Worst car rental experience EVER!!! I rented the car through a program at work and I paid $450 in advance. When we finally got to the counter, we waited in line for 45 minutes, the clerk was totally rude. She wanted a credit card and I stated that I paid for the rental in advance. She stayed that it was for incidentals. I placed the card in the machine and she stated that the card had to be in my name, since I technically rented the car in my name. Luckily, I brought one with my name on it, otherwise we would not have gotten the car. We added my husband as a driver and they said that would be an extra charge per day to have him added, as I dont like driving in Miami. Then we were told that if we did not add the Sun Pass coverage for 10.99 per day that for every toll I passed I would be charged a $10 fee plus the toll charges. So that was added. Plus we were told that another $200 deposit was needed so they were putting a hold of $500 on our card, so now we are in for a total of $950 for a 6 day rental. I asked to speak with the manager, who kept telling me to be quiet. Never have I ever been treated this way by a company. I explained to her that when we were in Miami in June we rented from National, right across the way, and we were not charged these fees. She just stated that they are not National. Never will I rent from Dollar again. If I hadnt paid in advance I would have gone back over to National. Pathetic company!
I had a great experience with returning my rental at the MIA airport. I had the nicest guy (Edner, you’re an angel) close out my rental contract. Would definitely recommend :)
Stay away! Been a customer of Dollar for 20 years. Had a flat west of Miami and after waiting on hold for 1.5 hours, I changed the tire myself and limped back to Miami. Joaquin the manager was a real jerk saying I had to pay for a “detail” while not even offering a new car. We left and hope we make it for another day before we return the car riding on the donut spare. Bye bye Dollar... y’all just lost a lifelong customer.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. We made a reservation ahead & paid $430. When we got to the pick up location they wanted to charge us $500 deposit plus several other fees that came to an additional $1000. We had to call & canceled our reservation & the person we spoke with on the phone said we would receive an email showing it was cancelled in 30mins & that our refund would take 7-10 business days. We never received an email so we called back & someone said that we don’t get a cancellation email but our refund was processed for $430. We called 11 business days later to find out that we were only refunded $330 because someone put our reason for cancellation was because we had a different payment method so they kept $100! When we cancelled we told them we cancelled because the fees were outrageous. Now we have to wait another 7-10 business days for the $100. It’s very unprofessional to not send emails confirming that it was cancelled as well as how much we would get refunded. Every time we called someone tells us something different. I will never rent a car from them again or will recommend it to anyone. We got a rental from enterprise with no problem at all.
I rented a jeep wrangler for a week for vacation and was given a rate of 400+ taxes and fees when I arrived at the airport they notify me without a credit card I’m on able to rent a vehicle and I had to rent something of lesser value. My total rate door for the week was $100 less than the original quoted jeep wrangler and when I asked if they would be giving me a refund for the adjusted rate he told me to call customer service. After calling customer service they notified me and told me that darn able to do it over the phone and then I would have to do it with the location I rented from. This is totally unprofessional from both The rental location and dollar customer service. I would totally avoid using them from here on out. It is highway robbery at its finest.It is practically theft what they are doing. It is unprofessional and I’m going to use a different rental company from now on. They weren’t even willing to give me a future credit for another rentalT.
Be aware these are the rudest people. Dont plan on them youll be at the airport with no car . Had paid for everything wanted to charge more so needed debt card but couldnt rent cause I dont have a return flight yet came to make funeral arrangements for my father. They made a bad experience even worse
Never again. Ran a red light (supposedly) in Miami in Dollar rental car. $158 was the ticket, I paid, ok no problem. 2 months after the ticket I get a charge on my card for $30 saying Dollar Violation-ATS. I call up Dollar rental, and after waiting about 40 minutes - the guy tells me they have a $30 transfer fee, for sending me the ticket!?! How is that even legal?? I hate this company and I’m happy to share the review. You’re scumbags and you know it.
Dollar and thrifty are the Ghetto of car rental places.Cars are disgustingly dirty. The customer service is beyond horrible. Booked online through my company program PAID for the car and the guy cancels my reservation because my card declined. But it was already paid for and there is a charge on my card for the payment. He wasnt willing to listen or find a solution to the problem. He also tried telling me my insurance wouldnt cover the car if there was an accident 😂 ok. Right not my first rodeo bud. I declined all his extra add ons he wanted to try to sell.. I will always book through enterprise for now on.
Upon arrival to the check in area and waiting in line for almost 1hr, it is clear that the customer service and the agents are not professional or trained sufficiently to handle their customer base. There were many interruptions during my conversations with the agent (in which they were speaking to people in line and those coming up to the desk without making the line), no eye contact, and many commanding orders (i.e. can I see X item, can you read that for me). During my check in I clearly stated I wanted no insurance on my vehicle or self and stated I had my own coverage via car insurance and credit card that was being used to rent the vehicle. I finished by signing forms to understand I declined coverage and off I went. I returned the vehicle to find I was indeed charged for the insurance and was shower that I signed the form. I do understand its my responsibility to read all 10 or 20 pages of an agreement form, but to be told that I was signing to decline only to find out it was actually to accept, clearly shows the agent was not paying attention to me, the work they need to do to complete a through transaction, and did not care to provide excellent customer service. It is unfortunate that I have lost these funds, but I hope with my review future customers can either take there business to another company or be extra vigilant when dealing with this company.

