Great day out on the water with Mel, Charles and Crew. Seamless operation to get out to such an amazing flat water spot at the Stiltsville Flats. Great place to learn, not too crowded, with state of the art equipment (helmet radios, etc.) and teaching. Cant wait for my next trip out.

Kite boarding has a lot for us to learn, from setting up and using the equipment to teaching your body completely new skills. It will take 4-9 training sessions, minimum, for you to be able to cruise and stay out of the water. Therefore the patience of the instructors is essential as you will feel silly and frustrated as you retrain your brain 🧠 to fly, PATIENCE THAT THESE INSTRUCTORS HAVE IN SPADES. I have personally worked with 3 different instructors over 3 sessions and each was kind, supportive and full of great ways to help me fix the mistakes I am making. I, myself, can almost maintain myself out of the water one direction. Their instruction and environment is essential to my success so far and can’t give a higher recommendation if your are wanting to learn how to zoom across the water!

Finally a Kite board company that has got it right. You want a boat rescue for the 1st few lessons, you want the best training area(Stiltsville) that’s not crowded, you want the friendliest staff and instructors without paying a crazy fee. South Florida Kiteboarding has delivered what I could not find in 4 different schools. Charl, Melissa and the whole team put the students needs first. 1 on 1 instruction including radio helmets, rescue boat, water/drinks and snacks! They have all the gear, inflated and ready to go when you arrive by their boat via the short trip from No Name Harbor, Key Biscayne, FL. You can choose your instructor male or female or they will match you based on their combined decades of experience. After only a few sessions, you will be kiteboarding upwind, learning transitions and when you are ready to purchase your own kite package, they will make all the recommendations based on your kiting area, style, etc. They even have “like” new kites and equipment for sale at a large discount. I saved 40% on a complete Cabrinha kite package. At 57, Kiteboarding is my new exercise program!! Time for some Big Air!!

I am very happy I found this place. I have been struggling trying to learn kiteboarding by the beach with big waves. The spot is amazing to learn. Flat water and knee high. The instructors communicate with you with radio helmets so they give you corrections on the spot. Now I am riding upwind and working on improving transitions. I am planning on going there a couple more times and then I will be able to tackle the waves with no problems. Camila was my instructor and she was great.

Absolutely awesome experience! The spot is truly unique and the crew know what they are doing. You get set up in the middle of the water, which they help with given its quite the challenge first time, and then the riding is really amazing. No crowded beach goers or hoards of kiters - just you and the crew!Its a great spot for learners given the shallow + flat water, not many places offer that combo. The crew and team are great and really friendly, I went back again as it was such a great experience. Great time and team - highly recommend!

Went for my first lesson today and was very pleased with everyone and enjoyed my experience a great deal. Instruction is one on one with your own personal trainer who is in constant communication throughout your lesson via headset. Thank you Melissa, Charles and Roberto for an excellent introduction- I look forward to meeting with yuh all again tomorrow for lesson 2!

I have ridden with sfkb several times and its an AMAZING time. Its one of the best ways to spend your time in Miami. The water... the people ... the instructors ... its just exceptional. You simply MUST try sfkb at least once in your life. Its a game changer. Biscayne bay is a phenomenal place to play and enjoy. Come down and visit these guys ... top notch service and instruction!!!

I took a series of kiteboarding lessons with Melissa & Charl and their team over the course of a number of weeks starting in March of 2021 after trying another place in the Miami area. The product is superb from a number of angles, and as a consequence of this I am very satisfied with the experience. Specifically:- The service they offer is competitively priced relative to the competition- The instruction is extremely clear and consistent, and I was able to be paired with the same teacher over a number of weeks- The lessons were prompt and well organized, with the schedule kept to with fair precision. The equipment, including safety equipment, was also well prepared. Furthermore the kites are prepared at the location before the class so that it can start promptly in order to maximize the output from the available time.- The team was prompt at communicating, especially when the weather was uncertain. They were also extremely friendly.- The location is superb for beginners as the conditions make it possible to learn in calm, flat water where you can stand on your feet easily and recover from any mistakes. This makes it possible to maximize the learning opportunities during the sessions.- Safety is taken seriously, and you are supervised throughout with the instructor always close by. The instructor is also connected to the student by radio which is helpful from an instructional perspective and very reassuring from a safety point of view.Overall I enjoyed learning their and would recommend it to anyone looking to accelerate their learning in the sport.

