My husband and I had looked at several other wedding venues around this area. When we viewed Shaker Run, we knew that this is where we would get married. The ceremony space is absolutely breathtaking! The reception space had enough room for our guests. Also, the food was divine. Venue coordinator, Jordan was so helpful and amazing!!! All throughout the planning process she was there to answer any questions we had. Shaker Run Golf Club was the perfect venue for our wedding! We recommend this venue for any couple wanting a simple but elegant wedding!
The course has been improving over the years which is great. However the bordering neighborhood is rapidly expanding which I understand can help keep the course open while so many are closing and hopefully keep the rates down too. However I tried enjoying a round a weekend or so ago and along the residential areas music was so loud from patios and people cruising around that it was quite a distraction.
My buddy set up our tee time and we had a great experience. Decent value, the greens were well groomed and the overall outing was fun. Planning to come back if we can make it out.
Won’t be going back anytime soon. The pace of play was mind boggling. Well over 5 hours to play 18. No rangers at all. Made the turn to pick up a hot dog real quick and they had none. Just prepacked cold ham, turkey, or chicken salad sandwiches. I appreciate that you responded but your information is incorrect. My son and I each took out a cart. He was so frustrated that he left after hole 16. So the cart that you saw check in at 7:02 was actually his. If you check mine, I played 17 & 18 with a single guy that you paired us up with. We finished closer to 7:40. So actually 5 hours and 20 minutes would be correct. Almost 38 minutes to finish the last 2 holes.
Unbelievably, and without warning or announcement, the staff went through the belongings of several players within our group outing when the players were inside the facility. When items were taken from the players, no one from the staff communicated with the players what had been done. Ive never seen anything so brazen, and dare I say, so criminal from the staff of any business that Ive patronized. If you play here, understand that someone is more than likely going through your stuff while youre in their facility (paying for your greens fees, using the restroom, etc.)
The course is nice. Everyone seemed friendly enough. My only gripe (and other golf courses do this too) is I dont like being paired up with people I dont know, especially during the pandemic.I went with my friend and they put two strangers with us who were way above our skill level. Were just learning (gotta start somewhere right?) and they pair us with two guys that play like theyre in the PGA.Its great that they can play that well, but it just made me and my friend nervous and uncomfortable the whole game.
Played it on 8/25/21 (Lakeside and Woodlands) The course has great character hence a 2 rating or it would be a 1. It’s been 30 years since I played it and was truly excited to play it again. What I found was a course in disrepair. Greens were arrested in August as opposed to October when most greens get a make over. The rough was spotty with holes of bare ground the ball would nestle in. The fringe was not evenly cut and had weeds growing in them especially the Woodlands nine. Water hazards had stagnant water covered with algae and mosquitoes. I played both Beavercreek and Heatherwoode golf clubs days before that put this course to shame. It’s disappointing because Shaker Run once was a top 5 course in the Miami Valley. I won’t be going back.
First time there and enjoyed their burger 🍔. It was a great burger while hubby had their super burger. Enjoyed very much
Played today Wednesday and hadn’t played there in a long time used to be woods and just beautiful and now there’s hundreds of new houses every were 20 yards off the fairway construction everywhere backup beepers from heavy equipment nail guns dust flying had to drive over steel plates and I understand, they have made a boat load of money development and the course was in good shape but confusing even where the next hole was but I can hit balls around any neighborhood probably not that nice houses but I don’t want to go back you might like it if you like playing in a subdivision
I usually dont write reviews but this deserves one went golfing with 16 people and my group was the very last group to go out. I was playing with 3 people that dont play golf much and the cart ranger decides to follow and harass us every single hole for the front 9 then another ranger on the back 9 tells us to keep up the pace that hes fitting us in Even though as a group we just gave you guys $1,000 to play Here when there wasnt even anyone behind us will never be paying $60 to play here again so disappointing was looking forward to playing but the ranger ruined the experience completely!
• Great course with 27 holes, one of the 9s slightly under construction, great bloody mary at the clubhouse, nicely maintained• The course offers three 9-hole courses, each of them a little different than the other. I think its the White that is under construction and one of the tee boxes is horrible to hit off of, but other than that its a great course with some challenging holes and nice views.• Maintained well, havent seen really any significant damage. Dimples/divots on the green are here of course, some people cant be bothered fixing theirs no matter how low or high the green fees are.• If you have a minute, stop by to get a bloody here. Ive had a lot of them and this is one of the best ones Ive EVER had!
