I would NOT recommend any one to live here. My AC doesn’t work half the time and maintenance says they’ve fixed the issue when nobody has even shown up to look at the issue. I’m paying for amenities that I can’t even use due to my key not working & the office has no resolution for this issue besides a shrug and a half-a** sorry. Not to mention the fact that when I moved in the apartment was disgusting like they had not even tried to clean it. Overall staff doesn’t know what’s going on and has no resolution to any issues. Don’t put yourself through the pain of living here.
My bestfriend has lived here for 3 years, she spent the last two weeks deep cleaning the entire apartment, even relentlessly scrubbing the oven TWICE and they have the audacity to try to charge her $50 as a cleaning fee after moving out. They claimed they had to clean the oven and the toilet, which is a blatant lie and they had to nerve to say they were “forgiving” on their walk through as if she had actually left it dirty? This apartment complex is in it for the money and everything about that place screams penny pinching and they will find any excuse to get some out $ of you, even the walls are paper thin. So if you’re hoping for a comfortable relaxing experience don’t bother with this place.
I went on two tours of the connections and the staff that greeted and gave us the tour was all super friendly! I also called asking for help on my lease and they were great! Very excited to start living there.
Do not waste money I wish someone told me this, they are so nice but once you sign that contract everything else goes out the window, there’s too many issues to list, they never cleaned my apartment when I moved in during the pandemic I had to fully clean the apartment myself, the apartment they show you isn’t the one you really get! Maintenance just argues with you about all the issues and offers no help when they do decide to show up, there are so many other options then this one you will regret it!
I just visited my sons apartment for the 1st time since he lived there. I stayed the weekend with him. The community is so nice a quite. The apartment itself is nice and spacious. It has up to date appliances. I really like where he lives. Its near all the stores and restaurants and very close to they highway. Very convenient.
Bryan did a great job answering my daughter’s questions! So far getting her started with her lease as well as answering a variety question has made me love this place for her!Thank you Bryan!
If you want something delivered, prepare to wait a long time or have your order canceled because your delivery driver *will* get lost. Not only are there 3 separate sections to this complex with different gates on 2 separate sides of the street, but the appartment numbering is completely illogical. Apartment 101 is next door to 108, 102 next door to 107.
Basically tricked me into paying late fees. They send out emails saying you have until the 5th of the month to pay before late fees are applied but that is a lie. They are constantly changing management and the only good thing here are the amenities. They also will try to charge or fine you in any way possible and the fees are often very pricey. The only helpful/nice person I’ve interacted with in the office (that wasn’t a college age person) is Ms. Robyn. This is my second time living here and I would not recommend it. I only came back because they were having a special but have already increased their prices for next year. Not worth it.
I WONT be renewing a lease here! The tour was nice but once you experience living here stuff will go out on you and things will stop working such as: a/c unit, toilet, washer, dryer, WiFi, the key to unlock the amenities, and etc... they’ll do a temporary fix but it’s back broken again.
I’m a resident and my apt got broken into now there blaming me for breaking into my own apartment
Love it here! Clean, peaceful, and the staff is so kind. I have all my maintenance issues handled quick and everyone does it with a smile.
I dont recommend moving here. My apartment flooded 3 times and never replaced carpet so it smelled like mildew. They charge you a cleaning fee regardless you clean or not. They charge you for every little thing. It Takes them forever to come out and fix anything. The emergency number never works. Over terrible place to live in not happy and they stole over 700 bucks from me of fees. Dont move in I wish I never did
Lived here for two years. Wouldnt reccomend to anyone. Rent is super high considering what you actually get. quarterly maintenance checks are actually just whenever they feel like showing up to your apartment. Will find ANYTHING to charge you for, including emails with intentionally confusing verbiage about rent dates. New management is terrible, new resident portal doesnt even work half the time. Only reason it doesnt get one star is amenitiesEDIT: charged a 75 dollar fee for moving a dog crate from my brothers old room to the living room, which they never actually did because I was the one that moved it. Charged another 75 dollar fee for cleaning his bathroom after he moved out, which I also did myself and it was spotless. Are currently trying to charge me 150 dollars because they changed the move out date with new management from the 25th by the time the offic closes to the 24th at noon (info about having to have the key in by noon I got while I am out of the country. I come back the morning of the 24th.) My apartment flooded the second year I was here, still has the same water damaged carpet that isnt even stapled down anymore, as well as a huge hole where the carpet tore amidst moving things around. Changing rating to one star, no level of amenities is worth living here, leases are built around scamming college kids that dont know any better about renting an apartment, and management will hide behind said leases until you get an attorney involved to pick it apart. You are much better off living literally anywhere else in huntsville. It is beyond me how this complex has received best in huntsville three times. Side note: All the 4 and 5 star reviews on here are from their resident rewards site where one of the choices to earn rewards points is to leave a review. I would say less than 30 percent of those reviews are actually honest. If all the one star reviews continuously say the same thing, youd think that be a huge hint to actually do something about all these issues than just apologizing in the comments. And for the record I wouldnt consider living here again if my effing life depended on it, Kimberly.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LIVING HERE!!!
