Good place to work out. New machines, and has a big area to explore.I dont like the channels they choose on TVs. I know some people dont pay attention when exercising, but some do.But, so far so good!
I work out at night. The night staff is good, moreover this is like an old school gym. Almost old school. Machines, devices, weights. No time for sissy complaints. You go there to work out. And you can get a shake, whereas planet fitness you cant. PF has 4 smith machines, 2 are closed due to COVID. Choice has FOUR squat racks and EIGHT different Pectoral benches. Thats just the first difference. You can build actual muscle here, and the supplement store has someone who knows the science of muscle building. Thats the old damn point. Sorry, no flowers in the bathroom...
Has plentiful amount of equipment, well worth the monthly fee.
It is my first day of gym, I just signed up and I come to train and the gym is closed, leave a lot to say.
They have very respectful young men and women i love that place
Overall as a gym, the machines are good and it’s convenient if you live in the area. As far as management goes, Terrible! No flexibility to work with customers even during the pandemic, continued charges and huge cancellation fees. Stuck paying for a gym even though it was closed, and now paying for it even though I’m unable to use it.Find a better chain as an alternative
They are scam artistsAt the beginning you will pay normally whatever it is for month and then at the third month you gonna pay 60$ plus the monthly feeAnd when you plan to leave they will tell you you have to finish the year with us in order to do that when the year is finished they will say we will charge you for one more month and they will charge you extraThey are a ripoff place
This place is the worst gym the communication of this establishment is terrible and the employees don’t know anything the manger are never there to ever answer any of my questions 1 year ago I tried to cancel my account which I thought they did but because they don’t know how to train there employees I got mailed a letter from debt collectors so if you want to be in debt and be charged unnecessary fees go ahead and go to this gym but just know this gym is money hungry bastered who like to leach off people
Havent been to the other ones that they have only the Lowell one.. Been told the others they keep them up better meaning machine if there are broken and cleaning if the area but not always the workers fault..With this covid-19 around its the cleanest that Ive seen the gym has been..But it has all the things I need for a gym.. So Im happy with it..
This is my second home!!! I love all the workers lmao well most of them lol.
Always clean, friendly staff and excellent low rates. I very rarely have to wait for equipment and the hours of operation are great. There is also a supplement store next door for convenience.
I agree with the last review the manager Scott is a total creep. I’m a member and can handle myself and the actual gym I like but it’s definitely not somewhere I’d allow my teen daughter to work out
Has most everything you need. Has a turf field which is clutch to me. Can have a long wait during peak hours on specialty machines
I got out at work at 12 am . I wish I can stop by to exercise till 2 am .
I have been going to this gym for about 7 months now. I have been a gym goer off and on for about 10 years, pretty consistently. I have grown very comfortable here and for the first time started working with a trainer (Rich). In 6 months I saw a ton of change, lost 1.5 inches off my hips and 2.5 inches off my waist. I feel stronger and healthier and can keep up better in outside activities I enjoy like hiking, biking, and horse back riding. I would definitely recommend it. Never over crowded if you go during the day or early afternoon. Its always clean, and the price is perfect.
I was a member of the gym since the days it was called Mill City Fitness until last June when I cancelled my membership. After filling out my cancellation form with Scott, I put the receipt in my car and went on about my life. Earlier this year, I checked my credit report out and saw that I had a $190 collection from the gym. After talking to the gym manager Scott, it was shown that not only was my membership not cancelled, but I was on the hook for full years worth of gym membership fees because the credit card information on file was not working, they couldnt reach me at my old address and did not have my phone number in their system. After brining in some paperwork showing that I had paid my dues on time every month for years before that June, and even showing that I used my new then and current now bankcard to pay my final yearly membership fee and final month (Being that if I still want to be at the gym I would of gave them my updated credit-card information), I was still on the hook for the money.Scotts boss told him that he would settle debt if I had that original receipt. Realizing that I had thrown that away months before cleaning my car, I said that that wouldnt be impossible. Scott got on hold with his boss who told me that he would settle for a little less than half the price, $75. After a month of saving up, I paid it off and still have that receipt. The lesson you need to learn about this gym is that its not a bad gym, the machines are OK, its in a shady neighborhood, but its a decent gym.Just make sure you keep EVERY single document from this place. Their record keeping protocol is substandard, so be warned!