We played here for our annual Mother’s Day golf outing and the course was well manicured, the cart path was smooth as silk and the employees were so friendly and things couldn’t have gone better. Thanks Shaker for making this a great event. We plan to make this our new go to course.
Attended a wedding of a family member. The outside venue was beautiful facing the lake and the golf course in the distance. Reception was held at the clubhouse. The food was very nice and the wait staff was very attentive.
Everyone was so nice. Excellent time. My son, grandson, and I played best ball.
The course is harder than you think, but the conditions are still a little rough. Value for the money however.
Beautiful course..but NO provision for players with special needs or health issues. Slow pace of play. And charged my credit card twice.
Great place for the locals and golfers to get a cold drink and some good food.
Nice place, good food, relaxed and comfortable
Worth the drive, excellent layout and very challenging.
Beautiful course, reasonably priced.
In great shape. Seems like it has been 7 + years since it has been
Absolute MISERABLE pace of play... got 12 holes in after 3 hours and we were a two-some. Ended up just leaving after the 12th because it was not even enjoyable waiting for EVERY shot. It’s clear their priority is $ and stacking tee times, sad to see. Glad my gift card is down to $0 I won’t be back (and joe not sure how you can claim an hour 20 on your last 6 holes when you have 3 different nines we could have ended on) Every hole our group and the group behind us were waiting so unless you have race cars instead of golf carts on the last 6 it ain’t happening
Best course/toughest course in southwest ohio. Course is in tournament shape again!!
Beautiful Course. Lots of Hills, challenge yourself!
Its a nice lay out and has some great holes to play. Just too slooooooooooow. Teed of at 12:40 Friday. Played the last hole in the dark. 4:45 to play 18 holes of golf just isnt fun. Not the first time, its every time unfortunately. No rangers or anyone to move the play along so plan on standing around a lot.
Great local place to go. Good food and great staff.
Great shape and very nice staff
Extremely slow pace of play. Teed off at 3:10, by 4:10 we were through three holes. Never saw a ranger. The course was in very poor condition. 7 of the 18 green tee boxes were filled with weeds and crab grass. Greens were very poor, littered with ball marks and damaged spots. Will not be returning. Plenty of other courses in the area that are a lot better.
I played Shaker several times this year and even posted what a great job they have done in restoring the Arthur Hills classic. Much to my surprise yesterday, I went to play 18 holes on the original Lakeside / Woodlands track and see they have begun to decimate Lakeside to put in Homes or Condos right on the course. The site lines were destroyed and the beauty is gone. They have ruined hole 7 and cut it in half. This is a tragedy and the decision makers have destroyed this nine in the name of money. Well good luck on the money. I know that myself and playing partner played the course for the last time yesterday and said goodbye as we drove away and said thanks for the 25 years of pain, joy, and agony it provided for us.
Course was in horrible shape, greens were an absolute wreck and you could tell there was no effort to keep up the fairways. Great overall layout but the course is getting worse every time I go back. Also on a side not the course is run mostly by teenagers who you can tell just want an easy job because they take no care or pride in what they do.Overall take your business elsewhere if you want a fun round of golf.
Fun course.
After playing the Lakeside and meadows 9s, I was looking forward to the Woodlands 9 and those hopes of a nice experience quickly went out the door with the first green covered in pitch marks, making putting more luck by the bounces one would get trying to make more than a 2 footer. Greens 1-6 are really beat up and tee boxes are less than whatd you see on a $20 muni course. Definitely avoid the Woodlands 9. The course is getting 2 stars because the other 18 holes and the carts. That 9 needs shut down for a year and repairs are way past due
Good place to golf
Great course - well maintained and beautiful. Really enjoyed playing in an outing here this fall.
Loved loved this course. Great staff and pro shop! What a fun place to play.
The courses were fun and staff were very kind and accommodating. Thank you to Joe R. and the staff of Shaker Run Golf Club for ensuring a great experience.
Very nice course. Well designed clubhouse. Course is well laid out. Not an easy course. Patience and plenty of balls will get you a decent round. Helps to play it more than once. Familiarity will help. Enjoy.
