I have been coming to Blue Cross for many years now. Damon Campbell was a great veterinarian! now Scott Campbell is there and he goes above and beyond! I have recommended a lot of my family & friends to come here. And they feel the same way! The doctors and the techs/everyone @ Blue Cross makes it their mission to make you feel comfortable while you’re there. they love your fur baby just as much as you do! Thank-you! Our appointment was at 4pm. At 3:55pm we called and checked in, like it says to do. They said a technician will be right out. 25 minutes later, we called again to let them know we was still waiting on technician and our appointment was at 4, and once again we were told we was with another patient but a technician was getting ready to come back out for our scheduled appointment once again, technician will be right out. By 4:30pm...no one came out so we got frustrated and we just left. We called to cancel and told them we got tired of waiting so we left. They did not even apologize for it. My first bad experience with them. I know we are in a pandemic right now but they didnt seem to be on top of things this time. If they are going to be late getting to you and your furry friend then please notify us as we did with them when we arrived on time at scheduled appointment :(

She called my suddenly dead dog a CORPSE just so she could brush me off and go about her day.Honestly, still considering filing a lawsuit for intentional infliction of emotional distress.Do not EVER take your dog here. Poor service, zero bedside manner, only interested in taking your money.I’ve been to 3 vets in Louisville and this one is BY FAR THE WORST.

I have had a bad experience with this vet. I chose BC as it was down the street where I live. My vet Mike Grimes passed away and I needed a new vet. The proximity from my house was great. My bigger dog hated car rides so this seemed to be the solution. I had both dogs checked up and utd on shots when we moved to this practice. The big dog developed a heart condition that I was unaware of until it was too late. I had to euthanize her at Metro in April . My little dog had teeth removed at BC with no problem. Then I brought two of my three cats to Blue Cross. Purl has hypothyroid and Fred has renal disease. They wanted a urinalysis on Fred, done Aug. 19. Then the office closed down for vacation for a week. Apparently Dr. Webb had surgery and Campbell just wanted to go on vacation. So I waited a WEEK for results. Tuesday after they came back I called and was told they could not find the results and Dr. Campbell must have it and he will call you himself. I called again two days later, pretty sure the result was nothing to worry about. Again staffer Laurie promised he would call. He did at six pm that evening and told me that Fred had a UTI. TWO WEEKS Fred went untreated. And I could not pick up the meds because they were closing. This morning I went to get the meds and three scripts for my pets. Julie the receptionist cut me off while I was talking and rushed to get my card number. Then put me on hold, came back and said uh-ha and because I didnt respond right away, she hung up. I was surprised because other staffers were pretty nice. So I find this vet to be negligent in providing proper care. The indifference to his patient is deplorable. My little cat has suffered a lot already and then to be treated with such rudeness is insufferable.

My pup has had a few health issues since I moved to Louisville and blue cross has been amazing each time. They worked him in quickly both times for sick visits and took amazing care of him. They are doing a great job with social distancing as well. Couldnt be happier.

Ive debated leaving a review about my experience at Blue Cross Animal Hospital, but I think its important for people to be aware of a couple of the issues that I faced as a new dog owner. I adopted a dog from LMAS and was looking for a veterinarian I could trust. He is a fairly healthy dog and aside from a few questions I just needed a general checkup to make sure everything was good with him. Ill start with the mistake on his weight. They weighed him at 40 lb. Twice. He actually weighs more than 50 lb. When I called the next day to ask about the discrepancy in his weight, they were surprised to hear that there was an issue and after a brief hold told me that everyone was excitedly weighing themselves on the scale because they were coming up lighter. When youre weighing dogs and prescribing medication based on their weight its extremely important to make sure your scales are working properly and not to treat it like its some throwback to your high school days and get excited about how little you weigh. I had to return the medicine he was prescribed because he needed a stronger version due to the weight difference. He was at the end of a prescription fighting kennel cough when I adopted him, and when I took him to BC he was about three weeks finished with his medicine, but still coughing, still with a nasal discharge. BC blew me off completely when I asked about it, suggesting that it’s β€˜probably’ just left-over from the kennel cough. Today, I got a second opinion and have been giving a complete new round of medicines for him to take because he has a respiratory illness that is being treated as influenza. They did trim his nails at BC, so props, I suppose, for that. But, like so many other recent reviews Ive seen about them, I ultimately feel like I cannot trust their judgement and will not return nor would I ever feel comfortable recommending them to anyone. I certainly hope that mistakes that could potentially harm someones pet are taken seriously wherever you take your fur baby.