NEVER Dollar/Thrifty Miami. Had reservation but NO CARS upon arrival to Miami. Many of us turned away at counter!!! Horrible. They overbook and if your car gone out of luck! So me and over 15 other customers were outside trying to figure out what to do next. No other rentals available at Airport. So I jumped in a cab $$$ and went searching around. I felt so bad for the families stranded!!!! Never ever use.
So if you book through Thrifty know that they are owned by Dollar. The service was good, the process was smooth. Well absolutely book with them again! (Appreciate them all)

If I could give zero stars I would. Horrible most service ever. Had to wait for an hour at the airport to check in and get car. They didn’t have the car we paid for and gave us a downgrade. The car strongly smelled like smoke. We later found a cigarette in the back seat. When the car was given to us, we had to search for the key which was on the floor of the passengers seat. We later found a bedbug in the car as well. Never again booking with them.

They make sure they make it so hard to get an SUV, then had to nerve to charge me twice and refuse to refund the charges or fax my bank so they could take a hold off my money. TRASH. My wife just returned home from renting a car from this location. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE!!! What a disaster! They do NOT want to help you. They force you to sign a contract without explaining anything to you. When you return the car, they slap on surprise fees and state you signed a contract and do not care what you think. This is the worst customer service we have ever received from any company weve ever dealt with. They know they can get away with anything and take advantage of their customers. WARNING!!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! They will screw you for hundreds of dollars in random and surprise fees!
The entire experience with Dollar was deplorable. From waiting in line at Miami airport for one hour, to waiting another twenty minutes to be driven up, this car then being a mid-size when I paid for a full-size and THEN for this car to stall on me multiple times as I drove it across the state and needing to be exchanged at Sarasota International Airport. There I had to exchange the car due to the mechanical fault but I was told they had no vehicles suitable, so I had to go back later that day and exchange yet again. After having spent hours driving back and forth to the airport and endless frustration because I was in the middle of planning my fathers FUNERAL, Joe at Sarasota International Airport told me the only thing he could do to alleviate my inconvenience was comp me two tanks of gas- one from the first car I exchanged and the second from when I returned it to Miami. I expressly asked- does this mean I do not have to fill up the tank when returning to Miami and he said YES. Then I get to Miami for my return flight and lo and behold the people there dont care at all and charged me 78 DOLLARS on half a tank of gas I was PROMISED would be comped. What sort of customer service is this where you straight up lie to your customers and extort them? I had to PAY almost 80 dollars for the pleasure of exchanging my car twice. It is a disgrace and not only will I never use Dollar again and never recommend it, I will actively tell everyone I know never to use it and I will report your company to the Better Business Bureau and anyone else I can think of. It is shameful. Not to mention the man who checked me in at Miami Airport was not wearing a mask. I am in shock at the state of this company- you are a disgrace.
I made the reservation online a few months in advance. The day before my arrival i called to make sure everything looked fine. They said it did. Get to the counter after landing (HUGE lines) and the lady said since it was a mini van rental they needed a credit card. I dont have one in my name. So we asked them to put the rental into my husbands name and the lady instead of trying to help the situation and come up with a solution was very confusing. Plus the rates and charges you get charged at the counter are not at all what it says online. Plan on spending tons extra. Also they kept saying we didnt make the reservation through dollar rental when i clearly showed them my reservation # & the site i used... dollar rental .. it was very irritating and the extra 2 hrs in the airport in a car rental line wasnt pleasant either.