Course was great a few years ago, now in horrible shape. Greens were bad, fairways were horrible, teeboxes had weeds and long grass all over. Overpriced, drive up the road and go to Heatherwoode or Pipestone.
I live in Columbus and my buddies live in Cincy. This is the perfect in between. Challenging, long, and fun.
By far the best golf course in the Miami valley the staff was super friendly and the course was impeccable the greens were consistent and ran very true 45-41 Ill take that any day
Great day for golf!!!
The course was in absolutely phenomenal shape. $48 for a round and a cart. You get what you pay for, though, and this place is flawless.
Enjoyable round of golf. Course Im great shape.
This was the first time playing the red and green (Woodlands and lakeside) and I was referred to play from my son who played it in college a few years back. Staff was super but the good points stop pretty quick from there. For the money the Lakeside 9 was in terrible condition. Can’t blame it on construction when the greens are scalped and the tee boxes haven’t had attention in months. Weeds not grass was more prevalent around the greens. The layout was nice but lost to poor playability. The woodlands (Red) was better. The first two and last two holes were good but the others were suffering neglect as well. Sorry but certainly not worth the money. Suffers in comparison when I just payed slightly more to play another public course in Batavia OH. Honestly hope it improves but I can’t recommend.
Very beautiful course. A few fairways were in poor shape, probably just some drainage issues, but otherwise very good shape. Really nice scenery for a course in southwest Ohio. Views that are unusual and some really challenging elevation changes.
Had delicious wedge salad for lunch! Friendly waitress and great service . Beautiful golf course!
Great course! Very friendly staff and members as well.
Took a group golf trip here in June 2019. The course is excellent, great design, great condition. Just a beautiful course. The golf staff did a tremendous job with our group.Only issue we had was the wait staff at the bar. One lady working on a busy Friday afternoon. At the turn during our round she made us stand there and wait over 20 minutes to get beers and a hot dog, all while she chit chatted with a seated table of guys eating. No exaggeration, 20+ minutes standing there waiting for beers. Totally unacceptable for such an otherwise great facility.
Went there for a wedding at the Country club. Very nice.
This course used to be a jewel in the area. In fact, I believe it was one of the top 100 courses in the country. I literally had to hit off a tee box today that was made of astro turf, weeds in many places, and greens with blight in many places. I could go on, but it is not needed. The layout is still there, it just needs the care a course like it deserves.
This used to be my favorite course in the city to play. I understand the necessity for a business to make a profit but there are so many houses and townhouses on the course now, I dont recognize it anymore. The place was plush and green. As nice as any private course, in my opinion. They now have lined both sides of the fairways with white out of bound stakes and many are just unfair. That along with their Meadows course which they quit maintaining bunkers a few years ago.Im sad to say that I probably wont play here again.
Shaker Run has turned the corner in its continued efforts to upgrade the course and facilities. The fairways and greens are in great shape and, where completed, the new bunkers are a great improvement. Construction on the Lakeside nine prevents this from being a five-star review. The Woodlands nine is still the best nine-hole layout in the area.
Very nice golf course and clubhouse. Open to the public, but has all the amenities and services of a private club. 27 holes, with each nine having a different design, all challenging and gorgeous. You will enjoy your time here.
Course in great condition. Especially lakeside woodlands original Almost like the old days! Tough place to keep in shape with the expanse and such. KUDOS to the greenskeeping team!! Greens rolled true even though a bit on slow side it was a fun part of the game. Could really go after them. I just wish people would fix their ball marks. Definitely recommend and definitely will be back.
The course quality was top notch. I have never played here before but I can say that I will definitely be back. Very pretty, yet challenging course. Some tee boxes were in rough shape but that didnt bother me that much. Well done Shaker! Well done.
Great track..well maintained..friendly staff..plenty of parking.
Grounds under development, not a good look on a golf course. Was disappointed to pay top dollar and course was just ok. Tee boxes not in very good shape. Cart actually stranded us due to their restricted areas. Wont be back
The golf is good, the food was top notch. I thought the course was well maintained and it wasnt very crowded, so we only had to wait for the last two holes. It seems like a well run place.
I was recently married at Shaker Run Golf Course. The venue is beautiful and the staff is amazing. Ashley has the best personality; she is on top of everything. She and her team were very accommodating to our needs; I did not use a professional planner, so having someone like Ashley helped my wedding go smooth. Our pictures turned out so beautiful thanks to the outside scenery. I have no complaints!
