Office staff are kind and helpful. But the apartments themselves arent great. My main gripe is the fact that the complex is supposedly patrolled by Metro Public Safety, but Ive had three catalytic converters cut off my two cars, and another vehicle which was stolen out of the parking lot and RETURNED (without the transmission or catalytic converter) without anyone noticing anything.

You get what you pay for - really great price for an old apartment with good facilities. The ground keeper does a great job keeping the dog park clean and making the place look beautiful. The biggest negative about this place is dealing with the office staff. Im not sure if they do it on purpose to try to make more money or if they are really just bad at math, but there were many times they asked me to pay more than I was suppose to according to my lease. My best advice is to look at your lease and make sure they are charging you the right amount each month.

I have had a very positive experience with the management of this company. Morgan has been more than accommodating, helpful, and you can tell in her professionalism that she truly cares about her residents. She makes you feel like no question is out of the norm to ask and has worked hard to resolve all of them. Morgan responds in a very timely manner and does her best to get the situation figured out for you. I recommend leasing from her to anyone.

I want to share any experience living here at Retreat at Walnut Creek. My husband and I have lived here since October 2019. The office staff and management have always been kind and professional. I am always greeted warmly and helped immediately. I moved apartments here on site (lease transfer to get a bigger unit) and all was handled by Morgan and Adam with no problems. Any time I call with a question or need assistance they respond quickly and courteously. Now for the maintenance team- they are awesome! I have a had various things that have needed to be attended to. Always they respond within 24 hours and if they can’t they explain what they plan to do and when they will have the issue resolved. We had a special request to have a bidet sprayer installed and that was handled with a simple form to request the work (accommodation for religious reasons) and it was approved with no hassle and done quickly for us - in both units we lived in. And if I call the emergency maintenance during the weekend they call right back ( once in summer for an AC issue and once for a plumbing issue). I work from home and my home is important to me. The grounds are beautiful and are a nice place to walk with my dog. I really love it here and highly recommend it.

You get what you pay for. Over the last few years, my wife and I moved to Kansas City, MO and chose to live at The Retreat at Walnut Creek. The location to downtown, the price, and the amenities are why we chose this apartment complex. Please understand that the information below is my opinion and experiences while living at this apartment complex. Over the last several years, we have been very dissatisfied with the apartment infrastructure including the staff. The buildings themselves are outdated and not well kept up with. In 5 years, never once was the chimney in our apartment serviced. We stopped using the fireplace in year 2. When you put in a service request, do not expect a quick turn around time. It took over 1 week to even get a response when there was water damage due to our apartment being on the first floor, a large storm, and the building itself was not able to keep the water out. Water seeped into our guest bedroom floor through the walls and floor damaging the carpet and causing mold to grow. This was are absolute last straw. This isnt an isolated incident either. Over the 5 years we did live here, we had several water damage issues related to the structural integrity of the building. Moving past the poorly managed physical infrastructure of our apartment, the property itself is managed... haphazardly at best. The trails are not kept up with. The pond is just sewer runoff. The pool is closed more than it is opened in the summer months. The gym is actually not bad. We did like that amenity. Parking is limited for several of the apartment buildings and the parking spots are very close together. The biggest problem with parking is that the spots themselves have 4 divots (1 for each tire) which can force your car to roll into a curb. It also makes leaving your parking spot difficult in the winter (frozen water in the divots adhere to your vehicle tires). I personally never had an issue with this because I have AWD and enough HP/Torque to handle it, however I have had to assist several people throughout the years to get their cars unstuck from their spots. Over the years the management team has become slightly more responsive but there is a history of no answer and no replies when attempting to communicate with the management staff via phone. Whatever communication you do, make sure it is done through email and in some form of print. Overall, I was able to grow a lot from living here and even though I had several negative experiences, the location to downtown and the price made it a feasible solution for my living arrangements. I will never move back into an apartment that is ran like this. If the above information is found to be helpful for a consumer great. Please remember, these are just my opinions and experiences... what do I know.

When you look at the grounds all the money has been invested in the front office the work out room and the pool. As far the apartments they have outdated appliances. The maintenance supervisor clearly is under qualified for the job. We moved in 2 weeks ago to an apartment that had spiders window seals had dead bugs and spider webs in them. The dishwasher is older than me. They didn’t replace the toilet seats. The doors to our patio are hard to open. There is a lot of mold in our storage unit and was told there is really nothing they can do..😶 expression on my face. This is not a place you want to live. There is not enough parking for tenants and they play favoritism on who they want to enforce the rules. I am posting pictures of the property the mold the unit and the maintenance area. The maintenance area stayed clutter with trash until I went into the office and complained but I was still given a lame excuse. The office is good for giving excuses on why something is not right but they sure collect those bonus check. So before you decide to move into these slum apartments make sure you do a thorough walk through of the unit your going to move into before you sign a lease the pictures below show trash that been left by resident the office was made aware but the allow them to continue to stack trash in front of their door the seats left out the dog poop on balcony this what we had to look at if we looked down. The rotting wood on the decks. They had the nerve to put replace some of the wood so there is new wood connected to rotting wood. Our air conditioner went out 3 days after we move in. Because the maintenance supervisor is clueless when he attempted to fix it 2 times he failed so we where brought 2 window units. See how the installed them and felt like this was ok. The exposed wires had a plate covering them which was painted on the wall. The lease violation of the trash in the front of tenants door the office is very aware but allows them to continue this.