We ended up not renting with them, thank goodness. The car rental next to them called ACE helped us get a car fast and affordable plus their customer service were good. I would recommend renting with ACE.

Dollar rent a car Miami Airport has been my worst experience in 53 years with any rental car agency. After a 1 hour wait to get the car, I got to the gate to leave and the attendant sent me back and said the car needs maintenance. When I get back to dollar no it doesnt, go on they say. 5 miles down the road the low tire comes on. Its a slow leak. I call dollar and they say I have to pay $73 dollars to fix it. So I say to all you looking for av rental car in Miami take your dollar elsewhere NEVER use dollar miami airport

IM ACTUALLY SAVING YOUR LIFE WHEN I TELL YOU NOT TO RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!! My family had the worst experience today. We reserved a car a week prior to our vacation, once we got their, no car was found. Here’s what happened:-we were told to wait 30 minutes so they could “find” our car. We ended up waiting 2 hours. THEN they told us it was in a car wash, THEN they told us it was on the third floor. 10 minutes later, we found others complaining about their car. One lady had an infant and her rental smelt like smoke, she complained and they didn’t respond, they just stared. Another person didn’t receive their cat until an hour later (AND IT WAS THEIR HONEYMOON AND RESERVED). AND THEY OFFERED US A SMALL VAN TO REPLACE THE CAR WE RESERVED (it was a disgusting van) don’t know how much worse this can get..-Another note: customer service kept telling us that we didn’t have a reservation, even tho we checked in from the airport AND gave us a confirmation code. If I could rate this company 0/5 stars I would... 1 is too much.
I would like to give a better review, unfortunately the customer service after-the-fact was... well, non-existent. After a family vacation to Florida From Nevada we dropped the vehicle off and hustled to the terminal to make our flight home. As we settled into our seats our son informed us that he couldnt find his cell phone and probably left it in the rental vehicle (despite our repeated admonitions to remove all belongings). At this point, all we could do is sit back and wait till our lay-over to call and see if they could find the phone. This is where things went horribly wrong. Forget trying to actually talk to someone AT the location. We went through the seven rings of phone tree hell, only finding their lost and found department after throwing a bit of a fit. They will only talk to you if you have your rental agreement number - something I didnt have because I rented through Expedia and I didnt think I would need the paperwork after turning the vehicle back in. Finally got directed to file a lost and found claim online, which I did - then heard NOTHING back. I called back a couple times in the following weeks but could never get ahold of anyone that could actually help me. I am pretty sure they dont even HAVE phones in the actual location and if they do you have to possess secret nuclear launch codes to actually get access to those extensions. On one of my calls I was informed that the location had received my claim and that they would be responding within the week. Never happened. I have given up on getting our very expensive iPhone back. I have also determined to never use Dollar Car Rental ever again.
The worst! Choose another company.We spent 25 min in the line to confirm our reservation and 15 min to get the wrong car. They said they couldn’t get the Jeep that I ordered because it had too many cars in front of it.So disorganized!

This is the worst car rental place and it is partnered with thrifty. The customer service was not good and they did not help us get anywhere with our car rental reservation. They forced us to cancel our booking and wasted our time and money. Do do not rent from here, hertz is a better company to rent from in Miami.

