It seems very daunting to arrive to a cold, run down building when seeking mental health services. You will then wait in a packed waiting room as people are talked to loudly about insurance, names called repeatedly, no privacy at all. Be prepared for them to be running extremely late as well. The therapist I saw was fine, but overall it was a terrible experience and I decided to never go back.
While we loved our psychiatrist, the communication is just horrible. Try calling to talk to someone, make an appointment, ask a question... its just a horrible experience. I would not recommend them for this reason.
My 9yr old has see Theresa Reese here for 2 years, we have always had good experiences. Theresa is great with my son and takes all of our concerns seriously. Ive never left feeling like she didnt listen or that I wasted my time. The office people are pretty laid back too which is nice.
Seems to be some miscommunication between the front desk and relaying messages to providers.
I love it here. I’ve been going for years. Recently I stopped and I find myself thinking about my therapist daily and I really want to come back and continue my therapy. Super understanding staff and great help with my mental health.
Choose a different practice. And Nystrom & Associates, they’ll send you a barrage of appointment reminders even after you’ve confirmed your appointment (5 in 5 days). Then, they’ll cancel your session less than an hour before it’s supposed to start. Don’t waste your time, choose someone more professional.
I have only good things to say about Nystrom...they are very good communicators and so far after being with them 2 years I can honestly say, not one time has anyone been rude, disrespectful or short with me. They are very caring and loving people and have been a huge blessing to our family. God bless you Nystrom!
My therapist Karen and the office staff are great. Unfortunately, if you need to be prescribed any medication they force you to sign an antiquated contract that treats everyone like a drug addict and they seem to be proud of it. I just walked out after reading through it with the psychiatrist and will look for another provider that treats you like a person. For the record, I have zero substance abuse history.
My suggestion is people need water to drink in the waiting Room....otherwise u can share with Us more information about this issues thanks 👍
I have been searching for several months for a place I could get a mental health evaluation from. I have been suffering with various issues for a long time that have severely effected my life and after years of self doubt...I finally worked up the courage to make a call and set up appointment dates for an over all mental health evaluation. This sounds like a simple task, but I have what I think is anxiety so this was a really big step for me in my journey to improve myself and my health.A month ago I called Nystrom and Associates to inquire about testing and it sounded like what I wanted so the gentlemen who set up my appointments over the phone was very helpful and patient with me and made sure to answer all of my questions. This left me with a really good and hopeful feeling about working with this company. Shortly after making those appointments I started to get anxious and started researching their company, by looking up yelp/google reviews. I was SHOCKED to see the reviews left on yelp. There are pages and pages and pages of horrible reviews detailing extremely grimy business practices and things I personally thought sounded illegal/unethical. Having worked in retail in the past I know most people who have good experiences do not leave reviews, but when someone has a bad experience they leave a rage filled review, so you have to take them with a grain of salt....by the time I got to page four of the horrible yelp reviews I decided that if I cancel my appointments now (because of the reviews) that I would be to anxious to look for help elsewhere. So I kept my appointments and decided to give N&A the benefit of the doubt.Fast forward a month later to now and I get a voicemail from Nystrom and associates stating they had rescheduled my appointments because of the providers schedule and now can get me in much sooner than before. I was EXTREMELY confused. I had set these four appointments up in so much advance because I have a job that requires me to be present consistently and I need to give a lot of advance and find people to cover for me when I need time off. I had to work very hard with my boss to get these times off and covered and I also told Nystrom and associates that I had a vacation with my family coming up soon and I set the appointments up for after we returned so I didnt have to stress about that while out of town. I also have to pay out of pocket for the 170$ + (for one individual test module so could be several in one appointment) tests so they were spaced out enough that I could afford to set the money aside for that without going broke. Fast forward again to me calling them this afternoon over the lunch hour (noon) to find out who rescheduled my appointments and why. The woman who spoke with me over the phone NEVER ONCE apologized to me, not even a fake/forced or customer service typical my apologies. After I tried asking for clarification she told me that the providers schedule wouldnt work for those original times so she wanted to know if I could make the new times work. I told her I didnt even KNOW what the new times were because NO ONE talked to me about this ever! I politely tried explaining that I had to go through extreme lengths to get those times off and that I could not be seen earlier because I was going out of town. She then (again not apologizing) asked me what do you want me to do so I told her to just cancel anything I have scheduled under my name and thanked her for her time.I can not tell you how disappointing and discouraging this experience is for someone who has battled with mental illness for such a long time. It literally brings me to tears because I dont know how much more I can fight this world to try to find even a little bit of help with my mental health. If you were thinking about getting ANY help from this company from any of their locations.. DO NOT GIVE THEM A CENT OF YOUR MONEY OR A MOMENT OF YOUR TIME. They are a for profit company and it really shows. Thank you N&A for making my struggle that much harder.....Also not BBB accredited and 1 star there to..
Not helpful! Staff suck! I had CHRISTA as a therapist and she thought I was to much of a “threat” to myself so she put me in DBT with KIMBERLY and I realize Nystrom & AssociatesIf you aren’t doing well, if your a threat to their company, making them look bad they will try and kick you out! I am shy In DBT and KIM liked to say it’s not fair to the others who’s working hard speaking and your to shy!! I’m trying harder than you think you just want to kick me out of the group she pulled me aside and said that!! And the therapist talk about their families to they just want to see you fail id suggest finding a new Psychology building if your insurance lets you I’d suggest this one this one is great great therapist great therapy very welcoming caring edina executive plaza
They had sound machines in the waiting room. Now they dont and even with the asking for the street number a d last four digits of home phone, ..others can hear you being asked questions or saying your name.
I wish I could give Nystrom and Associates 0 stars. For a company that is supposed to help people, they do not help.
Overall, waste. They seem to specialize in drug treatment and rehab so frankly the other clientele made me uncomfortable. Environment seemed like some sort of government processing center or in-patient facility...this isnt a place for you if youre looking for personal growth or to resolve family issues. Staff seemed to be new to their field, uncertain, etc. Its a mill.
Ive dealt with Nystrom for years they have always treated me with respect and met my needs. Thank you for the oppurtuniy to continue care with your providers.
Very friendly staff.