Where to even begin? The staff at Shaker Run was absolutely wonderful to work with! From the moment I met them, their personalities and easy going nature had me sold. They were always responsive to emails and phone calls, no matter how crazy an idea I had come up with. Very helpful with planning. Very patient and always professional. Especially in the last few weeks leading up to the wedding. The Big Day could not have been more perfect! Everything flowed so smoothly, everyone was laughing and having a great time. They were awesome!
The opening 9 holes ( Woodlands ) was worth every penny an absolute delight of play, unique in layout and a visual escape from the norm. Although the second 9 ( Meadows ) was a let down after such high expectations/standards where set on the front nine. I feel that the ( Lakeside ) 9 corresponded with the Woodlands 9. Maybe this is why the two nines are so different.
Ever since this place has changed ownership; you will see consistent improvements every year. My family eats at the restaurant twice a week and my son plays Golf here. I myself play work related tournaments here every year. The food selection has changed 4 times and keeps getting better with a nice mix of favorites for any taste. The course has improved dramatically with a full reconditioning of some parts with more plans to improve the entire course. Yes, housing has begin to take over parts but that just adds to the challenge. The entire staff is amazing; they remember you by name (you would expect this after going so often but in today’s world most businesses don’t), everyone always has a smile on their face, and we enjoy the small talk. I would highly recommend you give this course and clubhouse another try. Give it a few more years and it will be restored to its full former glory!
Wonderful value for money. Played a Saturday morning round Green(Lakeside) to White(Meadows), and while there was construction along many holes of new houses and apartments, the fairways and greens were in good shape for it being the end of July. They rolled pretty fast and true. Certainly helped that I played well, but overall I enjoyed the round and will be back.
Greens were pockmarked. The aged Trumpets dont clean up after themselves.
Beautiful course. Beautiful grounds. Amazing staff that helps in every possible way.
I can absolutely say that Shaker Run made our wedding night the celebration that it was! Everyone was enjoying themselves so much! Ashley was incredibly accommodating. I couldnt have asked for a better venue for facilitating our wedding day seamlessly! Thank you so much!
Talked about joining the course. They threw me the keys to a cart and said check it out. Pro Shop guy Matt was super helpful. Then talked with Ryan the salesman and couldnt have been happier. I was given the chance to play the course...brought my wife and son, they got their own car no problem. Super friendly and family oriented. Im joining!!!! You cant please everybody but I loved the staff and love the course. Thank you Leslie the Cart Lady who is very sweet. Hands down my new home!!!! If my gout didnt kick in I would have played the other Woodlands.
Great layout, but not impressed with condition of the course. Mmmehh.
My husband and I were trying to decide on a venue for our wedding, and we are beyond happy that we chose Shaker Run. Ashley and her team were awesome! Our guests have told us it was one of the most fun weddings theyve ever been to! We highly recommend Shaker Run!
This course was awesome! One of the better courses in the Cinci area. I would know because I have played most of them. This course is a challenging course but fun none the less. Greens play fast and are on the tougher side to read but thats what brings the challenge. Hole 4 and 6 are beautiful as well. One of my favorites courses to play at.
I had my wedding at Shake Run last weekend. They were very easy to work with, professional and friendly. I felt like they really listened to what we wanted and kept everything on schedule. The facilities and food were great, everyone loved it!
Food and service excellent with a cheers like atmosphere. Restaurant is open to the public! Spread the word.
We love living here. We dont golf but the bar/food is decent. Theyre recently started extending their hours. They need to hire a real bartender and real waiters and waitresses though. The neighborhood would keep them plenty busy if they functioned like a real restaurant.
Extremely friendly staff. Fairways and greens are in good shape but would be nice if the golfers would repair their ball marks. Construction on the old back nine is ruining what was once a fantastic layout.
