Everyone there is very nice. I have been going to JFS since 2019. Laura Alter is my work skills friend/teacher!
If you are not from an influential Jewish background and or very wealthy please Do Not Waste your time! I have a strong feeling Adele needs a new career path as she looks down on us regular folks. Dealing with Adele is like dealing with a Lifetime Movie and we know how those end. STAY AWAY!!
Ive been here numerous times for grief counseling a few years ago with Ivy Ickes and have gotten financial help before too. I needed help with rent, bills, gas, and food, and Becky George really helped me in my time of need. Thank you so much for the HEB gift cards and the check. This is going to help a lot.
If you need help with mental health financial etc this is the best place to help. Simply amazing staff
I was really dissapointed with their child therapy services. We were on the waiting list for months, then at some point we were taken off the waiting list for an unknown reason, and then when I spoke with the head of the department we were placed back on the list. We eventually were assigned a therapist, but she doesnt take insurance. I stated I wanted to use my insurance, and she said she would let them know but would still like to meet. OK, cool, so I pay out of pocket. Met her, just didnt feel like it was a good fit, which I thought was fine because, again, INSURANCE. Let her know that I would prefer to be with someone who take insurance, she seemed shocked by this, told me because I requested someone who takes insurance we would be added back to the list, but put at the bottom! So pretty much because we wanted to use insurance we were rejected.... I ended up speaking with the dead of the department about how this doesnt seem professional, and he just kept wanting to know why I didnt like their therapist.... It didnt matter how many times I mentioned we wanted to go through insurance, it was like he was choosing to ignore that I wanted to reduce out of pocket expenses. He stated the same thing, since I turned down the therapist offered to me, we had to start over again from the bottom of the wait list... At this point, even though I have heard amazing reviews of the therapists there who take insurance. I will go somewhere else. Dont bother requesting someone who takes insurance, they wont listen, and will punish you.
Tim Owens and the ladies at the front desk always wear a smile. I love them! This organization has assisted me more than any other in the city. They have much Love and keeps on giving and giving and giving. Unlike most Churches in the city you dont have to be a member (Jew) to receive assistance. I look forward to starting their employment assistance class. I believe theyll be successful in assisting me and others with our getting a job.
A Major assist to the ENTIRE HOUSTON COMMUNITY in the time of Great Need. Always coming to the aid of the distressed and unfortunate within Society. In some cases Financial Assistance is provided on a limited basis. Housing for the Homeless, Troubled Afghanistan and Iraq Combat veterans are given Greater Priority as to Housing and Financial Needs. There are hundreds of distressed and unfortunate Individuals coming for shelter, food, clothing, Financial Assistance and Transportation to medical appointments.
This Family help service is wonderful, if youre a member of the tribe and have nowhere to turn they will find a path for you. If you just need a good doctor give them a ring theyre an extremely helpful entity...
The people who work here are incredibly kind and caring!
Nice staff giving services to community. Emphasis on security is understandable but jarring; sad that it is felt necessary
There are some amazing human beings here
If I could give no stars I would I came to this place dealing with a personal dilemma seeking help and understanding I am half jewish and you would think they would offer someone professional to me but no they only see Im black so they stick me with a black case manager who has never responded to any of my emails for assistance just a bunch of false promises and they choose whom they will work with so NO this being my first and last time I Should of known that houston would never offer people of Jewish background any help or guidance most of the true JEWS are in newyork thanks for offering Timothy which literally brushed me off with a bunch of useless talk
Received good care from my therapist, but the on-site Psychiatrist, Dr. Parikh is your conventional 10 minute med check up and go type doctor. He doesnt seem interested in your issues.

Went in for the counseling services and met some very good counselors. They are not professional psychiatrists by a long shot, but are courteous, empathetic, and come at a very low rate.
They are of great help with many problems
I receive adequate care from my doctor, whom I saw for 4 years BEFORE he moved to JFS...so lets discuss the receptionists, shall we? The two ladies who work there Monday-Friday whose job is to answer phones and hand over prescription sheets have, after repeated exposure to them, shown themselves to be permanently and intractably annoyed, all day, every day. Their work spaces are littered with little signs (meant to be cute I guess) that say things like Yes I AM like this all the time, or What the hell do YOU want? They come across like youre inconveniencing them, because theyre on the phone, or they need a break, or theyre old, so f--- off.A sign was recently added to the reception window forbidding anyone from using their phone in their waiting area. Translation: ONE person made a phone call (no, it wasnt me) and either said the f-word or was a bit loud, which interrupted their train of thought, and well, this is how they (over)responded. Quite illustrative.Their attitude is a cross between entitlement and I-got-screwed-over-so-I-work-here-now-go-to-hell. Maybe a little downsizing is in order...
I went to check out the art gallery and was shown around but was actually kicked out when they were going to do some little event for the people that work there. So thats weird.
Great place for mentally disabled to work and enjoy life
The perfect place for the disabled to learn a skill and social normalization

Supportive and helpful assistance in a variety of social services
This is a great business.
JFS has been there for us after Harvey with support and assistance. Morgan is very patient and we thank her for all that she done for us.
Very nice.
Mallory with Celebration Company simply an angel
They helped me but then they never gave me a bed for me and my kids during the storm last year
Inexpensive and good counselors and psychiatrist
Quiet and out of the way.