First, I got a car with a colony of ants. I have got to spend half of the day to return it. I got another car, and they told me that it was ok to return it without a full tank of gas as an apology. Ive double-checked with the folks at the counter desk that it applied to a new car but not for the old one. Everything went well until I needed to return it. I made a call and extended my return for a few days longer. Also, I verified hours of returning b/c I had an early flight at 5 am, and the customer support service told me that they work 24hr at MIA.It ended up the parking was closed when I arrived at the returning location at MIA, and I got charged an additional $100 for the fuel.Overall, a terrible experience.
Looking at all the bad reviews made me and my fiance so nervous to rent.It was an actual pleasant experience. We could have just checked in and grabbed our car since we signed up for the membership but instead we stood in the regular line for 30mins. Which was our fault, when we got to the counter the lady instructed us that our car was already waiting for us on another floor. When we got to that floor, we were in our reserved car in under 5 mins. It was lightning fast. So for dollar reward members, the process is QUICK. Which is great. We literally were able to skip the counter had we paid attention to the big sign (we didnt). The car was clean, the service quick and we didnt have any extra mysterious charges on our bill that we didnt recognize when we returned it. The reason it gets 4 stars is because its EXPENSIVE. For 4 days it costed 400 dollars..... thats a lot for 4 days. Also if u really want to do tolls it will cost u. 15.00 per toll u enter plus the charges u incur will be added to the bill. Unless u pay for their sunpass at 12.00 per day plus charges u incur with the tolls.......too pricey. And best believe you will return the car at the same time u picked it up not even a minute late, or be charged for an extra day. I guess since they have a Lenient debit card policy, they are making u pay more because not every one holds a credit card. If u dont have a credit card and u need a vehicle this is perfect for u. But if u have a credit card, try somewhere else. Theres also a 200 hold they place on your card during the rental period as well. So as u can see, renting here is expensive. BUT, the service was quick and efficient. Will be rent again? Yes.

We showed up at our reservation time, there were 3 workers including a manager but only one person was actually helping customers with their reservations. The line was incredibly long- 8 people waiting to get their car and just the one overwhelmed agent helping us.Also made the reservation through AAA, which indicated 2nd drivers were free of charge if they too were AAA members. We were charged $60 for adding my wife and the agent could not waive the fee, even after calling a manager for assistance. Took us an extremely long time start to finish, close to an hour.

I had rented a mid-size SUV to run errands and it ended up being too small to fit everything I needed. The Dollar location at the airport doesnt have a phone number so I drove over unannounced and asked if I could switch to a Yukon or Suburban. Maria and Herbert were so nice, walked me around to the vehicles to figure out which size truck was big enough for my needs, and offered to help me move all of the boxes from one rental to the other. I told them I had it covered but I appreciated the gesture. Maria came over to check on me a few times just in case I changed my mind (the switch-over process took about 30 minutes). As I was loading I was watching her work - literally running from one corner of the rental area to the other helping customers, opening doors, and just being a good person. Very pleasant experience!
Worst rental car company, they don’t even wait for late night flights to come in before closing. Do not rent from here, you’ll probably be without a car when you get here.

Fast service. Amazing customer service! They always have great upgrade specials. Vivian was fantastic, great smile and warm personality. I will marry her someday lol. Side note: they put a $200 auth hold on my debit card. Kinda tied my funds up for my trip there but oh well

