Well the gym itself was very nice and had a great free weight selection. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because I forgot my ID and had to go back to pick it up. I was visiting from out of town so that’s part of the visitor pass. I went back to pick it up and an older Caucasian man with glasses was at the front desk. I told him that I needed to pick up my id and he said to let him help the person behind me. I didn’t have time to process it and he made small talk with the guy. It took a long time roughly about 2 minutes. It wasn’t until the other attendant showed up that I was able to get it. I told him I was there to pick up my ID and it literally took no time at all. I’m not saying I was discriminated but I’m also not saying I wasn’t. Just a weird interaction. I just don’t know the reasoning of helping the person before me in line but guest perception wasn’t really thought of in this case.
Baileys Gym is amazing. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend taking the Body pump class and Ignite, the instructors are the best. Im so glad that I became a member.
Main floor is warm for several weeks. Apparently air conditioning cannot be fixed despite many attempts!!!
I have had a great experience so far at this gym . Miss Kerri has helped me so much with getting started! Torrie phenomenal at communicating gym benefits! Total recommend this gym ❤️
Super easy enrollment. The lady at front desk made everything quick and painless.
Just like other Bailey’s locations. Awesome gym, awesome staff
Bit pricy but good place
Anyone complaining about the fees does not take their fitness seriously. I workout 3-4 days/week. I pay $40/month to have access to every location, plus the performance rooms. Yes, you will pay a registration fee, get over it, this is standard with any fitness club. The water fountains are no different than any other gym. If youre expecting a 100% clean fountain, just stay at home. The best fitness club in city, no comparison.
Following COVID I was emailed that they were suspending the account. Never did I receive an email that they had began to bill it again. After billing for multiple months I contacted their Corporate office. They said they can not help me and that my cancelation requires 30 days notice, so they would be billing me for another month in which I would not be using the membership. I can only imagine how many other feel as though they taken advantage of during this time.
Just joined, Jeff was awesome in explaining membership & packages, no pressure information sharing, signed up for 2 year membership and got another 6 mo free...just do it!
Great place, music choice is usually lacking. Same station, lots of sad music rather than anything hype. I think old rock music, or any rock would be great.Otherwise the amenities are great, and the staff is super helpful.
When are you updating the stair masters at Baymeadows? Been around for 20 years and always break preventing members from fitness needs. Poor quality equipment at this location.
This has been my gym for close to 10 years now. I love this gym they have every piece of equipment you could want. The staff is friendly with everyone who comes there, the place is always kept clean. They are always upgrading the equipment which makes it why I love this place so much.
Recently got a membership here, place is neat, clean, and well maintained.
Great gym and great environment been a member on and off since 2016 great plans and clean equipment
Ive been going to Baileys for almost 14 years great place
Still a staple of health and convenience
Good for a commercial gym but doesnt have some of the equipment youd expect from a powerhouse like an axel bar or a log
I always enjoy my workouts here
The friendliest and most knowledgeable staff! I called in twice and both times they were very patient with me.. David is awesome and very professional!! Thanks again :)
Bad wifi signal
Broken appointments, on more than one occasion. And consistently fail to maintain equipment/dry sauna despite being it to their attention repeatedly. They’ll say they’re fixing it, but months later the same machines are still broken and the same sauna is nothing short of a decorative prop for the gym room.Spend your hard earned money else where at a real gym.
Nice but they only allow 2 guest visits per month
I love Baileys! The fact that there are multiple locations in Jax and several that have 24 hour access means I can always workout! I love the classes too.
The Philips/Baymeadows Baileys location is not following CDC guidelines with employees. Employees not wearing masks. Not much hand sanitizer either. Lots of times trash is full.
The best balieys gym in Jacksonville IMO. 24 hours and plenty of space for social distancing. Big locker room, One thing is annoying they dont have 2 of each kettle ball weight.
This is a perfect small gym for early morning workouts, very convenient and quiet.
Smaller compared to some of the other Baileys in Jax but wasnt nearly as crowded. No basketball court.
