I cannot recommend this place enough. I have taken every single dog of mine here, over a span of 16 years. They are trustworthy and they genuinely care about you and your fur babies. Everyone on their staff are so friendly, the techs and receptionist are pleasant to speak to. The tech, Jordyn, is so beyond helpful and got me in as soon as possible for my recent new addition. Thank you so much for all that you do!
If I could give this place Zero Stars I would. I had to put my beloved dog Bogey down yesterday due to this Vets negligence and extreme irresponsibility as far as I am concerned. I am heartbroken and very angry as to the reason my Bogey died. I actually called their office yesterday morning and tried to get an appointment because my dog was very sick. I ended up taking him to Blue Pearl and then we were transferred to Metropolitan where he was eventually put to sleep an hour later. We are devastated with his loss. Bogey was diagnosed with Leptospirosis. It is a bacterial infection that spreads through the bloodstream. Dogs can get leptospirosis from puddles or bodies of water that carry urine from infected wildlife. Both Blue Pearl and Metro Doctors asked if Bogy had received the Lepto vaccine. I had never heard of it. I am furiously angry to find out now that there was a vaccine that could have prevented Bogeys death. Neither Dr. John nor any other doctor/staff at this office never, ever informed me about this vaccine. Even worse, Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease, which means it can spread from animals to people. So now I have to worry about not only my other pets but me and my family as well. Please heed this warning and get your pets vaccinated for this infectious disease. We lost a beloved family member, my granddaughter lost her protector and my husband lost his best buddy.I have no confidence with Dr. Johns Pet Clinic in their ability to administer the best care for animals.
I have been taking my dog here for 5 years and while I have always had good things to say in the past, I’ve unfortunately noticed a huge shift for the worse in the past year and I will now be taking my dog elsewhere. My dog has never had any serious medical issue, just routine visits and nail trims. Several months ago my dog was sick (vomiting, cough, diarrhea) and when I called and explained her symptoms, I was told the first available appointment was in 3 weeks...at which point she obviously wouldn’t be sick by then, so that wasn’t helpful in the slightest. And when I asked if there was any medicine they could give me, they said she must be seen to prescribe medicine. So again, completely unhelpful. Also, my boyfriend’s dog had the same symptoms at the time and his vet immediately prescribed medicine for him to pick up that day, no appointment necessary. I’ve always had my dog’s nails trimmed here, as she has to be medicated and hates nail trims, and when I called recently, I was told they “no longer do nail trims unless the appointment is booked with an office visit for an additional reason”. I was shocked. What vet suddenly just doesn’t do nail trims? Sounds to me like they just want to make more money, which is extremely disappointing. All that to say, there has been a huge shift in the way they operate over the past year and they will not work with you to get you in for an appointment. Sadly, we will be leaving.
I have a pit mix that has severe anxiety about nail trims and I have tried to find MANY different ways/professionals that could help and failed. Dr Johns staff was incredibly calming to me and my pup when we first had an appointment and got him in and out without any hassle! The staff clearly care a lot, the quality of care is extremely high and the cost is a lot lower than anywhere else in Louisville. Highly recommend!
We have been taking our dog here since she’s been born (11 years). I would recommend Dr. Johns to anyone I knew. We truly believe she gets the best care possible here.
First unable to actually commutate with vet.. All info goes to vet tech only!! My questions seemed difficult for tech to answer the questions or comes back “ I forgot to ask, the vet,”. 🤔🤔🤔.... REALLY!!! I’m in a rough situation with a sick cat I rescued from the streets I don’t have a baseline of any prior knowledge of the cats health ... the cat did get rabies and feline vaccinations.. but I had to put in a phone call to vet, whom also went threw to someone else relating the “ messages.” In regards to behavioral issues and anxiety the cat is nonstop constant whining the cat does which is not normal behavior plus other behavior issues not address after paying $188.00 dollars for “ vet care” so very disappointed that I feel this vet only care about $$$$ and not the animals! Sorry I guess I take him back to Walmart vet .. they may not be a full service vet but the customer service is a lot of hell better than Dr John!!!!!!!!!😤😤😤
Called over two weeks ago to get an appointment set. Called back today to let them know needed to get the appointment rescheduled. I was told they didn’t show the appointment, and they wanted to blame me for the appointment not being there. The staff has been very difficult to deal with. They have refused to do their job and they have refused to rectify the situation. They refuse to send pet records when you request them. They refuse to provide the information that is needed. They will be being reported to the better business bureau as well.