I am not using my actually email - I do not want my name to be known. But there are some things that need to be addressed bad at this property.I have lived here for a few years. I love my apartment i love my neighbors, I love the girls in the office. Courtney was since i moved in, she has left the company I heard. But the new ladies in the office are so nice and sweet. The Assistant Manager (I can never remember her name) is amazing. Any time i need something she is right there to help with it, she really does every thing in that office. The Property manager, I have probably spoke to maybe one time. I never see him, I never see him out of his office. Every time i have came in the office, he does not even look my way he stays in his office and the ladies help me. Any time i have asked to talk to a manager about a problem, they always send me to the assistant manager and she is always so nice and concerned about the problem. In my opinion she should be the one running this apartment complex, she does everything. The grounds here have always been so nice, but they have went down hill lately. There is trash all around the pond, all around the apartment buildings. The trash area is so trashy looking i am embarrassed to invite anyone over to my home because hey have to pass it coming in. There has been couchs out of the gate for weeks now, there is a nasty used mattress, trash all over the place around there it is just not welcoming at all. I have spoke to the office about it and every time i go in there and talk to the girls the property manager hears my complaint and does not even take the time to say anything about it. He is a horrible property manager, i pay my rent on time every month i come in and out of the office enough that the ladies know me and i know them. The property manager could not even tell you my name. It is sad. I have attached a photo of the trash area. It needs some TLC.I really hope corporate really looks into this property. Many things need to change.

I moved into The Retreat back in August and I do love the views here, along with the fact that it has a balcony. They have free parking optional, and they are only a 10 minute drive from downtown KC. For the price, it is a great deal. I will say, this is an older apartment, so that comes with some cons (although maintenance has done a great job at fixing anything in our apartment). The only other con to this apartment is that the room we moved into had some minor damages and a strong cigarette smell that has not gone away, as many people around us smoke. For the price, its overall a great apartment to live at!

The wooded area surrounding really gives it a cozy feel. You are conveniently located within 10 minutes from downtown. Unfortunately, my fiancé and I were a bit skeptical about renting from here due to the lack of security surrounding the parking lot. His vehicles windows were smashed out. This is a common trend at the retreat at Walnut Creek. So I guess there is some good and some bad. It’s very pretty and perfect if you like to go on walks out door. But be prepared for vehicle damage and for your stuff to get damaged/stolen. So other reviews are very accurate when they say how common break ins and vehicle damage are. It’s very disappointing and hopefully this apartment complex can do a better job with security going forward.

I was a renter at the Retreat at Walnut Creek for the past two years. I recently left after a rental house my friend had available became open but while I was here:ProsLocation: The apartments are literally 5 minutes from downtown though it doesnt feel like it. Theyre also located a couple minutes from I-35, I-29 and just a bit further away is I-635, I-435, and I-70. You can almost see downtown from the apartment. I work at a hospital downtown so it was nice to be less than 10 min from parking lot to parking lot.Grounds: The grounds are kept up and well taken care of. Lawn service every week and snow removal was prompt. Our apartment backed up to the woods and it was nice. Its a nice place to walk around.Maintenance: I called twice for things to be fixed and both times they came out the next day and fixed them. They also checked on the place twice a year and changed filters, alarm batteries, etc. They usually gave a few days notice. It wouldnt be an unbiased review without a few ConsConsThe Pool: The pool didnt open up this year due to renovations that never seemed to finish. It was also down a good portion of the last year as well.Parking Spaces: Very small, and the available covered spots you can buy are also very small.Extra Fees: When I rented the apartment the base rent was $929 - after all fees considered (water, trash, pest, utility billing, pets) my rent was $1070.That said I enjoyed my stay here for the two years that I was here and would definitely consider renting here again if needed. For what you pay, given the location, grounds, and such you get a good deal.

When my girlfriend and I first moved in it was couple of issues with out toilet over flowing and our keys not working but everything was resolved same day or the next day. It’s been great having nice shady trails and a gym to easily walk to. It’s also fun seeing all the fuzzy pets and wildlife around the complex since it is pet friendly. The only issue we really have is the pool renovation possibly taking the entire summer to fix which means we won’t be able to enjoy it this season. Overall we love our apartment and most of our amenities.

