I dont know much about cars, these guys couldve taken advantage of that. They didnt, when I got the call, it was a loose bolt and my bill was a little over 60$ for oil change and finding what needed tightened. Huge shout out for honest and good service. Thanks guys!

We run a local family owned plumbing business in Key West and take all our vehicles to Richards for repairs, oil changes, mechanical issues, etc. We have been using them for over 25 years and find them to be an honest, reliable and competent auto service mechanics. We have recommended them to family and friends who are satisfied customers as well.

I called Leslie (the owner) on late Friday afternoon and told him that my push button start wasnt working like it had been. He said it was most likely the battery. He told me to bring the car in on Monday morning and Jay (Leslies son) took great care of me and Leslie was right. It was a bad battery. Within two hours, actually less than two hours, Leslie called me and the car was ready for pick-up. Richards Tune Up is locally owned and is a family run business. There are no turnover of mechanics in and out of this establishment. The only hands that touch your vehicle are the same hands that have been for decade after decade. The business was established by Leslies father, Richard, (hence the name, Richards Tune Up) and Leslie groomed his two sons (Jay and Timmy) to carry on the family business. They are reliable, professional, and are good, honest, hard-working people. You cant remain in business in a small island like Key West if you are dishonest. Richards is a first class establishment. Had some car work done. My car to me is like my baby they took very good care of her. Found a good mechanic with even better prices.

I took my car in due to dashboard not lighting up. When I picked it up I had no wipers no turn signals and no clock. They changed me 100.00 and now have no electrical system.

I dropped my car off and within fifteen minutes I got a call as to why my car was overheating. Richards fixed it quick and for a reasonable price! I highly recommend them!!!

I went to Richards Tune Up today, because my tire had a leak and Jay trouble shot the problem quickly and located the small nail that was embedded in my tire. This is an honest family that has owned this business for many decades in Key West and all the mechanics are all second and third generation mechanics. I would highly recommend anyone to take their vehicle, when needed, to Richards, where they can expect professional service and honest mechanics. Theres a reason they have been in business for so many decades: Quality Service and Honesty!

Horrible experience. Called the shop multiple times on Monday to speak with the shop about replacing a alternator. After explaining the situation of living in Miami and needing the car fixed within a day, Jay confirmed that the shop would be able to accommodate fixing the car Tuesday if I bought it in first thing in the morning because having it towed Monday night was not ideal for the shop.I was able to give the car & keys to the shop at 9:30am Tuesday. Was then told they’d call me shortly with an estimate.4 HOURS WENT BY, before I called to ask if everything was going smooth. It was then that the shop informed me THAT THEY HADN’T EVEN LOOKED AT THE CAR AND WOULD NOT FINISH UNTIL THE NEXT DAY! THEN DENIED EVER TELLING ME THEY COULD DO IT WITHIN A DAY!!!I ended up having to spend money on towing AGAIN!!! To have the car moved to Shifting Gears Autoshop who FIXED MY CAR IN 3 HOURS!!!! 2 year warranty included! And roadside assistance!!!Skip Richard! Not worth the hassle!

Fantastic experience. Spent a lot of time trying to find a short in my electrical system and finally found it somewhere in a circuit going into the instrument cluster. He was reluctant to pull the cluster and install a new one because he wasnt sure that would solve the problem. Suggested a GM dealer might have seen this before. The amazing part is that he would not charge me anything for diagnostic work that took at least an hour!

Awesome, quick, affordable! I found a nail in my tire... I know its not a big deal, but finding quality service on the island is hard. But lo! I came across Richards, gave them a call, and they told me to come right in. 10 minute later my tire was plugged and I was on my way. Exactly what anyone should want for something like this. I will now always bring my car to Richards. Great work, Jay!

BEWARE!! Just to warn everyone out there. I was told this place was honest and would do what they could to help me fix my car but sadly that was not the case. I was quoted for 50-150 dollars to fix a transmission cooler LINE. When my car was done I ended up with a new transmission cooler, the same broken lines and now a bill for 250.28. I was told by Less (the owner) and Jay (the mechanic) that my cooler was rusted and leaking and needed to be replaced when infact it is not rusted or broken and I got my piece back to prove it! They spoke profanities at my husband and I when we told them the car was not fixed for the problem it came in for. Sadly these men are crooks. They took advantage of me and my husband especially at a time like this.....I cant believe someone would do this.... do not take you car here or they will probably do the same to you 😔

Drove in from out of town with a stuck passenger window and they were able to take us the same and fix it. Such a relief considering we had an 8 hour drive back. Would recommend to everyone!

I had truck issues while in Key West. Asked around and few locals referred me to Richards Tune up. When I got there I saw they had a lot satisfied customers coming and going which made me feel comfortable since I was a long way from home. Richards gave me an very reasonable estimate, told me to drop it off in the morning and they would call me when done. Picked my truck up mid afternoon, estimate was right on, truck was like new and made it home with no issues.. A+

Recommended to me by the folks at Banner Tire, one of my old reliables, Richards Tune-Up has now done several projects for me. They do good work, they give good advice, they charge as much or less than what I expect, and, in each case, they have finished much sooner than I have anticipated. They have joined my list of Old Reliables. PS: a bit difficult to find their shop the first time you look.

Called yesterday and asked if they did wiring as the subwoofer in my 1971 Cadillac Eldorado needed to be redone. I told him exactly what I needed and the gentleman told me to come up at 8am and he would take a look. I woke up early to drive my car up there only to be told they dont work on stereos. The mechanic said he couldnt understand what I needed so by default he told me to waste my morning and drive up there. It was obvious they had no idea what they were doing and I am just glad I needed a superficial repair and not something major, as I am sure it would not have been done correctly. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Correct diagnosis and repair the first time.

We made an appointment in advance and told the problem . We were charged 350$ and repair was not done the right way . Our AC doesn’t work completely, and afterwards we came back and told the problem . On which he answered that he doesn’t have time to fix what he has done completely wrong .Terrible experience.

They always do it fast, and get it right the first time and for a fair price. I would not take my car anywhere else!