So in your lease they have you add on the apartments renters insurance that covers their stuff only. Two people told me multiple times that I can switch the insurance to my own once I move in. When I go to do that the new manager says they aren’t allowed to change it in the middle of the lease term. The old manager let people do it. So she let some of the older employees keep giving out incorrect information. Then she says if my insurance covers their stuff she can change it and when i send it to her she says it doesn’t. It’s on the 4th page and says it covers their stuff. she just doesn’t wanna do it and i know for a fact she didn’t read my insurance information. Also when i went to ask about changing the insurance the manager didn’t even come out to talk to me she kept sending another employee back and forth when her office was 10 feet away
Overall an okay place to live. Office employees are never on the same page, but are friendly. There is no communication. Maintenance is slow to fix things, and does not fix things the first time. We have to pay for amenities that we cannot use. Some fees are outrageously expensive. I would not want to live here if I didn’t have to. At least it is close to campus and work.
Its alright, the apartment come with a lot of stuff broken and not updated such as, when I first moved here my dresser draw is broken and my couch looks so old that its pealing. I called about it, They did nothing :( I wish when I moved here they would of gave me new things, now on my washer a knob is broken and shower water gets cold fast and lets not for get the gate to enter my apartments is always broke and the key hardly works!!!! I pay way too much to experience this in my first apartment in Huntsville. I know the management would cry OUTLOUD if any of this happened in their home.
You guys did a really great job with roommate pairing. My roomie is great and very friendly but most importantly very easy to live with. Thank you !
I love it here! My roommates are the absolute best. But the washer and dryer aren’t the best. I like having them in the apartment but they take forever when you have to do a large load and they’re big but not that big. I don’t know why it says you can dry a large load if it’s going to take all day. I also wish maintenance was faster. A couple of times my work order was completed after sitting in the queue for a while and it wasn’t even done.
I’ve really enjoyed living here so far! From the beginning the office staff have been a huge help, and I genuinely love my apartment. I needed to move in early, and then willingly made that happen. I see the staff at work, and they always make it a point to tell me high. The game nights, and free socials they hold are also fun to attend. Overall it’s a great place to live and I have not had any problems yet.
The Connections are the best apartment complex! It’s right in the middle of town, within walking distance of HEB, Shenanigans, and 7 Leguas! The apartments are spacious and perfect for a great group of friends! I’m so glad I renewed for next year! The staff and amenities are amazing! Always willing and ready to help! My neighbors are nice and the staff always has something fun prepared to grow the community!
My young sister lived here. This place has been an incredibly frustrating and disappointing place to live. They are ran by incompetent people with management that knows they can take advantage of young adults. Management makes up excuses not to talk to the residents, forcing you to talk with the incompetent receptionists who know nothing and make up answers to get you off of the phone. Her apartment flooded numerous times from the upstairs house. Im talking water flowing out the electrical sockets and pouring rain inside, level of flooding. I had to get an attorney involved for them to even listen to her when they requested to be moved into a new house, due to the numerous extreme levels of flooding that could potentially cause the ceiling to collapse on them. They continuously have lied to her across different issues that have arisen while living there. She has stood outside and watched the receptionist tell her the manager couldnt speak to her to give her answers because they were in a meeting. All while watching the manager stand next to that receptionist and lie; refusing to talk to her after they refuse to comply with prices and matters that they told her previously. We will all continue to tell others not to live here, because I believe its disgusting to take advantage of people. I dont know how you sleep at night knowing you lie; making it harder on people who you have control over.I have been in management levels most of my career, and whoever runs this place needs to make some serious changes. Maybe give your managers personality tests to see if theyre capable before investing money in them, giving them the power to damage your investment.
Im so happy my daughter decided to stay here for a third year. All the staff is very friendly and helpful. Anytime my daughter has gone to the office for help Brian has been very helpful.
Great prices for all types of units, easy lease process and very friendly and helpful staff. Nestled in a good neighborhood, only minutes away from HEB and a major highway. Ive lived here for two years and all aces so far...
The staff is great and always ready to help. Maintenance are also very great and are very helpful.
This apartment is really bad. They were trying to take money everything. Even when I moved in, there were still damages. I don’t believe if they were really fixed. Also, there were discrimination as well. It was terrible experience while I was staying. I highly recommended not to sign up in lease for this apartment. Don’t waste money at this place.
I love living at The Connections! They have friendly staff and the location is wonderful. Just today I received help from a man named Brian. Brian took the time out of his day to help me when I was in an emotional state. He remained calm and gave me useful solutions to my problems.Thank you, Brian!
I have loved living at the connections! The ladies that work in the clubhouse are just so nice and helpful. There is so much room to walk my dog outside as well!
I currently live here, I’d say the best perk about living here is just the location. HEB is a very short walk away and parking is never an issue. Anytime I have any problems the staff is very helpful. Especially Kenny, he helps me with anything I need and always makes me feel welcome.
Went by The Connection and had the best experience. Skylar was so helpful and nice. She was able to answer all my questions and take care of all my needs. Great customer service.
Visited the front office a couple days ago about leasing information and Kenny was very helpful and friendly! He answered all my questions and made me feel very welcomed! Will definitely be visiting again!
Greatest apartment in town! I love how everytime I go into the office I always feel so welcomed and the staff will have conversations with me, plus they love my dog Ginger. There are always events going on and the amenities are always clean. Ive lived here for 2 years already and am excited about renewing my lease.
Hi my name is Aubree Howard! These apartments are great! Walking distance within grocery store and town y’all spots, and great hang out spots at the community with chill study rooms, also a great community and great scenery
I had a wonderful experience at The Connection. Skylar was very helpful and knowledgeable. I really appreciated her attention to detail and would recommend these apartments to anyone.