Took them so long to fix equipment towards the end of last year. Budget your maintenance fees. The water fountain is warm and gross and only spits out the old fashioned way so if you have any water container bigger than a plastic water bottle then you’re not filling up your container. Only half full ocean runoff tasting water thats room temperature. They also false advertisement and say you receive 10% at Larry’s Giant Subs and I was informed by Larry’s it’s only for corporate orders. Going to planet fitness instead lol
A family friend was the victim of a smash and grab today. She had just left Baileys tossed her bag in the car and walked to CVS. Came out a few minutes later to see someone had smashed her window and stole her gym bag. She promptly reported it to Baileys who with much compassion and understanding, informed her she would need to pay $30 for a new gym pass. What a wonderful company. Your members are robbed and your reaction is to quickly charge them for loosing there gym pass.
Many pieces of equipment in decent condition, but I think some of the stuff is a little old. If I could upgrade one thing right now, it would be the barbells. Theyre very worn with poor sleeves and knurling. A deadlift bar would be nice. Overall a clean and large gym, good for 90% of people.
The men’s sauna is down at least monthly if not weekly. Just a condescending hand written sign on the sauna scolding people for putting water on the coils (I’ve never seen anybody do that). they only had 1 scale for the entire building. You’re a gym and I can’t weight myself? The gym itself was okay, it worked, until I tried to cancel due to me moving hundreds of miles away from work. They made the process as difficult as possible, the employees I spoke to at this location were rude, along with corporate via email. I did talk on the phone with one friendly employee but everything she said she would do for me never came to fruition due to the people I spoke to via email. Save yourself the hassle.
Ive just returned to Baileys and found that Aaron (boot camp instructor) is still there. His classes are amazing. I started taking his classes over 5 years ago. Ive returned to see the same people (a many new faces). I love that Aaron teaches in a true military boot camp style.
This is my first real gym experience, and its been wonderful for me. There is a lot of equipment--weights, machines, and cardio. While there is often a machine or two needing something repaired, it happens in a very timely manner, same week service. I have found the fellow customers to generally be easy to get along with--will allow me to work in a set on a machine they are using, some offering to help off-load multiple plates that were left on a leg press machine, etc.I meet with a fantastic trainer once per week, and hes helped get me motivated and on track with fitness and eating. He also helped recognize an injury which led to my going to physical therapy for a couple months to increase strength and get better. So thankful for the expertise in David. Im thankful for the healthy changes Baileys has facilitated for me!
Its sad I cant rate this any less than one star. For anyone looking to join Baileys, I must warn you be prepared for the inconsistent Customer service the front desk provides. Having worked in customer service for 5+ years never have I been given such awful customer service. The way they speak and inform you is extremely condescending. They only care about making their commission once they get you signed up. There have been countless times I have been charged fees I was unaware of, not to mention they dont notify you when they are adding charges until it has already been withdrawn from your account. For the year and a half I have been with baileys I have been counting down the days my membership expires. I left another gym hoping that baileys would be able to match or even top the equipment and service I was receiving else where. And when I signed up everything was grand until when I started having questions on my account... The manager would speak over me telling me he was unable to assist me and continually referring me to cooperate. I finally got ahold of cooperate Thank Goodness Haley was able to see my frustration after a year and a half. The equipment at baileys is great but it doesnt justify the awful customer service.
Customer service here are like car salesmen. Its been a hassle trying to adjust my plan. They only care about money especially during times when people are canceling their memberships.
I LOVE this gym. The new renovations are amazing. This facility is always clean and the staff are wonderful. I love the play area and the group fitness classes. The 24 hour access is so convenient. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone.
Best staff you can ask for, they remember your face, your name and always keep you motivated to kill your workout and there to help you recover. Trainers are knowledgeable and live the lifestyle. There is always group fitness happening around you. The gym is usually clean unless its the peak hour when most are transitioning from work to gym. Never too busy to squeeze in and share equipment during other sets.
I have been a member since 2007, signed up with Kaye. Awesome staff that takes care of their members. The trainers are always ready to answer any questions you may have. Great gym! Great price!