What a nightmare! sent me toll charges 2 weeks later with a total of 20 administrative fees for $9.99 a per admin fee... $200 worth of administrative fees for $40 worth of tolls? SERIOUSLY? See my photo for proof of this insanity. This is just the one invoice...there was a second invoice for another set of tolls. No warning by the company that you cant pay for the tolls in cash - or that you needed to create a pay-by-plate account so that you dont incur fees. Nothing. Just a $200 bill in the mail... Mind you - $200 is twice what we actually paid for the rental car. What the hell??Update to this review - I contacted dollar and they helped me out by upgrading my rental car to include toll admin fees - I just had to pay the tolls after this.I will add that the front desk clerk at the airport was actually really nice when we were there and it was convenient to get a car, it just wasn’t fair to charge us $200 in admin fees! Thank you for making this right Dollar!
This company was great when I saw they accepted debit cards for anyone under 25. Was not charged any underage fee whatsoever. I booked a full-size sedan for 3 days, with a AAA member discount. My rate for the first 2 days was $74.66, the 3rd day $37.33. with a total of $145.77 tax included, $200 deposit. I never got back my $200 deposit by the way. I called on the 3rd day to get an additional day because I was out of town. I was told its $40 for an additional day. Cool, Then on the 4th day I asked if I can drop the car off a 10 hour after I was initially told by MIA center that it would be $50 extra. I said fine, I called back the customer service line and they told me my total will be $500 because four days is considered 1 week. They eventually charged my card of all expenses $614. They claimed the car was empty, it was on 3 quarters of a tank full, I was charged $114 for that. If my rate is $37 or $38 a day why charge me $300+ for additional hours. I also filed a formal complaint to the Attorney General. Stay away.
Would give NEGATIVE stars is the option existed. Dishonest jerks. After securing a van few weeks ago, we went to pick it us and were told they could not give it to us, because I did not disclose that I was Canadian and hence I do not qualify to the (supposedly better) international rate they committed to. All this charade in an attempt to get another $100 for the 3-day rental. At the end it all worked out for the best because the SixT counter gave us an excellent deal on a better van than Dollar initially contracted for. Steer clear from Miami Dollar.There are far better options in that terminal. Should have read the reviews before ordering....

From check in to check out, the process was seamless!! I was relieved to know they had record of all previous scratches on the car so I wouldnt be charged for them. The car was clean and everything worked fine! It was fully loaded with great features and very spacious! I will definitely rent from Dollar at MIA airport again!!
Right at the airport, no shuttle needed to off site. They had a shuttle to the cruise terminal for free. But only ran every 45 min. On our return trip they never came after waiting an hour, so we took an Uber XL for 28 for all 6 of us. I saw 8 hertz shuttles in that time were waited. Possibly a better choice for a rental company if youre wanting the free shuttle. Quick and easy rental though, and return.
Very easy process. The mini van was perfect. The return was fast and easy and I was greeted with a big smile and asked if everything was to my satisfaction. Happy to say it was. I will definitely rent from Dollar in the future and at this location.
So we booked a GPS and prepaid for it. But its not working at all! Loses the signal all the time. We used it at our first day here and got lost every single time. I sent a bunch of emails. No helpful response. I called like 5 times but it says the number is not in service! So we paid 15$ a day, 185$ in total, for something completely useless! Worst service ever! Never again!

Second awesome experience here! Super quick service, very convenient right in the airport and prices can’t be beat! Could pick any car I wanted. I will be coming back! Service was courteous and always with a smile:) PS I got the sun pass this time. i didn’t get it last time and got charged a whole bunch of fees (2x $25 fee) by the highway although I following google maps no toll directions. Much more convenient.
What has car rental come to? What a terrible experience. First off the rental was pretty expensive. We purchased the rental for my brother-in-law for his honeymoon. They came from Spain and this company absolutely took advantage of them. We got the insurance package and when they got there the salesman tricked them into getting an additional $15 a day insurance that he made them think they would need. Then they were charged for the gas in the tank instead of just returning the car full. And they were again tricked and lied to about the tolls in Florida and told they had to purchase a toll package for $10 a day. And thats not all. They have to return the car washed other wise they will be charged a $75 washing fee. What a crock of SH*T. If I could give zero stars I would. Terrible experience and I will rent from anyone else but Dollar.
Great experience. From the counter to the lot. As I was reviewing my charges, I realized that I was charged more than expected. The manager on staff was able to assist and provide me a full refund of the difference. Great company & great team.

Very well maintained cars. I rented a economy car online. The process was quick and convenient. Once I got to the rental spot in the airport the customer service lady helped me out quickly.You get to choose the car you want to drive in the economy section and they had four different models/makes to choose from. In all the process took me less than 30 mins. The car ran great, it was good on mpg, clean and everything inside worked properly.This is my third time renting with dollar and their prices are really good, $216.96 dollars for 15 days compared to other companies that were asking between 600 and 700 dollars for an economy car rental you cannot beat that oh and did I say well kept cars and no hidden fees its all explained. I would suggest that if you have premium insurance and you can add rentals. Do so because rental insurance is expensive anywhere. But over all my experience with dollar have always been good and affordable.

