I have been buy my mower parts from here over 25 years now. I do work for a landscape company. I also buy all my personal equipment here as well. I also get great quality parts for a fair price. I have bought cheeper parts from the web. just to find out, you get what you pay for. I am replacing those part again a lot sooner. and dont save any money.O, one more thing, this place is very busy. and for good reason. Quality parts at a fair price. thats why there parking lot is full of landscape . I hope this review help you out. I want to see good company succeed.

I call up there for parts and the guy that pick up the phone was rude . I ask him about buying a used deck for my mower first he said i need to see your mower. Then i tell him my truck is down and i have no way of getting it up there. Then he said i need to see my deck, so if i dont have no way to get my mower there then i have no way to get the deck. So i said if come up there i know how my deck look can i get it then he say no, dont come then hung up the phone.

Dropped my mower off to have the power drive cable replace and a regular service (flush gas tank, replace plug, replace air filter, change oil, sharpen blade ... the normal things). Received a call that it was ready for pickup. Stopped in today, paid for the repairs and went to have the mower loaded. But before seeing the mower i noticed on the ticket that the drive cable was not replaced, but rather the brake / engine cable was. This puzzled me since the engine cable was fine when it was dropped off, no one called me to say that the drive cable was not replace, yet I was being billed for something I did not request or authorize. The service manager was called in and he stated that he had been out for two weeks and didnt know anything about the mower, but offered to put my old cable back on .... the cable they found in the repair shop was a broken one .... how odd. Although he was polite, as was the counter lady, neither offered to correct this over charging on the part or associated labor, or apologize for not calling about about the main reason I was there ... to replace the drive cable. I asked the service manager to have the owner call me so we could resolve this issue, but guess what .. NO CALL. This may have been a simple mix up on their end, but being the customer, Im the one thats taking the hit. I wont be back and plan on letting all of my friends, neighbors and acquaintances NOT to utilize this establishment ... EVER!P.S. Ive just ordered the drive cable from Walmart .... Ill replace it myself.

Overpriced parts and no professionalism when it comes to customer service. They wont take responsability for things their own staff did or promised to a customer. Theyve change a part price on me as I was paying, mind you they had confirmed the price before over the phone too. Don’t come here. Just drive a few min to Southwest Mower, and get helped and treated right.

3 stars, but why? Allow me to explain. First and foremost, if you need to get your equipment fixed, these guys will do it and they will do it well as you would expect. Now, when it comes to the way they operate, thats where they start losing stars. Despite the fact that they told me they would call me for an estimate, they did not. To my surprise, the lawnmower I left there for service was already repaired by the time I called to ask what was going on. I noticed a lot of signs hanging inside stating their repair and return policies, which is something I didnt notice the first time I went there. One of those policies states that they will not call you for an estimate unless the cost of the repair is over $150, which to be honest is shady in my opinion because at least they could tell you verbally instead of expecting you to spot those policies yourself. Still, they did indeed get the lawnmower fixed rather quickly so whats fair is fair, even if its not nice.

I had my 3 yr old Honda mower tuned up here in early Spring. I recd mower in good working condition or so I thought. After 2 month of regular use on my relatively small lawn using fresh gas with Stabil (which I have been doing since I purchased Honda) the mower stopped working. I returned it for service and University informed me my engine was irreparable needing replacement. To make matters worse, I would need to pay $20 for their service or leave it. After paying my $20 I received my mower with key components of the engine in a grocery bag. I will never use this company.

I have been bringing my lawn equipment to this shop - including my 1966 Goodall lawnmower - since 1984 (34 years ago), when they were a small residential repair shop located in the Rice University village area between Greenbriar and Kirby. They have been doing all my equipment repairs since then, and have rebuilt several engines for me over the years and sold me an edger. I have noticed since they moved south on Weslayan near 59 that they have grown into a very large business, in a much larger physical plant with a lot of retail products on a showroom floor, and they have begun catering more and more to the commercial trade. I have known and liked the owner, Julio Trevino, throughout that time span. I will not say that the quality of repair work has been 100% consistently high quality work over that period of time, but I would say it has been high quality over 90% of the time. I have tried other shops at times. I always come back to Julio and University. For one thing, no one else will service my older equipment as parts are tough to find, but again, over 90% of the time, Julios guys figure out solutions. At times he has some very creative and skillful mechanics. No place will always be 100% consistent with high quality work and customer service, but I doubt many can top this place. Some policies may seem like a pain. For example, like one reviewer said, they wont pull 30 machines out just to get to yours if you come too close to closing time to pick up your repaired equipment. But they open on Saturday mornings from 8-12. Just get there more than 30 minutes before closing time. Its not a high price to pay for good, solid, dependable repair work and friendly service, and they are almost always friendly! I love this place and plan to keep going there until I cant walk anymore.