Very outdated. 30 year old kitchen appliances, and its clear that the flooring, cabinets, and fixtures have not been updated in my unit since it was built. Including the carpet. I can hear the upstairs neighbors and their dogs VERY clearly and loudly. The pool has been closed all summer but the rent has remained the same, so I am paying for an amenity that I cannot use. I feel that the rent is a bit too high. It also inexplicably goes up every year, and my unit remains outdated. There arent enough parking spaces around my building for the number of residents/vehicles, so if I get home late from work I cannot park near my building. They also keep making more spaces reserved, so this issue is only getting worse. The spaces are very small too. The last time the lot was repainted, they made the spaces even smaller for no reason. No new spots were added, just the existing spots made smaller. Every tenant Ive seen has at least one dog, which I wouldnt mind, if they picked up the poop. They do not. My review makes it seem worse than it is I think. Overall, its okay. The two main positives are that the staff in the office are friendly and helpful, and that I like the location.

We looked allllllll over the KC metro and visited about a dozen other apartment communities and this place just can’t be beat. We wanted to live near downtown KC without sacrificing quality, safety, or our budget. At Walnut Creek, we live less than 10 minutes from downtown, we have walking trails, a pool, a gym, a dog park, a fireplace, a patio, utilities (like dish washer and a washer/dryer hookup in unit, and free basic google fiber)...all for less than $800/month. Can’t be beat. Anywhere.(I promise.)The staff is kind, helpful, and responsive. They also don’t have dog breed and size restrictions, which was a massive deciding factor for us. We feel safe and very much at home here. I recommend to everyone looking for the best apartment living in KC!

We fell in Love the first time we saw the place. The location was perfect and fit our needs. Although we asked for a ground level apartment and somehow are stuck on the top floor. After move in It took multiple maintenance requests, phone calls, and months to get things fixed in our apartment but finally it was done in very poor fashion. We’ve gotten lease violation warning for having people in our apartment for more then 48hrs (which is our kids every other weekend and they knew that at move in) when another resident in our building can have company since before thanksgiving and nothing gets sent. Also be ready for paper thin walls to where you can here the people below you snoring at night or your neighbors fighting. They start bugging you 4-5 months before your lease is up leaving notes on your door and emailing once to twice a week telling you to lock in the rent price you currently have you panic like we did and resign which I regret 100%.The fitness center is okay only good thing is it’s open 24/7. As far as the pool I feel it was closed more last summer then it was open. They redid the outside of the leasing office and it looks 100 times better then any building in the community. We have boards on our deck that are coming up, rotten siding and a half painted railing on our deck but let’s make our office look amazing.

I loved living here! Such a cute location that feels very homey. Whenever I had a problem, it was fixed within a day or two at the most. Nice pool, fitness center, and walking trails. Nothing too fancy, but very comfortable. However, I only got about half of my deposit returned. I was charged $40 to clean a tub (which had been cleaned multiple times), $40 for drip pans, and $50 for a mini blind that worked the entire year I lived in the apartment. I understand that deductions happen but this seems a little extreme. When I called the manager to ask about the charges he was very rude and would not listen to what I had to say. Our conversation ended when he hung up on me. Very unprofessional.

Seems like only the people who write reviews are the people who feel personally wronged. Lets change that.Ive lived here about 8 months and heres the good things I have to say: I surprise most people when I share about my place. Ive got almost 1200sqft 2 bedroom 2 bath within 60 seconds of the interstate and 10 minutes from downtown where I work for hundreds less a month than what my friends pay for smaller places that require street parking and climbing 4 flights of stairs. The management has been wonderfully responsive. When I informed them that I thought my thermostat was faulty, I had a new one within 2 days. When I informed them that I was worried that some of the stairs outside were rotting a bit, they had a crew to rebuild them the next day. Its in a cozy area recessed from the busy streets; Ive never heard my neighbors, but I see them outside with their dogs. Weve really been able to make this place our own.The utility bills are higher, but we made some common sense changes and when its all said and done, I still think its more affordable to live here than elsewhere.Id recommend it

