I came in to trade in my lease for a Hyundai and was pleasantly greeted by Ross. He emailed me after I left ensuring me that he will review the inventory and find me a car. After a couple email exchanges, I was disappointed when I didn’t receive a follow up email back after trying to get in touch with him. I ended up having to go to another Hyundai dealership but would’ve loved to have stayed with them considering their convenient location.

Extremely poor service here in the past year if you’re doing anything other than an oil change. Devin B. worked so hard for us showing us a lot of options, letting us test drive everything. He was very kind and helped answer all of our questions. We were so close to making a purchase here but his boss wouldn’t budge on price and unfortunately the vehicle we wanted was just above our budget. We ended up finding another of the same vehicle a year newer with less miles at the dealership in Redford and the other dealer came down $1,500 on price to meet our budget. We really wanted to buy from Devin but unfortunately Lafontaine couldn’t compete with George Matick dealerships price for that particular vehicle. I hope Devin will see this review and know how much his service was appreciated.

From a customer service standpoint, I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Neil was my representative and dealt with everything in an incredibly professional and punctual manner. I had a couple unusual issues with my vehicle including a malfunctioning blower motor, a faulty key fab, and an unfastened mud guard. Neil delivered all of the work without any cost or inconvenience to me apart from an additional oil change that I paid $45 for. The car is running wonderfully and the wash and wax he threw in has lasted well over a week, even through multiple days of rain. The crew did an excellent job with everything and I couldn’t be more pleased. Thank you Neil and thank you Ralph Thayer Hyundai, I will exclusively be coming to you as long as I have this car.

Horrible service and attitude. They dont seem to care customer at all.Hyundai Customer Care Team scheduled a special inspection (?) at this dealer for windshield cracking and chipping too easily on 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The dealer who sold the vehicle did not want to look at it just because windshield glass is not warranty part.The reason why the customer care team set up the inspection is due to it chipped/cracked too easy, 2 cracks and 5 little chips ( poked but did not all the way through ) in 2 weeks. Basically, if you can hear any tiny little sounds on windshield ( no matter how small the object was or how lightly it touched the windshield ), 2020 Hyundai Palisade windshield will be chipped or cracked. It really feels not safe to drive on highway.The service manager in this dealer did not even want to look at it initially, or does not even listen, keep claiming windshield is not in warranty and it is normal to be chipped or cracked. This was exactly same attitude from the dealer who sold the car to me.Said over and over that he is nothing to do with Hyundai Customer care team and he does not care why customer care team set up an appointment at his dealer and does not care about the issue. He does not seem to care what so ever.The experience at this dealer in addition to other Hyundai dealer made me conclude that once Hyundai sell the product, they really dont care customer feedback, never even try to listen what is really happening on their product after sale is completed.I will never buy or deal with any HYUNDAI/KIA PRODUCT in my life again.

Going to Ralph Thayer for maintenance and repair has taken away all of my anxieties about going to the mechanic. I dont have to worry about being a smart customer. I dont often write reviews, but I have plenty of reasons to leave a good one here. Harpreet and his team are professional, yet they feel like friends and loyal members of a community. They always remember when they last saw my car, and communicate each step with me. This Ralph Thayer service location also has a very nice waiting area, except I rarely need it. The mechanics have the equipment to do routine service quickly, and if its going to be while, there are options for renting a car.

The actual work performed on our vehicle was fine but goodness could this entire organization really use a refresher in customer service and communication.We brought in my wife’s vehicle for some warranty and recall work that took much longer expected. We realize this was during COVID times and understand that things would take longer than normal but going 3-5+ days without updates, not answering phones, and not returning voicemails & emails seems inexcusable.On top of that, the assistant service manager defiantly spoke in different tones when talking to my wife then when talking with me.If the option of other dealerships are available, we would personally recommend going elsewhere.

My salesmen - Joe Brooks let me get a good feel for what vehicle features, wasnt pressuring me to buy anything i didnt need, and ensure that when i was ready to execute the purchase it was concluded in under 30 minutes - now who can say that bought a car every that quickly!!! Being an essential worker during this time and working 8a-4p everyday. This dealership would not work with me to come in for a 4pm oil change appointment. Stating Well, we start closing and leave at 5pm Seriously? With this extremely poor customer service, Thayer automotive and Hyundai lost me as a current and future costumer. I purchased a new vehicle from Thayer in the last year. The buying process was awesome, but their Service Dept. has some improving to do. A few months after I purchased my car, my tire started losing air. I took it to the Service Dept and they told me I needed a new tire for a car that wasnt even six months old. I purchased it at their behest and I later found out I could have purchased a tire for $100 less. A few months later...same issue. They tell me I need to purchase another tire. This time I decided to go somewhere else. They fixed my tire for free and sent me on my way. I will never use their service department and all future purchases will be made at another dealership! I will not be a repeat customer.