I really love staying at the Connections!! The staff is nice and welcoming. For instance, a worker named Brian is always there to help. Also Roben and Kathryn have helped me a number of times. I am happy I stay here!!
LOVE living here!!! There are so many amenities, the staff is very helpful and friendly. Last week, I had a problem with my keys and internet connection. Within the same 30 minutes, a staff member Kenny resolved both problems and was super friendly!
I love it here it’s a great place to live, and always great deals. To make your stay better robin and Brian will take great care of you
When I first moveto the connection They had put me in a racist apartment and I had to deal with those people whole semester. All they had to check the apartment records before they place me into that apartment and see my roommates had forced another international student to move somewhere else in past. It has been almost two years but I still try to restore the damage I had taken there.Do not waste your money at the connection there are way cheaper and nicer places such as The Republic apartments I am living right now.
Did not like this apartment when we toured for our daughter compared to other apartments in town. very far from campus, and the staff could have been friendlier. they do offer a shuttle but can imagine that is a mess
I love living at the connections. I live in a three bedroom and it’s super roomy. This living space is huge. I also love the pools and all the events the connections do. My only complaint is the shuttle in the morning but I always end up at school on time so it’s not too bad.
I like the place because is clean and nice....theres things to do without leaving the place. I like that they take care of the apartments. When theres a problem they fix it. Love it!
Still no accountability under the new management and all the 1 star reviews are deserved. Dont waste your money living at a place that doesnt take its customers seriously and wont work to make your stay there less of a headache while attending college and having a job.
Great place to live with great staff. Skylar is the best. She is always very welcoming, friendly, and helpful.
I just moved into The Connection in December 2015 and I love my one bedroom apartment. It came fully furnished with brand new leather furniture and new appliances. Everyone in the leasing office is super nice and friendly. The apartment maintenance staff is great also. The apartment is pretty safe and clean. Overall, I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone who is looking for a comfortable, clean, and safe place to stay.Ms. Tina
The connections is such a great place to live, anytime I have a problem they are supper fast to respond, especially Kenny, he seems to always be at the front desk when I go up, and is supper fast when ever I have problems or questions and is always super friendly, as well as the rest of the staff I have encountered. It is also nicely located most places you would need to go to are within 10 min drives.
Not only do you not get what you pay for, but the AC goes out at LEAST once a week and the water heater is never working. Once maintenance does finally come after days following a request, they are always rude and barely can fix the issue at hand. I have lived year almost a year and have regretted ever signing to this complex. The only good thing about it is that it is right next to HEB. Thats where the one star comes from.
Be very careful when thinking about moving to this complex. After 2 years of living in the apartment and moving out at lease end, the complex sent a damage statement. While we agreed to some issues, others were out of our control. Charging to replace the carpet in the bedroom that was very used when moved in. We also requested no pets, but after the first year they put a tenant in the apartment with an Alaskan Malamute. We were charged with replacing the furniture... We tried to appeal per the letter received with multiple emails (which was the only way to dispute), but unfortunately, we received no responses. That is of course until the collection agency started calling. Good Luck! UPDATE, to respond to the complexes response regarding we adhere to fair housing and any situation that comes with service/emotional support animals, very creative. The animal in question was not a service animal.
Horrible move-in experience! Management is good, they take care of the problems after while! Just might have to do a lot of complaining first!
Parents- Please make sure you do your due diligence on this complex before leasing here for your children. Our son experienced two home invasion robberies (at gunpoint) at this property last year. The security system/gate was inoperable. When we approached the staff after the 1st event, we were given the run around and told that the complex was changing ownership. No accountability was taken by either owner, however we were promised for the security gate issue would be corrected. 4 months later, the apartment was again burglarized; this time with a ladder which was left by maintenance on the side of the building. Again, cameras were not working and gate still not fixed. When we discussed with the police, we were told that this was one of several in the complex. However, there was no notification or communication from the complex. Had we been aware of these, we may have made a different decision on his living arrangements.PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK....... Concerned parent.
In the beginning of the semester my roommate and I had a problem with our power going out. I called the after hour hotline and they were understanding and made my problem their first prioritize. Not only did they put us in a hotel but, also gave us a gift card to be able to buy food for the week. The connection treated us so nicely and kept us updated until they got our power fixed. I couldn’t ask for a better apartment complex, I love this place!
Update: 3 years later and still not a complaint for this complex. I’ve seen so many CAs come and go and been around to watch managers promoted. Congrats to them all!! Roben, Freddy, Bryan, and Katherine (and whoever I’m missing that’s still there) I can’t thank y’all enough for such a wonderful experience in student housing.Unequivocally the best apartment complex in Huntsville. From the quality of life, the staff, and the environment The Connection has mastered making student living as wonderful as possible. The front staff are friendly and ready to assist when you walk in to the office, the managers are very involved with the residents and go out of their way to make people more comfortable, and the maintenance staff is friendly and gets to work orders quickly. I have previously worked in student housing in Huntsville and have interacted with many different apartment complexes around the area as a result. I can easily say that The Connection is one of the top student housing complexes in the area in terms of getting a beautiful apartment and wonderful amenities for a price that wont break a college students budget and being surrounded by a staff that wants to make your experience the best!!