First off, the course is in great condition and fun to play. The one star rating comes from the staff. From arrival until we left, the staff was unfriendly and downright rude. On the first tee, we were told (before we even teed off) that we needed to finish the each nine in under 2:10 because they had a large outing in the afternoon. On hole 9 we were reprimanded for being 10 minutes behind that pace and told to speed up. On the back nine, we never saw the group behind us and still were stopped 3 times and told to hurry up because we were setting the pace and not keeping up with the group in front of us. We were a foursome, and the group in front of us by two holes was a twosome. We told him that we hadnt seen the group behind us in a few holes and that we were trailing a twosome, to which he used the word imperative 20 times and never saw our point. If that wasnt enough, the cart girl was horrible. She never stopped the cart unless you yelled at her, let alone if you were trying to hit a shot. When you did get her to stop, she could not even muster a smile. We finished the round 10 minutes ahead of the time they had told us and went in to talk to them about it. They did not apologize, made no considerations for us and said, Well, I guess it all worked out in the end then, huh?Despite the nice course, our group will not be going back to Shaker Run.
Course is a beautiful layout but maintenance is not kept up very well. Bunkers are in horrible shape. Greens are pockmarked with unrepaired ball marks and tee boxes need better care.
Had our wedding here last weekend! It was absolutely beautiful! Ashley is wonderful!! I could not have done it without her! Definitely recommend for weddings!
Attended an annual golf outing with many co-workers and had a wonderful time.
Enjoyed playing the course with the wife. Staff were friendly and course was in good shape. Bunkers being repaired/replaced. Once that is done this course is going to be our go to place to play!
Nice place. A bit pricey. Good service.
We had a great time. First time any of the three of us played at Shaker Run. Nice course, great facilities and excellent value. Plan to play again.
Beautiful course, I will be back.
Beautiful course decently difficult to play. Be prepared to lose some golf balls if u cant hit straight
First, I would play here again, but only under the right circumstances. This course could be one of the nicest in the area, but there are just some odd things going on here. My foursome played Woodlands and Meadows. I was impressed by Woodlands. The fairways and greens were in good shape. I was surprised considering what I had read about this place. Then we played Meadows, and then I started to understand. The bunkers are the worst Ive seen. Most dont even have sand. Theyre just clay. There were also some little things (often taken for granted) that made the outing less enjoyable. First, there are no trash cans at the tee boxes. Not a single one. There are also no visuals at the tee boxes or on the scorecard to give you any idea of what the shape of the hole is like. This is frustrating especially on Woodlands because there are several blind greens. You just have to hit it and hope for the best unless someone in your group is familiar with the course. Another frustrating thing is that they dont use yardage posts, so you have to go searching for a marker if you arent using GPS or a range finder. I wouldnt go out of my way to play here again since places like Heatherwoode are much closer to me.
Just played this course on one of the best Sundays your going to get in late October. The course was in really good condition. They had some of the best greens that Ive played in the area (better than Pipestone, Moss Creek, etc.). There were lots of leaves on the greens which was quite annoying trying to use a towel to clear out a path to putt, a small leaf blower in the morning would have done the trick. Another let down, like with another review, was the quality of service at the bar. To get one drink and a hot dog took for ever. I dont know what she was doing that I had to wait so long, she kept dropping things and didnt even acknowledge me for five to ten minutes. The prices were decent. At the turn there were two bartenders and the same situation happened. Just seriously lousy bartenders. They dont seem to have any training with this but overall, minus the bar service, the course was fun to play. Great views and quality fairways and greens.
I played this course for the first time ever today and I loved it. I was able to get a really good deal on GolfNow and Ive got to say this course was in great condition. The bunkers had some water in them but thats not something the grounds crew can control. The only takeaway is that the scorecard doesnt have a map of the holes and some of them are blind greens so I had to drive ahead and look but other than that I enjoyed this course. Thanks!
Great new restaurant with an updated menu and beautiful renovations. The new improvements on the course are bringing back life to a great track!
I have worked with Ashley S. at several weddings, she is always ready to go when the moment comes. Ashley and her staff were on top of their game to make sure food came out on time and fresh
Excellent golf course. great scenery and good maintenance for greens and fair ways. very highly recommended golf course around Cincinnati area.I am very impressed about the golf course.
Love the food. Best chef in warren county, ask if Liam is working and your food will be perfect
Do not waste your money. Told course was in good shape but terrible. Do not lie to your customers. Will not b backU asked me to update my review. I will not do that, but I did send u a separate.note on why I rated the way I did.My response summary was submitted in ask the community section of your website
Lovely residential and golf resort. Love the condos. The quiet and sereen area. Very nice..