I wouldnt recommend living on the bottom floor, you can hear everything above you including people walking back and forth to and from their apartments. When we moved in, the garbage disposal didnt work, the dryer vent is clogged and still has never been fixed, there were mice, and worst of all: the dishwasher had mold in it and when we tried to run it to clean it out, it made the whole apartment smell terrible. The dishwasher was replaced with a cheapy that at least gets the job done, and we have had maintenance in 2 times for the garbage disposal issues. The kitchen is extremely small, there is very limited counter space and cabinet storage, and the showers constantly have to be adjusted because the hot water doesnt last long. The heating circulation is poor because the back rooms are always cold but the main area feels like 80 degrees when you crank it up a couple of degrees. Will be happy to move out into our new home because we will be paying about the same for our MORTGAGE as we are for this little apartment monthly. When maintenance does come, they come at any time of the day without any prior notice and bang loudly on your door.Recently, notices were sent out to inform members that mailboxes were being broken into so the mail was going to the clubhouse, for that I was at least grateful knowing it was safer there. Unfortunately, the mail theft hasnt been the only issue. There have been car break-ins and robberies and apartments have been broken into! I thought this area was calm and quiet but my husband and I have been proved very wrong because of everything that has been going on.My husband works nights and it makes me feel really unsafe that break ins are happening and there is no form of a security system or night watch to prevent them. One positive aspect is that the fitness area is open 24 hours, 7 days a week, and there are many trees surrounding the apartment complexes that make it a little more private.

Blessing I didnt move here after reading the most recent reviews. The leasing process went smooth enough, up until a month before I moved in. Due to the leasing agent either being unaware of her companys policy or just lacking attentiveness to details, she had called and told me I was unable to move into my apartment the day that I had originally had signed my lease for. I was given the option to either to move in a week before or not move in and terminate the lease. At this point, I already had been planned movers for the day I signed, took off from work, transferred utilities to the original move-in date and was scheduled to work the week before. I was also told I would have to pay a new prorated amount, not the original amount I again had already signed for. She gave me the weekend to think about it, I called the next day and left a voicemail that I would not be moving in and requested a follow up call for the following business day with the supervisor. My call was never returned, so when I did call back, one of the ladies in the office seemed very reluctant to give me the supervisors info. Ended up going to the higher ups, Monarch Investment, and getting the issues resolved as best as it could have for the situation. Leasing staff is either inexperienced or careless - either way, worked out better for the simple fact Im not stuck with them and their incompetence for a year.

DO NOT move here!!!!I moved in on March 15th and it has taken them until last week to address the issues that I made them aware of after I moved in. Some of the issues remain unresolved. This includes a completely non-functioning Air Conditioner. The management is full of excuses and no solutions. They barely even answer the phone when you call the office. I get the voicemail during business hours more than a human. I wrote maintenance requests down. I called in maintenance requests. I turned maintenance requests in on their website. None of it mattered. The grounds of the place are trashed. Bare dirt and weeds dominate the landscaping and there is a tire floating in the lake. The carports are dilapidated and in some instances rotting and sagging. The mail box area by my apartment has about 20% of the boxes completely unusable because someone pried them open and the office has yet to fix it. I do not know how long ago that happened because it predates my move in. It was winter when I rented here and spring has not been kind to this place. Bleak frozen ground covered in snow would be a pleasant alternative to the dandelions and overgrown trees.Nothing works and they simply tape up printed notes explaining that things dont work and they are trying to fix it. SPOILER ALERT!!! It never gets fixed. They constantly bemoan that they are understaffed and trying to hire more people. If you want to rent a fixer upper that never quite gets fixed, then this is the place for you. If your other option is a park bench, then this might just be the place for you. If you want to flush hundreds of dollars down the drain living somewhere where the toilet barely flushes, then this would be a wonderful home for you. If you are someone who is looking to trash an apartment, then dont bother because these apartments are already trashed...and it doesnt look like anyone will be fixing them anytime soon.

We just moved in two weeks ago and have already ran into several problems. Upon move in day, after we started to get settled we noticed the Air Conditioner was broken and hadn’t been working. We called maintenance but I took them two days to finally come and see what the issues was. At that point it took two more visits and 2 more days to find the real problem of a pet it needed. That then took another week to be ordered and installed. Along with the infestation of ants and poor service from the office I would not recommend this complex at all. We are currently looking for a way out of our lease.

