Be careful ladies and children of going into a place or facility that you go to for help or thinking that you are going here for help.., but agencies like these can really have negative effects on you and your children and family dynamic. Do not trust the workers no matter how nice they seem, and be careful in general of disclosing your past or family business. Overall just be very very cautious after you walk in the door of your every step because sometimes workers in these places can make false reports against you and your children and they are barely trained in social services. Good luck to all ladies and victims of domestic violence.

It was so confusing the family crisis center is inside of the colorful building. Just leave early from your house its going to take time to look for 1736 family crisis center. It took us awhile to find it.

Great place for resources for the family. They have an after school program for middle schoolers, one of those days is a computer math and science class. Thy also offer bus tokens, diapers, and backpacks for kids. They have so many services besides those three. Check them out

Kevin is amazing, was able to find employment within two months from enrollment. Helps after employment with interview clothes, food and gas cards. I am absolutely grateful for them!

My, my, things have certainly changed, at the his facility. 1736 DOES NOT SUPPORT, in DCFS cases. DO NOT GO HERE SEEKING: supportive letters, gleaming progress reports,(even thoughyou are compliant), nor, cooperation in helping you understand (where honestly warranted) or, consistency.Classes are often cancelled without notice. Case management is sloppy and, slow in progress of process. Its open only because of funding kick backs & washing the backs of various cause for need foundations!!!

This place is absolutely the worst for DV assistance, the staff who works here are extremely incompetent and unorganized. They also nag you a lot when you have a job, almost as tho they just dont believe you are working. You’re supoosed to feel safe but I did not feel safe here at all. Lots of bad energy and staff even spread rumors about you to other clients so the clients dont get along & go against the facility and file a grievance to stop funding to the facility. The beds they provide clients literally feel like you are sleeping outside on the ground. Theres ants, roaches and bed bugs everywhere. The place smells horrible stinks like fish & meldew throughout the entire house. I know people are scared and really need help from DV but this is definitely not the place to go.

This place treats women worse than there own abusers, sad to say, I had such an agonizing exsperience here, one of the staff Karmen is so prejudice its unbelievable, Im so dissapointed in the way this place is ran. I feel so sorry for anyone running from an abuser and ending up placed at any location 1736 has to offer.

First entering this shelter I had high hopes and looked forward to everything the program offer, a week into the program I found a job, then I noticed coordinator my schedule and she knows I work two hours after curfew I was cut off yelled at and still told that I would get wrote up, so forced to choose my job over that although I provided staff with my full schedule they started to nag me and threaten to kick me out for breaking curfew. After that they explained I had to leave, leaving me and my kids with nowhere to go. Also while staying, My entire stay staff was very unprofessional and a few times I walked up to hear them talking about me and other clients when confronted they denied it and became silent, I felt extremely uncomfortable while living there. The house is dirty as well and my room had a bug and ant problem, i woke up constantly with bites that I could not identify, the beds feel like concrete I had back pain alot, and there was multiple pieces of gum stuck under my bunk bed from previous clients, along with blood stains on my sheets, if you have no where to go this is definitely not the place I would rather live on the streets.

This shelter is horrible they have bed bugs at the la location, when addressing the issue it took them forever to take action, & after they so called sprayed me and my poor children continued to get bit up. There is alot of favoritism & racism with in the staff, staff gossip about other clients business to other clients whom they favor, lack of professionalism, the onsite therapist tells all the staff your business when she is supposed to be held to a higher moral standard. Most of the staff lack empathy and emotion toward your delicate situation. I would not recommend anyone to seek safety at this location, they are also obligated to provide food weekly for clients and clients went weeks with no food & were told to use their EBT, which not all clients received. I am still looking into filing a grievance on this shelter, WOMEN WHO ARE DV SURVIVORS are supposed to be treated with respect and lead to feel safe not feel anxiety of the staffs cruel intensions. My advise to anyone who is forced to attend this shelter is beware and keep a note of every wrong acct you encounter.
