Ive been trying to call to rent a place an can never get ahold of anyone.
I live at 1150 s. Main and it was purchased by Kosel Equities and run by Uprealty as well. They are throwing out elderly tenants before Gov Lamonts Aug. 25th moratorium with no concern for tenant safety during this pandemic, not following correct protocols put out by the State Atty. General and thats because theyre from NY and have no empathy, just care a put their own greed $$$. These units have separate electric so that means they can be converted to condos easily.
I’ve been living at the Wilcox for just over a year and they’ve changed management four times during that time.The exterior of the apartments are unkept, never once been landscaped. Once in a LONG time they will cut the grass but will leave the grass cuttings all over the side walks, the weeds are over grown, the neighboring trees are also overgrown and lean above some the cats which means if your car is in that spot it will covered in residue that can only be removed by car wash. There is graffiti all over the garbage and recycling bins and once a week they over over flowing and covered in every peat imaginable.The interior of the hallways is in the same poor condition. Barely cleaned and the smells coming from every direction is barely tolerable. The carpet is old and the paint on the elevator is peeling. Often times the inside of the elevator smells like urine. The crowd here is a mix of young, loud and old and unemployed. Very little professionals which means more problems with community and often times I feel in danger. There’s a man who smokes cigarettes outside his apt which happens to be the main entrance and has no care for this walking by or even children. At times he’s naked which just a small blanket coughing and spitting his Tabasco’s infested mucus all over the floors.The rent for a recently renovated apartment is $1150. IT IS NOT WORTH IT
I do not recommend living or moving into Wilcox apartments the manager and the assistant manager never answer they the phone they lie on their website we dont have waterfront we dont have any coffee bar there is no courtesy patrolling and when you do call the manager or the assistant manager and leave a message they never call back or they dont answer their phone to me theyre lucky they got a one rating I would rather live in a cardboard box than live at the Wilcox apartments in deal with the so-called managers or assistant manager whatever they are not professional and as far as I know when I lived there that the maintenance man is hard-working hes on the job 24/7 and getting work done, even on the holidays he drops what he is doing with no complaints leaves his family and does the job or finds a way to always fix the problem. As far as Im am concerned he should of been the manger there because of the work he does and always answers hisphone or calls back. The new managmeman is why I moved out good luck to all.
This complex has a lot of promise, but it’s clear that won’t be fulfilled.The less action is taken to improve the complex, the increase of graffiti and damage occurs. The one elevator in the complex has been broken for over four months. Rent increased and quality was reduced.When I first moved in, I really loved this place. But the lack of care and communication makes me want to move elsewhere.