Avoid it, if you can. They will jump at any opportunity to rob you from your money.First email i received:Hi Diallo,You emailed me on the 1st stating you would drop off keys so we have been waiting on you to drop off keys. I was unaware you left them in the apt. You did not email me letting me know you left them in the apt or that you were out. Here is what I can do for you. You will still owe the final water, that goes for everyone not just you and it is in your lease that you pay for water through the last day of your lease which is May 31. I can’t do anything about that unfortunately. You will still owe $14.90 after your $100.00 deposit, however, if you remove the negative review that you put on line I will not charge you rent for yesterday.Let me know if this works for you.Sincerely,After I gave gave them bad reviews because of my dissatisfaction, they sent me this email:Your final move-out paperwork has been completed and we show that you have a balance owing of $211.42. The one star goes for the location. The location is centric, and clean, they are pet friendly and that is one of the main reasons I moved there. However, be ready to be on a constant fight for over charges. Apparently their system doesn’t work correctly, according to what they said. Make sure you constantly looking at your chargers along with what the contract says. If you think you have time for constant fights and calls from the people wo rent it, then that is your place.MAKE SURE, when you sing your contract to make a video in and out. The paper they give you to check the apartment, make sure you put details, like one of the things they are charging me is the replacement of counters (scratches with knifes), when i got there they had scratches and i did not noted that, so they are charging me for brand new counters. something i did not do, but I did not noted. ALSO, expect to get things partially fixed. You have to wait couple of weeks before all your claims are fixed. AND at the end make sure you give them a check for your last deposit if the amount is not correct on the system, other wise they will take it out of your account. Making you waist more time calling your bank and calling MONARCH INVESTEMNT(which they are as bad in service) no phone provided only email. Be ready for them to take your money. Please read reviews.

Im making this review because it seems like people only review if they wanna overexaggerate some negative experience theyve had. This place IS NOT a 1-star place. A 1-star place is like living in a Motel 6. To rate this place 1 star your previous home mustve been then that NYC fully furnished 2-floor loft.I just want to start off by saying I am a pretty low maintenance guy. I live in a one bedroom and since I pay my rent online the only time I ever interact with management is when Im picking up a package from the office or going to a holiday event in the office. Theyve always been friendly.Ive lived here for a full year starting tomorrow. I started with a 6 month lease and was satisfied so I renewed it with a 10 month lease so I wouldnt have to pay for the short-term lease fee. I have no complaints. I always pay my rent on-time and my gas and electric have been about $50 a piece, but gas was a little higher in the winter. I have never been hit with any kind of fee or payment that I didnt expect. Everything is consistent month to month. In the 12 months that Ive been here Ive only required maintenance twice. Once when my ceiling was leaking because I believe something was wrong with my upstairs neighbors A/C . This was fixed the next day. The other time was when my A/C stopped working. They gave me an A/C unit to use temporarily (the weekend) and then on Monday they replaced my thermostat with a newer one.People are complaining about getting their car broken into and giving it a 1-star rating because the management wont do anything about it. Honestly what do you expect them to do? The best you can do is file a police report. Let me in on a little secret. Crime will happen ANYWHERE you live. Ive never had my car broken into and Ive never been worried about it. I dont keep valuables in my car and I keep all my doors locked and windows rolled up. I keep my blind closed when I am asleep or away from home. I honestly feel a lot safer here than I would at the nearby apartment complexes and thats why I chose this place.I went swimming once here before I was a tenant and made smores at the fire pit as well. It was nice.

Stay away!! Showy exterior and nothing more. If you must live in an apartment, there are better places to live that provide more space for less money.Management changed multiple times during my 2.5 year stay, each one worse than the previous one. Some of the office staff members are quite nice but overall, I felt that the management simply wanted my money with as little work and responsibility as possible.I did enjoy the wooded area and creek behind my apartment but found the patio unusable in the summer due to a large number of mosquitoes. The walking trail is in disrepair and the pond is filthy, with a tire and bottles floating in it. My apartment was extremely humid in the summers and I actually had to have it professionally cleaned for mold (which management did paid for). The patios are rotting apart and while there were a few maintenance workers who were kind and competent, I found the majority of them to be far less so, sitting in their vehicles on their phones and rarely working. A leak from my upstairs neighbors water heater resulted in a HOLE in my ceiling, which would not have been repaired had I not brought it up. And I cant leave out the water stains on my ceiling that were absolutely never addressed. Many people have reported car break ins and even thefts. I had the catalytic converter cut out from my car, requiring over $200 in repairs. Management paid little to no regard to my complaint. The car port outside of my complex collapsed, crushing a car. I was away, thankfully but NEVER received notification from management about the event. Instead, my neighbor contacted me. Over a year later, the car port has yet to be replaced.Save your money, this place is absolutely not worth it.

