After retirement from USMC in July this year, I was ready to grow my beard! only problem, Joined at 17, never had a beard, did not know where to begin. GIGI hooked me up and gave the best advice on how to maintain, help grow, and what to do. I showed up looking homeless, and left looking amazing.Since then, I have never went anywhere else, and wont! she is phenomenal and I highly recommend her for beards, hair, or any of you styling needs!

These folks were amazing! As a walk- in we expected a long wait, but it was a few brief moments. It was easily one of the best hair cut experiences for my son. My husband and our son had been looking for a really good barbershop and barber and I have to say they went to a few different places and they were not the best I will say. So one day he was looking on a app he has and he found the backroom and went to get a hair cut. So Nikki did his hair and I have to say she did a wonderful job. When he went back he took our son and he was again very happy and so was our son cause the person they went to before has messed his hair up. Now they dont want to go anywhere else and we moved since they started going here and they drive a little over a hr. So they can have Nikki cut their hair. Thank you for always being kind and caring about your customers.

Im now going to be going here for all my cuts and shaves. Awesome environment and people. I always hate shaving my beard but the straight razor cut here gets it done clean and with no irritation afterwards.

$20 for a military cut in a military town. Good for medium fades or high and tights, but this is the 2nd time ive been there due to proximity of convenience(errands) and with 2 different barbers.. the low fades are a bit of a challenge there.Tapers, medium and high fades: great if youre okay spending $20(not including tip).Low fades; you can probably get someone faster and more reliable for 10-12$ elsewhere.

Tulo did an amazing job on my sons hair. He took his time and pays close attention to detail. I can tell that he is very passionate about what he does. And it shows. And he is also great with kids. My son normally does not like getting his hair cut but my son told me himself that he wants Tulo to cut his hair all the time. Thank you again Tulo. You’re the Best! The shop itself has a great atmosphere as well. Super friendly. Clean. When customers walked in they were greeted and acknowledged as they walked in. Which I was impressed about because I’ve been to other places and was never even acknowledged even after sitting there for 30 minutes so I’ve left. Will definitely be bringing my son back!

Me and my bf both go to kay for our cuts. She does an amazing military cut on him. Probably the best I have seen on him in the 3 years we have been here. She also cut and highlighted my hair which isnt easy since I have red hair and for some reason it usually didnt cone out right in the past when I have colored my hair. Kay is absolutely amazing. Will definitely be back for her to do both of our hair again.

I’ve been here before and had a good experience. I called ahead of time and asked if it was busy and whether or not I needed to make an appointment. The desk said no so I chose to do a walk in. I waited 2 hours before deciding to walk out and find another place. I am by no means an impatient person but I also do not want to spend half my Sunday afternoon waiting to get seated. I rarely go out of my way to leave any reviews. I will not be returning

This place is great. They take time and do amazing work. We have taken out kids here since moving to the area. They get crazy busy on the weekends so take the time and make an appointment.

The waiting area is far better than any other barber shop Ive been to but they only have 2 good barbers.. A couple alright ones and then one that i would definitely not go to again. Just being honest. Overall however, its still in the top 5 or so places in Jacksonville.. in my opinion.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE (or LACK OF SERVICE)!!! I sat for two hours in the waiting area. It was my first time to try this shop. I arrived at 11am and only had 6 people in front of me when I got there. Then after I signed in and was waiting my turn, 5 additional walk-ins were seated and cut before me. I was called up and seated twice and both times I was told to do sit back down because someone else was in front of me. The last straw was when the sixth walk-in was seated ahead of me. This was ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! Huge waste of time and total disrespect for my time. I was excited to check this place out but HUGE REGRET!!!!! Will NEVER EVER be back!

The haircut itself was 10/10. Hands down one of the best Ive gotten in a very long time, the shop is great looking as well.My barber talked more to the other people getting their hair cut than he did to me, which is understandable as they were all military and Im a civilian, but it definitely made me feel out of place and unwelcome. If youre military or dont enjoy conversation, Id recommend this place for sure.

This is the best barbershop in the Jacksonville area. The barbers are personable, they give you exactly what you want and never rush a haircut. Ive been going to this barbershop for a year and a half and have had almost every barber in the shop cut my hair and have never had a problem.

Roger, one of the owners, just cut and colored my hair last week. My husband gets his hair cut regularly by Roger too. Everyone there is so friendly and you can tell that they really care about their clients. Roger is personable and professional and makes it a good time when you go in to get something done. I love my hair, the cut is probably one of the best Ive ever had and the color is perfect, exactly what I asked for. Hes so thorough. I would highly recommend!

