Dropped in for a workout and had an awesome time here. Great vibe, great coach, will definitely be back here every time I’m in Jacksonville. Coaches here really pay attention to their people and know great coaching cues. Learned a lot in just one workout here. Check this gym out, you won’t regret it!
I came today for a drop in class (I’m from TX and have a box there). I had a great experience. It was a great workout, and the coach/owner Daniel was really nice. I felt really comfortable there and I appreciated his positive energy and encouraging words. I could definitely see myself coming back here. If you live in the area and are looking for a place I would give them a try for sure.
I dropped in this week to check the gym out.First the good:-The facility is great.-The location is even better (for me).-The people I worked out with made me feel welcome just as if I was already a part of this box. True CrossFit family folks, thats why I love the community. The bad:-The class I attended was full with 16 people and only one coach. That may be status quo some places, this is just an observation and just not what Im used to.-I saw little to no actual coaching going on during the class. The WOD had overhead squats and there were obviously newer members there, if it happened, I saw very little feedback. I mean, Ive been doing this for a couple of years and I still need pointers on form/etc. I did however see the coach have enough time to be taking video/pictures during class.-When I walked in the coach asked if I was the drop in, I said yes, I just moved here and am looking for a box. He made sure I signed a waiver, pointed out where the equipment I needed for the day was, and those were the last words I heard from him. Everywhere else Ive been so far the time has been taken after class to go over pricing/plans/programs offered/etc. Here it just felt like I just needed to get out of the way for the next class. So, first impression. Nice gym, GREAT people, critically understaffed, distracted coaching.I may have dropped in on a bad day, we all have them and I understand. I did get a good workout, but I will not be using this box as my new CrossFit home.
Dropped in twice this week the coaches were friendly, knowledgeable and excellent. They even remembered me by name when I walked in for my 2nd drop in which was three days after the first time. The box was very clean and well organized. The athletes I worked out with were super friendly and very supportive. I would recommend this place to anyone I will definitely drop in again next time Im in town.
Amazing experience as a first timer, my personal coaching for on-boarding took the fear of trying CrossFit for the first time. THANKS DANIEL!!! There is a positive family supportive vibe going on with everyone you meet. Just started taking classes, everything is structured and workouts posted online daily. The whole system is effortless, best decision Ive made this year.
Great 5am class. Full class with a great energy.
Really nice gym. I would recommend going and dropping in for a day. Really nice people and coaches.
Black Hive runs the best bunch of boxes in Jax. Great people with the most professional coaches and ownership. Once you join you are part of the family.
Great instructors! Great members! They work hard but have a very laid back atmosphere!
Ive been to about 20 different boxes throughout Florida and this is my favorite.Heres why:Atmosphere: 5/5People seem really close here. They seem like they all know each other and like each other, and people help clean up and set up workouts together in a way that you dont see other places. They even play kickball together. Despite the fact that its a tight group, they are very welcoming. I have stopped by three times when in town and the coaches have remembered my name, which always feels good.Coaching: 5/5Ive been there three times with three different coaches, and each one has been attentive, but also pushed me. They are also funny. Furthermore, they make it fun and manageable for beginner to experienced crossfitters. If they think you can do better, they will push you, but not in a pointless way. Its a tough balance between too encouraging and not encouraging enough, but they pull it off.Facility: 4/5I had to give one part of this review a 4 just to seem like I am somewhat objective. Im not. I love this gym. However, if a 5 is a gym like Crossfit Country or Crossfit Maverick which are both 10,000 sq ft plus (or something like that... huge) then this has to be a 4.Fun Factor: 5/5Great programming, great atmosphere, great people and a dog named Nancy Reagan. Honestly, its super hard to go wrong here.TL;DR If you like to complete WODs, go to here and enjoy.
I think this place is closed. I drove to the address and no crossfit there. also no one picks up at any of the phone numbers listed. I also tried posting to their website and no response.
Amazing, best gym Ive ever been to