Great experience with the trainers, Rich and Doug, at Choice Lowell. They know how to push me just enough in workouts based on my age and current fitness level, no cookie cutter workouts. I particularly like the nutritional consultation. My challenge is to change up my approach to nutrition along with exercise and they are knowledgeable in both areas.
Horrible staff and management. My keys were stolen off there key rack and the person went and stole out of my car and left the keys on my seat.. It was late nite and my keys were the only set of keys on the board, in which there is a note stating (smile your on camera). The front desk guy was no where to be seen, when I found him and told him he didnt seem to care and never reported the incident to his manager. I came in the next day to report it to the manager. He didnt seem to care that a paying guest were getting things stolen from a place that there supposed to be safe and under surveillance. He told me he was gonna check the cameras. When he checked the cameras he tells me that they were not facing the key rack. Those are signs of a inside job. Very disappointed. I dont recommend anyone go there. There all sketchy unprofessional people.
Steve is awesome. Very reasonable and thoughtful. I relocated and had to cancel my membership and he was very responsive and understanding. As far as the gym, while i belonged, it has a TON of cardio machines and a very spacious weight area. The area is a little dodgy but you are safe inside! I guess my only area of improvement would be to offer more classes!
It works and flexible and they take all steps during the pandemic
I sent a letter as the manager Steve asked me to, to cancel my policy after 1 year. They keep charging me.
I love to workout their.. the ower is very nice and the place is always well maintained.
Great atmosphere great people Great place to work out and achive your goals. Weather you want to bulk be athletic or just stay tone. Excellent Gym
Strong recommendation don’t join this gym after I told them I’m not longer interested in them they charged me $200 in three days and they haven’t stopped which is nonsense 😡
If you want to reach your fitness goals this is the place to do it! The CFX training program is great for beginners and people with prior lifting experience. The trainers are great they explain each exercise and show you proper form to ensure efficiency and safety, they also push and motivate you to reach your goals, I’ve been committed to the program for a month and already seeing results!
Gym itself is decent but the membership system is a total scam. I moved three months ago and had the hardest time canceling my membership as I was told (for the first time) that I am under 1yr contract and had to show proof of my new address to cancel my membership. Once I did that, it took another 30 days to reach their HQ, then another 30 days to cancel the membership. So I was charged for two months that I did not attend this gym! I should’ve just canceled my credit card!
CFX trainers provide flexible and effective workouts for people at every level! This setting allows us to encourage each other in a group while also receiving personal feedback on our form and injury prevention. Definitely recommend :)
Awesome gym to be a member!I have been going here for a couple of years now and I have had no issues. About two months ago I started working out with one of their trainers (Rich). I have seen great results within these past two months and I cannot wait to see whats to come in the future! This gym is also growing significantly from the past few months, they have added classes and new equipment. I would recommend this gym and its personal training program!
Management is a couple of try hard dorks mad at anyone bigger or stronger than them. Cool place if you like to pee in sinks
If i could give 0 stars i would!! management and employees are the worst!they all lie manager Scott is extremely rude .. i froze my account and was given wrong info i was then charged before the date they gave me to be able to make changes to my account .. i decided to go in and cancel membership manager supposedly was never there ..left notes called and never ever received call back and was then charged again.. no one knows who said what they dont take responsibility at all for the misleading information they give..their answer is well im sorry but i cant do nothing about it i dont know who said what or who did what,,, stay away from this gym!!!
This place is the mutts nuts. All the equipment, tons of weights, loads of room and there is even a protein shake bar. Theres a quiet room upstairs if you dont want too much company for your workout plus they run some classes. Even at peak meathead hour (5-6pm) you can still get a decent workout and the other gym users are generally pretty nice. Also included: a CrossFit zone, two punchbags, sauna and a whole load of mirrors by the free weights.