Everyone knows the car rental center at the Miami international airport is a nightmare for many, but our recent trip takes the cake. Dollar Car Rental is the worst car rental place at the airport. The people were rude. Not helpful, and rushed my daughters through the process. What started as a prepaid car rental of 112.00 for 4 days in a tiny Ford vehicle ended up costing my daughter an additional 400.00 in insurance costs, additional driver, and Toll costs and admin fees. They immediately took this amount off of her debit card ( which by the way they said on the phone that they do not allow debit cards )My daughter had never rented a car before so we had hoped paying for it in advance would help things go smoother. In a nutshell my daughter was rushed through the agreement and was told she had to accept insurance. She was not told about the tolls, so 1 month later we were charged 9.99 for admin fees for each toll. ( The actual toll themselves were under a dollar ) And Dave Ramsey supposedly supports this joke of a company. Pffffttt.
I booked a car at the dollar for 13/10/18. when he arrived at the ticket office, he asked me to pay nearly $ 500 in addition to what I had paid for the reservation. Finally he lowers the price to 400 dollar still too expensive, I call the customer service he explains that I booked by an intermediary company and they can not do anything. I go back to the box office and find a ticket booth that finally offers me to pay nearly $ 300, which I finally accept. Im getting the car and shes not even there, he gives me another one.
DO NOT RENT HERE. Wayne the manager gave us an suv with the check engine light on. When we asked for a working vehicle and he offered an upgrade at $75 more- “it was all he had”. Option B was take the broken vehicle and wait for their roadside assistance outside the airport (bad neighborhood)! 3 sweaty hours later with 4 very cranky kids and a crying baby, someone under him found us an suv and secretly allowed us to have it. PRETTY SAD. Wayne needs fired. * This was for a one day rental!*

I did put full tank of gas in Miami its 2.89$. But drove to airoport and spend a little bit. They charge 11$ per gallon, and told me I have to pay for 2 gallons, it was a little of to full tank. Be careful.Noone said, it will be that much per gallon, I want to go back and put gas but they already close the contract and not aloud.
I made a claim because they charged me for the insurance that I never asked for, they never answered me with a solution. I never recommend this company ... a thousand times I recommend ALAMO
Absolutely wonderful experience ! I was very hesitant after reading all the consumer complaints and this company had less than 2 stars. I needed a company that would work with a debit card, and they did just that! I was given a brand new 2019 Dodge Charger at a reasonable rate and no crazy requirements because of a debit card. Dory was the person who helped me at the front desk. She was very polite, professional and got me set up with a sweet ride. When I went into the garage, the car I requested was gone, so Nora stepped in and got me into a a beautiful Hemi Charger. I could not be happier .

After having a pre-paid rental by Expedia the indian guy from desk tricked me about LIS insurance to purchase which he said is mandatory in FL. No dude is NOT and you ripped me off. My last rental with Dollar due to this liar. I asked him three times and he said yes is mandatory.Be aware! Ask always for a manager. My mistake. I lost $750 because having a long rental.

I picked up at the Miami Airport 5 days ago. It is truly fast only if you are a Dollar Express Member. It took me less than 5 minutes as everything was done on-line. You go straight to the second floor, they have your name up and you pick-up your car. They verify your credit card and off you go ! For drop off, same thing, they scan the vehicle ID and provide you with your paper receipt, later you get an email copy. This was easy because of Dollar Express Membership, just do it !
Quick and easy service, helpful staff, brand new car and and overall wonderful experience. I dont think that the people who have already reviewed understand how car renting works. The price you get on the Internet is always an estimated price and does not include any taxes or service charges, which are always high when renting at any airport. Also in Florida, especially in Miami or Orlando, having the unlimited PlatePass makes any journey hassle-free.
This was my first time renting with them. I reserved my van online 2 days before pick up. Luckily when I went there was no line so I was helped immediately. She let me know some important details in regards to insurance and gas and sent me on my way in a short amount of time. The process was simple and quick. I picked up and dropped off at the Miami International Airport location.
Easy in, easy out. Staff was friendly. Be prepared with directions upon exiting airport. Was a little confusing to me.
The worts company to rent a car. They have stolen our money and didn’t want to accept it. A lot of problems and the employers treat us with lack of respect!I don’t recommend this company!