Today (February 15, 2019) my daughter was travelling from Windsor ON to Ann Arbor when her Elantra lost power and stalled on the highway. You can only imagine how I felt when she called me back in Canada when I was unable to come to her rescue. I looked up her location on Google Maps and then searched for a nearby Hyundai dealership. Ralph Thayer Hyundai popped up with a 4.7 star google review. I called my daughter back and she said the car managed to start again so I told her to get off the highway immediately. I then directed her to Ralph Thayer Hyundai. Meanwhile I called the service department and explained my daughter’s situation. The man on the phone asked her name and said he would be ready for her.She finally made it (stalled one more time but the car started again after a 5-minute wait). The service department welcomed her and even made coffee for her. They thought they found the problem (a circuit card had come slightly loose), fixed it, and test drove the car. Everything seemed fine but shortly after she left the car stalled again. She made it back and the service team looked into the problem again. They then suspected the crankshaft sensor. The part was not in stock but one of the employees drove to another dealership to get the part. They installed the part. Did an extensive road trip, with my daughter, and the car was now fixed.My daughter was treated excellently. I felt confident the whole time because everything they were telling my daughter sounded right. They explained everything to her, showed her the parts, got her water….OUTSTANDING. In today’s world you hear the horror stories of car repair. This is a great news story. I can’t thank you enough for taking care of my daughter.

Horrible service!!! Went there and was greeted by a young guy name Chris who is their sales guy. I said I would like to check out the Palisade and he simply unlocked the vehicle for me. Showed no interest to come join me outside and did not hand me the keys either. I went back in and said were you planning on coming out with the keys and he simply said I unlocked the vehicle for you and nothing else after that. I had to walk out at that point. How did he expect me to check anything out without the keys? I have no idea how he became a sales guy. The place was dead too.

In consideration of those two factors, I must share with you my overwhelming confidence in the Hyundai brand and specifically the Ralph Thayer Hyundai organization. I have purchased four (4) Hyundai vehicles within the last 3 years: a 2017 Santa Fe Ultimate; a 2018 Hyundal Santa Fe Sport Ultimate; a 2019 Hyundai Kona Limited; and a 2020 Hyundai Tucson Ultimate. The last 3 vehicles were purchased from Ralph Thayer Hyundai. (I didnt continue to patronize the the previous dealer due to customer service issues and game playing.) Again these cars were purchased, for cash, over a span of thirty-two months.I am very impressed with each vehicle, and though we have had problems with two of them, the service and sales departments at Ralph Thayer have gone above and beyond to address all issues. We are a Hyundai family and I will only purchase from Ralph Thayer Hyundai, located in Livonia, Michigan. The last car, the 2020 Hyundai, broke down last Friday evening and the engine overheated. The service department, being open on Saturday, addressed the issue promptly and we were able to pick the car up on Saturday afternoon. Our family did not miss a beat due to this kind and courteous gesture. But they hesitated diagnosis even though I informed earlier in my appointment. They did not even took a drive to diagnose. I was told Hyundai is not going to lose money on a trade in, maybe California does things differently. You havent bought a car in the Detroit area. Extremely disappointed. I plan on purchasing a 2016 Hyundai Equus Unlimited here in the Michigan metro Detroit area at the end of May. My biggest concern is it really worth $23,000 to $27,000 with it being a rear wheel vehicle thats also 4 years old. Ive been driving my 2001 Lincoln Town Car signature for about three years. I like to know from someone who at one point owned or still owns a Hyundai Equus whod drived it year-round meaning in the winter with snow and summer time if the ride quality is better with the newer technology in the snow. Ultimately I like to know if the Hyundai Equus is better in the snow than my 2001 Lincoln Town Car which by the way is over 5000 pounds.

Hyundai dealer, Livonia Mi: may not apply to other stores in group. This is an unusually high rating, based on just over 1 year of experience. Bought an Ioniq hybrid at great price, with friendlier & more helpful sales rep than any other Hyundai dealer at time. Fact that wife loves the car - which has impressed both of us - doesnt hurt rating. But beyond that they have handled service well, including a recent Recall repair.FWIW: Ioniq is SEL with Tech Pkg, & returned Over 55 mpg for 1st year (& over 60 this summer in local commute);FWIW 2: past experience with VW store would have produced much lower rating. Maybe overall quality has gone up for the group, or perhaps only for the Hyundai store...

I have nothing but great things to say about their sales staff Don(Donnie) Shellnut! I had NEVER met such a genuinely kind, caring, and integrity-minded auto salesman. He was very helpful, and knowledgeable about the Hyundai product. I was not really certain of what I wanted, and it took me almost 2 months(! Aug/Sept!)and Donnie was very patient to explain the different benefits and features of the 2 models I was considering. I was there numerous times just to look and talk. He patiently kept following up with me, with no pressure at all.I REALLY wanted to buy a Hyundai from Don at Ralph Thayer, but it ultimately was a matter of finances. I simply didnt have the means or credit to buy the car I wanted from Ralph Thayer. Their deals on cars were great I must say though!