Exceptionally professional kitesurfing school. The spot is perfect to learn (no obstructions, knee deep water) and everything is setup for you giving you maximum time on the water. Melissa and her team are top notch instructors. They make learning fun and personal and are always encouraging. The gear they provide is in perfect condition and they have a great range of board and kite sizes as well as wetsuits, booties etc if you dont have any. They always make you feel like you are family and will have you up and riding in no time! I took a lesson with South Florida Kiteboarding and had an awesome time! Daniel was my instructor and provided simple and clear instructions that helped me to progress to standing up by the end of the day. The location in the bay is perfect and is a much easier environment to learn in than practicing on the ocean where you have to deal with waves and deeper water. If you ever drift too far off the sand bank Melissa is also there to scoop you up on her jet ski and drive you back into position. If you want to learn to kiteboard in Miami I definitely suggest using this company!

I went for a single lesson while visiting the area, the team is extremely friendly and encouraging. I had a great time and definitely plan on continuing in this sport. The whole experience was excellent from start to finish, while booking and afterwards keeping in constant contact about what to expect, right up to the lesson which was PHENOMAL.

First time doing kitesurfing in Miami and without question, these are the instructors to chose. Melissa was fantastic in terms of hospitality and creating an experience that makes you want to come back. She used her boat to reach sand banks that have a breathtaking view of the city, water is hip height so perfect for beginners, and no waves. Alex was my instructor and if I go back, I definitely plan to reconnect with him for round 2. Patient, thoughtful, and knows his stuff!

Amazing school, got on the board on my first lesson! The boys are great at helping out and setting up. Great positive Vibes and with conditions to match. Always om flatwater and water shallow enough to stand in but deep enough to be able to crash and learn safely!

I have never written a review so here goes. My husband has wanted to learn to kite board for some time now so I called and booked an appointment for him while we were visiting South Beach. We took an Uber to the location and the experience from that point forward was outstanding! Melissa and her husband Charle were PROFESSIONAL, trusting, kind, warm, friendly and ADORABLE. They took us out into the open water to a sandbar and physically showed him ever aspect of the sport. We spent 4 hours out on the water with them and I can honestly say it was the best 4 hours I have ever spent while on vacation. The entire crew they have are exceptional kite boarders. There were two other gentlemen on the boat taking lessons and their instructors were outstanding as well. They all go out of their way to make sure you have an exceptional experience. I cant say enough. If you are interested in kite boarding lessons call this place first. My husband cant wait to get back out on the water with them again. Their attention to the experience and learning the skills, water safety and hospitality is unmatched. We are already planning our next visit and appointment with Melissa!!!

Mellissa has a great team of Instructors who take a very methodical approach to making sure their students understand the fundamentals of this sport. If you are patient and master their introduction exercises, you will be on the board in just a few sessions. They truly love what they do and are passionate about the lifestyle. Brilliant team who were very relaxed and really cared about teaching me how to board for the first time. Had four half days sessions in great wind with good equipment, boats and nice shallow water. I’ve been going regularly to South Florida kiteboarding for two seasons now. The instructors are top knotch and quality teachers. Safety is a priority for them. All the instructors Melissa have are wonderful however some worth noting are NICK from Germany. He is patient, kind, helpful and so knowledgeable. Watching him handle the kite is pure joy. LEO is also very good and has been a regular teacher for me and has advanced me in my skills as well. The location in Miami is perfect for all levels of kite boarders. Thanks!!

Best place to learn!! Their professional and dynamic staff will make your experience amazing. They bring you on a boat to Stiltsville, where the water is shallow and you can learn with any wind direction! The staff makes you learning experience simple and secure. On top of this the location is beautiful with a view on Stiltsville, Key Biscayne and you see the Miami skyline from afar. I will definitely go back for another lesson!

Best company to learn how to kiteboard! I took 1 lesson at Crandon Park before coming to Melissa and I can honestly say this is the better place to not only learn but also to kiteboard!! Ive had 4 lessons with Nick who is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and so friendly! The way he explains everything makes it so easy to learn. And you can’t beat the location. It’s extremely beginner friendly with views of Miami. Melissa and the rest of the team are very professional and so friendly that you feel welcomed the first time you go! Highly recommended!!

Dont go anywhere else! Seriously these guys are amazing, their approach, the kite spot (stiltsville) and their customer service is outstanding, they will go the extra mile for you. I lucked into a day with Dan and Melissa at Stiltsville and it was awesome though I was bummed I had bought a package with another area school before my trip here. For the kiting itself, their teaching area has better, stronger and more consistent wind than other kite spots in the area AND the boat ride makes it feel that much more exotic. Look at Iwindsurf yourself and see the daily graph when other areas are struggling, theve got the goods. Call Melissa, shell help you in any way she can to make your experience great. Totally recommend them.