They got all u need and some....its more than working out its a way of life
Completely dishonest when signing up for the 2 year contract. The first month is not prorated. You still pay your full month the day you sign up. They say the month is prorated when it’s actually a convenience fee on top of your first month full payment even if your only there for 2 days of that month! They will not make it right by the customer at all so don’t bother calling cooperate. Also they have 20 fees every time your card is declined. I should have went with LA fitness even though it cost more. You get what you pay for.
Lots of great group classes with awesome instructors. Doesnt matter if you take Ignite, Boot Camp, Body Pump or Strike Zone, you are sure to enjoy all of them!I am however slighted by the fact that I have seen some of their personal trainers on their cell phones while training. This is a no no and quite surprised that it happens here. This has deterred me from signing up for personal training sessions, although I wanted to, as I think this is ripping their clients. Actually more surprised that the clients think this is okay. In my previous gym, not once did I see any trainers use their phones on the floor. Also, they dont accept kids in the gym or in daycare from the age of 13 so if you have dependent kids of that age, you will have to arrange for their own care. The Y is better in that it accommodates pretty much all the ages.
Lots of equipment. Its clean. Always good
This gym has turned out to be another Planet Fitness in the making, with added costs. Not only have they now sealed off an area of the gym for which they require a Platinum membership for but they are also singling out anyone who makes too much noise which is of course a subjective claim that anyone can take to mean whatever they want. Upon requesting that my membership be cancelled so that I could join a real gym I was told that although the nature of the gym environment was misrepresented (they advertise intense training is welcomed) they would not cancel. Since I time left on my contract I will have to wait until the end of my contract to leave, however I will clearly not be renewing and I do NOT recommend this gym to anyone
Not a customer oriented business whatsoever. My wife and I cannot work because of the outbreak, we are down to my military disability check from when I was in the army, its not enough for us and my two daughters to survive. I called to see since I have the premium membership at 39.99 but dont use any of the premium services if I could transfer to the regular membership to help us get by, since I dont use the premium things. I was told that my contract states 2 years and they wont budge since its what I signed. We dont know how were going to get by and it felt like they didnt care at all and just want every dime they can get.
Excellent facility, staff are very professional. Many amenities ranging from a sauna to professional trainers on staff. Wide range of machines available with classes held on site.
The gym itself is really nice and equipment is new and well maintained. However, the customer service is terrible, the fees are outrageous and you can expect to be charged for everything possible. I had to cancel early due to moving out of state and when I went in to cancel, there was a $50 dollar cancellation fee that the store associate ensured me would be refunded once I showed proof of my address change. After I moved and emailed their corporate office, they refused to give me a refund. If you are looking for good equipment, they have it. Just be prepared for extra fees on anything and everything and run into deceptive and plain terrible customer service.
I don’t like this manager at this gym🤦♀️
I can get everything done in all the Baileys Gyms. Great for working out, running, or sauna.
I honestly chose Baileys over any other area gym because of the 24/7 access at almost all the locations and it actually feels like a gym, plus it’s local and I’m all about supporting local business. It can get super crowded during peak hours so definitely be aware of that, because parking can get ridiculous and it may affect your workout regiment. If you go regularly, the staff will come to know you by face and they’re always super friendly. The only major downfalls that I’ve found at the Baymeadows and Philips location is that there’s only one set of water fountains, and the gym is a bit of a pain to get in and out of the plaza.
Nice, big, clean gym with friendly staff and regulars. Nice variety of equipment. When something breaks it’s usually fixed quickly. Seems busiest on Monday’s after 5pm.
Love, love, love this gym! Especially the front desk crew! Nice and big open floor with tons of machines and free weights.
Thank you everyone for their 1 star comments, I was going to join but after reading the reviews, I think Ill go to LA fitness. Thanks guys
Steady flow of people. Clean and courteous..
Was under doctors orders for bed rest while pregnant (which, i was also out of work) and I temporary suspended my account and later on after I had my baby and was cleared to resume all activity, I was told that I owed over $400. Not fair. This used to be the best gym, but it went downhill ever since they moved the location from Baymeadows.