Dr. John’s came very highly recommended to us from friends who also have goldendoodles so we didn’t bother looking at other vets and we regret that. We’ve been seeing them for 2 years and our dogs initial care was good and affordable (vaccines, etc.) but when we started to see them for some different problems she’s been having, they always have given us awful advice. One incident led us to the take our dog to the ER because of a wrong diagnoses/bad advice and we spent a ton of money when it was something completely different with an easy fix. I understand that mistakes happen but they didn’t even bother to look at her or anything, they just rushed to a conclusion. We had other incidents where we would ask them about problems at her check ups and they’d also just brush it off without even looking at it and give us advice that was wrong (we know this after consulting other vets) and again, they caused us to spend a bunch of money on things that other vets knew wouldn’t work. In general, all of our appointments feel like we’re rushed out the door and not taken care of which shouldn’t be the case since we spend a lot of money just on the appointments alone. We definitely won’t be coming back here which is a bummer because the staff are really nice.
The staff is so sooooooo nice. AND it’s the cheapest vet I’ve been to. I can’t wait for the clinics to come back so I can get nail trims more easily.
We take both of our small dogs here. We started with the after hours clinic at Feeders supply for just shots and nail trims. Now we have been for one major dental cleaning and just scheduled our other dogs dental cleaning and exam.
First time at the clinic they were super friendly and efficient. We arrived early they went ahead and took my dog back, and we were in and out very quickly. They asked questions and provided us with quick answers and solutions to help our pup!
The BEST vet in Louisville - Hands down. Weve taken our two dogs here for about 4 years, and theyve always taken amazing care of them. We have a white German Shepherd who is terrified of strangers, and theyre so kind and gentle with her. Theyre extremely responsive, very affordable, and they never hesitate to answer any questions we may have. They operate out of Feeders Supply locations throughout the week in addition to their clinic hours and its amazing - I think it provides many people with convenient access to a vet who may have otherwise not gone. The receptionist desk, assistants, and the Drs themselves all absolutely bust their butt for customers, and it really, really shows. Ive never seen service better than what they provide!
I dont care for this place at all. We went here once 7 years ago after we moved to the area, our once sweet and calm dog was all the sudden aggressive and trying to bite the vet according to them (we were asked to wait out of the room) Once we came in they were being very forceful to our dog and I am sure they scared the hell out of him. We were told he needs sedatives before he would be allowed back. This dog never had aggression a day in his life. We lost that dog shortly after this (unrelated)Fast forward to today, we have a new puppy and just needed a rabbis shot and his nails trimmed. This new dog is so kind and calm (labradoodle) and only a few months old, again they take the dog back without us and minutes later you could hear him crying and then they come out saying he became aggressive with them. When our dog came out you could tell he was scared of them and hiding behind us This seemed all too familiar, how does a calm puppy that lets kids hang all over him become aggressive so quickly? The last time we did his shots and nails at petsmart he just sat there wagging his tail, I know they were too rough with him when we heard him crying out. I dont know why we went back there but it wont happen again, these people are clearly not animal lovers. Outside of the overly rough treatment of animals I dont think the staff eception are very easy to deal with either. They are also horrible on trying to up sell. Those sedatives they say we needed for the return trips.. over $100. They also will try and sell tons of services and extra meds the dog doesnt need. Look elsewhere people, so many better options in the area at the same prices.
I love this place. They’ve taken great care of my fur baby since he was a puppy. I always recommend Dr. John’s to everyone in need of a reliable vet. :)
I recently moved to Louisville from out of state and was already a very nervous pet mom as my pup has been to the same amazing vet ever since she was born. I went into to Dr. Johns to get my pup a due vaccination as well as a routine wellness exam.I sat in the waiting area for almost an hour (after having this appointment set for about 3 weeks) and watched as the chaos unfolded. While the doctor did pop in and seemed very pleasant, the staff was overwhelmed and under enthusiastic.Anyway, after waiting for almost an hour I was brought into a room where I was told (as a brand new patient mind you) that my pup could receive the vaccination as planned but the doctor would not have time to examine her. I honestly fully regret allowing them to even touch my little one since they did not know anything about her medical history, but I did permit them to give her the vaccination.I was then rushed out, charged, and not given so much as an apology. The lady at the front desk even remarked to the guy that gave the vaccination that my pup was a new patient and the vaccination should not have been done without a exam. To which his reply was, were just too busy. Although this conversation was said right in front of me, nothing was said directly to me.To be fair, based on other reviews (and my brief encounters with him) Im sure Dr. John is great. However you only get a first impression once and unfortunately mine was not a good one. I will not be returning.