Hi!I love coming to this gym for several reasons: the people are very friendly, the gym is extremely clean and the equipment is in good working order. In addition, new features like the grass area have been added to enhance training. I have been a member of this gym for a long time and during the previous owners, it was lacking the quality and training that is available now.I am very lucky to have the best trainer, Melissa Mejia! Under the previous owners, training and trainers were a hit and miss issue, mostly late or missing for sessions.I just want to say that being a member of this gym now under this management has made a big difference in the way I feel and live my life! At 74 I am in better shape than I have been for a long time. Thank you! Catherine Rourke
Majority of the staff is completely rude. A couple of the managers are kind and know how to do their job but their staff are completely unprofessional. Their hours are never consistent what they say online is never accurate to when they’re actually open. They advertise a 24 gym in reality they’re open 24 hours 3 out of 7 days a week which happen to be the least convenient ones. I can’t count on one hand the amount of times they have supposed to be open and I’ve showed up to use the gym and the place was closed. The tanning bed rooms are always dirty. The only reason I continue to use this facility is out of convenience and the 2 staff members that have actually made any experience there enjoyable.
My Friends introduced me to this gym, and l decided to join after seeing their transformation. They spoke highly of their trainer (rich), and that motivated me to start working with the same trainer (rich Curran) last month (December 2016). At first I was skeptical, but after meeting and talking to him, I felt comfortable going over my fitness goals and lifestyle changes that I needed to make. This trainer knows his stuff, and tailors a fitness workout based on your fitness goals. Its been a month so far, and my energy level has improved, as well as my eating habits. Overall, this gym is clean, and the staff is friendly. Id highly recommend this gym and this trainer, to anyone serious about getting fit.
Very dishonest gym.. Dont believe what they tell you when you join about payment details, they will decieve you to get more money, especially after your first year. VERY DISAPPOINTED
Training at Choice Fitness has been a terrific experience. I have learned to incorporate new ways of exercising into my routine, making training fun. Melissa is a wonderful trainer and always looks out for my wellbeing. I have been given advise on lots of healthy nutrition ideas and its been a blessing. Thanks to Choice I have a renewed feeling about fitness and its importance. Great place and great people!!
Great customer service
I went to this fitness center last November for a one-year membership. The guy at the front desk let me sign my signature on a screen, and said it was all done without giving me any copy. Today I find out the membership is actually two-year. And they tell me to come back on Monday to talk to their owner. I have a feeling this is just another fraud and stall trick. I will update this review after I hear back from Choice. Update: It was resolved without any problem.
Never been there personally but for what I can see it looks like a very nice place price is good too not expensive
Great place to workout peacefully
Friendly staff, very clean place
I first joined Choice Fitness of Lowell September 2016 and have had an exceptional experience. Covering the basics, the price is great, they clean everyday, and the staff are friendly.During this time I also decided to work with personal fitness trainer Rich. For 4 months we meet twice a week. I came in with strong lungs from cycling, but lacked any additional physical strength. Taking a functional training approach I was able to gain of 6 lbs of muscle. For the first month I was a little skeptical as we were not working out with the rest of the gym folks(bench press, squat rack). Rich had me doing resistance training through use of my own body weight and kettle bells. Fair enough, I had no muscular foundation. After 3 months, I told Rich I wanted to start doing some of the heavy lifting. With my solid foundation we were able to incorporate some of the pure strength movements. ie(bench press, squat racks, deadlifts). The workouts were physically and mentally demanding. Every time, I was drenched in sweat. I now have a great foundation of strength of which I will keep building on. Put in the time, eat clean, eat protein, see Rich and you wont regret.I would recommend the gym swapping out one of the many bench press machines for an additional squat rack.
Awesome gym! Very clean and well kept. Wide variety of machines and just an overall great gym.
Choice Fitness in Lowell has:1) An excellent personal-training program. The dedicated personal training area is clean and spacious, has a lot of good equipment, including multiple TRX systems. They offer really diverse classes that give you a whole body workout, and leave you knowing you just worked your butt off!1a) Several trainers, and my personal favorite is Melissa Meija. She really takes the time to understand your goals, and pays close attention any (current or past) injuries you have that need special attention and makes sure to provide exercises that strengthen the muscles that help you recover from those injuries. She also takes the time to explain WHY you need to do certain exercises, and why they must be done a certain way. You can tell she really cares about her clients.2) plenty of parking, and is very conveniently located near the downtown3) a lot of equipment, so there are plenty of machines available when you want to use them.4) equipment in excellent condition. They are continually upgrading, repairing and replacing equipment and bringing in new technology all of the time.5) probably the best monthly rate imaginable. Less than $20/month for all access. $20/month and you can go to any of their locations.6) clean and spacious locker rooms, showers, and bathrooms.7) friendly staff, and the members are friendly, too. I do not feel uncomfortable working out there at all!