I arrived at the counter 30 min past my expected pick up time as I had not anticipated the time it would take to get there after picking up my bags. I arrived to the counter, confirming that they had my reservation, and was told that, because I hadnt yet paid, they didnt have a car for me. I had made my reservation online and payment was not required. The employee told me that the wash had been shut down for two hours and they had no cars for at least 1 or 2 hours. There were others waiting, and there didnt seem to be any type of order as to who would actually get cars. I had been traveling all day and had someone waiting for me and was not in a position to wait for a car that I didnt even know would be available. She, the employee, said I could check at a different company. I did, and prices were almost twice as much as what I had reserved through Priceline with Dollar. I told the employee this and asked if she could give me an upgrade or some type of accommodation. She was completely unconcerned and said she couldnt do that because she didnt know what cars would be available. She didnt care whatsoever if they lost business. I ended up renting a car through Budget, and it was twice the price I had been quoted with Dollar. Their customer service is non existent. I am appalled and will not do business with Dollar again.
Customer service person at the desk walked away and went on break while helping me. TERRIBLE SERVICE, TERRIBLE STAFF. DO NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS. BASICALLY TOLD ME TO FIGURE IT OUT MYSELF AND GO SCREW MYSELF. NEVER WILL I BE RENTING FROM DOLLAR. HORRIBLE.
Worst experience ever. Had reservation with a depot. They decide to void it and offer a new reservation at 600$ instead of the 200$ agreed. I was not the only one...they did the same trick for 3 other couples in line before me. Dont ever ever and ever do business with them. Now i have to fight to have my depot back.

Drove 80 miles and charged 70 USD in gas fees when returned. I usually use Alamo but decided too try them out. They think they are smart but I would never use them again. Lost customer forever.

Terrible staff and attitude when checked in. Tricked me to order 5 days toll pass which I discovered later the toll road to my destination can be paid in the highway station by cash. After returned the car, I received a receipt where I had been charged $15 more mysteriously over the estimated charge. Even comparing the itemized charges, I could not figure out what is this $15 for. Their price seems better in the first place when you book it, but it would go much higher when you return the car.....unbelievable! Would never use it again and recommend everyone to stay away from it. Dont be entrapped by their seemingly lower estimated price.
Pick any car and the lane and go was quick and easy, drop off the same. Only issue was the hard sell on a Sunpass by the clerk at the counter. Its very useful, but at $11 per day it was not necessary. Far too pushy, felt like she was selling a time share.
Arrived and they had the longest line. We had to wait over 2 hours to get our rental. Go to enterprise, hertz or any other company. They had no lines
I wish I could leave a review with zero stars, not even one star is deserved. WORST experience we have ever had with a rental car. First, the guy at the desk was extremely rude. If you dont like your job, find another one - dont take it out on paying customers. Second, we got our car and it was filthy on the inside. There was something brown splattered across the ceiling, and something sticky on the emergency brake. Then I get to my hotel and check my bank account and theyre holding $250 out of my account. This is a car I had already paid for a month and a half ago, and thats more than I even paid for the rental. That was almost the price for the rental AND airfare for both my partner and I. Also, it was not even disclosed to me that a hold would be placed on my account for the duration of the rental. If I had been told that, I couldve given them a credit card instead of my debit card. When I called their customer support, the only options the woman gave me were to go back to the airport to change my payment information, which was 35 minutes from my hotel and getting into and out of an airport is awful anyway, OR I could call and make a request for the refund once I return the car. Which doesnt make sense, because its just a hold - it will be released once I return the car with or without the request. It was just a terrible experience, overall. I dont recommend Dollar to anyone, ever. I think its safe to say that I will NEVER use them ever again. I usually use Enterprise and I will never rent from anyone but Enterprise ever again. I went with Dollar because it was a little cheaper, but I guess that just goes to show that you get what you pay for.
I was trying to get some information about the deposits and things for Miami location angel picked up the phone is was very rude hung up on us 3 times just a horrible customer service experience never again glad we didn’t rent from here

