitness center, and the location couldnt be better. Love it here!
Scheduled a tour and when I arrived no one was at the office. Very unprofessional, and a waste of my time and already a huge red flag. On the plus side I guess I dodged a bullet.
Lived here for four years, 2013-2017. We left because the rental company continued to invest aggressively in really awful, useless (and often defective) improvements while also aggressively raising the rent each year. We couldnt stand to walk past another botched improvement or endure another awkward, under-attended tenant-appreciation event with tons of wasted food and resources. [EDIT/UPDATE: Ha, you gotta laugh at Cedars 94s recent response to this: Unfortunately we sometimes dont receive the turn-out we expected for various reasons, however we will still provide these events...]It just felt like they were throwing our rent money away left and right...while still raising the cost to us each year. What started as a halfway decent deal wound up in the end feeling like a heartless gouge. We liked the original staff when we began renting, but every staff position turned over & changed countless times, and subsequent people in that role were weirdly hostile and unprofessional (complaining to us about other staff &/or tenants). Based on recent reviews, it doesnt sound like much has changed, here.Staff aside, youre absolutely assaulted by the smell of cigarette smoke throughout...particularly noteworthy that the smoke bleeds out of tenants units into common spaces, like the pool & sauna (which significantly affects ones ability to enjoy the amenities). And if you like to open your windows in nice weather, expect visible wafts of smoke to drift in through your screens. If you want to sit on your balcony, expect to engulfed in dense clouds of smoke. The one-bedroom floor plan is defective in that it places the air conditioner literally as far as possible from the bedroom, so even at full-blast, the bedroom could never cool lower than 85 degrees in the summer (while the living room area would be in in the 70s). Even with two fans directing the cool living room air down the hallway towards the bedroom, the bedroom never cooled. Our grim choice each summer was to either endure sweaty sleeplessness in our bedroom, or drag the mattress into the cool-enough-to-sleep living room. The (free) heat was great during the winter, though, on the plus side.Absolutely great location, but there are lots of more desirable, competitively priced, alternative rental options in this neighborhood -- seek them out.TL; DR: Unless you masochistically like second-hand smoke, sleepless summers, and your hard-earned rent money squandered on useless things, dont rent here.
Literally the worst apartment to live in, management was extremely lazy and rude, kept an extra watchful eye on my boyfriend who so happened to be black like myself, charged me over 1,000 dollars in cleaning fees when I moved out. I was charged for faulty window curtains that kept coming off due to their quality, and also had to deal with a bursted pipe which probably resulted in mold as well as a broken dishwasher. If I could I would give them zero stars, management was extremely poor and I was told by other employees that management had their own personal bias on certain tenants of the building, needless to say I did not feel welcome and would never recommend this apartment to anyone.
It is fairly quiet in this community and the amenities at Cedars 94 are wonderful. It is close to shopping and public transpotation. Social activities such as prizes for seasonal, holiday door decorations are fun. - From a verified resident on ApartmentRatingsI am a resident at Cedars 94 of 6 years. It is conveniently located near the light railway and bus line and shopping. The amenities include a swimming pool, sauna, exercise room, community room, and brand new gas grills for resident use. 2018Cedars 94 is conveniently located within minutes of shopping and along public transportation. I like that the complex remodeled several projects that include the laundry room, new windows and patio doors, and exterior siding. The amenities are great with a swimming pool, game room, and exercise room. - From a verified resident on ApartmentRatings 2020
IF your looking to get robbed live here. They will keep all of your deposit. People smoke WEED in the elevator. There are thieves and homeless people living in the garage. The staff are the worst people ever, They never fix anything on time.
Awesome Apartments
I have visited friends it look good and recently remodeled.
I am going on year three at Cedars 94. I have been quite happy here. I have been a renter my entire life (which has been a considerable amount of time - trust me), and Cedars 94 has been one of my favorite places to live. The location, the amenities, the staff, the maintenance/cleaning crew, all make the amount of money I pay monthly WELL worth it. I even have heated underground parking!! The seward neighborhood has proven to be a wonderful choice for me, with plenty of healthy food choices, easy access to the light rail and right on a bus line, and literally everything I could possibly need is within a 1 mile radius. The pool and sauna are always clean and I have enjoyed using them as well as the large community room on several occassions. I cant say enough good things about Cedars 94 overally, and especially the office staff and maintenance crew.
Great apartment to live in with amenities and convenient locations near eateries and shopping.
I love these apartments
Really nice staff
Decent amenities, but the staff are plain mean.
Expensive
- If youre looking for an awful place to live, Cedars gets an A+!- Let me say a few words about the rental staff here. Have you ever met folks who are surface level nice, but below the surface theyre really nasty? Get ready for unexpected fees, no compassion, threats, and other nasty behavior.- Amenities promised are a lie.Example 1: Free printing = You might get lucky that its the 1 day when theres paper, toner, and the computers arent taken. So dont count on it. Oh and dont expect the office to be nice to you when you notify them of the problem. Youll get that Oh you must be stupid and dont know how the printer works look. Then theyll ask, Is there paper? If they actually cared about residents they would get a system where you could email your document to the printer instead of having to wait for people to get their asses off of facebook and pinterest to get on the computer.Example 2: Gym = only open for certain hours, awful equipment, and no dumbbells.Example 3: Office open between the hours of x and y = We close early cuz we feel like going home, screw you. The other day I tried to pick up a package after getting home from work, and the delightful folks had already gone home for the day, a full hour early!-Conclusion: Take your money and go elsewhere. This place is a TRAP.
Despite paying every single months bill well in advance, they have posted it to the wrong account 3 times. Even after emailing them copies of the cashed checks as proof, they could not find payment in their accounting system. They deactivated my key fob as a result, causing enormous inconvenience. Appallingly poor record keeping.
We lived in Cedars 94 for 3 years. Good: heated underground parking garage. Bad: you almost have to pay for a parking spot in the garage because the street parking sucks. 22nd Ave is always full, and for gods sake do NOT park on 9th street. I walked down 9th street one morning and saw 6 cars with their windows smashed out. Theres always glass on the road - its like people just walk down that street with a baseball bat breaking windows. Cedars 94 has a nice leasing staff and the 1 bedroom apartment was quite big & definitely livable. Its awesome to be right next door to Pizza Luce Seward and smell garlic in the air, but the rest of the neighborhood is so-so. I was always scared to walk outside at night because thered be groups of guys sitting by the entrances loitering. Good thing there were multiple entrances so I could avoid them. They had signs around the apartment warning about drug dealers and to be careful in the garage because someone got mugged (they took his cellphone, wallet, and fried chicken). Id recommend looking elsewhere for a place to live.
Fair until the end when we didnt renew our lease, office person came into my apartment without notice and did not knock. We were sleeping and she walks in to show the apartment. Very rude and invasive. When we confronted Jason, he said he had given a note under the door and that they follow all basics no apology and no respect. Never will we recommend this place.
My experience was very up and down with Cedars, the reviews all ring true in my experience, both good and bad.The office manager and subordinates are the biggest challenge.