The staff is not engaged in cleanliness of the gym or equipment at all. The cleaning supplies are not maintained very well.
Nice
Good gym but it has some out dated machines and repairs are a but slow. Also can be a bit crowded at times. Lastly dumbells only go up to 110. Great gym to start out with but for serious lifters it may be a little bit unsatisfactory.
The variety of equipment is great for strength training and cardio. Newly updated the dumbell racks with heavy rubber padded dumbells. Even has a deadlift station and a punching bag area. Gets quite busy after work but in the morning its great!
Great gym everything you could need plus open 24 hrs during the week
Cant go wrong with this gym
Comfortable atmosphere. Helpful employees
Do not sign up with Choice Fitness in Lowell!! I signed up for one year. I was told they would be adding tons of classes and new trainers. That did not happen so I asked Steve to void my contract. I was told no way that was going to happen and that I could drive to Chelmsford! I had to go into the gym to cancel, even though my signed contract was for one year. They have no record of my cancellation so I have to go in again and cannot get my funds back. This is the worst business I have ever dealt with.
Kinda dirty and wierd vibes. No good atmosphere.
Started going to this gym a few months ago and it is great! I wasnt really a gym person but I wanted to get in shape. I walked in not knowing what to do but I found a CFX class, a full body, high intensity class led by one of the trainers, and it was absolutely worth it. It meets several times a week and theres always new exercises. They tell you what to do and how to do it. The trainers are great and made sure that I was doing everything correctly. Without this class I probably wouldve stopped going in a few weeks and wouldve just been wasting money. Absolutely recommend to anyone trying to get into shape but isnt sure how.
I have worked out at a lot of gyms from here to California. This place has great atmosphere good equipment and great staff everyone always polite.
Lots of equipment. Machines and free weights. Large cardio area.
I really liked this gym because it was quiet had good machines and equipment and space to do whatever . It also is cool enough to work out.
The gym is well outfitted and busy, reasonably priced. The trainers are great!
Great gym
I have been a member of this gym since 2006 (Different names: Powerhouse Gym, Mill City Fitness). The front desk has always been very friendly and helpful whenever I have needed something. The members who go to this facility are also friendly. I enjoy coming to work out knowing the people I will be around.I have trained with Melissa for the passed 3 years. She is knowledgeable, motivating and understanding of my training needs (dancer, runner, Zumba instructor). I have seen real results after working with Melissa (muscle tone). She is also very helpful in terms of guiding me in the right direction for nutrition before and after a workout. She takes the time to get to know each client individually and works with their needs specifically. #ilovemychoice #choicelowell
Place is huge with newer equipment, just wish it was in a more convenient location. Traffic can be a nightmare sometimes.
I closed my account with them and now two months later they put a strike against me and my credit score. very very bad company do not ever go here.
People there are cool good amount of equipment
Very good GYM thank you
This gyms policies are terrible.I Had a terrible experience with them when I moved away from the Chelmsford area. They locked me in to a 1 year contract requiring me to continue paying for their services despite having moved away outside a 25 mile radius.Even after emailing AND mailing out required documents they have continued to charge me on a monthly basis.Strongly recommend NOT to join this GYM.
Flex Appeal inside the gym has good fair prices and protien bars are cheaper than other competitors prices. Ask for Angel to set you up 👍
Before it was Choice Fitness it was Mill City. I didnt think there would be a big change but I was wrong! I have not done any of the classes such as yoga, HIIT or Zumba but I did try out their CFX classes. I tried it with a friend during a free month trial and loved it! I have been taking the classes for almost 4 months now and STILL love it (which I usually get bored easily). But this class switches it up with different workouts (cardio and strength training). It is also for all levels which I really like. The trainers Melissa and Amanda are so helpful and explain each workout as well as go at the pace you need yet still pushing you to your limit. Rich is also always available for any questions and always giving a warm welcome! :)
Is great, people are friendly
Cant really give a 5 star, equipments are good.
Lots of equipment, Very clean, and friendly staff. A great place to work out.
Not to crowded plenty of machines and free weights