The gym itself was fine (my gym was in Gainesville); however, the corporate office does not have a place to leave a public review so I will leave mine here. I contacted Baileys Feb 11, 2017 to cancel my membership ( I have my wireless carriers call log to prove it). At the time of cancel, I was told that the company take a another draft from my account due to the 30 day draft period, which was fine because I wasnt moving until April and could use the gym in March. To my dismay, I checked my account today to find that I was charged in March AND April 2017. Called corporate and they stated that because I did not receive a confirmation receipt and they do not have notes on file, they will process my cancellation effective today and my account will be drafted YET AGAIN. This will make TWO MONTHS that I will be unjustly charged and unable to use their facilities due to their negligence. They do not record their calls (sounds suspicious to me...) and the girl on the phone had the audacity to ask me if I recorded the February conversation. WHY WOULD I???!!! When dealing with a company with integrity, you shouldnt have to. My second call was made today, May 4, 2017 at 2:36pm. I will post this review on every Baileys gym possible because your members have a right to know how corporate handles (long-time btw) members when they desire to cancel membership. If you value integrity in a company, you may want to look elsewhere.
Great staff, solid gym. I read 2 pages of reviews, people are whiners and complain if the toilet paper isnt charmin ultra. Someone complained that there werent enough tv channels.. really? Probably the same guy who sits on a machine for 22 minutes playing angry birds. Buncha softies. Its a gym, go exercise. Thumbs up
Lots to do..friendly atmosphere..great motivation..
I love baileys its like my second home its fun and I get what I need done. The quality of the gym alone is 5 stars. If you dont know about this baileys gym on Phillips then you sleep
Really, really dislike the new location. Ive been a member for 7 years and will cancelling soon. There is a TON of cardio equipment and weights but no good space to do stretching or mat/medicine ball work outs. There is a large space with turf but they hold classes in that area during some peak times because there is only one class room now. Bathrooms are amazing, seems like they spent way too much money on giant bathrooms when no one goes to the gym to hang out in the bathroom. Really disappointing.
Went back in March with intention on joining. Probably the best gym in town, but when I asked for a free trial I was given attitude and treated like a criminal. Yes I had an out of state ID because I JUST MOVED here....somehow that was a trigger for them. I actually went back after the trial with the intention of joining and got attitude from another staff member because I was asking (too many?) questions about membership. She did not seem interested at all in having me join. Oh well....plenty of other gyms in town. These people really dont understand customer service.
The worst workout music out of every gym I have ever gone too. It feels like a womens jazzercise class picked this music for their cool down period
Been going to this gym for 3 years and still cant find a better workout atmosphere. It does get crowded at times but you can easily look up the times it is most crowded and work around it. A+ gym.
Great location, great management! Plenty of equipment, a different experience than the nationwide gyms.
People are coughing and sneezing so I dont think its safe to be inside a closed room!
Big place. Has everything you could want in a commercial gym
Adequate array and variety of equipment. Gym is kept clean. Equipment is maintained in good working order. Solid management.
Do yourself a favor and do not sign a contract with this gym. I was a member at the Baileys Gym in Gainesville FL, so my review does not pertain to this physical location, but it does refer to the policies and the corporate entity that owns it. The staff that sign you up will not adequately or accurately explain the contract and give you false information. I was told that I could very easily exit my contract if I had medical reasons or if I moved more than 25 miles from a Baileys location. What they neglect to tell you is that the medical reasons that you must provide are some that have to persist for the entirety of your contract. So after a car accident that resulted in a misaligned spine and pelvis where I could not actively use the gym for months due to doctors orders I still had to pay for a membership since the doctor set my recovery time with PT within the time of my contract. Next they will gouge you for every fee if you move out of the area, $50 for a cancellation fee, $30 for the last month, an additional $30 when the initial notice you originally provided to staff at the gym was not recorded, and then another $30 when the documents you provide to prove you have moved are not sufficient. Corporate will return your calls days after you leave them messages, the managers will not be able to take your calls when you request to speak with them, and as a corporate entity they will do everything in their power to drive you for every last cent. I have been a member at gyms where equipment was not maintained to the degree of actual physical danger, I have been thrown from a treadmill due to a loose track belt, I have even been mildly electrocuted due to a short that was left damaged in a watering fountain, I would gladly go back to those gyms rather than set foot in a Baileys health and fitness again.