Im moving in to a shared space here this complex is fine. The amenities is more than enough the students like others experience different things its clean and pools / spa; fitness is nice!!!Critters lol 😘
I was charged a high electricity bill for the month of August which is move in month right. I didn’t move in til the 16th (of that night) and the only people in there was maintenance team. I look at the electricity statement & it was the highest it’s been since I’ve moved in (been here for a year now) now how does one person who wasn’t there for two and a half weeks used so much electricity? They do special cap offers for other residents but not for all. Also the shuttles are ridiculous! Some days I wait 30 minutes for the shuttles. How do we have two shuttles and I’m waiting 30 minutes?
The Connection is the worst apartment complex in Huntsville. Every experience I had while living here was awful. I had packages delivered on two different occasions and when I went to come pick them were no where to be found. I gave the persons name who signed for the packages and was told that person no longer worked there and was brushed off. Only after yelling at the employee and their supervisor did the packages somehow resurface in a room where we never put packages. Also, they had two rental agreements, which they could never figure out which one you had, that had two different rent late days. My first time paying my rent, I called to make sure that I had a five day grace period, because I had sent a check through my banks bill payment. After being told that I did in fact have five days, I didnt think about it again, because it would be there within the time. Then, come the third day I get a notice that my rent is late and I now have a late fee. Apparently I was told the grace period for the other rental agreement and they refused to listen to this. The staff, including supervisors and the property manager, are completely useless and try to make your life more complicated. They will try to steal any money they can from you.
Move in was super easy and fun (the luau theme was really cute); the stations really helped everything move along quickly and efficiently. I almost thought that there was going to be a problem with the mail, but it wasnt the staff teams fault at all; they were actually really helpful and kind when I was super worried about it. So far Im really loving living here!
I lived at the Connection from 2012-2016 so my rent rate changed a lot while I was there. My only complaint is the lack of communication with the tenants and management. At one point during my stay, I was paying $10 less for rent( after so many yrs, I really did forget what the rent really was) and I was not notified until I accumulated $150 in late fees. I went to the office and asked why it took 3 months to know I was being charged for late fees. They claimed to have sent me emails, to an email that was actually non existent. I went ahead and sent an email to the email I supposedly had provided and got a mailer error message, meaning they should have been receiving one too, Which at that point, they should have tried a different way to contact me. I have a phone, they can call and I live across the street, they can leave me a note on my door. To avoid conflict, I just paid the late fees and moved on. I moved out in July and I am being charged for new blinds (which I did not hesitate to pay for, because I know they were damaged) and a new carpet. The carpet was cleaned before I left. The carpet was not damaged and the person who took my room, took the room as is, which means, maintenance did not have much time to go in the apartment, change the carpet before the new tenant moved in. (I moved out by Friday, she was in there by like Tuesday) I emailed the Resident Services Manager about the situation. She did not have any proof that the carpet had even been changed. Keep in mind, this apartment already had people living in it and no one recalls a carpet change or a notification that maintenance would be coming in. Again, I went ahead and just paid the $250 for the carpet damage to avoid being sent to collections. It is now February and I find out I WAS SENT TO COLLECTIONS. I called the Connection and talked to the receptionist, she looked at my account and it states I have a $0 balance. I do not understand why collections is trying to make me pay for what I already paid. My advice to people moving out. TAKE PHOTOS OF EVERYTHING WHEN YOU MOVE OUT AND DOCUMENT EVERYTHING, money order receipts, checks, bank statements, emails, everything because they will screw you over.
I can’t wait to move out of here, staff can be rude not all of them but a select few. My apartment was leaking and all they did was paint over it. They plugged in about 13 dehumidifiers after the 3rd leak which was the worst and expected my roommates and I to stay there, not to mention it being around spring and 80 degrees outside and 93 inside, Nothing was done at first until our parents stepped in. Over priced for no reason, gates are always broken. You can find a cheaper place in Huntsville that’s way better than the connections.
To start off, I emailed management multiple times about moving in early due to working in town, and never received an email back, which was very irritating. Maintenance is terrible at getting work orders done, I still have issues in my unit that management/maintenance have known about since move in day but have yet to fix. Also, the shuttles seem to always be in a hurry. I’ve missed the shuttle multiple times because they stay on campus for less than a minute. Take into consideration that students just got out of class and we have a ways to walk. I’ve been late to work for this same reason, so if the shuttles can take time to wait for students (especially when classes just got out) that would be great. Other than that, it’s a good place. However, there is a lot of room for improvement.
I have been living at the Connections for 3 years and in that time I have seen the best and the worst of these apartments, but in my opinion they are they best apartments in Huntsville.....affordable prices, spacious, great amenities, and newly renovated apartments. The staff is very helpful and friendly, I can honestly say I have never had a problem with the staff in the 3 years that I have lived here. No apartment complex is prefect, but if you want the best student living in Huntsville, the Connections is the place.
Love living here! Good location, great staff! Only problem is maintenance is not the fastest, but honestly what maintenance is. Shuttle is pretty steady and does not break very often. Furnished apartments are nice!
The new team are great people. I love my apartment and we are able to paint our walls so I made it look really cute. A great place to be.