Not good service. They had my mower for 2 weeks. No call. I had to keep calling them. After 2 weeks they just took it apart, and wanted to charge me a lot & nothing was done. Never go there. Unless u wanna get ripped off.

Before my business started I was told to go here to buy my equipment. I was given $10 per item by the sister. I was not happy for the way I was treated and the so called discount. I took my business elsewhere and paid $9500 cash. They lost my business a year ago. I’m looking to buy 2 stand- on mowers March 2019 and I will not step foot in this location.

Its true that they dont call you if the repairs is under $150. Thats a little too high if you ask me, maybe something under $100 or $50 would make more sense depending on what the job is. Either way, my dad took his mower here because our line on the mower ripped off. We thought no biggie, easy repair should be cheap and why not help out a privately owned business. When I went to go pick up the lawnower I noticed that they charged us for things we did not request or need. I got charged for a filter I did not want or need, a miscellaneous piece of metal that made the mower line go all the way to the handle, and a spark plug I did not want as well. When I requested to have those items removed they told me the little warranty they offer for 30 days would be voided. Seeing as how they do business I was afraid that something could of gone wrong within those 30 days so I kept it and paid for all of it. I dont mind paying for things as long as you CALL me and explain to me why I should need them aside from what I came in and asked for. Bad service and communication, will no longer do business with again.

Cashiers have no experience. Dont even know what they are selling to you. Owner is SUPER RUDE. He couldnt even be nice because I was a lady. He wanted to make me pay a 20% restocking fee with a stupid attitude when THEY gave me the WRONG piece that morning and RETURNED it SAME DAY without even using it. Made him refund me 100% but went through a sour moment with them ugh!! NOT RECOMENDABLE WHATSOEVER!!!! NEVER COMING BACK!! I can not believe I gave them my blower and weedeater with factory warranty because they did not turn on after they called me saying that the blower did not work and the weedeater cleaned the carburetor for 103 dollars and the blower its not fix and i have to pay 20 the bad thing they never gave me the price it cost to fix them although it has a factory guarantee it did not cover the cleaning of the carburetor that place is full of thieves do not go to that place you will regret i wish i can put a sue

Not a great Stihl dealer. Poor knowledge about products. When I chose the chainsaw I wanted they put gas with ethanol in it which is not good for high quality small engines. Then they didn’t have Stihl motomix to sell me either. They also didn’t tell me about the purchase of oil or motomix to extend warranty to 2 years. Fortunately I knew about it and told them. Then they didn’t give me the manual or tool that is included with purchase. When I returned on a different day to pick up it was like they were doing me a favor to give me what they forgot the first time. Definitely no apology. Overall poor service. Not impressed.

The prices are pretty crazy.20% restocking fee That we werent told told about at the time of purchase.Labor charges are way too high. Plan to pay more than youd expect if you come here.The repair work costs more than what its all worth, and I speak through experience on that.I wouldnt recommend these people as a first choice, only a last resort.

Craftsman lawnmower would not start. I took it in on a Friday and Wednesday afternoon it was done. It runs fine now with new spark plug, new air filter, and carburetor rebuild. $118 which is about what I was expecting.

If I had done some research on this place, I could save my self time and a sour experience.No only the staff service is bad, but also this company steals money from customers if a customer needs to make a return.It states at the bottom of the receipt that there will be a 20% restocking fee on returnable parts.I didn’t read those little letters and the attendant didn’t explain that to me. This mistake cost me $14.99It not just about the money, it’s about customer service satisfaction.When I complain to the attendant she said that even when she return unused part for her truck gets charged with restocking fees.Being in the Tree Service Industry for more than 15 years, l have bought hundreds of parts ((in a different dealers of course) and never pay a penny for returning unused parts.University Lawn Mower is definitely aNO PLACE TO TO GOby the way some prices are way higher thanBrookside Equipment.

Today, May 25, 2018, the Friday before Memorial day I went to the store at 4:00 since their web page said they closed 5:30 pm. I had order a part for pick up at about 2:00 pm. There was a sign that stated they would be closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. They obviously decided customers be dammed we are are going to take off early May 25th and nor have that on our web page. It is their prerogative to close when they want but closing early today, without notice or at a time that any reasonable persons would not anticipate is not valuing customers.

I found University Lawn Mower Center on Briggs and Strattons Dealer Locator. I called looking for a part for my Briggs and Stratton engine. I had the part number available. The sales person checked for availability. It was in stock but the price was 45% higher than the average market price. When i asked to verify the price because it was so high the fella got extremely rude. So i asked him to describe the part he was quoting thinking maybe it got mixed up. He took offense to that question as well. The man insisted that he had the correct part and if i wanted it the price was as quoted.I would suggest Briggs and Stratton conduct some sort of audit or quality check on the companys they refer as authorized dealers.
