Best haircut 💈 in Jacksonville, excellent price and service
I am currently attending barber school. One of the things that I like to do is to go and visit different barber shops around town. In doing so I try to see the difference in environments, techniques, and customer service. This helps me learn what kind of shop I should look for to work in the future as well as what kind of service shall I provide to customers.A couple of weeks ago while driving down Cassat Ave I noticed this shop and for some reason it stood out and I even thought to myself that it might have been a new shop that had opened recently. Even though there are many barber shops along this specific avenue I noticed something different, something classy, something old school from the outside looks of this shop. They say not to judge a book by its cover, so today after work I decided to stop by and give this shop a try. There was no one parked outside of the shop when I got there, but since their Open sign was still visible I walked in. I was greeted by Mrs. Debra, the very nice and welcoming owner of the establishment. After consulting with me and what kind of haircut I wanted, she turned the sign to Closed. I had just walked right in without even paying attention of their hours of operation. I had walked in right at 5:00pm. But she smiled and greeted me as if I had come in with enough time before closing.During the hair cut I proceeded to ask questions about her and the shop and the area, a usual thing I do whenever I do my little barber shop tours. To my surprise they were celebrating this month (07-2017) their 35th year in business. Mrs. Debra was able to execute my hair cut (a traditional side-part pomp with a skin fade on the sides and back), and carry on a very engaged conversation with me. This is something I do enjoy a lot. As a barber student, all my friends and clients want to talk to me about their day, life, etc. So I cant understand when people just want to sit quiet during a whole hair cut session, unless they are just super introverted as some people I know. Anyways, she has been doing this for 35 years, she loves what she does and she executes it very well.I am not one to spend a whole lot of time online making reviews, but when someone really deserves it in my eyes, then I have to. There were certain things that I noticed that were a little different than to what Im used to at other barber shops:1. There are no websites, no social media profiles, no real way to find about the services and hours, or any other way to communicate with the owner of the shop other than by doing it the old way, either walking in or calling the shops land line. Its surprising how theyve remained open all of these years thanks to the good ol word of mouth. Theyve paid $0 on advertisement, that speaks volumes.2. They only take cash or check. Its a miracle that I had a $20 bill in my pocket because otherwise it wouldve gotten really awkward real quick. So no paying with card, Venmo, Apple Pay, PayPal, etc. While this can be a no-go for many, as long as you keep some cash on you then youre good to go.3. Theyre haircut prices are WAY under what it is normally charged for elsewhere. But she just wants to take care of the community around her by providing quality haircuts at an affordable price.I simply wanted to contribute somehow by giving the shop at least a review talking about them and the really nice and comfortable shop Mrs. Debra has made. I will definitely will be stopping by to visit again.
I forgot my cash she told me to sit down and bring me back money
The best place on the west side to get your haircut!! My boys would not go any other place and always leave satisfied!!
Went in bot knowing what to expect. I believe it was Kelly who was cutting hair. Absolutely the sweetest lady ever and she did a fantastic job. First time there, but wont be the last. Dont hesitate to make an appointment there.
Its not in a great part of town but that is also why you are able to get a$10 haircut. They do a good regular haircut for half the price of others that cant! I dont know that I would go in there looking to get something fancy but for a good quick haircut its the place to go!
Great old fashioned haircut.
The best
Great place
Very friendly and only 12 dollars
Always a pleasure.
Appreciated the kindness!Having to shave your head from chemo is traumatic enough...but then redoing it, not a good day. But this kind lady made my day!