My family has brought our pets to Blue Cross for 13 years. Having said that, Im not going back after today. They charged me $82 to examine two cats for five minutes during a pandemic. The majority of my visit was a 15-minute long phone call with the vet about nothing in particular. My cat has feline herpes and needed antibiotics for a respiratory infection. I had to ask for antibiotics (the bottle was leaking in the box when I got home) while the vet pitched a $275 ultrasound at me because He may have heart disease. No, he is an overweight cat with chronic respiratory problems and gets winded from running around an apartment. Im not sure what happened after Dr. Campbell passed away. Maybe the staff works on commission and runs on non-sequitur logic. I went ahead and spent $12 on some lysine on Amazon and Googled another clinic and basic veterinary medical advice that doesnt suck. The rabies vaccines were the only reasonable thing that resulted from this $198 misadventure. Dont go here.

I brought my dog with a chronic bacterial infection to Blue Cross last month. Blue Cross prescribed ten days of cheap bubblegum flavored amoxicillin. I took my pet to Middletown Animal Clinic, last week, had a 20 min. conversation with the vet, and paid 50% of what BC charged me for one shot of strong antibiotics and eye drops for conjunctivitis (which BC never mentioned). Two days later, my dog is breathing normally again. Why would anyone give bubblegum flavore to a dog?! What a waste of time and money. Dont bring your pets here.

Why was Rocky outside in a fenced area at 10pm alone, Dr. Campbell? Why have your and your staff not apologized to the owner? Why did your staff lie to owner about when Rocky escaped? Why did your staff try to charge the owner for the boarding costs after Rocky was killed in your care? Shame on you. You are a disgrace to your profession.

I scheduled an appointment for my cat at 3:30pm for a general check up. Arrived early and checked in at 3:28pm. 45 minutes went by, I watched one of the staff talk to the car next to me about everything not animal related for 20mins and then leave. Finally called back to tell them I’d been checked in for over 45mins. They asked the same questions the first staff member did when doing my intake papers. Said the staff was busy. So I waited, and watched other cars pull up after me and get serviced before me. Needless to say I sat outside for 1hr and 25mins before a tech came out to see me, after checking in twice, and calling and being put on hold for 10mins to get my cat seen. I had other appointments tonight so my cat is still sick and won’t be seen til later because of negligence on the staffs end. This is unacceptable.

We took our 7 month old kitten to get spayed, giving us a ridiculous quote, aprehensivly handing over my baby Millie to the nurse who wasnt the friendliest, I gave them my cat. 2 hours later they called me to tell me that something went wrong during the surgery and Millie had died on the table! Something went wrong alright, they killed my kitten. Then my wife and I had to argue with them to get her cremated and her remains returned. First they claimed responsibly, then refused to payfor it, then they argreed but told the crematorium to only charge them for 25 dollars that they were not willing to pay more than that, while we were willing to pay them $350 to get her spayed! Finally the nice people at Borden Pet Crematorium called to let us know it had been taken care of. Nothing was wrong with Millie, just a routine spay, and now our baby is gone. Who knows what else may be going on wrong in there but I would recommend finding care elsewhere.