Super easy to rent specially if you are a dollar express member. Also, great choice of car - Toyota Camry and super easy to return too. Use Waze though to get back to the rental car location as the main entry is totally jammed most of the time.
Rent a car and they add a lot of other products that I didn’t ask about. I just saw this charges after arrive at the hotel. Tried to connect with them by phone, but It was impossible!!!! Terrible assistance. Terrible customer service.
Dollar will charge you an Authorization to your credit card and not return the funds to your visa. I called them and waited on hold for 30mins + and the rude lady couldnt wait for one min for me to call my bank knowing I waited so long already, she said her call volume was to high? So get more people to work, you are charging people up the ass for a car rental compared to the other companies. Then they make you call your bank just to call them back to sit on hold for another half hour? Why pay this company when they cant even treat you like a valued customer!
Beware! They charge an addition $10.49 per day for a toll pass regardless if you use it or not. They offer another option which is to go though a $0.25 toll but to get a $15.00 administrative fee for each toll you pass and tolls in Florida are cheap but they do not take cash. Or dont use tolls.It is not clear when you reserve the car. They prey on foreigners and out-of-towners. They only tell you this at the desk when you are ready to pick-up the car. Customer service said too bad - its a revenue stream. Yes, that is obvious. It is a hoodwinking of customers.Id recommend Sixt or Enterprise who only charge you for the tolls you use. At least they dont steal your money like Dollar does. Will never rent from them again!
Wont rent for 19 yr old with debit card
Just returned and yes they try to rip you off for extras any way they can. Our bill actually showed we were charged for two GPS systems. Arrived late at night from UK. Refused extra insurance as already paid via UK. Asked if car had GPS and told no so were charged $14.99 a day for one. On picking car we found that GPS was integral in the car so took the GPS back, also went back as i wanted to be the driver. Asked if i could be the driver and take my wife off...no was the answer and we were charged extra per day for someone who did not drive at all. They took the GPS back but then told me not to use the GPS in the car as it would be more. I said OK. On trying to exit the car park the front desk called down and got the person to charge me for the integral GPS. With four tired kids i agreed just to get going. Next day i found they had actually charged me for two. One at $14.99 a day, the other at $16.99 a day!!! All a rip off. Check in advance. Being ripped off ruins your holiday. I will be much more careful in future. Not a good friendly experience. Just felt totally conned. Welcome to USA! Shame i cant give no stars
DO NOT RENT from this place. We were flying into Miami for a long weekend and reserved a car several weeks prior to the trip. We landed in Miami at 11PM on a THURSDAY and went straight to the counter pretty quickly as the airport was very empty. There were only 2 people working (each had a customer) which was expected at this time of the evening, but what I didnt expect was to wait over 30 minutes to get to the counter when I was next in line! When I finally made it to the counter, I gave the guy the reservation number he typed a bit and then said, I just have to inform you that we have a wait. I asked how long of a wait and he said.... ABOUT TWO HOURS. I asked him why would a person with a reservation have to wait for a car at all especially at midnight on a Thursday... much less TWO HOURS. He said, Theres just a wait. His attitude was lacking any emotion at all. Immediately, my husband said, That guy just said about two hours... I feel like in two hours, we will still be waiting for a car... The guy at the counter did not even try to deny it when I looked at him. We immediately cancelled our reservation and walked across the way and rented a car from National. Our experience with National was BY FAR the BEST experience we have had in our many years of renting cars.From the time we got to the National counter to the time we were in the rental car was a total of like 7 minutes. National Car Rental really improved what almost became a crappy start to a vacation.Since telling people of my Dollar experience, I have heard several times that they like to over-book people and that this happens quite often.
