I had originally given them a five-star rating because they actually did save my dog from the effects of a drug allergy created by a previous vet. But, I took this same dog to them for teeth cleaning and extractions and asked prior to doing this whether he had mouth cancer. They said they could do a test for an additional $108 to determine if it was mouth cancer. Since the cleaning and extraction was going to be about $800 I did not want to add another $100 to an amount I already could not really afford. I would have thought a vet would be able to recognize what mouth cancer looks like she did not even notice the lump on the side of his face until I pointed it out. I not only paid for this but also an additional $48 to refill his seizure medicine. Had I known his condition... I would have not even refilled that. It was not even 2 weeks later when I needed to put him to sleep since I had to carry him anytime he needed to go out or get in bed and he barely was eating. Upon calling Barbour Lane they wanted over $200 just to put him to sleep even though I was taking him back with me. I called another vet and got it done for $50 and was also told I made the right decision since his entire mouth was eaten up with cancer all the way back into his throat. You cannot tell me that they did not know this when they charged me the money to do the cleaning and extractions I am very disappointed and will not be back I thank them for saving him the first time but the second time it was way too much money for nothing. Wish I could get the money back on the seizure medicine still have a whole bottle.

This was my first visit after having a horrible experience with another vet. I was incredibly impressed by the love and compassion the Vet Tech and Dr. Townsend showed for my fur baby. The exam was completely thorough and Dr. Townsend took extra time in explaining tests, treatment etc. He even called me on Saturday to give me the results from a test. I would highly recommend Barbour Lane Animal Hospital.

Staff and Vet were pleasant and knowledgeable. Treatment appears to be of limited use. Shot of cortisone was helpful but gave us pills to administer and that seems to be impossible to accomplish. Cost was pretty high. We believe Buster will need to be put to sleep in a short time.

I cannot recommend Barbour Lane Animal Hospital enough! I moved here from near Chicago and went based on a recommendation from the owner of Poe’s Pet Depot and have never been disappointed in the 7 years I have been going here! They coordinate with my vet back home and a rescue group I got my second dog as a foster initially, without issue. The staff is always kind and accommodating. Dr. O’Grady is the absolute best vet! She is kind and attentive, honest, and always so sweet and helpful! Thank you all for everything you do for my pups!

All of the staff at Barbour Lane Animal Hospital are wonderful. They take care of my dog as if he were their own. Dr. Townsend is especially easy to talk with when I have concerns about my dogs health. I never have trouble getting appointments or getting a call back with test results. I cant recommend them highly enough and I cant thank them enough for taking such good care of my dog

After review owner reached out directly to apologize and confirm that they have discussed with staff to ensure this situation is rectified. Also, the other groomer hurt my dog and Barbour Lane Animal Hospital gracefully worked him in on Saturday when there were not any open appointments. They took great care of him and both the drop off and pick up went smoothly and quickly. It was clear that they heard my concern and made an effort to address it....following is the original review: So they called on Saturday making sure we were coming on Monday morning. No problem. I arrived at 8:08 and called. I am in spot 5. After 30 minutes of them taking pets that arrived after me I left. 8:38. I had two employees look out and see me and just went back inside. If I were the owner I would be embarrassed. When your business is not unique, all you have is customer service. I have an appointment elsewhere on Wednesday.

The doctors and staff are very responsive to your pets’ needs. They provide the best options for your pets health. They work with you for appointments and emergencies. Everyone is caring and kind to the pet and the owner. I recommend them for anyone looking for a professional animal hospital.

If an illness occurs they work you in ASAP. The staff is friendly and caring. You never feel rushed and all concerns are answered patiently. Sam is the very best groomer ever !! She is an expert at clipping and styling any breed. Shes the sweetest kindest, most patient dog lover. Shes groomed my very special cocker spaniels for over 10 years. If you need a groomer, just ask for Sam.

I was so appreciative that Barbour Lane could get me in the day I called when my dog injured her leg because it turned out to be a torn acl requiring surgery. Dr. Townsend was very kind and informative in going over x rays with me. All receptionists have been friendly and patient with my questions.

Doctors and staff are very caring. We have taken our Springer there for ten years. If we need information or food or medication, each person we contact is helpful and sees that we receive what our dog needs.Lindsay, the groomer, is just as pleasant and reliable as the others who work there.

Always have great dog grooming when we use Sam. She was not available this time or last time, so used Lindsey. I left verbal and written instructions to cut ears and tail short one one dog and leave the top knot on the other dog. First dog came back long ears and tail, second dog top knot shaved completely off. Also had notes about one dog being difficult, muzzled for entire groom and a price raise for next time. These are rescue dogs and really need someone who is good with rescues. Ive never had problem before. Nails not trimmed short enough. Both dogs still rubbing butts on carpet two days later. They were apologetic, and offered to come back to fix long ears and tail.