I removed the bad review And now i will give you 5 stars because the WI-FI signal now it’s betterThank you
Be really careful before signing up. I signed up for 2 years contract, but I had to move out of state after 1 year. I paid $50 penalty, 2 months gym fees, and $50 maintenance fee. You also need to send them proof of new address which I sent twice, but they think those are not sufficient. Now, they sent me another bill($169) because of it.
It works! Just have to stick with it a d eat better.
Terrible sales team. Didnt really listen, nor cared about potential members. Typical Baileys.
Been a member for almost 5yrs. Great facility. Staff and classes are awesome. Would recommend in a heartbeat - love it!
Solid facility. I love that this gym isnt a social club nor do they give out free pizza to gym members. The only gripe I have is that it is always crowded Monday thru Thursday. Other than that it really is a great facility.
This is my favorite location! They have a wide variety of equipments and my favorite... an athletics room with boxing bags, ropes, sled, etc...The place is cleaned regularly by the staff, I always see someone cleaning the bathrooms when I go.They have a juice bar, sauna, tanning beds and all kinds of different classes from 6am to 7pm. Additionally they have a ton of merchandises.I havent had an issue with billing yet so I have no comment on that. They dont have a pool or a jacuzzi, basketball court or raquette ball court but frankly theres just so much to do those things that arent included arent really missed.
Love this location. Its got all of the must have amenities! They do a great job of keeping it clean there, and offer tons of class options.
Love this gym! It is always clean and so well run... plus has the best trainers available.
This gym is awesome! Always clean with great classes!
This gym has gone downhill big time. The customer service is nearly non existent. I went to cancel my membership and was then billed for the yearly club enhancement fee on top the next 30 days. When I called into the corporate office, I relayed my concerns regarding the enhancement fee since I was leaving the gym. They refused to remove the yearly fee and hung up the phone on me. The call was made on March 8th and I went back in on March 16th to workout and was told my membership was already canceled. They wouldnt work with me at all. You will experience a major headache when you decide to leave this gym.The training room is no longer accessible to any member and now requires a platinum membership. The locker room is average at best. The equipment is average at best and is showing signs of wear. Machines are constantly unavailable due to broken equipment.
Their policies are misleading. My husband and I were on the same account and ended up needing to cancel due to relocation. I had to provide utility bills and my new driver’s license before they would even consider the cancelation. After providing the necessary documents and paying the $50 cancelation fee we thought we were taken care of. It wasn’t until four months later when I received a collection notice for ANOTHER $50 cancelation fee that I realized their business practices are shady. Even though we were under the SAME contract and SAME household, we still had to pay individual cancelation fees. Beware, any adults on your membership will have individual fees if you need to cancel. They DO NOT make this clear when you sign up or go to cancel your current one. I will also note that in order to be on the same membership they made us provide our marriage certificate; another practice that I found odd. There are plenty of gyms in Jacksonville. I suggest you look at other options.
Love their bootcamp works there in the mornings! Prie is amazing and totally works you hard at 6am! Make sure you get in a class with her!
One of the better gyms in jax, if you pay for the more expensive options, which is only like $35, you get plenty of things to do like classes and tanning, which i personally dont use but still cool the option is there. Pretty standard around 5 it gets busy. Good equipment and plenty
This location is terrible. San Jose location is great. Dont waste your time with this one. Customer service is non-existent.