This place is so wonderful! I have been taking my pups here for awhile and they treat them so well. The receptionists are always so sweet and are happy to help me with any issues or questions I may have. The technicians love my fur babies as well. Dr John’s, you have an amazing team of people! So thankful for you all and your long hours you put in to help everyone.
Friendly staff the Vets are awesome. I have been going here for 6 yrs. I recommend to anyone. We used to go to a much more expensive vet and the exam we receive at Dr. Johns is more detailed. My dog Seamus loves the staff.
Always a great experience when we visit Dr. John’s Pet Care Clinic! They have taken care of our two fur babies for over 7 years now and we couldn’t be more pleased! Staff is always very helpful and go above and beyond to make sure our appointments run smoothly and efficiently. We won’t go anywhere else!
They are honestly the best vet in town. Super friendly and easy to work with.
I came to visit my daughter when my dog Bailey became ill. I called my vet where I live and they said for me to take Bailey to a vet in Louisville. My daughter gave me the number of Dr. Johns Pet Clinic. I explained my situation and received a quick appointment. The staff is absolutely wonderful. I felt this from the first moment I walked in. They were very concerned, explained everything that needed to be done. I’m forever grateful to them. Louisville is so lucky to have such an amazing place to take your pets for care.Thank you so much for taking great care of Bailey..Kathy Axton
Chewy and I love this place! The staff and doctors are friendly and they don’t try to nickel and dime you . Those two things mean a lot to us! The prices are fair and I trust their judgement. So far nothing but positive things to say.
I take all of my pets here. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They have the best prices and they make sure all of your concerns are taken care of. I highly recommend taking your pets here!
The staff were very knowledgeable and could handle my big furbabies...
I brought My dog “Brownie” in for a routine visit. The receptionist were sweet and the tech staff was very knowledgeable even schooled me on some things i did not know. Dr John examined her personally and noticed right away some changes we needed to make so Brownie has a long healthy life. Great experience will def be returning.
I normally do not give reviews but I really feel like I need to share. I love taking my dogs & cats to Dr Johns, all of the vets, techs, & all of the receptionists are wonderful except the one older lady. She is always rude on the phone & in person, makes you feel like she’s doing you a favor or she is “put out” when she waits on you.If I didn’t love, trust & have complete confidence in the care that my fur babies get @ Dr Johns, I would rip into that old hag & go somewhere else.!!She needs to take a class in customer service or better yet, find a new job that doesn’t involve dealing with the public.Just saying!!
Great clinic. Made a last second appointment to put our pet down and they worked to make room in the schedule. They were very nice about everything and it was affordable. Thank you for your help in a difficult time.
The vets are great and the prices cant be beat.. BUT the receptionist either needs help or to be replaced. She rarely answers sounding composed and able to assist you at that moment. Hold times last 3-5 minutes if youre lucky to not have to call several times. Makes it hard to keep returning to Dr. Johns for my dogs needs.
What a service to the community, Dr.Johns staff is a blessing. Convenient hours, knowledgeable staff, and a welcoming environment are just a few ways to describe the atmosphere. Have been taking my Pets here for twenty years. Do yourself and pocketbook a favor, go see these wonderful people!
I have never been disappointed with the quality of care from this vet. Their cafeful, conservative approach to animal care is refreshing. When another vet recommend $1800 in surgery plus in office PT we came here for a second opinion. Dr John recommend more diagnostics to make sure of what we were dealing with. (The other vet did only a manual exam and nothing more.) Based on the results Dr John recommend cage rest and restricted activity. Today out dog is doing great! The office isnt as pretty as more expensive vets, but the quality of care is what matters. If you want a knowledgeable, reliable vet clinic this is the place for you and your pet.