NEW EDIT: I paid $250 for damages I didnt cause to their already dirty carpet when I left in August. And still now in 2017 when I am no longer a tenant, they are attempting to smear my credit by saying I didnt pay. Do not live here. They weasel and cheat money out of you.My living space was decent but I think thats the nicest thing I have to say. I moved in and had no working microwave for 3+ months even though I repeatedly brought up the issue to staff. After months of asking for a microwave, they gave me one, but it was not an installed one above the stove as it should have been, and it broke too a few days later after only one use for soup. I brought the second broken microwave to the office myself and left it there with the manager so someone would finally take me seriously. It was December or January until I got a properly installed and working microwave; I had been leasing since August.I once experienced in my apartment a sudden and very strong chemical smell, enough to trigger the smoke alarms. Staff made no attempt to find a solution, and waved me off.Maintenance workers are adult men and frequently let themselves into your apartment without much warning. This is inappropriate for women. Many times they have walked into my apartment while I was in a state of undress or in the shower. When preparing to leave the apartments this year, I had asked what my current balance and future expected payments for June and July would be, so I could pay the cost in advanced since I would not be in town for the summer to pay rent (the online payment service doesnt work, by the way). I had *twice* been given the wrong amount I owed, and was unfairly procured of late fees. I shouldnt have had to pay costly fees because I was lied to the first time about what I owed.Lastly, the shuttle service was highly unreliable and often broken for the two semesters I spent here. The first few months last fall were spent overstuffing people (illegal) into a small shuttle. As someone who is disabled and cannot drive and depends on such a service to be available as it was promised and also safe, this is unacceptable.
Watch out before you sign the lease!!! The Connection hides things in their lease and will charge you for things that are suppose to be the Landlords obligations of normal wear and tear. Your carpet can be spotless but they sneak in a carpet cleaning fee into their lease after move out. NOT RIGHT!, Especially to do to college students.
Wow!! Out of a whole complex, The Connections only offer 20 people to extend a lease for 6 months.I have tried to take to management numerous times but the manager is never on the property. I have grandchildren that live there and now they have to move because of it.
I lived here for 2 years. While the first year was full of an okay experience besides loud upstairs neighbors that the office couldn’t do anything about besides tell us to call the police. My last year there was full of many problems. When I moved in they allowed me to move in early since I was renewing my lease. When the time came closer they stated they never said that and weren’t going to allow it. Eventually they did let me move in. When I moved in they never did any maintenance in the bedroom I was moving into. There were still holes from nails and missing and mismatched paint. We called and they stated they would be coming by to fix it and they never did. My sink flooded underneath my cabinet and after 2 workorders they replaced the sink but not the rusted pipes that were leaking. After moving out and now renewing a lease they will try and get as much money out of you from damages that were already there (stained bathtub). However on the move in sheet is says bathtub rod which I assumed was the rod and I put good. It will mean both the bathtub and the rod. They advise you to take pictures on your move out date but will not accept them when the time comes to dispute a damage. I would recommend not living here. Hope this helps any possible future resident!
Very nice apartments, bedrooms are spacious and bathrooms are nice, computer lab/printing room is so useful! Neighbors are police with noise levels, there’s a security button to press Incase of emergencies, very well maintained.
Problematic staff, that barely knows how to do their actual job. The convinces of a shuttle service is nice but its VERY poorly executed. Gates are broken 24/7, pool is almost never clean, their system randomly charges people fees for absolutely nothing. The property and accounts manger on site is nice and accommodating, which is literally the only thing not bad about this place... but its still sucky
If you feel like wasting money or want to have terrible communication with anyone that works at an apartment complex or maybe you just never want to get a package they forget to put in the system for 2 weeks, then sign up now! Better hurry or else they might charge you for waiting, just like everything else.EDIT: After finally moving out I can say 100% that this place has never tried helping me in any situation and will do whatever it takes to get your money
Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Its one of the furthest units from campus, breezeways are dirty, its noisy, management is rude. There are hidden late fees that accrue by $5 everyday after the payment period on top of the $75. YOU STILL END UP PAYING LATE FEES NO MATTER WHAT. You only get one pass on being late and it only terminates the $75 charge. I was only late once in 12 months. I already have a BBB complaint against their shady practices. Do yourself a favor and live somewhere else.
DONT MOVE HERE.The management is terrible. Everytime you call and want to speak to a manager, the manager tells the front desk assistants to tell the caller theyre busy when they really arent. They do not care about their residents. The maintenance guys arent good. The shuttle drivers are really slow. Dont move here. The manager of the Connections will comment saying some nice stuff like shes sorry and what not and that she has addressed these concerns. Dont listen. Shes the worst of all the staff.
It’s ok. Moving in: the apartment was disgusting not cleaned at all. Moving in I had to spent 5+ hours cleaning and it barely made a difference because of the caked on grime in the kitchen floor as well as the base boards. The whole apartment stunk from water damage under the sink. The washer didn’t work. Cracks throughout all the walls. The carpet is OLD and gross. The carpet in my room had some THICK dust and dirt around the edges of my room. On the bright side the bathroom and closet are spacious. These apartments seriously need some TLC. Including a deep clean inbetween residents. I was also a little disappointed with the roommate matching.. I really don’t have that much in common with my roommates. The shuttles are great! The gym is great. I’ve only lived here a month and I’m looking at other places. This apartment complex had the chance to make a good first impression and ruined it. Also speaking of only living here a month (my lease is up end of July since I came in spring semester) and rates go up tomorrow if you don’t renew today..so that really sucks. Renewing doesn’t seem like a reasonable outcome considering my first impression and experience only living here a month. I’ll make an updated review after a few months of living here.********************EDIT!!!***************************Here’s my updated review! I’ve lived here 7 months now.The Connections first impression wasn’t great as you can tell from above. But management came in apologized, and definitely made up for it. All issues were fixed and the management continued to be great. A huge shout out to Angela and Lindsey! When I come into the office it feels like home. Staff makes an effort to get to know the residents and check in with them when they come to the office. I’ve re-signed my lease and am moving to a different unit on the first floor Angela worked with me where I didn’t have to move away before moving into my new unit which was a big plus for me. The ONLY issues/hopes that I have now are changing the carpet (it’s just been there too long)in our rooms to hard wood floors and adding another shuttle to the route (there’s so many people from our complex that ride to and from campus two shuttles just aren’t enough). Other than these two things it’s been a great place to live minus the first month.