Cant afford actual cable guys really? Theres like 20 channels on the TV which are CNN, 3 ESPN channels, lifetime, two DIY networks, fox, abc, nbc and other various local channels. Cant believe Im stuck with this for a year now 😒I actually mentioned to the front desk person that was important to me but I guess that cut they got from my membership made them forget 🙄
Ur standard gym in the neighborhood.. good equipment and clean. Prices are going higher and higher tough
People can say what they want.. But, this darn place gave me the tools I needed to change my life for the better.. Ive met some of the best instructors that Baileys Powerhouse Gym has to offer.. Now on another note..The bad side, IF your paying these fees to come to this gym they need to do better with the fans in these dance & fitness classes.. Its unbearable @ times and if youre not careful a heat stroke may just happen.. One instructors that I know of at the 103 location, passed out in the parking lot💫💫😣 So be very careful of over heating while trying to get your fitness on in these classes.. I hope theyll do better with listening to there customers.. But hey, if they cared😋 Im sure the problem would get fixed.. 😒Hopefully
So, When you move to a place that there isn’t a Bailey’s within 100 miles they say they will let you out of contract with proof of residency. When you provide the proof they find another reason to not let you out of contract. They will tell you the proof was 5 weeks late and they don’t care. Beware!
Nice gym, great staff but def needs to fix equipment faster.
Worst location. Would definitely spend the extra 10 minutes to drive to San Jose. At this location the wifi never works, half the machines dont work like they should, restrooms are dirty, and its really small with too many people. Definitely will not come back to this location
The Manager Baymeadows/Philips Highway who is a man is arrogant. When I signed up they knew my disabled child is 13. No one bothered to tell me they will not accept her age group at the day care despite the fact that her mind is that of a 6 year old. I signed up for $37.43 per month precisely for the child care so I can exercise in peace. Had I known they would not take her I would never have signed up. This arrogant manager said its policy and there is nothing they can do and I stuck with my contract. I made the mistake of signing up for 2 years!!! The rest of the employees are emotionless and unfriendly. The equipment is old and one is always broken down for repair.I truly hope one of these days they will lose their monopoly of Jacksonville. Bring back Golds gym or build more LA fitness. Give these people a run for their money. Local is not always better.Do not sign up with Baileys. Any branch. You are better off at Planet fitness or LA Fitness. No i dont wrk for either of these other gyms. But youll thank me later if you heed my advise.
Not too crowded, good selection of equipment, well-maintained. Good looking females.
DO NOT. NEVER SIGN ANY PIECE OF PAPER THEY SHOVE UNDER YOUR NOSE. EVER!!Bad customer service. They are all liars there.I would never recommend anyone to have a membership with them.
Dont sign a contract if there is an inkling that you could move within that time. Regardless of what they say, they are impossible to get ahold of in their corporate office. My husband and I moved out of state and were told in the beginning that it wouldnt be a problem to just call them and send a proof of new address and there would be a $50 fee. He has called numerous times to get hung up on, patched to voicemail and no response regarding this issue while meanwhile, they happily take out money on a monthly basis. This is a reason I did not want to rejoin because of similar issues in the past but the lady at the front desk reassured me that things had changed...they have not. Sign a contract with them at your own risk!
I left the Jacksonville area in April 2015 and sent them my lease in January 2016 to confirm that I did indeed leave the area (I am over 150 miles from the closest gym.) I never heard another word from them until a collection agency called me yesterday stating that I owe them over $500. I called corporate to see what was going on since I faxed them my lease and they told me I needed to show them confirmation that I faxed it. When I faxed it in Janaury, I called and the corporate office confirmed that they received it. I didnt know I needed to keep a paper copy for 8 months. Now, theyre saying there is nothing they can do for me, they wont accept my paperwork now. This is the WORST customer service I have ever heard of. I can prove that I havent lived there since April 2015 and it doesnt matter? I wouldnt recommend this gym to ANYONE... Ever.
Great place to workout
Gym is generally clean. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the energy just right. Spacious floor and decent locker room.
Service was good when I joined but I agree they moved without notice and the new location causes me not to be able to make it on time to any 545/6pm classes. They keep saying its only 1.2 miles down the road but 1.2 miles at 5pm on Baymeadows with traffic adds just enough extra travel time that I cant get there. Then when I ask to downgrade my membership so Im not paying for unlimited classes and childcare I cant use they said no. Talk about poor customer service. I chose the gym based on location and now I cant make it to the classes on time....but they dont care. I went to going 4 days a week to being there 5 times since they moved. I dont want out of the contract just a modification because of something I had no control over. Very sad!