All of the doctors at Dr. Johns are GREAT! I recommend them to everyone and wouldnt even think of taking my furbabies anywhere else to be cared for. They have the best prices in town and give the best care! They truly love and care for all animals!!
Went to feeder supply to get rabies Shots. Dr. Clay was rude. She decides that our adult female shepherd needed a exam. We said we just wanted the shot. She starts doing the exam. All of a sudden she blurts out your dog has cancer. She needs surgery. Then finally gives her the shot. Charges us $10 and it’s only good for 1 year. We took our other dog to PetSmart the shot was $15 and good for 3 years. Honestly feels like she’s just trying to get more money. Won’t use her ever again
I just wanted to tell everyone here in the Louisville area if you have a precious pet and want to have the Best Veterinarian you have to take them to see Dr . John and Dr.Kline and his entire staff to special Thank you to William (you make Red feel like a movie star) I can not Thank you enough for getting Red in today at the last minute he was in so much pain better now. .Eddie and I Thank God we went in Fenders supply store 2 years ago on a Friday night and seen all the people in line with their babies we ask the cashier she said you came there every Friday and we brought all 4 babies in you treated them so gentle and kind and so loving we were so happy because we just fired our old vet because he was rough with the babies and he actually hit red on the head boy thats all it took I told him that he would never treat our babies again and perhaps he should retire...Thank you again for all you do for our 4 babies..Edward and Lydia Diego. .
I have gone to the St. Matthews feeders supply clinic a handful of times and more times than not have been disappointed with the service. The receptionist has been very rude and snarky, and the one handling my pet can be a little rough at times. The prices are fair and the vets have been great though!
Ive been taking my two pugs to the Feeders Supply nights that the Clinic holds and to the clinic itself for over 2 years now. All of the vets and the techs and staff are amazing and compassionate. The care and cost cannot be beat, its beyond quality and affordable. A true blessing!
I had a very bad experience made much worse but the vet working the day I went in. I’d used Dr. John years ago and was very happy. I moved away and returned to the area. It’s not what it used to be, I won’t go back.
My dog somehow injured himself and was in apparent searing pain, which developed suddenly over the weekend. They were able to get me an appointment within an hour of calling, and when I arrived, my pet was immediately seen. I was not put on hold during the call. They were very caring about my dog, and explained their diagnosis. They even broke apart his medication for me. Very reasonable prices as well - under $150 for an emergency visit, examination, x-ray, and three medications. I have been using their clinics for his shots and I am happy that his actual veterinary clinic is just as great!
We have loved taking our puppy to Dr. John for all his shots and check-ups. Very professional services and friendly staff. Will say though that the day and location to which you go matters. Tuesdays at the one near Whole Foods has always been a great experience.
Excellent experience with my dog at Dr. Johns. Has my highest recommendation. Great staff, fair pricing.
After going to a local vet for a few months, a friend of mine told me about Dr. John. I took our puppy to his clinic at Feeder Supply for his shots and heart worm pill. Everyone on the staff was so incredibly nice and so knowledgable. Dr. John was wonderful answering all of my questions. The best part, their prices are a fraction of what we were paying at the local vet office. We wont be going anywhere else from now on!
Dr. Johns has changed for the worse. Dr. John himself never seems to be around anymore and the staff has changed. The receptionist is quite unpleasant and cranky and the doctors seem to rush through appointments. It sure has changed a lot within a year. They are overworked and understaffed. I dont feel like my dog gets quality care anymore. They have lost my business.
The vets and the vet techs are really nice and compassionate, but whoever answers the phone is rude is hell. I called to today for an appointment and she asks can I please hold but before I could respond she put me on hold anyway. Why ask if I can hold when she didnt wait for an answer? Then I feel like she purposely says theres no openings. A few months ago when she said there were no openings I brought my dog in anyway for a spider bite that my dog had a bad reaction to, the vet tech brought her back and the vet went ahead and cleaned her up and got us out in 15 minutes. So they need to replace that receptionist.
All of my animals have all been taken care of by Dr. John for their whole lives. Great service and a great value.
