I showed her a picture and she told me it wasnt what I wanted. She then went through what she thought I wanted from the picture, complete with showing me on my head. Turns out she was right. My hair looked great at the end. She keeps the place nice and clean and is following Covid protocols.

Thought Id go in and get a haircut based on all the good reviews I walked in a few moments after a gentleman was not greeted or ask what I needed a female walked in 10 mins after and she greeted her &told her she would be next it was like I was invisible I honestly felt discriminated how hard is it to at the very least acknowledge a customer whom is coming to your business for your service? Unfortunately I can not rate the actual service I will not return to be disrespected therefore good luck potential customers.

I have been going to Joy for over 10 years, even before she had her own business. I dont let anyone else touch my hair. Its very difficult to find someone who is great at cutting hair. I have never left disappointed, in fact I have left loving my hair so much that I feel like a million bucks. She always goes the extra mile when she knows I am leaving for vacation to make my hair extra beautiful. Her cuts, color and highlights are AWESOME. Love you Joy! Oh.... and you cant beat the price. I would pay an upper end salon $200.00 for what Joy does for $90.

I have been to Joy Cuts several times for Joy! I followed her from Great cuts where she used to work at! She is the best haircutter I have found in my whole life. She gives me the exact styles and cuts I ask for. Today I had my hair colored with the organic color! It looks amazing! Very shiny and healthy! Out of all the places I’ve got my hair cut at, Joy is the best in the entire area. I used to go to a big name salon to get my hair cut. Seems like every time I found a stylist I liked, they would move on, not be working, or something. Always liked little ma & pop kind of places, so I decided to try Joy Cuts on a whim one day. Was a damn good idea. Joy gives consistently great service. She always does a good job and makes me feel like I am her favorite customer (although I see her treat everyone just as well). I will be going back to see her regularly. Top notch service!

She is an artist that has patiently helped me create several different looks with my hair over the last 7 years. She takes an interest in me beyond just my hair. This was one of the most uncomfortable haircut experiences Ive ever had. My hair was around my shoulders, and I was looking to get an asymmetrical inverted bob done. I showed her the picture and she started saying how I should keep my hair long, that boys like long hair. Did I have a boyfriend, a husband? They would want me hair long, its more effeminate! I told her I wanted this for me, I like my hair short, its easier to manage and its what I prefer.Long story short, by the end of it she cut off way too much. We discussed how it would follow the length of my jaw, and instead its up around my ears and its awkward and butchered. It does not look attractive at all. I didnt realize just how bad the chop job was until I went home and washed it. I should have followed my gut and left as soon as she started in with the misogynistic talk of having my hair long for the sake of men.

Did such a great job with my kids haircut. This will be our family hairstylist from now on! Very friendly and so welcoming. Love love love this place...

Took my nephews here to get their haircuts, thinking joy will do a awesome job. The first one was simple cause he wanted a fade . His bother on the other hand looked like a preschool kid had cut his hair, I was highly disappointed. Not sure the reason why but it might on had been a service member in uniform was waiting so she rushed cutting my nephews hair . Piss poor customer service .

I hadnt cut my hair in awhile... actually it was past my shoulders and heading down my back... too long for my profession. I was a walk in but Joy took me in. Ive lived here for over thirty years and she is without a doubt the kindest, joyful and most talented stylist Ive found. She cut my hair and sent me out looking like the professional people expect.

This lady is so sweet. I was a little scared to go in there at first from the outside it didnt look like a fancy salon it looked more like a barbershop for men. My friend talked me into just going in to feel it out.So I agreed her name is Joy and She was amazing ! Super nice and my air looked amazing when I left. I went back today for highlights and she did so much more to make it look even better. She goes above and beyond to make sure her customers are happy. I was soo satisfied with coming in for the first time. She takes time to listen to what you want / looking for. Shes patient before taking the first cut. She talks it all out with you. I have very long hair and i was thinking of taking 4 in off but kinda skeptical. She suggested 3 because 4 will make my hair feel tooo short. Going to start getting my hair cuts / trims here!!! Joy is a jack of all trades! She can work on anyones hair and make it look amazing. I drive all the way from Des Moines to get my hair done here because no one else pays as close attention to detail as she does. Joy will do exactly what you ask her to do; at this point I tell her to do what she thinks will look good on me and she always nails it! She is incredibly nice, I absolutely love her.

By far the best place in and around Lakewood that I have been to for a haircut. Joy is very friendly, takes her time while cutting or styling your hair to include a complimentary hair wash after being cut. She even gets to know everyone. She knows many different styles of cutting hair including military style. You wont be disappointed. Ive been coming here for well ovet and year and refuse to go anyone else. Tea, water, and other drinks are available as courtesy.

Finding Joy Cuts was a happy accident. I found myself one day visiting the DMV in Lakewood. I realized that I needed a haircut (being in the military). I turned the corner out of the DMV and lo and behold there was Joy Cuts. I decided to stop in. Im so glad I did. Immediately I knew this was not your normal barber shop. Joy was working on a lady who was singing her heart out. I think she was in a choir or something. Joy was singing right along with her. Joy always has a variety of music playing in her shop. She always greets you by name and is so happy every time. She cut my hair just the way I wanted it and has never deviated since. I give Joy Cuts two enthusiastic thumbs up and five stars!

Joy did an amazing job with my now 3 year old back in 2017 she even accepted my last $12 to fix a botched job from Walmart in spanaway. I am glad i came across my Facebook memory so i could figure out where we went as my sister took us there and I was new to Lakewood still. Plan on continuing our business strictly with her in our family!