This gets a 1 star rating because there is nothing lower to choose from. Dont be fooled by the over beautified office that The Retreat has poured all of its money into. Its a facade. The office was recently remodeled and the grounds around the office receive constant upkeep... unlike the rest of the property. The Trash bin is broken on a continual basis which yields tons of trash being dumped in front of the bin that flows out to the curb. The Dangerous Walking Trails have not been cleaned in over a year and are laden with debris, tree branches and broken glass. Broken tree limbs overhang the trails as well. On The Retreat Website, it states “Visit The Retreat at Walnut Creek community today and take a tour of the scenic 1-mile nature trail and the breathtaking lake with water feature.” That would be the trail that I just mentioned above - and the “breathtaking lake” is infested with mosquitos. The grass in and around the units is not mowed on a constant basis. Big areas of weeds are rarely tended to. It seems the new management hired a new lawn service that does poor work. They rarely clean up the mess they make when they do happen to mow. Occasionally there are some young men who ride around the complex with leaf blowers or the like, but they don’t perform any work. They merely ride around on the machines.Mailboxes were/are broken and the doors on many hung open, however the postman continues the leave mail in them. There are burned out lights over the mailbox units as well as in the corridors of the buildings. There is rotted and broken wood on and around many of the building. Designated Carports are available for a 30 or 40 dollar monthly fee, however, those who havent paid a monthly fee, park in the unassigned carports at their leisure. The pool opened late in the season and then was shut down and turned green due to a pump issue presumably. Although the pool has reopened, there are never any lights on, in or around the pool. Pool closing is at 10pm, but if one chooses to stay until 10pm, they will be sitting in the dark for over an hour. People that do not even live in the complex use the pool at their leisure. A group of young adult girls from a nearby street stroll over several times a week and have themselves a nice little pool party, after office hours, or on Sunday when the office is closed. Whether the management knows or cares, Im not sure. The regular office staff, mainly management, is unreceptive. When asked a question of any sort, they are flippant, often claiming to lack knowledge of the situation. Work order requests are rarely addressed. Office staff seems to be annoyed by residents’ presence in “their” office. (Residents are the reason they have a job, are they not?) The management staff prior to this management had a much better handle on keeping the grounds up and addressing maintenance issues. It seems there is a revolving door with maintenance personal since the office management has changed.Other reviewers have stated that the appliances are outdated. They are. Stoves are the old Coil electric burners. Appliances are that yellowish color that was popular a few decades ago. The refrigerators lack proper shelving. They have the carpets cleaned prior to showing the unit, but as soon as you move in, and begin to walk on the carpet, it becomes noticeable that it is very worn out and matted and the padding has lumped up in sections underneath the carpet.Beware of the aforementioned issues. Remember, when considering moving here, what you see is what you get. If it’s broke, it’s probably going to remain broke. If the grounds around you are in disarray, they are probably going to remain that way too.

Since the management took over about months ago it has been a joke. Maintenance takes over 10 days to respond. There is only one person working maintenance since they took over and fired everybody. I moved out after many years and was very disappointed with the new management. I was not informed of what I needed to do with moving out but I was charged almost $400 for the damages. I was charged $25 for leaving cleaning supplies in the bathroom and a box of baking soda in the fridge. I literally did that to be friendly but the management didnt care. When discussing the charges, the management was rude and yelled at me for questioning them. For how loyal and quiet I was as a resident, they were heartless and very mean while checking out. The place was very nice but the management is awful. Additionally, you would be better finding something much nicer for the price.

This is a terrible place to live. Two members of the staff has been very rude to my roommate and I. There always something wrong with the pool. The entire place is infested with fleas and when I brought it up to them the owner was rude, didnt care, and said this is the woods theres gonna be bugs. Its to expensive to treat them. Im sorry I came from apartments that were much cheaper than this in a heavy wooded area but my dog had minimal flea issues and when he did I took care of it right away and so did the apartment complex so they were gone in less than a week! Now Ive been battling fleas for over a month and theyre still coming even when i keep him from the woods and take him on minimal walks because the whole area is infested. But when your areas are infested constantly it doesnt matter how long or how often your dog gets treated when the source isnt being taken care of. For expensive apartments you guys dont take care of your customers right. I cant wait to move out cause I never want to see this place again.

Where to start?! When we moved into our apartments we noticed between all 3 floors that only 1 light worked in that building. Every other light was burnt out, which gives you an unsafe feeling when its dark out. Our lights burn out at least once a month. The dumpster is always full and trash sitting outside. They also advertise having a camera near the dumpster which is completely false. The pool wasnt open on time. When it was open we experienced people throwing parties on Sunday when no one was at the office as well as nonresident coming over to the pool and jumping off the center part in the pool. My parents came over to check out the pool and sadly thats what they saw. I then called security who did nothing about it.Then in October my husbands truck was broken into along with 10 other vehicles. My husband walked out and saw the people stealing from other cars and called 911. The office did absolutely nothing about it and thats when we found out that the cameras were a bluff. We had then found out from a neighbor thats lived there for 3 years the the apartments are known to be broken into as in vehicles pretty often. The same say that happened we told them our dishwasher was broken, it just them nearly 4 months to replace our dishwasher. The parking spaces are just hideous. They are smaller than normal. My brand new car has been door dinged due to residents parking within a foot of each other. The dog park is a nice feature that is when kids arent out there jumping on it. Security does absolutely nothing about it.The apartments allow dogs, which is awesome because we have a dog, but alot of residents choose not to leash their pets and therefore our dog has been attacked twice when were out on a walk within the apartments. The management did not do anything but tell us unless we knew the names all they could do was send out a reminder thru email. The $300 off your next months rent is a joke. We recommended someone to the retreat and was told that in December we got the 300 off. Then in January I got a phone call saying we owed an extra 300 because they didnt do their part in making sure the new resident signed all paperwork when they moved. We had done our part and they didnt do theirs.Im extremely disappointed with our experience here at the retreat. Expect a staff than isnt willing to take even a step to make sure your stay is exceptional. Advertising is all they have going for them, and its false advertising.