The doctors and staff are GREAT. Our dog has been a patient for nearly nine years. She had a lesion on her nose and rather than rushing to biopsy, they had us try some ointment (that took care of it). The office seems to have low staff turnover - and considering they also do evening clinics at Feeders Supply stores around town - that is saying something!
They are caring and easy to work with. Their prices cant be beat. 😁
Attentive and friendly staff willing to answer any and all questions. Great experiences all around. Fully recommend.
We had to have our beloved German Shepherd put down Christmas Eve due to her rapidly deteriorating condition (her kidneys were failing). They were so kind and so caring....made the situation as easy as it COULD be. They sent a sympathy card afterwards, which I thought was sweet. We had been going to Dr. John for years for immunizations, etc. but this was the first time we ever had to use him for something serious....am glad we had him!!!
My yellow lab, Kobe, visits Dr. John for all of his shots at the pet clinic at Feeders Supply. Dr. John is great, you can tell he has a love for animals. The pet clinic is a fantastic option for folks trying to save a bit of money but not sacrifice quality or service.
Every time I have went into the office I feel welcome and they take very good care of the animals as well as the pet owners!
My mom took her yorkie to this vet, with a type of growth that had formed on its mouth. It was maybe the size of a big grape. She was very worried of course. It wasnt Dr John himself that examined the dog.It was two other vets that worked there. They told her that they couldnt do anything. And we would have to take him to a specialist.Said it would be very expensive and a good chance they would have to remove his jaw possibly. Now with my mom even more upset. We took him to Bluegrass animal hospital.Where Dr Campbell took one look and within a few days,he removed it with no problem. And the cost was not much at all.So needless to say I wouldneven take a pet rock to them EVER! They had zero compassion for my mom or her pet.
Very friendly and the cost is decent..They wont break the bank
I take all of my animals to Dr. johns the staff is extremely friendly and the care is top notch
Took our new puppy Alpha for his 1st puppy care checkup. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Will return soon~
Love this place--everyone is so kind to me and my animals and they give great care, too! I come from out of town, and will never go anywhere else.
All of the employees are dedicated and helpful. Very sensitive to my pets needs! I recommend them highly..
I took my dog into Dr. Johns as a last minute appt. I am a Banfield member with Petsmart, but Banfield was completely booked up for the day, and even though Dr. Johns was kind to squeeze me in, I wish I would have just waited one more day until Banfield would have seen me.My dog had a very bad UTI, and they told me to bring in a urine sample so they can see whats going on.A woman doctor waited on us. She saw how in pain Keelee was and even felt around her urethra for stones (BTW- this is pointless to do). When they looked at her urine, it came back with crystals, elevated white blood cells (which means infection), high pH, and there was blood in her pee. They put my dog on a 14 day antibiotic and told me around day 10 to drop off another urine sample to make sure she was okay.On day 7 or 8 I called them and told them my dog was not getting any better and now is peeing blood out all over the house and still uncontrollably peeing. The doctor told me this was normal for her severity of an infection and that its still too early for the antibiotic to say its not working. On day 10, instead of doing a drop off of pee how they mentioned, I went and took my dog to pets mart and brought her urine sample to them. The doctors at petsmart didnt even use the urine sample I brought in because of sanitary reasons & said they need to take it straight from her bladder. I told her that Dr. Johns didnt want to take urine from her bladder bc they didnt want to irritate her anymore... she said we need to do x-rays then.To make a long story short that same day the doctor with Petsmart requested us to take x-rays, a urinalysis, & urine culture (something the doctor said that she would have done DAY 1 when she saw my pup ESPECIALLY since she had crystals & blood in her urine). My dogs entire bladder was filled with stones. She is only a 10-lb dog, and so her bladder is not that big. There were a total of 10-stones in her bladder some almost the size as a dime... the next day my pup went straight into surgery to get them removed. If Keelees infection was so bad then why would they have not taken better steps moving forward how petsmart did?Its been about a month since this happened and I still feel so bad for my baby because she had been in so much pain.I feel bad leaving a bad review because the staff is so kind here but I feel like people need to know this. I would have wanted to know.
This guy saved my dogs life many years ago after she was hit by a car in my driveway. Cant say enough for his performance under duress. Highly recommend him.
Friendly, caring, smiling staff! Very informative and answers all questions. Veterinarian is nice!