We took her to an Emergency Animal Clinic (what a bunch of HACKS!!!!) and they took x-rays and put her foot in a soft splint. This cost us almost $1000!!!!!! When we took her to get checked up at Blue Cross Animal Hospital her foot was completely crooked and her pads on her foot were almost facing the ceiling! When we called back to see why it was this way they told us that a soft splint is not guaranteed and there was NOTHING they could do! The amazing Veterinarians at Blue Cross have helped us so much with her. They placed pins in her foot and have her foot back to almost completely normal! They were very patient and they took every step necessary to get her foot to where she could use it again. I could never thank them enough for all they have done for my dog and for us! I went to Blue Cross for the first time last month - because of budget reasons. My cat was suspected of having cancer in a leg, and I had gone to Metropolitan Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Service in Louisville, KY for some help - and as kind and professional as that place seemed, they had quoted me for a biopsy and ultrasound for $1200+ ! which I could not afford.Later, in my agony, as I pondered if I should fork out the dough, I saw an ad for Blue Cross on TV and they promised better prices and excellent care - and they were right. The head Doc is still practicing well into the age when many would retire. But that means experience! Anyway, he looked at my cat and suggested just a biopsy for $400!I think the reason is simple - Metro was a very new, very commercial facility in St Matthews (a fancier part of town). Blue Cross is not in the nicest part of town, nor are their facilities picturesque. However, the staff are every ounce as sympathetic, empathetic and concerned as any I have seen. Sure, there is no TV in the lobby, nor magazines. And they got some decor that is decades old. But who cares?Turns out my cat DID have cancer, and as I write this I await to go pick him up after his back leg was amputated. And as sad as this makes me, at least I know I will not be paying through the nose for the service. Who needs financial strain on top of emotional strain?Anyway, long story not-so-short, I will probably be bringing all my pets here from now on. I HAD been going to Chenoweth Animal Hospital for regular care (and they are very nice, and very awesome!! - and all women, for some reason...) but it seems you can get the same care at Blue Cross for HALF the price of other leading facilities.Check them out. I have asked many customers in the waiting room their opinions and they all agree - excellent care.........and ignore Izaak Macons one-star review below. The guy clearly has control issues.

Today I went back for them to take care of my newest fur baby. Moe DIggity my pet French Lop rabbit. I will always bring my pets to them. They really do know their animalsπŸ˜„

My daughter and I have been coming to Blue Cross Animal Hospital for a couple years and our experience has been wonderful. Dr. Camebell has helped the three of our pets from serious situations with one of our cats having a herpies break-out in his eye and our dog getting a kidney stone, to simple flea medication. The staff is so reassuring to us and so gentle to our little furry babies. From our previous experiences with other vets, Blue Crosss prices are half of the compeditors. I very much recommend to anyone who is on a budget and wants great care for your furry family.

I took my dog to Blue Cross Animal Hospital today to get her a Rabies vaccine. When I inquired how much it would be to license her they said it would be cheaper if I had her spayed. I let them know I do not plan on having her spayed. Both women up at the desk asked why I wouldnt have her spayed. One of the women said with a condescending tone that she would if she were me. She was so so rude I will never take my pets to this Hospital ever and will recommend no one else should. It is my right to not spay or neuter MY animal and I should not have received a condescending attitude because of it!!!!

Some years ago I was told by somebody they took their dog to the Bluegrass Animal hospital and they said nothing but bad about them Im changed my dog from his vet because every time he went to his he came back with fleas so I did give them the chance and I mustday out of desperation well being on a fixed income I was kind of leery because I had to do some stuff for my tcat too well they said how much money do you have to work with I told them and lo and behold they did everything they possibly could for me so all these years I could have been going to Bluegrass Animal Hospital in Been complete and then without having to pay for the extra his ofleas like his other vet on vet on Dixie hwy

I took my little dog to see Dr Campbell on 2/24/17. This was our first visit. Dr Campbell gave my little dog her needed vaccinations. He choose Revolution to treat fleas. When I checked out with Nickie she said I could buy a single dose and come back later if I needed to continue treatment. The Revolution worked fine. On June 10th I came back to the office to pick up another dose of Revolution. This time it was Luann at the front desk. She told be firmly I could not buy any more Revolution because my dog had not had bloodwork done. I tried to explain to her it was the Doctor who made the decision on the flea medication not myself. She said it doesnt matter you must buy Vectra.I paid and took the Vectra I wasnt going to stand there and argue. 6/21/17 I called back to the office and Luann answered the phone. I explained to her I had applied the Vectra to my little dog and that it was not working. I explained She had been groomed and her hair is very blond and short and that I could see she had several fleas crawling on her. She was scratching her skin like crazy. I TOLD Luann the Vectra had no impact on the fleas. She cut me off and put me on hold. When she came back she said you have to called Vectra to complain. I ask what could be done to comfort my little dog. She said that wasnt their concern if I wanted my money back I needed to call Vectra 1-800 number. I wasnt even calling about getting my money back I was more concerned with comforting my little dog. When I told Luann I couldnt see how calling the manufacturer could ease my little dogs discomfort she was rude again and said nothing we can do. I find it interesting that their website mentions how much comforting the customers animals is a top priority of Blue cross animal hospital. I will find another Vet to take my little dog to. I just moved into my new house and thought it would be a good idea to have a vet close to my house. It is apparent this office is only worried about the $18.00 and not customer service of comforting my little dog.