Myself and my family have been bringing our pets here for more than 15 years. The care and attention they have given our little loved ones is top notch. I’m always confident my babies are receiving the best medical attention and the groomers do an amazing job as well! I have a long haired exotic cat breed that recently got a hair cut and we’ve taken our family dogs as well! Wonderful, friendly, accommodating staff!!

I have been going to this Animal Hospital for 25 years. I can honestly say Ive never encountered more caring veterinarians anywhere. They are a small practice that treats you like family, and they treat your pets like they were their own. There prices are very fair, and their expertise is great. Best in the business.

I have taken my furbaby/golden-doodle Moose, to Sam for grooming since he was a puppy. I cannot say enough great things about the service Sam provides. She is always loving and dotes on my Moose, which is exactly what I would hope for with anyone who I am entrusting my pup with! She listens to what I’m hoping for in a cut/trim for Moose and he always comes out happy and fluffy! I recommend Sam to any and everyone I can.

I have been taking my dogs there for the last 5 years and am very pleased with the quality of care they’ve received. My last experience was one of those that is the most difficult as a dog owner. I had to have my 15 year old dachshund euthanized. The entire staff was so compassionate and kind. I highly recommend them for the care of your fur babies.

I originally started out taking my pet to Barbour Lane Animal Hospital because my groomer Sam moved there. Sam is the best there is!! She went from being 2 miles from my home, to being 17 miles but I would follow her anywhere and that’s what I did. I have been taking my standard poodle to Barbour Lane Veterinary since I moved here to Kentucky four years ago. I’ve been very satisfied with their care and compassion for my now 14 and 1/2 year old dog. It is always easy to see a Dr. if my dog suddenly feels unwell. This is a big plus for me because they seem to care as much for him as I do. Thank you to all who work there.

My family has been going to Barbour Lane for 20+ years. Both vets are excellent, but we especially love Dr. Townsend and appreciate his ability get to the root of the issue quickly and confidently. While they may be a little pricier than other vets I’ve used in the past, when you factor in the necessity for less visits due to accurately diagnosing issue the first time, I’m sure we’re actually saving money. They’ve saved the lives of my dogs in surgery and they’ve been there to gently ease the passing of my seniors at the end. I couldn’t imagine trusting my four-legged family to anyone else.

Sam has been grooming my 10 yo Ocherese since he was a puppy. She always does a wonderful job. He loves going to see her and doesn’t get nervous knowing that he is about to be groomed. I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to get their dog groomed.

We love their grooming services, Sam is a wonderful groomer who sees our two dogs every 3 weeks for full baths grooms. LINDSAY IS THE BEST. I have a 100lb rottie that is very scared. He hates bath time but lets Lindsay do everything from wash, dry and clip his big ol nails! His coat is always so Shiney and he smells like heaven. The bandanas are a big plus for fun!

I have had a long 26 year relationship with Barbour Lane Animal Hospital. They have celebrated initial puppy care to end of life care for my four four legged fur babies. As a matter of fact, I moved to the highlands for a decade but could not find a vet that made me feel as confident so, I was very willing to drive the extra miles to see them. The staff have been a strong support to Drs O’Grady and Townsend. They go out of their way in helping me provide a healthy environment for my dogs. I will not lie, the fees are not cheap but what I receive from them is worth it!

My dog has recently developed some health problems. They are all very supportive and Dr Townsend is excellent!

I took our GSD Luna to Barbour Lane for X-Rays of her hips and elbows for OFA evaluation. This requires particularly precise positioning in order to get proper alignment of the hips, etc. Dr. Townsend and his team produced excellent radiographs with perfect positioning. I will be recommending Barbour Lane to our Dog Sport Club members as well as all IGP clubs and kennels. To those of you who are wanting/needing Hip and Elbow evaluations from OFA, you know how important it is to find the right Vet who takes the time to understand the requirements of the OFA and how important the positioning is to determine an accurate evaluation. We will not Breed our GSD if she does not have good hips. Its all about improving the breed.

Dr. Townsend is wonderful! I am staying with my parents for several months (from out of state) and thus had to bring my pet with me. My parents take their dog to Barbour Lane Animal Hospital - and so, when I had an issue with my cat and was concerned whether I needed to bring her in, I called Barbour Lane Animal Hospital. Dr. Townsend actually got on the phone to speak with me about my concerns! He was kind, helpful and informed. I am NOT their customer and have never paid them a dollar, yet he was willing to advise me on the issue with my cat. He went way out of his way, to help someone unknown - which he did not have to do...all in the spirit of helping a kitty and being a nice person. Thank you Dr. Townsend!