Best vets in town!
People are jokes! The so called Dr. and his Techs didnt seem to be very caring! They were very forceful on holding my cats down. I heard someone make a comment about me while I was leaving. They were sloppy and very demanding. They liked talking down to me,while I was trying to get educated about my animals.I will never bring my animals to that place again.
Dr. John has been my vet for many years he takes well care of all my pets hes the best his staff is the best and his prices is the best they all do a very well job and they put their hearts and every living thing that goes inside their office and out there absolutely Lifesavers to all the staff and Dr. John thank you so very much from our family to all of yours TY so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These guys are so good with animals and their people. Very polite and compassionate. Ill be staying with them.
Dr John’s is simply the best in town! Great service and great staff!
My son took my two yorkies to this clinic for their annual shots and asked that they be given the same shots as last showing on their records. But after they looked up their chart they told him they needed additionals shots and charge me $173.00 for shots that I did not ask for nor was it beneficial to my ten year old yorkie who is very sick with diabetes and on medication. Within an hour he started shaking, running a fever, and throwing up because of this clinic trying to pad the vet bill even at the risk of my dogs health. Very unethical. I would not risk your dogs health going to this place.
The staff are extremely kind and compassionate. Highly recommended.
I have three dogs and all three have had to go see Dr John for one reason or another over the past 4 months. The staff there are always so helpful and friendly and my dogs medical issues were all treated and cured. I had stopped going to my Vet of 35 years because it seemed they were always trying to upsell me when i would go in. Not so at Dr Johns. They treat the problem and dont try to run the bill up with alot of unnecessary tests and products. Thanks for making the care for my fur babies affordable.
They love my kitty Laela. I wouldnt go to any other vet clinic. This staff is AWESOME !!
Loved the service. Very nice people. Thanks so much. :-)
I have been taking our dogs there for years. They are the best
Love Dr.John and all his staff
I have been twice now. Once in office, with an appointment and was serviced by Doctor John himself. He was amazing. My kitty loved him and he knew how to work with us, one step at a time and didnt pressure us to buy things we didnt need. He was very nonjudgemental. The second time was at one of the clinics and I was serviced by dr. Kline. He was also very very nonjudgemental and gave me all the info I needed. I loved them! and the prices are so fair! SO MUCH BETTER THAN BANFEILD!
They take great care of my dogs.
Had to take my new puppy to get shots and deworm, very friendly staff. Highly recommend them to others.
I was very disappointed in a recent visit to Dr. Johns. I just adopted a rescue puppy who has been in the wild for an unknown period of time. When I explained that I just wanted to get her in and have a check up to make sure there were no problems, he didnt seem concerned or worried about doing a thorough check of her. He spent under ten minutes in the room with us and gave her two vaccinations and a prescription for Trifexis to take care of heartworms, fleas, ticks, etc. He barely looked her over and it seemed as if he just wanted to be in and out of the exam room as quickly as possible. It wasnt until later that evening that I was told by a neighbor that if given to a dog with heartworms already, Trifexis could potentially be ineffective or even fatal... I called Dr. Johns to confirm what I had heard and the man I spoke with recommended that he personally would do the test before giving her the Trifexis, just to be safe, in case she did already have heartworms. So after debate, I took my puppy to another local vet to have the heartworm test done and another check up performed to make sure there werent any other problems. This vet did a very thorough job, took blood and fecal samples, only to discover that she had tapeworms, whipworms and a mild yeast infection in her ear! I was so disappointed in Dr. John, that he knew her history or lack of, and wasnt proactive and thorough in his evaluation of her. I will not be returning to Dr. Johns Pet Clinic with either of my dogs and will be discouraging others from going as well. For my pets, I want a vet who is caring and who I can trust to take care of their health.
Really put off by the rude receptionist who puts me on hold before I can answer the question. Called three times and the woman at the front desk is either incapable, overwhelmed, or both. How difficult is it to schedule an appt???
The Best Service for the fairest prices.
They are heartless and dont go to them cause theyll let your pets die; and a simple sorry doesnt cut it
Good but you have to go on the right days
Awesome place to take your pets and affordable!!!!!
The only place I will ever take my fur babies.
Great place, great people and great vet
Great!