I called to see if they did walk ins and I was able to get in within the hour showed up walked in and one of the owners came over to introduce himself and talked for a minute. I was in a chair within 5 minutes of arriving. Did a great job on my hair and beard really a first rate shop! So glad I called and gave it a try. Courtney did a great job she took her time and really did a quality job not like the other shop that clip different blades on and move on to the next head. I was astonished when the hair and beard shape was 20 dollars. Great price I will definitely be back. Thank you!

My 16yr old got his haircut here today. Usually my son has a mohawk, however he hadnt had a cut in quite a while. The sweetest man said he was happy to fix him up! The Backroom has an awesome enviorment. All the staff is friendly and you will never have to worry about sitting in awkward silence while you get a cut. All of the barbers take their time to make sure you are satisfied with your cut. They have a few old school arcade games in the waiting area to keep those kids busy while you are in chair. The average price you are looking at for a fade/line up is $15.

First time in the barber shop today, and I wont be going anywhere else now. Great people, good conversation, and most of all great cut and trim. James was my barber and I highly recommend him. Check these guys out you wont be disappointed.

The wait was a little long, but thats only because the quality of the haircut. My barber CJ made sure his hair was that of quality. He was super attentive and I could feel his passion for a good haircut. The haircut I received was excellent something I souldve paid like 30 bucks for but I was only charged 15 . I am elvery satisfied and will be back when I need a good haircut.

I personally like a barber who I know, but also loves what he does and takes pride in his work. To many barbers in town buzz right through the haircut and even though it might look good, there isnt any heart behind it. Backroom barbers have me a fantastic haircut and I felt super comfortable in the chair. Great place to go if you want a good haircut.

By far, one of the best fades (haircuts in general) that I have ever received. Im in and out of Jacksonville often, and barbers are a dime a dozen--but I will drive out of my way for a haircut at the Backroom Barbershop. Roger knows how to put the razors edge to your head and uses real deal shaving cream, warm towels, and blades. He takes his time and his methodologies are very old school, which adds to the experience. Super nice guys there and would recommend military and non-military folks check him out. You will NOT be disappointed.

Just got a cut for the first time at the Backroom barbershop. As far as friendliness goes thy nailed it. But not happy at all with the cut. Ask for a fade and it looked as if the guy cutting my hair started it and then just decided to not finish. I am by far not a professional but my face looks like i did it myself with a single blade razor. Very tacky job. Very disappointed. And then got charged 20 dollars for wht my 12 year old daughter could of gave me. Not saying the whole crew is like tht..but the Old Head in there, terrible job. P.S. IVE NEVER GIVEN ANYONE A BAD REVIEW TILL NOW! If u already have a barber stay there. Cant vouch for this Barbershop.

First time there, I waited for like 2 hours only to get a pretty bad haircut that took like 10 minutes, if that. The people there seem cool though and the waiting area is pretty nice. Other than that, $15 for a bad haircut really made me feel like I wasted a lot of time and a little too much money.

Ever since I came to North Carolina from Virginia I couldn’t find a barber shop that would cut my hair how I asked for my hair to be cut, until I went to the backroom barbershop. Very friendly environment, and the haircut James gave me was just amazing! I’m so glad I found the backroom barbershop, highly recommend it!

Decided to give this shop a try since all the reviews seemed positive. I dont know if the person that I had was fresh out of school or just having a bad day but I am definitely NOT happy with my results. All I wanted was a faded undercut and my head looks like my 6 year old did it. Not only was every other word out of their mouth sorry for either pulling my hair or hitting me in the head, but it seemed like this was the first time this person had done hair. They acted like they were in such a hurry (no one else was waiting) that by rushing they accidentally cut my side way shorter. So then they had to try to even it out. It didnt happen. Im sorry but if youre a barber in a military town then a simple fade on just an undercut should be cake walk. This is ridiculous and now I have to try to salvage what I can on my own. I have pictures as proof, so if you dont believe me then just ask to see them.

We are from out of town and looking to get hair cuts. We were super nervous about getting a fade out here. These guys cleaned us up real nice. They take their time with the fades and will cut and recut when unsatisfied until you are satisfied. The hard parts are clean and tight with the straight razor. All in all great place for a clean looking fade. #goodvibes