Ive lived here for about six months and Ive found my experience to be pretty okay. I do have some pros and cons about the community. The Pros: Ive always had my maintenance requests tended to quickly, Ive never had my apartment broken into and I feel relatively safe in the area I live in. Its well lit and there is a security company you can call about suspicious activity. The utilities arent bad. Mine run around 120 a month for everything. Ive definitely paid more in other communities. The scenery is also really great. Its backed into the woods so its sort of like living in the country. Its really close to Downtown KC and shopping up north. I also like that you can paint and personalize your apartment. They are also pet friendly. Now for the cons: I feel like their staff lacks communication skills with their tenants. Currently, our pool and fitness center have been closed for two weeks because of what was described as a pump issue. I have had to call the office several times asking when the fitness center would reopen. I got several different answers each time. Currently, Im still waiting to get a response. I picked this community specifically for the amenities. The fitness center is small, but adequate for my needs and I was really excited to live on a property with a pool. Well, the pool has been closed more than half the season. I dont get the point of paying extra for amenities if I cant use them. It seems like a bit of a joke. Also, I think the staff should regularly update their tenants on whats going on and what kind of timeline they are on. If the timeline changes, they need to update us.I have a one-bedroom and although there is space, I wish there was more kitchen space for what Im paying for. I also wish they were more updated. I dont think it would take much to make them look a bit more modern, once again, for what Im paying. If the staff were more knowledgable about whats going on with their own amenities, I would give this a higher rating. Ive actually been suggesting this as a nice place to live until the pool was closed and I couldnt get into the fitness facilities. If they update or give me any more feedback Ill be sure to amend my current review. Until then, Id probably say thats their biggest downfall.

I spent 4 years in a 2br 2b here, and then downsized into a 1 br, where Ive been for over 2 years. My previous apartment was on the 1st floor. The view was great, lots of sunshine, and I never needed my AC in the summer. A bit drafty in the winter, but again, it was a first floor unit.My current place is perfect for my dog and I.Maintenence requests have always been handled promptly. When my AC acted up this past summer, they brought me a window unit until they got it fixed. My dishwasher spit soapy water all over the floor, and I had a replacement about 4 days later. The noise levels here are relatively low. I can hear my downstairs neighbors, but not the people above or on either side of me.The dog park would be great if it wasnt full of rocks...we took 4 steps inside, and my dog turned around and headed for the exit. Im guessing they just covered the old tennis court instead of pulling up the pavement. When management changed a few years ago, they inherited a mess from the previous company. The old maintenance crew used to fix stuff with duct tape. The satellite pool was in such disrepair that it had to be torn down. Finding these poor repairs and correcting them takes time.My only complaint is that rent gets raised every year. It makes more sense to keep residents who pay rent on time and take care of the space instead of gradually pricing them out.

Ive lived in the apartment just longer than a year now, and would recommend leasing here.Pros:The absolute best in comparison to places Ive rented before - your water heater and electric box are in your unit! Seems like the super hot water lasts forever and if something simple like your pilot light going out or fuse getting switched, you dont have to wait for a maintenance ticket.SO QUIET! I have yet to hear any noise coming from above of below me, and the older buildings seem to have a higher quality sound proofing that gets cut from more recently built complexes. You can hear much of the noise going on in the breezeway outside from your living room, but it is quite muffled, and sometimes in the bathroom only you can hear loud music etc. but not very well. The carpet seems to be pretty hearty to stains and easy to clean. The entire staff is very courteous and friendly. Its in a very quite area (never any highway noise) with lots of green spaces and woods all around.ConsThe pool is always filthy :( they close it every monday for cleaning but even on tuesday mornings its full of debris like leaves, bugs, band aids etc. I notice this frequently as Im usually enjoying the pool early every tuesday. The pool is surrounded by woods and trees so its probably somewhat out of anyones control, but some of my friends have personal pools in heavily wooded areas and they are seldom so full of junk. The staff seems to not ever really be totally on the ball. This isnt something that has majorly inconvenienced me, and they are so, so friendly and willing to help that it evens out. When I was leasing they called me 6 times because they kept confusing my application with several people whos deposit checks had bounced and they almost voided my lease over it. I had to call my bank to get my money order information and fax it over; not sure if it had been misapplied to someone elses account or what. When I leased and again when I renewed, I submitted paper and electronic copies of my renters insurance, yet throughout the year Ive gotten more than 15 emails about someones been auditing our accounts and we noticed you do not have renters insurance, provide proof of insurance or youll get fined blah blah blah. Then its kind of a hassle to find and re-email all the documents etc.Every time maintenance comes (they DO come the same or following day) they seem to forget the screwdriver, tool, part they need then it turns into a multi-day ordeal. And they always leave important equipment lying around that I have to make time to take back up to the office. Some more general information:Area seems very safeConvenient to just about everything in KC25+ minute drive to walmart :( a small price chopper is just several miles away though.Dog Park is all gravel.