RUN dont walk from these apartments! Heed my warning future students! I have a credit of over 5,000 dollars just posted to my credit history from 2012. Its now 2016 and they are trying to charge me with rent for a whole year when I and my mother both came down from Dallas and spoke with mamager David Bowman and explained that my roommate was intolerable and absolutely could not continue to stay in the apartment with her. My other two roommates already gotten their approval to move out an so my mother (lease guarantor) signed a written statement and agreement to pay the remaining balance for the month and we were free to go. WRONG! The balanced was paid by me but yet FOUR years later this ends up on my credit November 3rd 2016 what the heck!
The place itself is great to live but communication with staff is the worst. Ive been charged more then what my rent really was, and when it came time to change apartments they put down the wrong building and room. Not only that but theyre now making pay a transfer fee when it was their fault I had to transfer anyway. They put me in a three bedroom when I was originally a four. Honestly, WORST staff ever.
I see why the reviews are so low. The staff is extremely lazy. The girl at the front desk would not come to the door until I called. understand social distancing but its ridiculous.
Before you sign up the office staff is gonna be super nice but as soon as you sign, they refuse to work with you and are rude as hell. Stay away if you can avoid it 🙅🏻♀️.
Im gonna keep this short. THE CONNECTION IS THE WORST APARTMENT IN HUNTSVILLE. They have 2 shuttles and Im still waiting 30-40 minutes for one to show while other apartment complexes shuttle have come and gone like 3-4 times. I was promised a TV and its been a flipping month and no flipping TV. THE CONNECTION IS A JOKE AND I LOVE HOW THEY HAVE THEIR OWN WORKERS FILL OUT REVIEWS AND GIVE 5/5 REVIEWS. If you ask the people who actually live and pay they will tell you the same. WHAT A JOKE OF A PLACE AND I THOUGHT ENCORE WAS BAD.
Although the apartments were nice, the staff and management were terrible. During the winter months, I had an extra $100 charge to my account. Whenever I contacted management to discuss why there was a charge, a number of things then happened. First, I was told to wait while 3 other people, who came in after me, were seen by the manager simply because they knew her. Then, only by speaking through one of the front workers, I was told that they lost all of my information and wouldnt be able to tell me what the charge was for. I then asked, again, to speak with the manager. The woman went in to discuss it with the manager, came back and said that there actually wasnt an extra charge on the account. There was. I wasnt ever allowed to speak with the manager. The apartment building does have new management, but a very similar situation arose, again, during the August month of 2015. There are a few staff members who are very helpful, but most seem to be incompetent and never have the correct information. I even called 3 times one day only to get different information/instructions from each. The managers are never there; usually you have to come during school hours of 10 and 2, and good luck because theyre usually at lunch or out of the office. They will charge you insanely, so beware. That being said, the location of the apartments are nice because they are right off of the highway and near all of the shopping centers; the apartments are about an 8 minute drive from campus (2 miles or so). The only thing that made these apartments bad were the staff and management. I wouldnt mind paying for things that were my fault, but the fact that I wasnt ever able to talk with anyone about my situations (there were multiple times these things happened, not only for me but for most people I knew at the apartment). Your initial contact with the staff will not be the same for the end of the year. Such a shame because these apartments are quite nice. The gates were also never working for the two years I was there, but you will still be charged, regardless of what works or not. Also, the parking is HORRIBLE!!! You can pay to park FURTHER AWAY, but people will still park in your spot. You could have them towed, but by that time youre already in bed. Good news, few cops. Otherwise, beware.
The employees are super friendly and helpful. And the apartment complex itself is clean, great place to live at!
Overall the complex itself is decent (rooms, sizing, amenities, etc) and the new system implemented for electricity has made it much less stressful living here- i was screwed over several times from roommates not paying electricity and the management was no help with this situation as it was through entergy and they cant do anything so the new system makes it fair and i dont have to worry about that now.