We thought it was great at first, when they FINALLY got the pool open it was great, but after a break in... which I found out numerous people have had, the apartment building has done nothing to notify other tenants or to take actions to stop it. They sent out one email saying there were several break ins around Christmas and their advise was to keep your blinds closed. Now 6 months later there are even more break ins and absolutely NO NOTIFICATIONS. They do not CARE!!!!! The pool has recently been open and there wa no notification for that either. After the robbery all they did was replace the lock and glued the cracked wood around the door frame. Oh yea glue is going to keep them from busting the wood again. I have heard of a resident getting broken in twice before and am now completely terrified until we move in a few weeks. Criminals should not be hitting the same complex over 20 times unless they can tell no one cares or is an inside job.... Security Cameras are not expensive for the price of safety. Even their main office was broken into... where the mail packages are kept! On top of all that they also scammed us on our new lease by adding two additional weeks which I did not notice when signing...our original lease was up july 31st when we signed a 2nd year lease they made the date august 11th. We HAVE to leave in July and are now being pro-rated for 2 weeks. I cant wait to move out.

When I first moved in was very happy with this place. It didnt have the most up to date appliances but the apartments were very cute, the neighbors were very friendly, and I loved the trees surrounding the apartments. However thats all I can really say thats good about this place. The aparments are so drafty my electric bills in the summer time were $150 a month (for a 1 bedroom!!) and my gas bills in the winter were $80. On top of that for the 2 years I lived there I had to call maintence to fix my A/C 8 different times. The place went even more downhill with the new management (Monarch) took over. The manager is extremely rude and unprofessional. These apartments have a very serious car theft problem going on that manager is aware of but does nothing about. There is atleast one vehicle stolen or broke into atleast once a month. I was a victim of my car being stolen from here. When I spoke to management about it, her advice to me was to put a club on my steering wheel. She wasnt empathetic or understanding at all. When the security company they have hired came out to get a report they actually told me that these apartments are paying for the cheapest security possible and just giving the residents a false sense of security.Stay away from these apartments!

Ive lived here about 2 months now. Other posters have been correct in saying the management is lax in informing residents about anything. There has been a severe mail issue that seems to have been resolved. Finally my mailbox is available and has been for a couple weeks although they never told me. The security issue is much better. Havent heard or seen anything suspicous at all so kudos. Back to the management though. The pay system is really screwed up. My bill online doesnt reflect actuality and I got a late charge for no reason. Next up someone else pointed out the age of appliances. They are dated. I checked online. Both the stove and dishwasher are from the 80s!!!! Like seriously? Were paying this much and the dishwasher functions but doesnt clean dishes. The maint guy who tries his best and is doing a great job with limited resources said he couldnt do anything because it still functioned. I almost took a sledge hammer to it and asked him than but I held back. Seems management is more concerned about bottom dollar than the residents. Pool and all were closed for weeks over a pump issue. How long does that take to fix? Management seems inept, communication is non existent. Apartments are severely outdated. For the money I would look elsewhere. However now that the pool is back running it really is nice. And it seems like the staff really tries they just dont know what theyre doing. Or under pressure from above would be my better guess. Bottom dollar. The amerikan way. All that said it IS a pretty community. Lots of woods. Makes you feel separated from typical suburbia and the humdrum. If the appliances were updated and the management cared just a tad extra to inform residents about things this place would be 5 stars and wed stay here for years. Deer randomly walking around. Racoons and other wildlife. lt really could be great.

I lived here for 2 years. Changed management several times. Several months after I moved out I started getting calls about an unpaid gas bill. It was for a time period AFTER I had moved out of the apartment. I called and talked to the office manager. He said he would call the company and do what I can. He told me he would call me back. Never received a call back from him. I assumed he did the right thing and paid for his bill. Not the case. 6 months later, I am still left with this unpaid bill for a time when I did not even live there! I had two friends that were going to move into these apartments. They are now staying away. Do not trust these people.