I moved out in December, 2018 for SO MANY reasons and Im STILL literally paying the price for living here.First off, my first units Air Conditioning unit caught on FIRE and I was NOT offered reimbursement or even another unit to stay in while that one got fixed. Second, the electronic locks broke ALL. THE. TIME. There were several days where we would be entirely locked out of our apartments with no way to get in and MANY more times it would have to be left unlocked and vulnerable because we literally couldnt lock or unlock the door. One of my friends at another unit SLEPT IN HER CAR ONE NIGHT BECAUSE OF THIS. Third, it took SEVERAL months for my unit to get a new dryer when ours was broken when we were told it would take only a couple of weeks. Fourth, at the time electricity was in one sole persons name and it was their responsibility to collect money from the other tenants, several of the roommates I had refused to pay the electricity and the Connections prides itself on conflict resolution- thats B. S. and I got completely screwed over and the Connections apartments do NOT care about you at all like they say they do. Fifth, if you have a noise complaint, you need to go ahead and call the cops and let them handle it because this complex wont do a single thing about it even with it being in the lease. Sixth, not a HUGE deal breaker, but in my 2 years of living there the gates barely ever worked, which defeats the purpose of a “safe gated community”. Seventh, the AC units broke all the time and we were constantly having parts replaced- keep a cooling fan in your room as a back up at all times. Finally, the whole reason Im posting this review now instead of 8 months ago- I moved out December 31st, 2018 (the electricity was not in my name through Entergy, it was transferred over to the apartment complexs name and they split the bills themselves to send to us individually beginning in July/August, 2018- we had NO way to control our billing and we werent provided any information regarding accounts) and Entergy is charging me now for December 28th, 2018-January 3rd, 2019 because The Connections DIDNT CONTACT ENTERGY IN TIME TO CUT OFF THE SERVICE (which was their responsibility and not ours as tenants) AND ENTERGY WONT REMOVE THE TRANSFER CHARGE FOR THE DAYS I LITERALLY DIDNT LIVE THERE. It says in my lease Im only required to pay electricity until the day my lease ended but here they are, charging me for DAYS past my lease expiration. The only positive experiences I had with The Connections was the maintenance was always on point with my unit, even with all of its problems, and they were always very nice and a very nice and helpful lady named Lindsey Spurlock did her best to help me and my roommates and was able to help change and shorten our leasing agreements due to our borderline nightmare-ish experiences :(
I pay $535 for a 4 bedroom and It does not have air in my room . The air works in the living room but when you come in my room nothing. I am suffocating and the ceiling fan doesn’t even help it just circulates the hot air. I have one box fan but I’m going to have to buy at least two more this is ridiculous! I put in a maintenance request and they didn’t even fix it. I also put in a maintenance requests for my ceiling fan to have a light changed, they entered my room and didn’t even change it . I also put in a maintenance request to have my bed tighten and they didn’t fix that either, I’m trying to figure out what did they do when they entered my room. I hate living here, and it is a complete waste of money. I am so mad I have a full year lease, I don’t know how I am going to survive living in this hell hole.
The only thing good about the apartment complex is the maintenance team . I been there since 2015-2018 the new Management isnt worth it and they will try to get over you so please keep your receipts. If not they will try to take advantage of you . The shuttles and gates are always broken down . Yes I understand there are alot of residents at the apartment complex . So will say they try to help but they dont care and the manager will sometimes avoid an issues . But overall I am glad i left this place . Yes i know no one is perfect but i dont recommend no one to stay here .
Make sure you read your leasing agreement carefully. I was promised a special of $100 for the last month’s rent as well as a $100 gift card. I received the gift card, but I was told if I signed within 72 hours of my roommate who was offered the same special I would get the last month’s rent for $100 as well. What The Connection failed to tell me was that the special operated on a first come, first serve basis referred to as “slots”. This concept of slots was not thoroughly explained until the last day of my lease, and according to the leasing manager, when I asked about it there were only 10 slots for this special. Unbeknownst to me, I just so happened to be the 11th person to sign my lease since the special started. This meant I would not receive that special, and instead of honoring this promise, they forced me to pay the full final month’s rent. Not to mention this was nearing the end of a 12 month lease which I had gone through numerous issues with German roaches in our apartment kitchen. This issue was never properly resolved.
There is good and bad just like anything, the amenities are nice and the staff is nice as well.
I love living here! I honestly feel like this is the best student apartment here in Huntsville. They offer affordable prices and they offer alot!
Great place to be. Maintenance is slow, but the shuttle is great! There is a nice pool and the apartment is pretty big, considering the price.
I really like living at the Connection at Huntsville because the maintenance is prompt, and there arent unnecessary apartment visits by management. Also the pool parties are great. The only downfall is during the summer the pool can get kind of disgusting and the hot tub isnt always operable.
Love the apartments and can’t wait to move in and I love that it’s so close to campus
Horrible apartment complex! When I moved in my room smelt like urine. There were dark spots all throughout my room from the previous persons dog peeing on the floor and the wall was chewed in the bathroom. My bathroom and my closet door would never shut properly even after they came to fix it. Do NOT get a covered parking spot. I got one and if I left my paid reserved spot after 8pm someone would be parked in it. I talked to the apartment staff and they said all I could do is call a tow truck. I called and they always said they were really busy so it would be awhile, but they never came. So I was stuck parking on the other side of the complex to just park for the night. The parking is horrible here and the staff here are not well trained what so ever. Unless you are a big partier dont bother going to the pool because you cant actually swim in it since its filled with people every day its possible to be in the water. If you want anything fixed in your apartment then youll have to go down to the office every other day until they come to fix it because unless its a major emergency like a pipe leaking it will take a week or more for them to come fix. Our dryer never got hot and we reported it multiple times and they did nothing about it and yet they tried to make us pay for it when we moved out. They will try and screw you out of as much money as they can. Pretty much once you sign a lease here you are screwed! Do whatever you can to NOT live here! The amount you pay to live here isnt worth it.
Over priced for the quality of apartments. Front office doesnt not reflect the quality of the apartments in the slightest. For the money there are newer better options in Huntsville.
I have lived in the Connections for a year and i recently moved to another apartment in the same complex, moving from a 4 bedroom apartment to a 3 bedroom apartment. My new roommates really liked the idea of moving to Midtown and tried to persuade me to do so. I convinced my friends to move to the Connections with me, telling them how great of an apartment they were, for i had little to no problems with them my first year. Now, i had to move out of my apartment on July 31st, and the new apartment would not be able to be moved into until the 18th. This is done, so that you will move into a freshly painted, newly carpeted, and cleaned apartment. When my roommates and i moved in, we were greeted with baby roaches. This, I overlooked because it was vacant and they could be passing through. We planned to go ahead and gasbomb the apartment for bugs. In the corners of the ceiling and around the bottoms of the floors were webs that bugs such as spiders and dead roaches were stuck in. I was disgusted but hoped for the best with everything else. Then, my father pointed out that my carpet had major wrinkles in it, and then noticed that it was completely up in the door ways. Nails missing from the wood piece that holds down the carpet as well. You can see the floor underneath the carpet. I talked to my old roommates, and they said in my previous apartment, the rooms that i moved out of and another one of my old roommates had left, were recarpeted, repainted, and looked like new. I was so disappointed that i moved from that to this. Then, our couch cushions were torn up as if someone had a dog or cat. Not just scratches but deep scratched where it’s very obvious and almost peeling away showing the inside of the cushions. Now, you’d think as they review the rooms for a new resident, they’d take account for that during the time we were waiting to be aloud to move in. The dryer knob to press start was broken, a cabinet shelf was broken, the STOVE/OVEN was broken. How does someone overlook that? I know for a fact that this apartment was just neglected and not fixed up at all from speaking to others in this building. The maintenance men, came in and “fixed” our stove. They left and we tried it. Still didn’t work. This was so frustrating and we called them right back and they said, “ you broke it?” No, they never fixed it and had to come right back. I am very embarrassed to have pushed my fellow (new) roommates into moving here instead of Midtown, because we have had nothing but letdowns and still today, we are waiting on a couch, our stove was just fixed yesterday, the carpet is messed up, and when we went to the office the second time to discuss these problems, the manager walked right past us instead of addressing our problems. We have put in many maintenance requests and I am no longer in love with my apartment as i was.As i am writing this, our dryer knob fell off again. Because the maintenance men merely set the knob back on. No. Please. Do not move here.
Staff is always helpful, slightly more pricey than most communities by Sam but totally worth it for the conditions of the living space! I never have to worry about paying a water bill, cable bill or wifi because its all included in my rent which is great! The community events are always fun (free food most times)and the office hands out free Scranton and bluebooks at midterms and finals! I have enjoined living here and would say if your looking for a place to stay in Huntsville, this is THE place to be.
Dirty, noisy, gross. But cheap, so I guess thats to be expected.
Moving to The Connection in Huntsville was an absolute mistake. The manager is a scammer. They sent me an email stating that if I can get a friend to sign a lease with them I will receive a gift card for $300. The staff has been giving me the run around for 7 weeks straight. Everytime I call or stop by asking about it, they say that its on the way. Ive never worked for a post office but I know for a fact that it should not take almost 3 months for a gift card to come in the mail from Amazon. Its not that I dont have the money because I pay my rent on time EVERY month. Its the fact that I am being lied to. I did my part so now I need the connection to do theirs. This place is an absolute joke.
Nice apartments. TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT. Thank you for trying to charge me $345 for a leak that wasnt my fault. Just because there is new management doesnt mean you can try to charge the current renter for everything in the past. Live here if you want to be screwed over and taken advantage of.
I know Im going to LOVE living at The Connection! The staff is great, the facility is fit specifically for students, and the apartments offer great privacy!
Probably the WORST apartments Ive come across ! I only moved here because of the 1 bedroom but for the price ($999 during 2017-18) it wasnt worth it. MAINTENANCE were the only people that knew what they were doing, very polite, and timely. As far as MANAGEMENT/ EMPLOYEES? Lol. Nobody knew anything, I could talk to 3 different people and they each told me 30 different things. In the near future please hire people that have apartment management and/or working experience and not college students that dont really care for a job. Also, the idea of finding someone to sublease your apartment when you want to move out early is NOT stated in the lease so that should not be mandatory. You should be able to end your lease early just by paying a reletting fee and move out early, finding a subleaser is ridiculous! I want to put so much more on this review but the time spent is over but I was not pleased here at all.
This is a very nice complex, and its well located, but the buses could carry more people at a time, and run more frequently, especially in the afternoon
Staff doesnt know their own policies.
These apartments are beautiful, to bad theres never any parking, the gated communities you pay for are false cause theyre always open. Everyone else can enjoy the pool while tenants watch people who dont pay rent splash around and have a great time. The management is absolutely terrible, there were problems before I even got in the door, and if you pay your own rent youre automatically less important than people with guarantors. I was ask to leave because a new tenant moved in and bad mouthed me to the office even though I had paid rent there diligently after two years. And even though I had come to an agreement with the office about leaving terms I find out that theyve sent a debt of 600$ to a collection agency, and I was never told about till I got the collection call. Even after the manager accepted a personal check to break lease... think about signing or resigning cause they find different ways to screw different people!
